    Your content is top notch. The perfect blend of humor, high production quality and not rambling on and on about theory. I like how you get to the main points quickly. And I'm very excited to try to add this to my defensive repertoire! :)

    Kyle!!! I can’t believe it! I’m relatively new to Pickleball
    (. 3 months)and I used this technique yesterday! I’m 72 and I was playing at the senior center with players who are pretty skilled. I was telling everyone about when the opponent’s paddle goes high bring your paddle down and lift the ball. I did it and it worked and I went crazy with joy!
    Thanks!!! I learn so much from you!

    The volleyball player defending is priceless. I have played beach volleyball all my life and connecting this shot to a volleyball dig, just opened my mind to these kind of shots. Pow,! Wow! I now made the mental connection to improving this shot. Now looking forward to these shots.

    Aloha and many thanks! Awesome tutorial. I especially like the defending with two hands. For me that is a more solid return on high hard shots that are slammed down at me.

    Love this and you make it look so easy!! 😄Right now I'm mishitting (mis-hitting😆) cause I'm not getting my paddle down fast enough. Or maybe I'm not tracking the ball fast enough?? Can you give some insight on tracking the ball when the action is in 4th gear??!! Love your vids!! 🥰

    • @thatpickleballguy
      @thatpickleballguy  Рік тому

      The simple answer is to do your best to keep focus on tracking the ball.
      The a little more not as fun answer is you need to see a lot more reps to start to understand when you should get that paddle down to his this ball!

    For this reset, are your feet supposed to be staggered or squared to the net?

      I was wondering the same thing along with whether I should be on my toes or have a solid base (whole foot on ground).
      This video is a good reminder though of something I overthink all the time.

    You might add, BACK UP!! if the opponent raises his paddle high, you need to "buy time" if you're getting Smashied!!!
    Getting back allows you to get set up as you described here..
    I'm going to try that 2 hand thing n see what happens...
    Take care...

    For outdoor tournament play on the pro level what brand and model of ball is typically used ? My friend will only play with the onix gfuse and those things bounce as high as a bouncy ball so playing the soft dink game is next to impossible

    i am a one handed backhand
    is it fine to practice with one hand too?

    • @thatpickleballguy
      @thatpickleballguy  Рік тому +2

      Actually, i would defer two hands here. By putting your left hand on the paddle, you give yourself the ability to lift the ball with a dominant left hand on the paddle.
      With just one, itll work some, but not as consistently bc your wrist cant bend as much as it would need to to really dig the ball.

    NEW TERM: It's time for a new name for pickleball. The new name is as follows: WIFFLEPONG. Thank you for your compliance. PSA over.

    Problem is newer players don’t always hit it down and then you just get beaned.

    I understand you have to feed your partner a higher shot to hit down on but don't you think this builds bad muscle memory?

    • @thatpickleballguy
      @thatpickleballguy  Рік тому +1

      That's a good question. Probably at a small level, but I haven't found it to negatively effect me.
