I hadn’t heard. Sad. He was decent bloke. I went on a trip to Temora once. Drove out to his place unannounced and asked if I could see Jacko (Paleface). Col took me over to the paddock where he was.
There has only ever been 1 horse in the southern hemisphere (if not the world) who won more races than Paleface Adios. The Queensland horse Cane Smoke won an incredible 116 races.
Paleface Adios actually won 108 races, (not 126 as stated below), second to Cane Smoke on races won in Australia. Paleface raced from the age of two years until he was retired at the age of 11 years and raced every year against the best . To win 108 races is an incredible achievement.
After he knocked up the Century my dad qualified it with us that some of those wins were in Temora, meaning they were out the back of nowhere, like it was not 100 wins in metropolitan class. He was not knocking the horse.
american racing hall of fame has a mare called Goldsmith maid won 350 races and won her last race at age 20 beating horses half her age, they state that her races were 92 wins from 121 starts the rest were heats and dashes to get into the races.... but there was a american bred horse that won 5 races in america b4 some canadians bought him and he went on to notch 241 career wins... his name was Symbol Allen
Champion legend a trainer who looked after his horse all throughout his career we need horses like him pure steel Hondo Grafton thorate gammalite back at our tracks
we must be related then as Colin was my mothers cousin and I sued to travel to Temora often as a kid with my parents and stay at the farm with Colin and his family and of course Paleface
One of my favourites of all time.
R.I.P Colin Pike, a true legend of the sport, and Paleface Adios an absolute champion of the sport.

Almost all of the people of the video have already passed away.

Paleface Adios would win that race But I think Cane Smoke won 2 races on the 1 card the 1st and the last?

Your dad is a wanker our sir Lancelot raced at Parkes to get rid of an odm. A wins a win
Miracle mile isn't top shelf your dad is a fucking retard
I’ve seen paleface adios at Harold park many times when I was a teenager ,racing with Honda Grattan
My dad pop and uncle always talked about the battles between the Temora tornado and the Bathurst bulldog
As always, thank you Dom!!!!
This wonderful horse gave me some unbelievable thrills - he was an absolute legend in an era before harness racing in NSW became a total joke.
loved paleface to that's why I recorded the song
everytime I see this it gives me goosebumps from the bloke who recorded the ep record paleface adios

What a cool name for a horsey
Should have won that Inter Dominion when Just Too Good galloped in front of him at the start. He would have bolted in that night. What a crime!
Was that 1974? It was a hot night in Perth I remember. I think Hondo Grattan won that year.
@kerryhodge ...I prefer Johnny Tapp's "Little Hondo" ;)
My family owned that horse :D
Well I think it was my dad's uncle or something ^^
Legend he was, shame that snake bit him :/
