I saw the great one race many times, but my overwhelming memory of Paleface was at Moonee Valley in a heat of the Inter Dom. A red hot favourite not only with the bookies but with the huge crowd, must have been in the tens of thousands those days. Well, Paleface was stuck behind the leader the whole race, unlike today where it's probably one the best positions, with no sprint lane old Paleface was in trouble deep. The huge crowd was watching on holding their collective breaths, you could have heard a penny drop, complete and utter silence the whole race. As the field thundered for home and turned the leader rolled away from the fence and from the grandstand you could see the big white face bursting through. The crowd erupted with a thunderous cheer as Paleface raced through the gap and spaced the opposition. It was a race I'll never forget.

Back in the golden era of harness racing, when the ABC used to televise the legs of the daily double from Harold Park on Friday night. Loved those days and the other great horses, Hondo Grattan, Pure Steel, Gammalite, Markovina, etc. Cheers.
I remember getting up on a Sunday morning to play football but before every game used to watch World of Sport and every week when the trots came on this great horse would almost always win my first Australian sports hero. And thanks for the great description of the great old days
