BBBs02e14 | K&N Chrome Top RC-0850 Universal Filter Install & Re-Jet with Mikuni

- Join me as I install a K&N Chrome top air filter part number RC-0850 62mm inside diameter 76mm outside diameter throat using an areoflow silicon adaptor onto the stock air intake. We then re-jet the main jet on the mikuni carb using a 120 # jet size and wind the air fuel screws out to 3.5 turns! We then test ride and check the results! Next week we lift the needle and clip the carb slide spring.
I did struggle with corruption of one file, so a short segment is a little pixelated sorry! - Авто та транспорт
Came up great and really compliments the look of the bike!
Thanks mate I thought it looked awesome! Cheers!
Awesome. Beautiful scenery too. 👌
Thanks mate! 👍👍
It’s so nice when an engine can breathe properly 😁👍
Yup some good jetting to flow as well!
Awesome job looks and sounds great. I've just added an rc-0920 and fitted snug on the stock air box without an adapter just about to re jet. Cheers for your videos they have gave me loads of ideas for my xvs 650
Thanks mate glad you enjoyed
@@iRidetas did you have to play around with finding the right size jets or did you just go for those straight away?
I did some research!! There is oodles of discussion on google on what jets to run with what mods try 650ccnd.com to start.
Came up a treat, doesn't look to intrusive. Cheers m8 : )
Thanks mate I aas pretty stoked!
She'll be able to breathe that good Tassie Air good n' proper now mate.... Sounds and runs awesome, well done ✌✌✌
Thank you very much mate! Cheers
Thanks for sharing man, great job!
Thanks
@@iRidetas I hate to bug you with what may be a dumb question but, to be honest, I'm a noob and got interested in your jets being changed, why do you recomend doing that? I'm working on a XVS650 bobber project my self so all of your videos are very welcomed by the way!!!
Increases fuel sprayed or aspirated as we have increased the air flow
Without more fuel in the air fuel mix we would be to lean! Then run hot n do damage or not run properly..
@@iRidetas Got it, thanks again man!
Excellent work, cheers: was looking for an alternative to the ugly stock filter on the dragstar/vstar. Beautiful countryside too: Van Diemen's land looks like Ireland.
Thanks mate, this worked really well! 👍👍
She's breathing good now , noice 😎
Yeah I thought it came out well! 😀👍
Nice one, but a bit surprised the bike isn't jetted bigger for the rear cylinder as it is with the Marauder, but then again that carb system is different and to be honest I have been struggling with those carbs quite a bit to get them right but never got to clipping the slide springs
Yeah vstars are jetted to run pretty lean! I think I may go one up on the pilot on Thursday when I have the day off. It's just backfiring slightly on zero throttle down hill. Carbs are a black art for sure!
That k&n looks great. Like my pod filter it might be drama in heavy rain.
Thanks mate! I thought so! it's still attached to stock airbox and throat and tucks up under the tank quite well, but we will see! 😀👍Cheers!
When I saw the chisel my immediate thought was , “This is not going to end well” but hey I’ve been wrong before so we’ll just add this to the list. I want keep hitting that like button multiple times but it just keeps blinking like a Christmas tree light. Lol, I need a chisel.Beautiful job.
Lol not sure the purest would like it but it worked a treat! 😀 and I didnt have to buy an impact screw driver!!! Win win
Hello again from England!! Love what you done to the bike! Can I ask a question please mate... I feel the standard filter bowl on the 650 is huge (looks wise) is it because they used the same one for both 650 and 1100? Just that when covers off there’s sooo much empty space too? Cheers in advance n love your videos 👍🏻
Yeah mate probably is but also i reckon they wanted to fill that gap from the factory, i think it looks great with the gap
@@iRidetas me too! I can’t understand why they put a bowl on it that’s the same size as the engine? If anyone knows a mechanical reason can you let me know please... cheers again iridetaz👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Nice video mate. Question about your mirrors, what are they attached too.and how have you done that ?
Search through the playlist there is a video about mirrors

Hey on the oem air cleaner, the small air cleaner hose that hangs down & is capped off, like right under the filter, what do u think would happen if un capped that w the original set up? Think it let more air in?
I think it would have a negligible effect at best sorry! But you can always cap it back off. You may have to richen the mix a fraction if you do
@@iRidetas thanks mate!! I've always wondered what it was, it's past the filter but I thought if put a little cold air type filter on it & see if would run little more air, I agree w u tho, wanted your thought on it. Is tru could always see & put the cap back lol. Appreciate your opinion alot!!!
Be interested to see if it works! Have you checked out www.650ccnd.com/rak.htm
Which is a mod to your stock airfilter!
@@iRidetas no I haven't, but I definitely am right now! I'll update u how it works!!
Hey, yea that's awesome!!! Also was told, like how u put that k & n filter set up on, u can also get exhaust plugs w different sized holes to play w that fit in the filter airway hole to play w mix too, think there for like voltswagons or something like that, but supposedly they just fit in like a cork & can get different sizes. Thanks so much for that link!!!
i noticed you didnt shim the needles, I would recommend just two shim on each needle to get that little more midrange that you appear to be missing on your acceleration run

Haha yeah I was on my way out the door to buy an impact screwdriver next!! 😂
