James Earl Jone's voice cannot be imitated by anyone with great accuracy, which is probably why they brought him back for Kenobi series, and thank The Maker for that!
Well, they got a huge assist from Respeecher in constructing the voice in the show...and the guy who voiced Vader in the latest Lego Star Wars game (Fred Tatasciore) does a pretty great job at it too. So if they use Vader again after James Earl Jones passes away, they'll be okay.
The empire is just the galactic government, so most of the galaxy is essentially part of the empire. Leia's father, Bail Organa, was a senator in Galactic Senate under the Republic (which transitioned to the Imperial Senate when the Empire came to be). But he is anti-Palpatine and would eventually be a founding member of the Rebel Alliance (formally, the Alliance to Restore the Republic).
I definitely fall on the side of loving this show, every episode just feels right to me, even when it's being a little silly there's a lot of heart in it, not to mention that Ewan's and Vivien (Leia's) performances are out of this world. Leia's dad, Bail Organa, was a senator in the Galactic Republic the same as Padme Amidala. After the Clone Wars and Order 66, the Republic was "re-organized" by Chancelor Sheev Palpatine into "The First Galactic Empire" with Palpatine (Darth Sidious) as its Emperor. The senators kept their positions as representatives of their home planets, but now are now senators in the Empire's "Imperial Senate". Their positions are really only for show since the Emperor is the true ruler of the Empire, but Bail Organa is still an idealist who favors the democratic process over fascism.
Yes Bail Organa is technically “part” of the Empire as part of the Imperial Senate. Before the Death Star destroyed Alderaan, Grand Moff Tarkin explains that the Emperor dissolved the Imperial Senate.
All the bad things Vader has done and as far he had fallen is what makes the redemption all the more great. That one small spark of Anakin that's left managed to claw its way through the darkness and come to the surface
For Darth Vader’s voice, they used a software program called ReSpeech which is able to recreate a voice based on recordings of someone’s voice. They used all of James Earl Jones’s recorded lines from Episodes IV-VI to get the recreation as exact as possible. James Earl Jones also came in and recorded lines to give ReSpeech a sort of guide for choosing inflections, pauses, abs stresses. So what you hear in screen is completely computer generated.
I kinda hope this is like what star trek did with majel barret. As she voiced the ships computer, she recorded a heap of lines/sound clips so that after she passed they could continue to have her voice as the computer.
@@mikeyc2110 it’s not. For that, they’re using her recordings in the film. For this, the computer is completely creating something new. They type in the dialogue into the computer, then the AI creates the voice, using data on James Earl Jones’s voice, and speech patterns. The one shortcoming of the software is by itself, while it can replicate the voice spot on, on its own, it doesn’t sound 100% natural in the way it flows. To remedy this, they have someone, preferably the original actor, come in and record the lines as they would if it was in the show. This gives the program the map it needs to flow naturally.

That water tank looking thing is what they call a bacta tank. It promotes quick healing. When Luke lost his hand & was recovering in the original movies, he was in one.
These next two episodes are epic. There was a lot of hate coming from people about Obi Wan but I believe it redeems itself in the next two. Put it this way, I was 11 years old when I saw SW in the theaters in 1977. Episode 6 brings back that feeling I felt as a kid. Enjoy them.
I think a lot of the hate is from non Star Wars fans and trolls who don’t belong in the SWU. Ewan put out a a short video over his disgust of the treatment of Reva.
@@dreamer2355 I have been a star wars fan since seeing RotJ in theaters. the writing on this show is lacking. part of the problems is K. Just because people don;t like something you do does not make them haters. The show has its good movement but it has a lot of issues as well.
@@dreamer2355 This isn't true. The show is poorly and cheaply written, it's paper-thin and they probably decided to move it from theaters to a Plus series because they never planned to invest much into it. Ewan McGregor is incredible as always but he's running in a sandbox while people chase him. Though all of the inquisitors' writing leave something to be desired, Reva is also poorly cast. She's not intimidating or convincing as an imperial leader and I don't know why people would defend her of all people, she's not very important.

The “Quinlan” that gets mentioned in the safe house is one of Obi-wan’s closest Jedi friends (even if Obi-Wan gets exasperated by Quinlan all the time). They never revealed his fate so it’s great for fans that he is revealed to have survived Order 66 and could appear in an upcoming series
@@pop-culturecinephile8144 Didn't he even fall to the Dark Side for a while and come back? It's been a while. If I recall, Obi-Wan was the only one on his side when he came back to the Light. It would make sense that he's out saving younglings.
People have criticised these shows but I am loving them. Ewan McGregor and Deborah Chow and everyone else is doing a wonderful job on this series. My wife and late teens are loving it too, and so are mates and extended family. It’s been a cold winter here so far in Australia, so we’ve been enjoying these in front of the fire and making each episode a movie event.
A whole industry of youtubers pooping on disney has come out of nowhere. Apparently you can now make a living doing nothing but criticizing Disney star wars material. Not that Disney is above reproach, but I'm taking the rage a little less seriously these days.
Quinlan(who Obi Wan mentions as being a member of the Path)was a Jedi who was a bit more unconventional. Last we heard of him was in a story called "Dark Disciple"(one of the good new canon books). The creature that Obi Wan finds in the first tank is Tera Sinube. He appears in "Clone Wars", he was a guardian for one of the youngling clans and a Jedi with a great deal of knowledge on the criminal underworld. He appears in one of the best episodes of the series.
So you probably know this but the other two inquisitors have learned their place through respect not being the loudest person in the room like Reva also that symbol carved on the hideout wall was the Symbol of The Jedi Order
6:48 This is probably just an Easter egg. In the original script of RETURN OF THE JEDI, when Obi-Wan's spirit speaks to Luke on Dagobah, he revealed that Owen Lars are as actually his biological brother, not Anakin's stepbrother.
Part of the reason I think they never really took time in the movies to linger on the loss is because all these people are at war and in war in the moment you can't take time to grieve. If you hesitate you can die. The grief has to happen after the battle is done and everyone is safe. In this moment, though, the Rebellion hasn't started and these people aren't soldiers; they're civilians trying to help bring back freedom. They haven't been desensitized yet and every death for them is hard and that's why we get the moment to see it. Talla even said at the end of the episode that now they are soldiers, they weren't before this.

Bail Organa is a senator of Alderaan and since the (Old) Republic was turned into the Empire, all sentors became part of Empire as senators of the Imperial Senate (which wouldn't be dismanteled until A New Hope at the same time as The Death Star was complete). Since the once democratic Republic have turned into a dictatorship, the senators have no power over laws and political decisions but could slightly influence Emperor Palpatine if what hears suits him (if not he would in the best case dismiss them or in the absolute worst case arrest the senators and probably executed) but they were more of advisor roles than making any impact like they did in The Republic. He just had to play along while in secret support The Rebellion which he and Senator Mon Mothma formed (in a couple of deleted scenes from Revenge of the Sith, which I highly recommend you to watch as they flesh out more layers, to counteract Chancellor Palpatine's chaning of laws, including appoint governors for each System, a group of senators including Organa, Mothma and Amidala started a group in order to make diplomacy resume and to make Palpatine return his emergency powers so a new Chancellor would be elected as he sat far longer than he should have according to Republic law,). If he was revealed of being a part of The Rebell Alliance, he would be arrested and replanted with another senator who would more or less be a puppet of the Empire. Rememer in A New Hope when Vader captured Leia and said "You're part of the Rebel Alliance and a traitor! Take her away!" and got jailed on the Death Star!

Of course wouldn't feel Leia's precense as she didn't learn how to use it, or she would have been detected much earlier. Remember in Return of the Jedi that Vader wasn't aware of Leia being her daughter until he probed Luke's mind? "Sister? So you have a twin sister! Obi-Wan was wise to hide her from me.". Leia couldn't even feel with the force until Luke managed to call out for her when he was stuck underneath of Cloud City of Bespin in Empire Strikes Back, that was the first time she ever felt the Force.
Conspiracy theory: when Leia asks obi if he is her real dad...what if she was feeling the Force? And felt that he was? It is possible for twins to be born to 2 different fathers. And Obi wan and padme spent A LOT of time together once Annikan was made master and had to take on Asohka in the intervening years ...there's a hot potato! Maybe that's why Vader couldn't sense her. But DID sense Luke Skywalker even from fighter craft distance in IV

Once I saw your reaction upon realizing that Vader had found him, I began to dread what you were about to experience upon seeing the Obi-Wan get pulled into the fire.
Keep up the great work!
That water tank looking thing is what they call a bacta tank. It promotes quick healing. When Luke lost his hand & was recovering in the original movies, he was in one.
I've already watched all of this and I loved all of it I'm now watching reactions with you I just love all Star Wars had since the 70s
Love and hate aren't opposites.
Love and Indifference on the other hand...
Love your slogan of Oh my gosh in your intro. It fits perfectly.
@ 12:51 did she just call a lightsaber fight a glow stick battle? lmao
This is why I subscribed to you. Everyone else is just full of vitriol, but you have an positive attitude towards things.
Kennedy had a lot of influence over the script, George Lucus is one is not happy about this series you can look that up for your selfs.
If no one said it bail (beil?) Organa is just a really good and powerful politician weather he's under the republic or empire he's a man for the people and I really love that
Just to add to this he was a member of the Republic but the Republic itself was transformed INTO the Galactic Empire by Palpatine.
The glow stick battle?? Come on... 😂
Can’t wait. Quinlan was also one of the few Jedi to beat Count Dooku in a duel
@@pop-culturecinephile8144 Didn't he even fall to the Dark Side for a while and come back? It's been a while. If I recall, Obi-Wan was the only one on his side when he came back to the Light. It would make sense that he's out saving younglings.
Fr. I can't wait for them both to meet up again
@@mckrackin5324, just read Dark Disciple. Asajj Ventress’ story concludes there as well
“i think he understood just fine…” (referring to “the loader”).. ha! thank you for another great reaction!
07:40: "Oh, no, different girl. She also looks mean."
07:47: "Hello, friend!"
Easy there, I'm getting whiplash.
"how did you turn so evil" - you've met children, right?
It follows Obi-Wan as he collaborates with the Path network to rescue Princess Leia from the Fortress Inquisitorius.
When She said glowstick battle, I pictured it as a scene out of the Star Wars "Just dance" game.
oh just you wait till you see the final 2 episodes, it's a doozy! that's an interesting analogy you came up with lol, I love Disneyland too, I've been going there all my life! heck I was born in a house, not a hospital, a few blocks away from the park, and my uncle used to work there, so he would always get discounts for the entire family! no matter how many times I went, I always felt the magic and wonder! so many fond memories I have of that place, so yeah, it's also my happy place too lol! anyway, loved this reaction, can't wait to see your reaction to the last 2 episodes, this is certainly in my opinion one of the best STAR WARS expanded universe spin-offs I've seen in a while! take care and stay classy Cassie😁👌👍
Tala is hands down one of my favorite Star Wars characters ever.
Tala is a example of a strong female character that is so well written and acted. It isn't forced down your throat.
Reva is the opposite
... and the best spy of the galaxy:
15:42 she convinces everyone ..... who is dumb as hell
15:55 she can be invisible ... by talking loud into a micro next to someone else (who is also dumb as hell)
17:12 she can someone disappear .... if you are a bilnd and again, dumb as hell
19:02 her fighting skill are on a next level .... POWER SLAP!!
.... not to mention her escape plan: let's hide Leia under the trench
@@martinloss4171 you obviously never have done much in your life of the way of confidence have you?
@@Slevencolevra it's funny that you didn't proof me wrong. I guess her behavior was smart enough for you 😅
And please don't repeat her slap technique. That move can kill someone
@@martinloss4171 so in your mind she got the final say on what stayed in the show? Reference to your slap
I adore the Kenobi/Leia relationship. Love is central to Star Wars. OT works cuz of the bond with Han/Leia/Luke.
I think this show is great, any negative issues are just nitpicking imo. I wish Star Wars fans could just enjoy life. Lol.
Love your reactions. I truly feel like Im watching with a friend. Thanks for that!!
In a universe full strange aliens, sentient robots, space wizards and ghosts, the most unbelievable thing is Leia's dialogues.
I think that's Zack Braff playing the voice of Freck.
It is.
It's not a torture chamber. It's a kolto tank. Kolto heals people and is found on a planet called Manaan. When someone has severe injuries they go into the tank.
“The glow stick battle” love it haha
For someone thinking blasters are uncivilised, Obi Wan sure is good at using them!
06:49: In the 1976 novelization of Star Wars, *Owen* was Ben’s brother.
I love that even though you've seen all the movies, know that they are lightsabers, you still called them glow sticks lol.
we need a scene with glow sticks and screamy planes
Moving may be the worst, adventure you and your family are embarking on is the best.
Vader's voice in the series is James Earl Jones, but because he is much older , technicians help so it sound as in the original film.
Yeah. The man is in his 90s and he is still committed to voicing Darth Vader after 45 years. Legend
As it turns out the death star was NOT the first time Obi-Wan and Vader had their first and long awaited rematch since Ep3.
love your reaction when Reeva is lying to Leia ... you made a sound like a fart - like "look into my eye" 🤣😂🤣😂
You will LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the movie HIDALGO !! (the horse)
They'll need to redo the “Obi-Wan has PTSD"" video to include the scenes of Obi-Wan in the fire.
Usually Vader’s that cool villain you love to see and people just look past the things he has done but she actually hates him so much, Anakin/Vader has always been my favorite character and his story is just so devastating and my favorite story ever do im biased and just love seeing him
Of course wouldn't feel Leia's precense as she didn't learn how to use it, or she would have been detected much earlier.
Glad your enjoying these two episodes 🎢💫✨💥 I did too 🍫
The end of episode 4 was a great rescue
Love The New Setup !!! Keep Up The Great Work On The Reactions !!! Sending Lots Of Love From Indiana !!!!!!
Yes ..the small moment before he dies does not redeem him..
I’m a big hairy Scotsman, and I totally get what you mean about the Disney magic,. I get emotional at the Magic Kingdom , and this series hit just right as a a long time Star awards fan too,
"Didn't have the star Wars magic in 8 and 9."
I felt a disturbance, like the sound of a million voices crying out in agreement and then a silent sadness.
11:55 Anakin was burning in lava he wanted revenge on Obi wan , that's why he created this little hell for him
I wanted to subscribe to you again after you scolded Freck lol. Then you called it a glow stick battle I couldn’t stop cracking up 🤣
God bless you and your family always, PiB.
Anyone else get some major Metal Gear Solid vibes from the way Obi-Wan snuck into that Inquisitor's fortress?
20:28 me too.
So much facism, so much power, and so much darkness… When the rebels came to the rescue I ignored the plot holes and - literally - showed my middle fingers to the Inquisitors during this scene.
So happy
@@josephwallace202 I agree, because it’s a fictional universe.
But between the aesthetics, the lack of diversity, and the information control, smells fascist.
"did he just kill a kid"....yea he does that quite a lot actually lol
"The glow stick battle in the fire!" 😂
Cass is going to explode at the last two episodes and I'm here for it.
I loved this series and I'm happy you are enjoying it!
I love your sudden chocolate commercials 😂
I wish I could know what it's like to have been to Disney world or land so many times that it loses its magic. I have not had the pleasure even once at 35 years old and I don't see it happening anytime in the future. But I'm glad it did it for you! Love you reviews though!
I find it funny that the writers snuck in a "Are we there yet?" style question in Leia's dialogue.
Cassie, if you remember, the T-47s that rescued them here in episode 4 were the same ships the rebels used to fight the Empire on Hoth in The Empire Strikes Back.
did they have trouble adapting them to the warm weather?
