But he's officially named Darth Vader before he ever gets the suit and prosthetics and mask, he becomes Vader right after he cuts off Mace Windu's arm.
@@justanotherguy2120he becomes Vader when he starts killing the separatists leaders. Before he was “following orders” but he enjoys what he does to them
@brettsalazar1886 so Palpatine was wrong when he said "henceforth you shall be known as darth Vader. [etc etc] do what must be done, lord Vader. do not hesitate, show no mercy. [etc etc]"? You're saying Palpatine was wrong, meaning the script was wrong, meaning George Lucas was wrong?
@@justanotherguy2120 he gave him the name but Darth Vader is an entirely different personality than anakin and it’s one that’s born once he starts killing the separatists.
@@hkiller57nah to me and many dudes i know they are just love able side characters for my girl they are the best and their favorite even tho yes r2 is 10x more important than chewie and other characters
31:59 Recall that Luke tells R2 to do the same thing in Empire, but R2 actively disobeys him. Because the last time someone told R2 to 'stay with the ship', it was Anakin, and he never came back.
31:57 that’s why in later episodes R2 doesn’t listen to Luke when he instructs him, because Anakin left R2 on Mustafar when he instructed him to stay with the ship.
15:26 I think it's important to mention that the original Jedi (those who founded the Jedi order some thousands of years ago) understood the importance of vulnerability and of humanity. In many cases they encouraged Jedi to meditate on their emotions. to get to the roots of their trauma and heal from it. They understood that for someone as powerful as a Jedi, emotional dysregulation could be incredibly dangerous to others. The thing is though, by the time of the late republic (when these films take place), the Jedi had been so isolated from the lives of everyday citizens. They sat in their ivory tower, contemplating philosophy with no way of truly living that philosophy. By this point, they were little more than a political tool of a republic that was succumbing to corruption and decadence. This is why I always loved Qui-Gon Jinn, from The Phantom Menace. He followed the teachings of those Jedi that came far before him. He understood that a Jedi must still care, acknowledge their feelings, and be in touch with their own vulnerability. That's why his death is so tragic. Had Qui-Gon been able to train Anakin, he likely would have turned out much different. Qui-Gon saw that Anakin needed a father figure in his life, and he was far more ready to take that role than Obi-Wan.
Also, Yoda is a oldest member, but the Jedi are not a cult like some people like to exaggerate about. Many have different opinions and values on how to interpret teachings. They all have different ways of doing things. Some Jedi are more pacifists than others, while some think intimate relationships can be healthy. It's implied throughout the film and other Canon media that many people in the order suspected Padmé and Anakin were together and Obi-wan def knew, but it was a kinda thing they just let be.
@@vatsalgaur1999attachment and possessions become a problem when it turns into an obsession and that's what the original Jedi warned about. But the modern jedi interpreted that as "all connections are evil" instead of warning against unhealthy attachment. And many Jedi were fine with it, and some were not. Healthy attachment is knowing when you have to let go, If I love my child, but won't let him go to school because he might get hit by a car, that's an unhealthy attachment cause I'm overly worried about things outside of my control.
I think this was a failing on the part of Yoda. He gave the right advice without realizing that it was completely worthless to Anakin precisely because Anakin was too much in love with Padme. This is also one of the reasons why the jedi are trained so young (and perhaps why Anakin is perhaps more susceptible to this to begin with). It isn't because they lose potential with age, it's so that they can imprint the right set of values before they become rebellious and might actually consider going against the teachings. It's possible to live lives of celibacy, it happens with Buddhist monks all the time. They just keep themselves away from temptation.
It was already heartbreaking. More heartbreaking? Because they retconned in a bunch of characters to make you more sad? Huh? By retconned I don't just mean Ahsoka (AhRetcona) I mean making multiple characters act completely differently than they do in the movies...............
In episode 6 where luke was telling vader that there's still good in him... he reminded him of padme. Likewise, when luke was being electrocuted by the emperor, vader was in the same position he was in with mace windu, but this time it was his son. George always said that the trilogies were like poetry, they rhyme.
At the beginning of the movie when Palpatine tells Anakin to leave Obi-Wan behind and Anakin replies: "His fate will be the same as ours" All three of them die on the Death Star. Poetry.
It's incredibly sad and tragic how Anakin was always destined for this life. He was the chosen one, and he fulfilled his prophecy, but he had to endure the most excruciating hardships all throughout his life only to end with the feeling of love and comfort in the arms of his son. The one who saw through all the pain.
I know a lot of people don't like the romance in episode 2 but I like to think of it like two teens on their first date. They are attracted to each other but have no experience dating. Anakin is also immature, and this irritates Padme sometimes. Also, there love is forbidden so that adds more awkwardness and turmoil in the relationship. By episode 3 they are more comfortable with each other and have a system of how to behave with the outside world, so they come across as having better chemistry.
Anakin is still so misunderstood in these movies. As a child he grew up without a father, only being cared for by his mom. Then he gets taken away from her to become a Jedi who even from the beginning was looked down upon and was only allowed to become a Jedi due to qui-gon. Then when he starts getting dreams of her dying, all the Jedi tell him to ignore is feelings and that it’s better to let go. And when his mother dies he blames himself for not being able to stop it. His whole life as a Jedi he was told that he was the chosen one just for all the masters to treat him as a threat. In his mind the Jedi were already failing him. He looked up to obi wan as a father figure, wanting him to encourage and stick up for him, but obi wan saw anakin as a brother and someone who was able to protect himself. But the chancellor played off of a Anakins want for a father and tried to take that role so he could influence anakin. And when anakin had dreams of pademe dying the Jedi again told him to ignore and let go, where as the chancellor told him what he wanted to hear. Anakin knew what was right, but when he looked for someone to help him, he always felt abandoned, except for the chancellor. Anakin knew that what he was doing was bad, but he wanted someone there to tell him what was right and wrong until it was too late.
Whats worse is that the clones did not want to execute order 66 but the chips implanted on them at birth took control and made them obey without question (most of them anyways some tried to go against the chip). Some clones committed suicide as well afterwards.
That's only in the new canon. Originally, they were simply engineered and conditioned to follow any order without question, and were never loyal to the Jedi. This further showcases how the Jedi fell to their own hubris.
27:59 In the Episode III novel a bystander couldn't even see what was going on, only flashes of light, cause Palpatine and Windu were moving so incredibly fast, which is also why the 3 other jedi got destroyed pretty much immediately.
The creepy scream Palps does at the start is a Dark Side move that confuses and sets their opponents off balance, which is how Jedi Masters fell so easily, they were disoriented. Mace Windu practices the Vapaad style which draws from the Dark Side as well so he wasn't as affected.
I liked your friends notes on the duel of the fates song and scene but to take it one step further obi-wan defeating maul is also symbolism for how in the end Anakin was able to overcome Vader from light to dark to light again thus bringing balance to the force
But you also need to note how the battle that Qui-Gon had with the counsel was different from the difficult Anakin seemed to have with the counsel....If Qui-Gon had won against Maul, and Obi didn't get killed in the process, Anakin's difficulty with the counsel might have been about substantive issues....But because Obi won and Qui-gon died, Anakin was trained by Obi, not Maul, or Qui-gon.
7:27 Because in episode 1 Phantom Menace. Anakin thought of Obi Wan as an older brother and Qui Gon as a father figure. And after Qui Gon's death in episode 1 Phantom Menace Palpatine took over the father figure role for Anakin.
I literally waited 22 years for this. IT WAS FUCKING EPIC. Love your reactions!!! You let the story consume you, and the roller coaster that follows. I knew when I was 8 that Kenobi and Anakin fought near molten lava, seeing it was out of this world!!! #FathersDay2005 #RevengeoftheSith May the Force be with You!!!
I found out the name Mustafar from a behind the scenes book in elementary school and the way my heart dropped with dread when it came up was an experience that remains unique
Great Reaction. I agree that Revenge of the Sith is the best part of the Saga, as you said it centers around all the other Movies links them together and has a excellent pacing.
I loved this movie when it came out, and with time it has only gotten better in my eyes. It is also a movie that perfectly showcases why lightsabre duels in Star Wars aren't attempts to imitate realistic fights, they're performance dance: it tells a story. The scene with the younglings always gets me, and I so appreciate that Lucas decided to go there. After that scene you know there's no 'easy return' for Anakin and it makes it all the more meaningful that in the end his redemption only happens 'in the eyes of his children' ... for the Galaxy he will remain stained forever by his deeds.
There's no problem with skipping Clone Wars. But i do recommend you see Rogue 1 and then the 6 episodes of Obi Wan Kenobi before going to the sequels. ✌🏼
Ahsoka won’t make as much sense without both Clone Wars and Rebels since you wouldn't have a clue who any of the new characters are or how they are relevant. Not to mention, Clone Wars really elevates the prequels and makes so much of what happens in them far more impactful. I would argue that it's essential viewing alongside the movies. Just keep in mind there are two versions - the one that went from 2008-2014 and 2020 is the one that introduces Ahsoka and is considered canon. The earlier 2003 version is no longer considered canon, but is stylistically a very unique entry into the Star Wars universe and introduced an important villain that appears in the 2008 version.
@Gimil38 To the contrary, the series explains how there could be a rebellion in full swing during that time and Obi-Wan would know Vader survived and was out there trying to crush the rebellion, but Obi-Wan would not see it as his solemn duty to continue trying to kill him, once he knew that Vader was still alive. From the films, we know that Obi-Wan's assignment in this episode III was to kill Vader, and that he couldn't bring himself to decisively end it, but that he inflicted enough damage to reasonably assume that Vader couldn't survive without help. But we also know from the films that: 1. Eventually, Obi-Wan learned that Vader had survived and had been "rebuilt" by the Emperor into "more machine than man", but that Obi-Wan had still spent many years avoiding him until leaving Tatooine with Luke. 2. That by the time Obi-Wan and Luke see Leah's message pleading for help, Obi-Wan considered himself to be "getting too old for this sort of thing." 3. That Obi-Wan and Yoda wanted Luke to train and then face Vader because, by the time of episode V, Obi-Wan and Yoda together were too weak to finish the job. 4. That there was a time when Obi-Wan was younger, when he and Yoda knew that Vader had survived, but that Yoda had concluded that only Luke or Leah would ever be up to the task of killing Vader. 5. That by the beginning of ANH, even with the rebellion in full swing and Luke way past the normal age for training to begin, Obi-Wan still needed convincing from Leah to lift a hand in defense of the rebellion. So we're shown a picture by these films that there is some yet-unexplained reason that Obi-Wan would not still want to go after Vader at that point and that only a mortal threat to Leah would be enough to spur him once again to action. That strong impetus against action by Obi-Wan is explained by the circumstances surrounding their confrontations in the series. And the series also explains why specifically the danger to Leah would finally be sufficient to change Obi-Wan's mind and convince him to finally take up the mantle once more. ANH has Vader tell Obi-Wan that when they'd last met, Obi-Wan had been the master and Vader "the learner", but that now Vader was "the master" in the relationship. This is the only hint we're given as to the nature of that "last" confrontation. We're not given a timepoint for it. However, this state of affairs applies equally to both the ep.-III fight, _and_ to the subsequent battle in OWK. But that being said, there's one other clue from the films as to the history of Obi-Wan's involvement with Vader post-RotS: Leah's message states, "Years ago, you served my father in the Clone Wars. Now, he begs you to help him in his struggle against the Empire." As we'll eventually learn, Leah has this account wrong. Bail's last involvement with Obi-Wan was not in the Clone Wars, but subsequent to them, with both men's participation in the rebellion. But Leah knows this at the time she records the message. She is leaving that detail out for operational security. She knows Obi-Wan well enough to know that he'll immediately understand the assistance that she's really referring to and that this reference can have the needed impact on Obi-Wan to spur him to action. IOW, she already knows when she records that message, she knows from her and her father's personal history with Obi-Wan in the struggle against the Sith, that that history has prevented him from rejoining the fight, and that only a personal reference by her to that history has any hope of changing his mind. But take a moment and reflect: what is it about that history that places such a strong hold on Obi-Wan? What would explain the known facts that Obi-Wan has long known Vader survived the first confrontation, but that Obi-Wan has never til then felt obligated to go back and finally settle it one way or the other? It lies in the fact that he HAD, in fact, confronted him again, and found that, as he told Yoda here in the present video, he could never actually do it *because he could not bring himself to accept the responsibility for it!* Leah knew this, and worded her message accordingly. She said the one thing that only she could have said, to convince him it was worth it for him to actually be the final cause of Vader's death. The series OWK, with the length and structure of an epic film trilogy, tells the story of the events that led Leah, and finally Obi-Wan (through her), to this understanding.
@Gimil38 Absolutely nothing in what I've written overrides the fourth episode, as proven irrefutably by the fact you haven't cited a single thing that does. In fact most of my points were drawn directly from it and TESB, which you'd know if you actually read and assimilated the comment. But if you're going to say I made something up, GROW UP and state exactly what you think I made up!
@Gimil38 2/ Just realized your lack of reading ability has caused you to to think I speculated on the existence of the rebellion during the 17-odd years between the prequels and the OT. So you apparently believe there was no rebellion at the time of ANH, or it was not known to Obi-Wan, both of which are clearly refuted by that episode. YOU are the one who has overridden that episode, *and you are the one who's made up a new set of facts (sans rebellion) for that period!* What an utter farce that you want to strike at my supposed political beliefs rather than get your facts straight in your mind.
That’s why R2 never listens to Luke when he tells him to stay with the ship. The last time he listened to Anakin and stayed with the ship, Anakin never came back.
Absolutely my favorite of the prequels. I remember watching this one in the theater on a midnight premier. Everyone in the theater was sniffing and some crying. At the very least most were stunned. The emotional weight of this movie is very heavy. Also first time watching you. Definitely will watch more 🥰
@@ariavengerAnakin's descent into darkness was well portrayed. Because some Jedi never completely loved him, didn't respect him, didn't trust him, didn't take him seriously and even despised him. As a child before Obi-Wan started teaching him, he was hated and psychologically bullied by other children "Anakin is a slave to his feelings" and that was only because of envy because he was much more gifted and skilled than them. . . .And many other things and sufferings he and his padawan, Ashoka Tano, the Jedi like to cause. Yoda during the Clone Wars, he met the spirit of Darth Bane in Sitt's tomb, which is created by the rule of two. And later in his visions he saw Anakin becoming Darth Vader and didn't do anything about it because I thought it wasn't worth it. Anakin was a slave all his life - Tatuine, Jedi, Love, Dark Side. He became a father figure to Qui-gon Jinn, during his stay in the temple he was psychologically bullied and called by others "Anakin slaves to his own feelings", he lost his mother, the Jedi never married him all the time and without proper evidence he accused Ashoka and caused her to leave and finally he was afraid of losing Padmé. The only and worst support given the events was Palpatine who was a fatherly substitute for Anakin from the beginning. When he used Mace Windu's hand and after killing the Jedi he was already in the dark as the dark side itself showed him to the planet Mortis The One Son. On Mustafar, Padme almost got him from the dark side, but Obi-Wan discovered him and screwed it up. Anakin "Vader" built his castle on Mustafar and thanks to the two sbosobs he tried to revive Padmé but he could not see it due to the fact that Luke and Leya were already born, they were the only ones preventing it with their existence. Too bad he didn't find "Word between Wolrds" on the planet Lothal. He would create an alternate Reality or go through all of history. ;) . . . You have to find out about the lost 20 Jedi like Count Dooku, about the fates of Jedi with the ability to see the future, young apprentices who were not taken by any Jedi masters to learn, who showed little talent for the force and were not shown to the temple which in some cases was quite drastic, . .. Blinded by ego, aronance, pride, absolute help to people and not following the path of forces. Honor to the exceptions and one of the true Jedi was Master Fey. The Jedi and the Fallen Jedi (Sith) have betrayed the memory and message of their common ancestors of the Je'daii Order by their actions and the endless battles of their Civil War. 😊 May the force be with you. And may you lead the force. 🖐️
18:30 *Yes* That's exactly the point. Anakin's loyalty to the Jedi is already hanging by a thread; he philosophically disagrees with many of the tenets of the Jedi Code, yet he clings to it because he feels like it's the only thing keeping him from spiraling and doing impulsive things like.... wiping out a village of Sand People. The Jedi disregard their Code when it is convenient for them. THAT is what Anakin takes issue with. If the Jedi disregard their own ethics like this, what makes them so different from the Sith, who have no real code?
Ari, you just got a new subscriber. Not only because I find your reactions fun and very insightful, but also because of how you stood up for yourself against a viewer who apparently thinks you owe him something for the entertainment you provide for free. You have my respect and I look forward to watching more of your videos. :)
Thank you so much 🥺 some people said I was super rude for that. I don’t want to be a mean person at all, but I’m not gonna let myself get talked to like that either. I appreciate your support hunn 🫶🏽
George also cut out a whole subplot of Palpatine lying to Anakin about Padme having an affair with Obi Wan which strengthens the context of some of their dialogue
I just binged all your Star Wars reactions and I have to say it was very cheerful to watch you fall into this rabbit hole with us ^^ Now there is only 5 more movies, 4 animated and 4 live action series to go XD (Also just an off note: Each video you're just getting prettier ^^)
They had concept drawings where they were gonna give Anakin a combination mohawk and ponytail for this film, so I'd say the hair they went with in the final film was a pretty good choice.
Yeah no one who has never seen star wars is ever actually ready to see the fall of Anakin they may claim that they can't wait but lay are never truly ready to see what happens
23:18 This is, the last time the two of them will interact as friend...this is in the film to show what was lost in the wonderful relationship between Obi and Anakin. 37:55 This scene features the entire cast and crew of this movie....
Anakin did actually have the abilitynto see into the future, it was one of his gifts, why he was the only human to ever win a podrace, he knew what was coming up before he saw it. Some say sidious sent him those dreams, but for me its always been down to his foresight. Love the reaction btw. ROTS is my favourite out of all the movies.
You make so many references to other nerdy and pop culture things that It's absolutely mind-boggling how you've never seen these. I love your reactions.
Star Wars absolutely never spoke to me lol , my brother tried to get me to watch new hope when I was little but it just never stuck 🤷🏽♀️ and thank you so much 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Anakin did bring balance to the force when he saved his son and atomized the emperor.....bring an end to the star wars saga, which was a story about the tradgedy of Anakin Skywalker, the rest were just side characters, including Luke... Jedi vs Sith: Sith: "Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken." Jedi: "There is no emotion, there is peace. There is no ignorance, there is knowledge. There is no passion, there is serenity. There is no chaos, there is harmony"
Yea, Anakin fulfilled the Prophecy Qui Gon saw in Anakin. Lucas telling the story of how Anakin went from a SLAVE to a great jedi, to his downfall to a powerful Sith and to him fulfilling the Prophecy by atomizing(George Lucas word) the emperor and saving his son, bringing balance to the force.
The Clone Wars was actually made as a kids show for the Disney Channel. It's not until season 3 or season 4 when it was dropped by Disney and picked up by Netflix that it starts to get good.
you dont have to watch the whole clone wars, theres a list of essential episodes for the overall story, i would def give it another try, it really brings a lot to these characters and their impact.
Clone Wars definitely made me care for the clones and the other main characters in a way that made this movie so much more depressing especially order 66.
Anakin was supposedly 22-23 in this film then he spent another 23 years being darth Vader.I feel like if the council made him a master they could’ve avoided all this
Okay, but the whole thing is that he CLEARLY didn't deserve to be a Master. That's the whole thing. Palpatine gaslit Anakin into thinking he was ready and had earned the rank when at the same time Palps knew the Jedi Council wasn't even considering Masterhood.
I always find it crazy that Anakin basically becomes evil to keep Padme from dying, yet, ironically, it's the things he does and plans to do to "save her" is what causes her to lose the will to live! Essentially, his dream of her death, becomes self fulfilling, meaning that everything he does to stop the dreams from becoming reality is exactly what causes them to become true.
When Anakin says to Palpatine on Dooku's flagship "his fate will be the same as ours" he means "either we all get out or none of us do" but he was unknowingly predicting the future - Obi-Wan Palpatine and Anakin all die at the hands of a Sith on a Death Star.
my favorite star wars movie :) i got to watch this in theatres with my dad as a kid when it first came out and it was a life changing moment. Anakin was my first heartbreak for sure !
Anakin ultimately did fulfill the prophecy and bring balance to the Force. After being redeemed by his son Luke, Vader was destroyed and Anakin restored, and Anakin defeated the last Sith Lord Darth Sidious, fulfilling the prophecy. Just the long way round.
Order 66 is a contingency order that can be issued by the Chancellor that orders the clones to eliminate the entire Jedi Command with extreme prejudice.
"The Dark Side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural." Gives me chills every time. Love that opera scene. Hey, Ari! Well, you got wise to Palpatine before the reveal but still had a great reaction! Lucas provided visual and vocal cues since "Phantom Menace" that Palpatine and Sidious were one and the same. Ian McDiarmid plays the Emperor in all the Star Wars films in which he appears. He's the one character having a total blast throughout the prequels because he's pulling everybody's strings! His seduction of Anakin is masterful. The absolute best line of the Prequel trilogy goes to Natalie Portman: "So this is how liberty dies...with thunderous applause." Wookiees live for hundreds of years! In "Revenge of the Sith", Chewbacca is 181 years old! It is a popular belief that Padme's life force was drained out of her and channeled into Anakin by Palpatine which is why her death and his re-birth are juxtaposed by Lucas. Therefore, Palpy is directly responsible for the death of the person he convinced Anakin he could save prompting his betrayal of the Jedi in the first place! A very cruel manipulation. One of the Jedi Order's problems is that they had become ossified by dogma and had lost touch with their true purpose. This made them vulnerable to manipulation by the Sith and blind to their own shortcomings. Iconoclasts like Qui-Gon sought esoteric knowledge beyond ordained teachings to plumb deeper truths and were viewed as troublesome for suggesting the Order had become complacent and stagnant. The knowledge Yoda imparts to Obi-Wan at the end is his discovery of the path to immortality. His spiritual journey is chronicled in the animated "Clone Wars" when Liam Neeson returns as Qui-Gon Jinn's spirit to instruct Yoda in the deepest mysteries of the Force. Jedi immortality manifests as the Force-ghosts you see in the Classic trilogy. This was an ability unknown to the Order until Qui-Gon contacts Yoda which is why there are no Force-ghosts in the Prequel trilogy. The Jedi are all but exterminated by Order 66 much like how the Knights Templar were rounded up on a single day, Friday the 13th, in October 1307, by order of the French King Philip IV in a series of coordinated, simultaneous arrests. Emperor Palpatine initiated a smear campaign to vilify the Jedi and expunged any mention of them from the historical record. Philip IV did the same to the Templars demonizing them with false allegations of larceny, murder, sexual perversion, sedition and Satanism that led to their mass burning at the stake with the blessing of the Papacy! Palpy achieved control of a galaxy with his scheme while Philip was simply dodging the crushing debt he owed the Order! The clones are tragic pawns in Palpatine's scheme. They were bred by the Republic and were loyal to their creators serving through thick and thin with their Jedi Generals. The animated "Clone Wars" does a magnificent job of individualizing the troopers. However, they were engineered with a fail-safe to force them to obey executive decisions without question. Initiating Order 66 flips the switch in their brains forcibly turning them against the Jedi whom they previously would have died for. It's a horrifying betrayal not least of which to the clones themselves. Although the Separatist leadership was led by Count Dooku, they weren't privy to the collusion between Dooku and Supreme Chancellor Palpatine. Each Sith Lord led a faction in the Clone Wars to play both sides against each other creating chaos they could manipulate to their personal advantage! The populations of the worlds which aligned with one faction or the other truly believed in their respective causes which were socioeconomic and geopolitical. The layman had no idea he was just a pawn in Palpatine's grand scheme. With the Jedi exterminated, the greatest threat to his plan was taken off the board and he sent Vader to dispose of the Separatist leadership so he could consolidate power over the organizations they represented. The Separatist worlds relied on the support of those industries and institutions so those worlds would fall in line once those support systems were firmly in the Emperor's grip. The japor snippet pendant Amidala was buried wearing was the same one Anakin carved for her in "Phantom Menace". Senator Bail Organa orders C-3PO's mind to be wiped but R2-D2's CPU is left intact. Artoo REMEMBERS EVERYTHING! Your next stop is to revisit the Vader-Kenobi duel for an incredible update in SC-38 RE-IMAGINED by UA-camr FXitinPost!
"The Dark Side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural." Especially when you know about the Extended Universe of Star Wars. That Darth Sidious/Palpatine's Master, Darth Plagueis knew how to manipulate midichlorians to... create life and cheat death. His master saved himself after Death (from being killed by his apprentice Palpatine). I was really hoping that Supreme Leader Snoke in the sequels was Darth Plagueis. This theory about Snoke, to me, was more solidified because of the theory that Darth Plagueis created Anakin and infused him with a high Midichlorian count that led to him being so strong in the Force. Ultimately, Plagueis planned Palpatine's takeover of the Republic and Anakin's downfall.
15:22 Even though everything Yoda warned Anakin about came true, this showcases why the Jedi council had fallen and was blinded by the dark side. They thought they were beyond everyone else, better than everyone else. The arrogance of believing that mortal urges were supposed to be beneath them caused them to turn a blind eye to Anakin's problems, assuming he was just an immature Jedi who wasn't supposed to care. But all that trauma with his mother on Tatooine wasn't going anywhere.
Not sure you'll see this as it doesn't take long to be late to Star Wars or Star Trek comments. Your reaction & excitement to Ep 3 was great! In the end (just my opinion) the Vader helmet & suit (even tho needed as life support) were a prison for him. He was trapped by his own ambitions & choices & fears & then there was no redemption for him until Luke saved him. Star Wars is such a great story. It's so much more than just space battles.
19:24 yeah, Qui Gon is probably the closest we’ve gotten in canon Star Wars to a “Grey Jedi.” Grey Jedi are Jedi who while understanding there it a right way through the light side of the Force also understand that the rigid rules and stark black/white of the Jedi Order doesn’t work. They’re more chaotic good, if you get that reference. They’re good, but capable of bending the rules where they need to be bent in order to get done what needs done. And unlike the rest of the Jedi Order constantly focused on the future and the “doctrine” of the Jedi, Qui Gon focused on the “Living Force,” he focused on the now. He literally taught Obi Wan “be mindful of the future, but not at the expense of the moment.” And Qui Gon was probably the only Jedi of the generation that could have taught a disgunctional and often rebellious Jedi like Anakin. Because Anakin needed that Grey. The rigid structure of the rules of the Order didn’t vibe with Anakin’s rebellious nature and the guilt from that drove him further and further down that path. So “Duel of the Fates” really was about determining Anakin’s future. If Qui Gon had lived he would have trained Anakin and Anakin would have been fine and become the Chosen One he was supposed to be. But Qui Gon lost. It took 15+ years and two more movies, but the Sith won the moment Darth Maul killer Qui Gon.
If you notice that's the last time r2 actually stays with the ship when he's told is when Anakin tells him in this one on mustafar. R2 doesn't make the same mistake twice 😂
Been binge watching your reactions and you are doing such a great job. You do this channel how you want, it makes you unique and I have loved all of your reactions. As for the prequels this one was by far the best and hardest hitting. I can tell that you are not just doing this for the views because you are wanting to find out more about the lore from others and it makes these reactions even better in my opinion because I can see the real feelings you are getting from these absolute classics. I would definitely repeat what others have said and at least look up the essential episodes for the Clone Wars series as it will add so much to your Star Wars journey and it cuts down the viewing time by a ton. Plus you get to see everyone's favorite, Ahsoka Tano. Believe me they wrote her character to be annoying in the first couple seasons but she soon becomes an amazing character.
The clones aren't really in on the plan, they just had chips in their brains that switched to "kill Jedi mode" once Order 66 began. They thus were, in a way, mind-controlled, destroying Jedi against their own wills.
31:59 R2 got told to stay on the ship by Ani not just once. This is one of the saddest scenes for me cause it´s very impactful That´s the last time he saw his master The last time he will listen to stay on the ship later when Luke tells him he will not let that happen to his son Because we all now R2 could´ve saved the galaxy and Ani like he did many times before
21:57 After watching the Clone Wars show and seeing the events that unfolded there, this line hits so much harder for me now. The same goes for this scene here at 24:56.
"I feel like Palpatine told him this on purpose"... Rewatch episode VI when the Emperor says, "Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen." He's been plotting and guiding all this for a very long time.
I would like to suggest that you watch Episodes 7, 8 and 9 to judge for yourself the quality of the sequels. For me, Episode 7 in particular brought back all the nostalgic feelings of A New Hope. You're lovely and a great pleasure to watch.
Order 66 sucks worse once you watch the clone wars and get to know the characters. Commander Cody will always be my favorite character! P.S: loved this reaction i subscribed
i think Anakin himself explained in episode two, that the Jedi are encouraged to express their feelings. but they themselves couldn't hold on to those feelings, as they could cloud their judgement or force them to make decisions that would do more harm than good. like what Yoda said to him, attachment can lead to jealousy.
Cutest reactor I've ever seen. Also, when you're a long-time fan and hear "What's order 66?" the Frozen meme "I'm going to tell him" comes to mind. I'd totally be down to see more SW reactions from Ari. I recommend doing the Clone Wars, Rebels and The Bad Batch now. First couple of CW seasons are rough but once you get deep into it you'll seen the franchise differently and why so many love Dave Filoni now. Also Socials?
Thank you!! Yeah I held in to not watching Star Wars cause the shock on people’s faces was so funny , but I had to give in eventually & I’m glad I did 🥺 & all I have is TikTok , it’s the same handle , but I RARELY post on it lol
I just finished watching all six of your reactions to Star Wars, and I loved all of them, I feel like it's due to the fact that you're really honest and Invested when coming in to these films.
First time watching anything on your channel. Sure, Clone Wars is a lot of seasons, but there is plenty of stuff happening in it that still affects the franchise, but more important, I would say it shows greatly how Anakin and Obi-Wan really worked together and really had a friendship. Also, the Clone Wars series gets really good in later seasons. The sequels are kinda weak, but I can recommend Rogue One and the Andor TV show, which are incredible good live action Star Wars.
What makes this movie even sadder is it was confirmed by the director that Padme didn’t die bc of child birth or being choked, but because she didn’t want to live without anakin and was heartbroken that he switched. It even says they don’t know the reason she’s dying, but they know she just doesn’t have the will to live anymore. So if anakin didn’t give in to palpatine she would’ve lived because palpatine put those visions in his head so he could gain full control.
The ending is pure poetry. The birth of the skywalker twins at the same time that Lord Vader is born
But he's officially named Darth Vader before he ever gets the suit and prosthetics and mask, he becomes Vader right after he cuts off Mace Windu's arm.
Padme fades with the light, Vader rises with the dark, and the twins represent the hope for the future.
I've learned 1 simple fact from SW reactions. No matter age, race, religion, country....all girls love R2 and Chewie 🙂
I don't think sex matters on that 1, who doesn't like R2 and Chewie
@@hkiller57 I get ya there but girls turn the dial up to 11 with them two. I had an oddball SW gf once, her 2 favs were Yoda and BB-8.
Buddy forgot C-3PO
of all the non starwars fans i know they all agree anakin is some fine man 😂
@@hkiller57nah to me and many dudes i know they are just love able side characters for my girl they are the best and their favorite even tho yes r2 is 10x more important than chewie and other characters
This is literally why qui va maul is literally called duel of fates. It decides the fate of anakin
I think this is a perfect example
Healthy attachment is knowing when you have to let go,
If I love my child, but won't let him go to school because he might get hit by a car, that's an unhealthy attachment cause I'm overly worried about things outside of my control.
Watching the Clone Wars definitely makes the Order 66 moment even more heartbreaking to watch.
"Pow, right in the kissa" - Peter Griffin
It was already heartbreaking. More heartbreaking? Because they retconned in a bunch of characters to make you more sad? Huh? By retconned I don't just mean Ahsoka (AhRetcona) I mean making multiple characters act completely differently than they do in the movies...............

I love when Yoda walks into the Senate, the two guards turn to stop him, and he just hand-waves like "Bitch, you thought."
In episode 6 where luke was telling vader that there's still good in him... he reminded him of padme.
Likewise, when luke was being electrocuted by the emperor, vader was in the same position he was in with mace windu, but this time it was his son.
George always said that the trilogies were like poetry, they rhyme.
I noticed that parallel too when I was editing , I love it
At the beginning of the movie when Palpatine tells Anakin to leave Obi-Wan behind and Anakin replies: "His fate will be the same as ours"
All three of them die on the Death Star.
Well, in between episodes 2 and 3 they lived through the entire clone wars together.
No matter how much prep you’ve had, watching Anakin fall to the dark is so shocking/heartbreaking 😢💔
In the end Anakin did bring balance to the force in episode VI.
Just a shame, so many lives could’ve been spared tho.
@ariavenger Well he was the prophecy to bring balance to the force (too many jedi) and destroy the sith (Sidious), it had to happen sooner or later
@T1Top that's not how balancing the force works. There's no such thing as too much jedi

This is legit my favourite movie of all time and I got to see it in the theatre and I can never forget it.
"The b!tch is fabulous" 😂😂
Palpatine was the apprentice who murdered his master. This is how Palpatine rose to power. Palpatine is the Sith lord.
Saw this in theatres as a 9 year old on opening day. I’ll never forget it
I cry EVERY SINGLE TIME I watch this movie. And I stay cursing Palpatine tf out lmao 😂😂😂
Hope you continue with Clone Wars. It really is worth it.
To be fair, it doesn’t pick up steam until season 3
if you dont care about the retconning of the starwars lore LOL
I gave-up and am now just watching the “essential episodes” playlist on Disney+. Otherwise I’d still be stuck on “Bombad Jedi.”
@@Prince_the_OneI really don’t think she does or anyone who’s watched clone wars 💀
The first line of the Jedi Code is 'There is no emotion. There is peace.' It's an acknowledgement of your emotions, but not letting them control you.
I love how everyone gets excited when the clones arrive
7:27 Because in episode 1 Phantom Menace. Anakin thought of Obi Wan as an older brother and Qui Gon as a father figure. And after Qui Gon's death in episode 1 Phantom Menace Palpatine took over the father figure role for Anakin.
And i love that even when anakin did turn to the dark side he still ended up destroying the sith and brought balance to the force
Love these commentaries, your takes make me laugh so much. Hoping for more!
I love how so many people are just now watching the prequels. This is where the fun begins.
Great Reaction. I agree that Revenge of the Sith is the best part of the Saga, as you said it centers around all the other Movies links them together and has a excellent pacing.
Anakin's dreams and Padame's death is the classic tale of while trying to prevent a tragedy you end up causing it.
After that scene you know there's no 'easy return' for Anakin and it makes it all the more meaningful that in the end his redemption only happens 'in the eyes of his children' ... for the Galaxy he will remain stained forever by his deeds.
you really have some smart takes and I thought I was a star wars fan until you be teaching me when its your first time watching the movie lol
There's no problem with skipping Clone Wars. But i do recommend you see Rogue 1 and then the 6 episodes of Obi Wan Kenobi before going to the sequels. ✌🏼
And mando and ahsoka
But we also know from the films that:
1. Eventually, Obi-Wan learned that Vader had survived and had been "rebuilt" by the Emperor into "more machine than man", but that Obi-Wan had still spent many years avoiding him until leaving Tatooine with Luke.
2. That by the time Obi-Wan and Luke see Leah's message pleading for help, Obi-Wan considered himself to be "getting too old for this sort of thing."
It lies in the fact that he HAD, in fact, confronted him again, and found that, as he told Yoda here in the present video, he could never actually do it *because he could not bring himself to accept the responsibility for it!*
Leah knew this, and worded her message accordingly.

He would create an alternate Reality or go through all of history. ;)

*Yes*
That's exactly the point.
Apparently there's a cut concept/script of Padme at mustufar pulling a knife on Anakin. Honestly, I feel like that'd been more impactful.
George also cut out a whole subplot of Palpatine lying to Anakin about Padme having an affair with Obi Wan which strengthens the context of some of their dialogue
I had such a good time watching this! Always nice to see someone enjoy this movie for the first time. You’re also hilarious! Can’t wait for more.

(Also just an off note: Each video you're just getting prettier ^^)
They had concept drawings where they were gonna give Anakin a combination mohawk and ponytail for this film, so I'd say the hair they went with in the final film was a pretty good choice.
Yeah no one who has never seen star wars is ever actually ready to see the fall of Anakin they may claim that they can't wait but lay are never truly ready to see what happens
When she called out the emperor for looking nasty I couldn't stop laughing
23:18 This is, the last time the two of them will interact as friend...this is in the film to show what was lost in the wonderful relationship between Obi and Anakin. 37:55 This scene features the entire cast and crew of this movie....
33:31 my grandparents (Anakin and Padme) nearly divorced towards the end of the clone wars.

It was Palpoten's voice that gave it away in episode 1 for me & I watched episode IV in the theatre way back when.
Anakin did bring balance to the force when he saved his son and atomized the emperor.....bring an end to the star wars saga, which was a story about the tradgedy of Anakin Skywalker, the rest were just side characters, including Luke... Jedi vs Sith:
Sith: "Through passion, I gain strength. Through strength, I gain power. Through power, I gain victory. Through victory, my chains are broken."
Jedi: "There is no emotion, there is peace. There is no ignorance, there is knowledge. There is no passion, there is serenity. There is no chaos, there is harmony"
tragedy
Oh absolutely. Seasons 3-7 are amazing.
Clone Wars definitely made me care for the clones and the other main characters in a way that made this movie so much more depressing especially order 66.
36:46 If you look closely, you can see his first breath blow away the surrounding steam.
Anakin actually did complete the prophecy. In ep 6 he kills the emperor bringing balance to the force. George Lucas himself has said this
When Anakin says to Palpatine on Dooku's flagship "his fate will be the same as ours" he means "either we all get out or none of us do" but he was unknowingly predicting the future - Obi-Wan Palpatine and Anakin all die at the hands of a Sith on a Death Star.
my favorite star wars movie :) i got to watch this in theatres with my dad as a kid when it first came out and it was a life changing moment. Anakin was my first heartbreak for sure !
"anakin do something" me over screaming NO DONT DONT DO THAT ANAKIN DO NOTHING
The absolute best line of the Prequel trilogy goes to Natalie Portman: "So this is how liberty dies...with thunderous applause."
Wookiees live for hundreds of years!
"The Dark Side of the Force is a pathway to many abilities some consider to be unnatural."
Especially when you know about the Extended Universe of Star Wars.
Welcome to the essence of star wars. Its so beautiful
girl ur so funny i love watching ur content i hope you have an amazing day fr
🥺💖
Love you Ari, keep growing and doing your own thing.
He literally taught Obi Wan “be mindful of the future, but not at the expense of the moment.”
And Qui Gon was probably the only Jedi of the generation that could have taught a disgunctional and often rebellious Jedi like Anakin.
That line about Brett Cooper and Ben Shapiro was so under-rated. Busted out laughing at work
Been binge watching your reactions and you are doing such a great job.
Anakin technically did bring balance to the force…….because of his kids.
31:59 R2 got told to stay on the ship by Ani not just once.
This is one of the saddest scenes for me cause it´s very impactful
That´s the last time he saw his master
The last time he will listen to stay on the ship
later when Luke tells him he will not let that happen to his son
Because we all now R2 could´ve saved the galaxy and Ani like he did many times before
just remember hayden/anakin is joy, the whole freaking franchise is pointless without him
Out of all the reactions I’ves seen to episode 3. You’re my fav on. Your reactions to Anakin turning to Vader are sincere and pure.
I can confirm that there was no man with a dry eye in the theater with that final Obi-Wan and Anakin dialogue.
The suffering of lesser creatures, who feels some discomfort while watching this, are very-very sweet to see! :D
Lmaooo you’re funny 😂
@@ariavenger :D
21:57 After watching the Clone Wars show and seeing the events that unfolded there, this line hits so much harder for me now. The same goes for this scene here at 24:56.
Me too.
Great Reaction and Critics, this girl is a real Fan.
Am I worthy ? 🥺
Are you trying to distract us the same way Anakin distracted you on that scene you paused? asking for a friend 😏
🤣🤣🤣 y’all are too much
@@ariavenger What's good for the goose, etc 🤣
"I feel like Palpatine told him this on purpose"... Rewatch episode VI when the Emperor says, "Everything is proceeding as I have foreseen." He's been plotting and guiding all this for a very long time.
I would like to suggest that you watch Episodes 7, 8 and 9 to judge for yourself the quality of the sequels. For me, Episode 7 in particular brought back all the nostalgic feelings of A New Hope. You're lovely and a great pleasure to watch.
In clone wars it shows that there was chips in the clones head that made them turn on the jedi if Order 66 was activated
Order 66 sucks worse once you watch the clone wars and get to know the characters. Commander Cody will always be my favorite character!
P.S: loved this reaction i subscribed
Thank you so much! The positive comments keep my motivated 🤍🫶🏽
i think Anakin himself explained in episode two, that the Jedi are encouraged to express their feelings. but they themselves couldn't hold on to those feelings, as they could cloud their judgement or force them to make decisions that would do more harm than good. like what Yoda said to him, attachment can lead to jealousy.
Life lesson. Art is never garbage. Watch the sequels. Embrace what you love about them and let what you don't fade into the background. 🙂
That was poetry 🫶🏽
I can't stand the sequels myself, but that's a wise perspective. Indeed, art is subjective. Take what you will from it, and let others do the same.
@@SauceMeGud I only really hate number one it just could have been so much better
The sequels are mockery and ruination of art
the sequels aren't art. Nothing good about them
After watching this 😅 im.gjnna subscribe I had fun watching thi with ya I laughed and got emotional 😅
Thank you so much Richard 🥺🙏🏽
Cutest reactor I've ever seen. Also, when you're a long-time fan and hear "What's order 66?" the Frozen meme "I'm going to tell him" comes to mind. I'd totally be down to see more SW reactions from Ari.
I recommend doing the Clone Wars, Rebels and The Bad Batch now. First couple of CW seasons are rough but once you get deep into it you'll seen the franchise differently and why so many love Dave Filoni now.
Also Socials?
She’s not going to fuck you mate. Get a life
About time also I feel bad as always for the clones
Best reaction i have seen yet
Ari loved your review!! Was flames 🔥
A politician turned him on to the Dark side.
And yes we do know that but Anakin still brought balance to the force when he destroyed the emporer on the death star
