One of my greatest lightbulb moments was learning "pitch controls speed, throttle controls attitude" while digging through the classic book "Stick and Rudder". When you're first learning it seems the other way would be logical but once you approach it that way and truly begin to understand trimming your plane it makes an insane difference in your flying.
This is really really good! I'd been using some of these techniques for a while already as I love to do bush flying in msfs. I once did a trip from Anchorage Alaska to Sitka Alaska in a cessna 152 in the sim. It was a lot like this in the mountain areas. Cool channel! Keep it up! :)
Very instructive, not to mention a beautiful choice of locations. IMHO Your bush flying skills quite admirable. Did you learn all of this in the flight sim environment; I ask as it seems you have had the opportunity for real world learning also. In any event this vid goes on the saved playlist of invaluable instruction videos. Thank you one again.
Thanks AvAngel - I found that really helpful with the clear demonstration of the slip in particular - seen this done on videos a few times without much explanation, but your walk through gave me a much better understanding of the procedure.
That was excellent. If I want to cover distance or cache scenery quickly, I fly the Vertigo. The rest of the time I spend in bush planes. I'm looking forward to trying group trips.
for crossing peaks and valleys, you pick a point on the obstacle and note it's position in the windscreen. given a fixed attitude and rate of climb, if the position of that point starts to descend in the windscreen you will clear the obstacle. if it's rising in the windscreen, you won't clear the obstacle. it's the same as doing an approach with an aiming point. basic mountain flying skill source:1200h of mountain flying and glider racing in BC
Thank you, thank you. I went, and downloaded this airplane and I really like it a lot. It flies really good. I don't know if they updated it from the time after you made this video put it flies and handles great.
You fly much more controlled when you're not delivering 'groceries' to Pablo or taking some shady characters into the Veld. Hehehe... I've learned the hard way how to climb out of a valley successfully.
Did you factor wind into which side of the valley you chose to fly down? Down drafts etc lol "here's a perfect example!" *turns at 45 degrees bank angle no flaps slow air speed* 🤣
It can be a factor, upwind is better obviously, but staying away from the up and down draft area right along the wall is preferable as the air gets real turbulent there, the flow is better away from the valley sides, off to ONE side, but not right up against it.
Msfs throws around every aircraft like that nevermind the size, airliner or the kodiak 100 at all altitudes and at high speeds with wind, clouds etc turned off, clear sky's. I think somethings wrong.
Was not even searching for a video of that first airfield. Went there last year to go fly fishing. Beautiful irl.

I love that book. Read or listen to it at least once a year.
@@cubs56698489 absolutely, my CFI recommended it early on. Life got in the way of finishing my ppl training but it still translates well to sim.
22:40 beautifully done! I call that maneuver “hanging it on the prop” because you’re really using power to control your descent
Near and dear to me. The creek that joins Johnson Creek at the very south end of the runway and the lake it flows out of are named for my family.
Thanks for flying out the taily ! I hope we'll have access to the 172 classic files in SU10 so this variant will stay alive.
Thanks for making these versions! I love them so much :D Chances are we will as they stated it would be decripted so there is that :D
Yes, thanks for making these, I love this one and the trike.
So this is what you were up to..... Looks amazing! - I also hope they open it all up, so many more options would be available for those in the know

Real world GA flying yes, all my bush experience is in the sim and from books/ others admittedly.
Beautiful flying, both the technique and the geography!
You should do more videos like this one. This was pretty great!
I really enjoy a bit of bush flying so this video was really great info! Thanks!
Glad you enjoyed it!
Thanks a bunch AvAngel! I slip all the time. I really like your explaining each step and why you do it. Thanks again!
I LOVE your videos xxx from a fan in South Africa 🇿🇦

That’s good information right there. I hadn’t thought of it that way.
More... lots more of these please😃

One-wheel... that would be Trent I'm sure! Great lesson, need to practice side slipping more as I often end up very high on approach.
Love your content ❤ keep it up. More bush flying content pretty please🙏
Great, very enjoyable, will give that one a try. Thank you.
Practical guides are quite usefull as also the the reveiws
Solid tips. Good video
Can you do an instruction video about how to trim properly.? I know there are quite a few already, but I like your teaching style.
Excellent flying and instruction! Much thanks.
How funny, I was actually eating some cantaloupe when you called her a 'spicy little cantaloupe'....
:D
I would love to see you try some short takeoff and landings with the Big Radials Grumman Goose.
That thing is.... not stol LOL but its not impossible.
@@AvAngel the manual actually gives instructions on how to do it.
Thanks for the video and the tips. Very handy.
I dont think bush flying gets enough love
great informative video, love this kind of thing.
That was really useful, thank you !

Great tips! I dont fly that slow on approuch in the sim. 55 Knots is my landing speed and didnt know that 40 is possible.
Depends on the approach. This certainly isn't a standard thing... its a potential for super short.
Thanks for the answer!
i Enjoy your welcome tips whit pleasure.

Hello, love your videos. I was wondering what head-tracking you use? Seems very fluid and precise.
I use the grassmonkey simulations puck2 😀 I love it
very good landing
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
I wonder when Asobo is gonna fix the gps flightplan bug

Are you using any sort of terrain mod?
No aside from airports
@@AvAngel Thanks for the answer. Somehow I think your Sim is looking better than mine haha
The Zippy sport is particularly prone to a nose over on landing especially on grass....................................
what is the ZIPPY Sport, can you link me to it? thanks in advance so very much!!!!
always enjoy your videos AvAgel -> THANK YOU! 💖
Is this a dangerous aircraft to fly?
Not at all
i dont think it's a good idea to trigger the stall warning alarm so early at a landing, one mistake and you are dead
It's actually a fairly well documented technique. Riding the horn in a high alpha approach gets done quite a bit.

It’s smooth most of the time for me
We need that aircraft on Xbox
