Ya know? Chris. You’ve been a guiding star in my life since early high school. I watch this interview when I have self doubt. It reminds me that no one knows what’s exactly going on. We’re all human. I got to meet and speak with Chris a number of years ago. My daughter had hip surgery at CHLA and early one morning in walks Chris and a few others. I looked at him and said "I know you". He introduced himself and with the title of Space shuttle commander, I introduced myself as an Aerospace worker and he immediately thanked me for working on an STS project that I was involved with at the time. Very nice man. Gave my daughter an autograph. Thanks Chris, was great to meet you.

I have never commented on a youtube video, but, after 40yrs of working in social service I felt that I had to comment. Thank you Col. Hadfield. This video was calming, informative and relevant. I have asked people to watch and share this video.
Having said all that, as humans let's also remember the ever increasing struggle and suffering we inflict on all the life/nature around us, next time you see a stray cat or dog, know they are fighting to stay alive and yearn to be loved, lets care about the rivers and seas we so harshly pollute, the forests we hack down for our co consumption, before you about to crush and kill a bug, know they are just living and we happen to live where they do to, let's in short start respecting caring for everything around us, we forget we SHARE this beautiful planet, maybe covid-19 reminded us, are insignificant here in our lockdowns and fear, let's respect where we live or it will cease to respect us as a race, let's love and respect ALL life around us ❤

Yeah it's all about the individual nowadays... me, me, me. I'm no different and at 29 struggle with this idolization of the self. I'm ironically sort of torn between caring deeply and not caring at all. Bottom line we're ALL individuals with personal struggles, living and coexisting on this Earth. A big rock in space
Thank you Col. Hadfield for your concise efforts to help connect us to visions and understandings of the conditions in which we all, here on earth are a part in. Remarkable. 👍😎
Mr. Hadfield truly has love/understanding and connection to this Earth/world - he appreciates/cherishes and honors the natural wonders of the Earth; not to take anything from it but to explore and share his knowledge/understanding & experiences with all. Thank you!
Thank you Chris Hadfield for sharing your experience as an astronaut with all of us down on terafirma. Your story is not only compelling but very inspiring.
In listening to this. The lesson is understanding what reality is. Being human. I am reminded of kindness, sharing, truly connecting to other. To share experiences in our lives. If you can open yourself to living. (Without being foolish, paranoid or fearful about it) To all of its human and inhuman forms...honestly, you will live a good and full life. Because, life is a blessing. At least that is I understanding.
I remember being interested in Chris Hadfield when he became a Canadian Astronaut so I decided to do a little researching on this man . After reading and learning about his journey to become a Canadian Astronaut, it was quite apparent of how blessed this man was intellectually. To summarize simply Chris Hadfield He is basically an overachiever to the N-th degree. A man of complete brilliance and abilities that are frankly second to none. Just ask the boys at top gun:) I regard him as one of the finest Canadians of all time. Listening to this just amplifies this . Well done ........ and well said Fairwinds from the @captains.chair
What a good kind soul he is, at least from every video I've ever seen of him. And he's lived enough life for 5 lifetimes. I wish to be half the person he is one day. And on a side note, I could really see him being an actor, just something about him, the look, the charisma etc etc.
Definitely, I,m sure like many others out there, I would love to see a biography (movie) of his life, family, career etc etc He reminds me of Burt Lancaster.
Yes- we all need significance. We’ve come a long way since that movie -“Around the world in 80 days.” One couldn’t go into the stratosphere without coming back awestruck and poetic.
@caprice.t I was the biggest believer . In ufo and other life forms and planets. My uncle is a 1 star general in us air force he married my mom sister. My point is I come from good family and not trying to be a hater or be difficult. But from what I have seen ....I honestly and respectfully am not convinced they landed and came back . Don't hate me.
As someone getting to interviews for jobs I know I would do well, to then not perform well in the interview and not get the jobs, my confident is rock bottom. Blaming my personality has made me feel very low. This video has helped me feel better.
"Everyone is looking for significance" Not even 1 minute into the vid and Hadfield hits us with a powerful line. This resonates with me because I feel like my life is thrown into chaos when my college of choice revoked their acceptance right before the semester started. I have wasted 1 year at community because I was unsure about my career choice (I still am but more sure of my current choice). The most beautiful part of it was that it was coming from someone who personally saw how small and insignificant Earth is when compared to space.
Just his genuine thankfulness tells you what a special person he is. This is a trait we should all aspire to have. It can hugely change the way you look at life. Humanity owes him more for his hard work and bravery to get there he chooses to be thankful.
Keep up the good work, people need encouragement in this crazy times! You should never be afraid to fail in life, fear is very unhealthy. People forget that to be successful you must fall a few times, its all part of the journey. Wishing everybody here a very prosperous 2020
If the only thing the space program ever "produced" is the wisdom of the first three minuets of this video, then it has all been worth it, and more. Thank you.
Astronauts have such an amazing opportunity. If everyone had a chance to see this beauty from such a perspective, maybe we'd all have a little more humility. And maybe the world just might be a better place.
What this man has to say is amazing. He has shown incredible insight into the human condition; and he has shared with us his wonder at being able to look down upon our beautiful world. I wish more of us could do this. One day, perhaps.
You are the best..humble, intelligent and kind. Thank you. I have and still struggle every day with severe depression and anxiety like so many others. I am 56 and it does not get any easier to find reasons to stay here...your words are so poignant, thank you.
This is the type of person you need as a leader! Very inspirational. Earth has made him the man he is right now. He can have a hand in improving people's perspective about the world they live in.
Thank you Col Hadfield. You are a wise man, so much wiser than me. I love the eloquent way in which you speak about humanity, our planet and what it means for you to be an astronaut. So few astronauts do this: Explain how it FEELS. I love the astronauts of the Apollo era - Armstrong, Lovell, Bean, Aldrin etc etc but they were sometimes kind of dismissive about this. They were just 'doing a job' which was incredible but did not always speak in a way we can relate to on earth. Btw, I have your book of photos and they are amazing.
At 20, I knew everything. I was stupid, and would not have listened to myself. Therefore, my answer to the question “Wouldn’t you like to be young again?” is invariably “No way.”
Canadians will say he is a national treasure, I think this is inaccurate; he is a global treasure! Truly one of the most incredible people of our generation x

Definitely, I,m sure like many others out there, I would love to see a biography (movie) of his life, family, career etc etc He reminds me of Burt Lancaster.
Canadian grace at its finest✌️
Chris makes me feel proud of being a human
One World. One People. We're all in this thing together.
"If you don't believe in yourself no one else will." -Kobe Bryant
journey of life Yes! It is absolutely true👍
but why he believed that the helicopter gonna crash
Rapist...
he wasn't the first person to say that.
Abraham Lincoln said it first in an Instagram post.
Yes- we all need significance.
We’ve come a long way since that movie -“Around the world in 80 days.” One couldn’t go into the stratosphere without coming back awestruck and poetic.
Is that about the fake moon landing?
@caprice.t
I was the biggest believer .
@Chris Manzi it's sad and it's all just killed my spirit about everything
U r right on endless deception.
Good times.
@caprice.t moon landing was a hoax.Just research. Van allen Belt is an impassable firmament.
@@justinamusyoka4986 What so they faked it six times and threw apollo 13 into the mix just for dramatic effect? Interesting.
Travel certainly gives you some perspective on life. Can only imagine how space travel affects, certainly has given this gentleman some great insight.
The man did travel....extensively !
Much needed in Quarantine times - World needs more sympathy, empathy and grace.
I could listen to him for ever and ever. imagine having this man as your professor. What a privilege that would be
I can imagine, that when you've been in space that you have literally seen "the bigger picture" and you can put things into a different perspective.
As someone getting to interviews for jobs I know I would do well, to then not perform well in the interview and not get the jobs, my confident is rock bottom. Blaming my personality has made me feel very low. This video has helped me feel better.
Wow what a nice human being, I’m so glad this popped up in my UA-cam
Thanks a million and thanks for sharing your wisdom !!!!!
"Everyone is looking for significance"
Not even 1 minute into the vid and Hadfield hits us with a powerful line.
Wishing everybody here a very prosperous 2020
nice
His saying "I was lucky enough"... He didn't say smart enough, good enough etc. What a mature practice!
2020 Gave Me Covid bt i managed to keep it under the grave & i blossomed even more i will look up to this 70 years from now
LOVE💙
@@capedoctor 🙏💪 Lets Go!
If the only thing the space program ever "produced" is the wisdom of the first three minuets of this video, then it has all been worth it, and more. Thank you.
I sent this to everyone I love long ago
What an inspirational human!
Astronauts have such an amazing opportunity. If everyone had a chance to see this beauty from such a perspective, maybe we'd all have a little more humility. And maybe the world just might be a better place.
Maybe we'd have something far superior to worship than made up God's and focus on what really matters.
The most thoughtful individuals I have ever heard speak are astronauts.
"i'd go back to the moon in a nanosecond (lol) if i could, but we lost that technology."
That's why they are astronauts.
David Coker why would swearing on a bible mean anything anyway?
Well they have a lot of time to reflect.
We are all astronauts on a beautiful spaceship flying around the sun ,it just that most of us don't realise it.
It's always amazing to listen such life experiences of these great pioneers who always inspire you to push yourself beyond ur limits
What a lovely human being he is
Truly one of Canada's finest citizens.
You are an intelligent, wise and kind person Chris Hadfield.
It's Amazing to hear such humble words
from a man who's seen the world from the perspective of the Gods.
Touch your denying side and say Go for it ✊🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
What this man has to say is amazing.
I am 56 and it does not get any easier to find reasons to stay here...your words are so poignant, thank you.
kindness is key
Great message for the young Chris, especially during these times!!!
He has been my favorite astronaut since "Ground control to major Tom..."
Motivation Hub is the best thing that has happened to UA-cam. God Bless.
Well, in honesty we did have alot of fun back then though. Some days i could use that youthful carelessness.
As they say struggle make you stronger and motivate you to accomplish you goal and dream even more. 💪👍
Some one asks chris : what is your hobby?
Chris : photography
Someone: oh! What do you photograph?
Chris: Nature.
- What on Earth do you photograph?
- All of it.
Thank you Col. Chris..very much from Pointe Claire, QC, Canada😊💞👍👍👏👏
This makes me so much better. Thank you Col. Hadfield.
