Always 'fun' when Mother Nature sneaks up on you while you're out on the water!! You can see a storm coming and think i've got plenty of time, two minutes laters it's pouring rain with 2-3ft caps!! Another 'good' fishin trip in the books!! *Have a good'nnn*
This was a fast mover and there was no thunder or lightening ... It was sunny where I was... I looked up and saw it coming.. Too Late.. I was lucky that I only got wet, GG... ;-)
This was an adventure for sure, Lost... This was more excitement that I needed for one day.... Haha!! It was a fast moving storm ... I am happy that I only got wet!! ;-)
Glad you made it back to the trailer! I forgot my plug once. Riding along the Suwannee river and look back and the water level was rising along the transom. Immediately turned the bilge pump on and plugged the drain hole. Don’t take but a minute for things to go bad. lol
I have caught catfish from the Suwannee river. Several years ago, I was camping near Old Town, Florida... That is a beautiful waterway!! It won't take long to realize that you forgot the plug... Haha! I hate when that happens!!
Yeehaw!! That’s what I call fun!! But you , you gotta b more careful lol. I gotta do a Bill Goudy marathon to do some catching up. Great seeing you again buddy ✌️🍻
Yep! I remember... Unfortunately this has happened to me before.. I was lucky there wasn't any lightening... I only got wet.... This was a fast moving storm.... for sure!! ;-)
Scary weather. Gotta say Bill, your channel lives up to it's name. That was truly an Outdoor Adventure. By the way, thanks so much for the sub on our site. God bless
Most exciting video we have saw in a while my friend. Glad you & the boat made it. My goodness you had supper swimming in your boat! Sorry about your radio.
If i learned one thing from this video... its to remember to laugh a little, not take life so seriously!! I love this guy. I would have been cussing if i sunk my boat
It is life on the along the Mississippi River... Everyday is a new adventure.... I was really lucky... Nobody got hurt in the making of this video!! Thank you for watching, Caleb!!! ;-)
Sweet Christmas.... half way through, I was so hoping you were hugging the shore, glad you were. I’ve seen that situation in my younger years fishing for northerns, in a 20hp 14’tuna can, it’s wet, rough and scary if you hear thunder. Just glad your ok.
I was as close to shore as I could be... I have had this happen a couple of times in the past. So, I knew what to do... I was lucky... No lightening... This was a fast moving storm.. I always keep an eye to the sky... This snuck up on me... I got wet.... and the boat got full of water but, I was not hurt... It was a good day!! ;-) Thanks, Craig!!
BillGoudy I know exactly what you mean. I’ve had similar things happen to me on Erie. My Grandfather always told me years ago, if you ever go out there, be careful things can change in 5 minutes. Erie can go from 1 footers to 5 in a hurry. Well, he was right, been in places I shouldn’t but there was walleye to clean! Great video Captain!
If it gets too rough, head to shore, any shore and wait it out. My father always had a small AM radio in the boat. You can hear static on it when the lightning is approaching but still a distance off. It's kind of a low tech early warning system.
My radio is FM and doesn't get static when a storm approaches. There was no lightning in this fast moving storm. I was glad I made it and no one was hurt. Thanks, Vern ;-)
Hi Bill omg what adventure that was for you glad you as safe an made it back hope you got some fish from your adventure keep up the great work and as always God bless my friend
Holy balls, how exciting. Hey at least you have a story to tell. Me and a buddy almost died up on Gunflint Lake in N. MN one year when a storm blew in. 12 ft Alumicraft with a 20 HP in 2 foot white caps right before dark about 5 miles from our cabin. I"ll never forget it. Had a heck of a nice walleye supper when we got back!
What an Adventure!! Glad Your safe!! That reminded me of when I was 14 me and my friends decided to go on a fishing camping trip in my 14x32 Cherokee john boat 5 hp motor we woke up the next morning to a huge storm and my boat looked just like yours !! lesson learned for sure but it's hard to predict them popup storms!!
Reminds me of a fishing trip that I went on with a friend. He had a 15 and a half ft. Skeeter out on the Ohio. We were headed out to bass fish and went around two barges heading opposite directions and we took a nose dive into a wave that swamped us. The last thing I remember seeing was a wall of water. Thanks to the builders of skeeter boats. We had enough water in the boat that we should have sunk but did not. It stopped us dead in our tracks. I looked at Jim and he looked at me and busted out laughing. He reached over and switch the bilge pump on. We were just soaked all the way threw and a little shook up. I will never forget that day. It actually turned out to be a good day. We caught about 20 bass between the both of us.
Yes, The rule of thumb is to always stay with the boat as they will not sink... They may submerge, but they should always float... I guess, if they don't ... Well, it just isn't your lucky day!! Haha!! Thanks, Chris...
Wow, Bill, you really got swamped! Thank goodness you got yourself in safely!! I'm in the house now only because of thunderstorms out there on Lake Ketchabigwon. Luckily I was only a few feet from shelter, not over a mile. How's the condition of your boat now?
Well, It is still raining here... I don't think there is any damage to the boat but, I really won't know until tomorrow.. I am thinking that the old car radio won't work... We shall see!! Thanks, John!! ;-)
Yeah That was an Adventure for sure Bill, but you made it, never know what will happen on the water when fishing all a part of fishing, you did a great job and stayed cool thats the only way to survive on the water, looks like you were having a great day fishing too, glad every thing ended well, on till the next great Adventure Bill have a good day and stay safe,
I have been caught out on the Mississippi river a few times in my life... So, It was not something new to me... This was a very fast moving storm and it snuck right up on me.. I got wet but, nobody was hurt... It was a great day!!
Life on the water is an adventure. Got caught in a storm with lightning with my Dad as a kid. Just couldn't get off the lake quick enough. Couple strikes were so close the hairs on your arms stood up. I was probably 12 or 13 at the time. After that we mainly went out on clear days. LOL!
Haha!! I did not find any, Chris... And they don't call this the Might Muddy Mississippi for nothing... Yep! I got to get the garden hose out ... You wouldn't believe how much mud was left in the boat!! ;-) Of all times for me not to have an amber vessel of fluid... When I finally do get to have one... I will have really earned it !!! ;-)
Oh my gosh Bill that was scary! Glad you are fine and didn't get hurt out of that storm. Sorry your boat got full of water. You will have to give us an update on the boat.
Thanks, Frugal... It is still raining... I hope to get the boat cleaned out tomorrow but, The only thing I think was damage, was that old car radio... We shall see... Thank you my friend!!
Yes... It happens... I'm very happy that no one got hurt. I have been caught in a few storms over the years. I have been lucky to survive them all!! Thanks, Andy!!
waiting out the storm with some zz top while your boat slowly swamps in the breakers.....hell yeah! would love to hit some waves like those in my 12 foot v-bottom from the 60s. Glad you made it back safe, would love to float down the mississippi some day, greetings from north carolina
Many people have tried that Mississippi trip every year. I see Rafts, Canoes and kayaks. I have always thought that would be a fun adventure. Someday... I would like to hop a train... That has always sounded like fun to me!! Greetings back to you from West Central Illinois!!
Hey Bill, I'm just getting back into fishing, I used to do it a lot when I was younger, but now I'm afraid I forgot everything. What's a good set up for carp and cats? I had carp once when I was like 14 and I remember it being really good. Thank you for the videos Bill.
That is a complicated question, Brian... There is so much equipment out there... I would recommend watching some UA-cam videos and forming my own opinion on what tackle to use... I know the Europeans use a lot of different stuff than the Americans use... Do a UA-cam search and take notes!! ;-) Fishing can be an art... It is wide open to interpretation.. Most anyone can do it! Good Luck my friend!! ;-)
BillGoudy. Hello Bill, I just meant pole and line. My brother and I used to catch a lot of carp with just corn. We used to fish the desplaines river. I remember going down to the pond for a bluegill dinner.
Wow Bill! I've been out there when its been a little rough, but that looked awful and beyond anything I have ever had to deal with. Friend I fish with has one of those big 18ft Oquaka all weld plate boats we fish near Fort Madison and it handles semi-rough water pretty well, but I don't think my old 16ft Lowe Hustler bass boat or my 16ft Polarcraft jon boat would have faired so well either in rain and white caps like that. I used to put my boats in at Burlington and never strayed too far from the launch...just because it can get nasty out there on the big river quick. Mine would have probably sank while getting a beer and a prime rib sandwich at "Big Muddy's". LOL
This was a fast moving storm... I have been caught out a few times before.. There is very little cover in this part of the river.... I am lucky ... All I got was, some work cleaning the boat and Yep... I got wet!! ;-)
You are so right, Shane... I have always tried to keep an eye to the sky especially on this part of the Mississippi.. It is so wide and there isn't much cover... But, this one was a fast mover and snuck up on me!! ;-)
Dang that was scary! Glad you were not in boat during the thick of storm with those waves! It might swamp your boat driving back! So sorry! Glad you ok!! I put a 115 Yamaha on my pontoon just to race the storms to my dock! Come fish on RL Harris Lake, Wedowee, Al! Trying to get CDub and Corp4 gang to come fish! Lol! Be safe!!
That sounds like fun... I will put that on my list of places to go... Thanks, Brenda... I will do some research and if ever I head that way... I will give you some notice... I never know where I am headed next!! ;-)
years ago when I bass-fished a lot, I had the same situation with rain swamping my boat. I ended up adding an auto bilge pump switch and that worked out great.
Glad ur safe.... that’s why love being on the water it really is an adventure. Out there no little yellow lines you have to stay in.i got into bad storm on lake fork in Texas one year ....man I ain’t never seen rollers like that before, lucky we didn’t sink.bet you would like to get priorities straight after that, lol
I was lucky... I only got wet.... The old car stereo doesn't work... That is not a hard fix... Nobody got hurt... That was the most important part!! ;-)
This is the Mississippi River.... It is very wide in this part... There are not islands or wind breaks... It can turn nasty in a very short time!! For sure!! ;-)
Haha!! I have had it happen one other time.. The waves were so high that they actually crashed over the boat ... filling it with water, in no time, at all!! Thanks, James!! ;-)
You know why they call this the mighty muddy Mississippi??? You wouldn't believe how much mud is left in my boat!! I hope to be cleaning it out tomorrow... It is raining out right now!! Haha!! Thanks, Jeff... ;-)
It is amazing..... it runs real good on nice days but, when you are trying to out run a storm.... It sure doesn't run fast enough!! Haha!! Thanks BB !!
This is one of those things that you don't like to admit but, I have had this happen more than once... This was a fast moving storm for sure... Thanks, Bruce!!
Very glad your ok, and that you got the boat loaded on the trailer! Sorry to see so much water in your boat, but the waves are bad! That happened to my bass boat while tied at shore. The waves came over the back and I had two water pumps in my boat.
Yes... I have had it happen to me before... I guess... That is part of life on the water... Thanks, Ronald.. I am very happy that no one got hurt!! ;-) It was a good day!
Good lord Bill! Glad you actually got it out. I was thinking, too, "just stay down there!" -- Anyway, ever fly fish on a std pole for blue gills? Lots of fun.
I have fly fished with a regular rod... I now have a couple of fly rods as well... It is so much fun to catch bluegills on the flies ... I once broke my fly rod catching a Northern Pike while fishing for bluegills... It was quite the fight but, I won!! I had a broken fly rod but I got the fish!! Thanks, Jamie!! ;-)
I don't swamp my boat that often... I hope... I am thinking an old cheap car radio isn't worth the price of that ammo box... Haha! But, if I would put a high priced unit in... That would be a very good idea.. I am thinking that I have another old radio somewhere... I just got to find it!! ;-)
Yes! That was a very fast moving storm... It snuck right up on me... I have been caught a couple of times, in my life time... I was lucky... I only got wet!! ;-)
Haha, love your attitude Bill! Mother Nature rules the roost and she gets bitchy sometimes. Best not to fight it, just make the best of it and move on.
Fished for years out of a 16' Fisher Marine.. Great boat but not the best rough water boat..lol Glad you made it back safe.. You won't do that again.... till next time...hahahahaha
Haha!! You are right about that, Chuck... That is exactly what I said the last time... Haha!! I'm telling you... This was a fast moving storm.. I was lucky that there was no lightening.. I was really lucky that I only got wet!! ;-)
It was fun... More excitement than I need in one day and nobody got hurt... I got wet and I have a story to tell... I had planned to do a catch and cook video... My plans changed very quickly!! Haha!! Thanks, Jars!!
I hate giving this a "LIKE", only because your boat got so hosed. At least you saved you boat. And you maintained a great attitude -- ha, ha! Kudos! Stay safe! (And I should add -- informative video. Those storms can get on a person quick. Something to remember and to plan for!)
I have been caught by storms a couple in over the years... This was a fast mover.... for sure... The best thing... No one got hurt. I had to clean the boat and I replaced the radio and the adventures continue!! Thank you for watching!!! ;-)
Dang it man. I guess u will be fishing with the dewalt radio now. Well wait. That’s how I killed my dewalt radio was a storm on the boat. Man the price we pay to have fun. Glad your safe.
Thanks for sharing. You handled it very well. I haven’t got caught yet, come close, real close, but it is just a boat. Gots to remember that. It can be replaced.
Thanks, Al... This was truly a fast moving storm with no thunder or lightening... It snuck right up on me!! It has happen to me before as well... I was lucky... I only got wet!! ;-)
Always 'fun' when Mother Nature sneaks up on you while you're out on the water!!

I gotta do a Bill Goudy marathon to do some catching up. Great seeing you again buddy ✌️🍻
Man oh man... You talk about excitement!! This was more than I needed for one day!! ;-) It is so good to see you as well... I been missing you!!
I remember a similar situation with Bulldog Bill many moons ago. He had every life jacket available within his close proximity.
Glad you are safe.
Yep! I remember... Unfortunately this has happened to me before.. I was lucky there wasn't any lightening... I only got wet.... This was a fast moving storm.... for sure!! ;-)

Me too... It is just part of life on the river... Luckily nobody got hurt!! ;-)
That was one wild ride, Thanks for taking us along and sharing that hair raising adventure!
Thanks, Darrel... I had planned to make a catch and cook video.... Well, That changed... very suddenly!! ;-)
You are so right... This was a fast moving storm for sure... I had very little advanced warning... I was lucky that I only got wet!! ;-)
I hear that the Ole' Miss don't play around... Glad you made a swift escape Mr. G!
Thanks, TSP... I was lucky!! ;-)

Haha!! That is called living and learning.... I was lucky.... This was a fast moving storm and it snuck right up on me!! ;-)
Awe, it was time for a good ol' boat washin' anyway ;-) Did you find any old lures you thought you lost?
I will have really earned it !!! ;-)
good to see that you made it back safely Mr. Bill, now its time to grab a Busch beer and get the priorities straight! LOL
Oh man... You are so right!!! ;-)
Wow that is crazy weather you're having!👍🏾😀🇺🇸❤️
It can happen.... Just that easy!!
Hard to stop when they're biting, even with a storm coming. Glad you made it safely to shore.
You are right but, There was no lightening or thunder... This was a fast moving storm and it snuck right up on me... I was lucky.... I only got wet!!
Oh my gosh Bill that was scary! Glad you are fine and didn't get hurt out of that storm. Sorry your boat got full of water. You will have to give us an update on the boat.

This was a very fast mover, John... I was lucky... I only got wet!! ;-)
This is why i love jon boat
waiting out the storm with some zz top while your boat slowly swamps in the breakers.....hell yeah! would love to hit some waves like those in my 12 foot v-bottom from the 60s. Glad you made it back safe, would love to float down the mississippi some day, greetings from north carolina

BillGoudy. Hello Bill, I just meant pole and line. My brother and I used to catch a lot of carp with just corn. We used to fish the desplaines river. I remember going down to the pond for a bluegill dinner.
Very good you made it back safe.. Bail it out dry it out and take it back out.. Thanks for sharing..
I am on it!! ;-)
That looked like a close call. That water got pretty choppy. Glad you made it alright. 👍
Thanks, Handi... This was a fast moving storm and it got me wet.... But, nobody got hurt!! ;-)
Damn that sucks, but could have been worse, definitely an adventure lol
You are so right!! It sure could have been much worse!! ;-)
This was a fast moving storm... I have been caught out a few times before.. There is very little cover in this part of the river.... I am lucky ... All I got was, some work cleaning the boat and Yep... I got wet!! ;-)
Glad your OK. Storms over water can be some strange occurrences on how they act. But that is only part of enjoying the great outdoors.
I never know where I am headed next!! ;-)
Sitting in the dry listening to ZZ Top watching the storm pass.... nice...
Haha!! You just got to love that classic rock station!! ;-)
Glad you’re back on land, safe and smiling.
Thank you!! ;-)
years ago when I bass-fished a lot, I had the same situation with rain swamping my boat. I ended up adding an auto bilge pump switch and that worked out great.
That is a great ideal... I have the pump.... Now, all I got to do is add it to the boat...
That was a heck of a storm. Glad you made in in safe.
Thank you... I got wet but, nobody got hurt... It was a good day!! ;-)
Oh man... You have no idea .... how much I wanted to have an ice cold vessel of amber fluid... Actually... I amazed myself!! ;-)
Bummer on the boat, Bill. Those summer storms come up quick and hard. Hope everything on the boat is ok.
I was lucky... I only got wet.... The old car stereo doesn't work... That is not a hard fix... Nobody got hurt... That was the most important part!! ;-)
Holy cow...you know it's bad when you see waves on a lake. Glad you made it in safe.
This is the Mississippi River.... It is very wide in this part... There are not islands or wind breaks... It can turn nasty in a very short time!! For sure!! ;-)
This first time I seen a boat sink on land.:)
Haha!! I have had it happen one other time.. The waves were so high that they actually crashed over the boat ... filling it with water, in no time, at all!! Thanks, James!! ;-)
That was an adventure! Glad you are ok!
Thank you my friend!! ;-)
Well at least you have a nice clean boat Bill!!
You know why they call this the mighty muddy Mississippi??? You wouldn't believe how much mud is left in my boat!! I hope to be cleaning it out tomorrow... It is raining out right now!! Haha!! Thanks, Jeff... ;-)
We have had a lot of rain up here. Looks like a two day dry out coming?
That sounds good... I need to get my boat cleaned out and back in order!! ;-)
Those waves were unreal😮Glad you made it in, that storm was angry.
Thanks, Christy.... I was lucky.... I only got wet!! ;-)
Damn that 25 really pushes that boat well... Wow you got pummeled... That was exciting...glad you survived
It is amazing..... it runs real good on nice days but, when you are trying to out run a storm.... It sure doesn't run fast enough!! Haha!! Thanks BB !!
BillGoudy same like my motor
mother nature fools with no one she can kick ass glad you got in safely Bill
You know it... Thank you my friend!! ;-)
Wow! What a ride! Good you got back safe!
Thanks, Rex.. I was lucky... I only got wet... ;-)
Your a wild man Goudy! Been there done that.
This is one of those things that you don't like to admit but, I have had this happen more than once... This was a fast moving storm for sure... Thanks, Bruce!!
HolY COW! Those whitecaps get SCARY! Iv'e been on Port Charlotte in Fla in an 18ft aluminum boat and waves tossed it around like a dixie cup!
Yep!! When you are out on my part of the Mississippi there are no wind breaks!! I know that feeling!! ;-)
You better get windshield wipers for your glasses if you do much of that brother! LOL!
At least ya got some fish!! Haha glad you're safe!
Thanks, Will ;-)
A great adventure... thanks for sharing
Thank you my friend!! ;-)
Thanks, Jamie!! ;-)
That was a close one !!! Maybe a waterproof ammo box could be something you could put a radio in
I don't swamp my boat that often... I hope... I am thinking an old cheap car radio isn't worth the price of that ammo box... Haha! But, if I would put a high priced unit in... That would be a very good idea.. I am thinking that I have another old radio somewhere... I just got to find it!! ;-)
At least you made it back safe brother👍🇺🇸
You are so right!! That was a very fast moving storm!! ;-)
Hey Bill when did you get a submarine?
Haha!! That's the problem.... I didn't!! ;-)
that was a quick storm Bill glad you are alright.the boat cleaning begins.
This storm snuck right up on me, Wallace... I was lucky... I only got wet... It was a fast mover for sure!!
Howdy Bill. That's a little too close for comfort . Stay safe out there
Haha!! I agree!! ;-)
I hate when that happens. Those waves sure got big. It is a good thing you made it back before filling with water.
You are so right!! ;-) I was lucky!!
Afternoon Thunderstorms are unpredictable...hope the boat is ok Bill!
They are... I will be looking the boat over tomorrow!! It is raining out now!! ;-)
Wild storm especially for such low boat! I hope everything will dry out okay.
Yes! That was a very fast moving storm... It snuck right up on me... I have been caught a couple of times, in my life time... I was lucky... I only got wet!! ;-)
Dangerous. I am glad you got to shore in time.
Thank you, It was a fast moving storm.... for sure!! ;-)
Well bill u took a shower an cleaned ur boat out. Glad u made it back
I sure did, Steve!! ;-)
Haha, love your attitude Bill! Mother Nature rules the roost and she gets bitchy sometimes. Best not to fight it, just make the best of it and move on.
I have learned not to cry... If it is meant to be .... It is meant to be!!! ;-) Thank you my friend!
Shiver me timbers bill, you done been scuttled
For sure!! ;-)

I was lucky... I only got wet!! ;-)

Haha!! You are right about that, Chuck... That is exactly what I said the last time... Haha!! I'm telling you... This was a fast moving storm.. I was lucky that there was no lightening.. I was really lucky that I only got wet!! ;-)
Looks like a great adventure and one hell of a good time
It was fun... More excitement than I need in one day and nobody got hurt... I got wet and I have a story to tell... I had planned to do a catch and cook video... My plans changed very quickly!! Haha!! Thanks, Jars!!
Nuttin like buckin some waves to get the old pucker factor engaged.
Pucker factor... indeed!! Hey, Were you the one telling me to make a Catfish pizza?
Umm Nope! Don't think it was me. But I'd try one. Really, don't see any reason why it wouldn't work.
Thank you for watching!!! ;-)
I caught the biggest pike if my life on my birthday in a rainstorm like this...I got drenched.but I got my fish.
I have also caught some very nice fish in or right after the storm... This storm blew in very fast!! Lucky no got hurt!

Dang it man. I guess u will be fishing with the dewalt radio now. Well wait. That’s how I killed my dewalt radio was a storm on the boat. Man the price we pay to have fun. Glad your safe.
Haha!! I just happen to have 2 Dewalt radios... I am planning to use one until I can find another car stereo.... ;-)

I know, .... Right? Haha!!

Thanks, Al... This was truly a fast moving storm with no thunder or lightening... It snuck right up on me!! It has happen to me before as well... I was lucky... I only got wet!! ;-)
one way to clean the sumps and bilges of the boat. be sure to dry off that frying pan before it grows red hairs
