I played a lot of CS & for me personally aim was always the most important aspect. I felt like, if I'd hit more shots. I'd do better since my gamesense, movement bla bla. All naturally get better with time(5k hours).
But aim is something we have to consciously work on, warmup, review.
That's why for me personally, it's seen as my hindrance. I however don't agree at all with people saying it takes very low skill or no aiming to become good in tac FPS. People act like crosshair placement do all the work for you, instead of assisting you a little bit. If it really was that easy to hit those "micro adjustments"(but rly u need all aim). Then why would anyone care to aimtrain, find new sensitives or care what mouse they use.
I think people who say aim doesn't matter have either just been very good natural aimers or simply haven't reach a high enough level to where people destroy you in 0.003 seconds.

I agree with you on tac FPS aiming, it takes a lot of skill. I think every FPS game takes good aim, it's just a different style depending on the game. For me, I will say that it's easy to spend too much time training mechanics and not play enough ranked games to make progress on game sense

Hey man great video, quick tip on choosing your role. My radiant friend told me this: If you were to be radiant right now, who would you want to be playing? and it really changed how i viewed character selection, I was always too caught up on what roles fit me rather than what role I wanted to play. And if you do decide to continue playing Kayo, just know that at higher elos kayo becomes the kind of agent that requires a lot of prep to have high impact. I wouldn't worry about it too much now, since at your current skill level you probably just need to get a better intuition for the game. Woohoojin says it takes about 300 hours of comp to gain enough intuition to be ready for a VOD review, idk what ur at now but probably less than that lol.
    Keep up the content

ooh i like that idea...i'm at like 12 hours in competitive but i think it helps to do a weekly vod review because you guys can also see how my knowledge of the game progresses, obviously my vod review won't be that great at the start, but that should also improve over time

The idea of something that looks like one skill is actually a series of subskills is something I've adopted from RPGs ever since I was a kid. Also, your idea that it's better to be well versed in more subskills reminds me of the whole phrase of "Jack of All, Master of None." That's the not the whole phrase. If you say it just like that, it makes it seem like being a Master of one skill is better than being a jack of all. But the whole phrase is "Jack of all, Master of None, better than Master of One." So, like almost anything in life, it's best to be proficient at multiple skills rather than being only a Master at one. Great video, Silky!

As an immortal and playing competively one thing you might want to know is like at 21:00 onward the mound play would have been better without ADS. At close ranges ADS gives little to no benefit. If you want to ads just do it for the first shot then transition to hipfire. This is because ADS reduces rate of fire and makes movement worse.

7:18 If you don't like going into site first because you get shot from off angles, you just need to go slowly at first and make sure to clear every angle that someone could be methodically like you mentioned at 24:47. From my experiences playing duelist makes climbing out of low elo much easier, because otherwise your team will be too afraid to go out on to site on attack and you won't get anywhere. When you are playing duelist, you can take your time to clear angles, then tell your teammates to follow behind you on to site. Personally I'm a Jett main, so for an example, I'll say I'm attacking B site on Ascent. First I'll clear every angle, until I'm in position to push out of B main. Then I'll tell my team that I'm going to dash out and tell them to follow me, throw a smoke on lever, dash into my smoke while looking around for info on where the enemies are, and then use the lever to close door to market. If I see an enemy, I'll call their location to my team, and then just sit in my smoke until my teammates come out and I can swing off of their contact.
I'm not saying duelist is essential to ranking up by any means, but for me it was easier to IGL as Jett compared to other agents, and actually make things happen on attack (also means that if you can get your teammates to use util for you, you can play off of it more easily). You can make more aggressive plays in general aswell, which can be good when you have good mechanics.
Sorry if this is a bit too hard to do in low elo, I haven't played in low elo for a while so probably don't remember quite how bad comms and teammates really are, but you could try it anyway and see how it goes (if you decide you want to try duelist).
Also another small detail to add, 21:21 I actually think that the first peek on the mound was fine, since you were in an unexpected off-angle and had the chance to get a couple of shots off before unpeeking (if the mound was throwing off your aim then the more you peek that angle the more used to it you will get). What I would have changed is instead of re-peeking on the mound, for the second peek I would have repositioned off the mound and swung out to the left of it with A key (left side over right because if you peek out the right side then there is a higher chance of there being multiple enemies there + jett's crosshair is closer to the right side because he will be looking where you just peeked from)
These are tiny things that are by no means your biggest problem at your rank, but you are already pointing about 95% of the things that I notice while watching so wanted to at least give some advice xD
Your gamesense has improved soo much from previous weeks, and I'm sure the more you play, you will pick up on these things by yourself.
    Good luck! :D

I like the self sufficient tool kits of the duelists and i'm very aggressive, so it's either duelist or an initiator that can flex to both roles i think...i just keep going very negative kill/death because i'm not sure when to push through smokes and since i'm supposed to enter first i feel pressured to rush forward and don't know really when or why i should

    • @Popguy
      @Popguy Рік тому

@@SilkyCrisp I'd recommend watching higher level players play duelist, and take notes of when/why they push out. In your elo I don't think it really matters too much when you go out, as long as your team follows you. If you can communicate a basic pre-round plan to your team each round then you have a very good chance of winning attack.

Aim is just one tool out of many in the toolbox.
In the end having many tools is the best as it all comes together beautifully.
Although proper mechanics (aim, crosshair placement, angles,) can take you really far.

Great video man. I’ll add my two cents in real quick shouldn’t be much I’ve been learning every role and taking it to immortal and main chamber so I’m use to slower play like I see your style to be.
    Pros
-Vod Reviewing your own games and looking for mistakes per game is huge I did this and thought this was a common experience, but trust me when i say your in the 1% of players that take the time to truly look back and learn.
    - Your ability to aim is already very good. All you need is to work a bit on crosshair placement and that’s easy, but going to be a long difficult process. Even as a imm people sometimes play an off angle I haven’t experienced before and I’ll die, but make a mental note because if I’m ever peaked there again in the future I’ll know exactly where to aim. It just takes time and experience and nothing you can really do to avoid that journey.
    - Your communication of your intentions is really important in lower elo because people dont yet understand what a “default” play looks like. For example Ascent A main a lot of players are conditioned to jiggle peaking due to an awp and fall pray to being flashed by phoenix or skye instead of having someone play anti-flash. Kayo requires a lot of prep in custom to learn lineup flashes and knife and mollies for his team and your going to need to communicate what you want and where your setup should land. Your doing an amazing job by just learning where map locations are and trying to be an asset to your teammates.
Now on to the cons I’ve seen
    - Honestly the only big con I see that I think is important in your current stage is your pacing of play. You have good aim and good baseline understanding of the game. Because your actually one of the few people watching your games back and learning your going to find you will rank up faster than any peers you may have started with. Due to this you should be always and I’ll put this in quotes “assuming your the better smarter” player compared to your team. When I smurf learning new roles I quickly realized how much faster I can read a play than my team and as a support character that can communicate I typically tell my team to rotate and the read I have on the enemy team. Valorant is a information game and the more info you have the game becomes 20x easier and honestly feels like a joke.
    - Adding to to the previous point remember the part where you go C sands to open door and try to help your phoenix. It’s a good play and you even communicate your intentions behind opening the door and letting him know who opened the door. However him being the bad teammate he is did NOT relay the information that he is smoked off and can’t join the fight. Luckily your better and you get the isolated fight and it happens that no one on the enemy team is looking to instant trade, but the higher the elo the smarter the opponent and people will start to as I like to call it “buddy fuck” each other. I’m always looking to find a teammate and let them do their thing and then immediately swing off them or with them to secure a kill. In your situation I would be telling the phoenix to peak with me or flash as I open door, OR I open the door and bait the phoenix and proceed to kill the enemy after my teammate dies because they aren’t showing a willingness to take the fight.
I could likely find other things but I’m no coach and I’ve said enough already. If you have any questions lmk I basically live on YT anyways. I think your going to find you will be diamond within 2 months as you continue progressing your game and keep learning along the way. I think you have more potential than I do considering I only play on weekends.
    Have a Good Climb!

Ok, I have a few opinions, Firstly, I am an ascendant 2 player right now and have been making alot of improvement recently, so this content is awesome, keep it up. On your decision to play kay/o, I personally think you should reconsider, I think that A HUGE amount of this game is having good movement, and being a good fragger, and it would shock you to see the players in "high elo" with completely garbage movement or mechanics, admittedly including myself sometimes lol. Having the ability to play duelist and frag out, WILL EASILY rank you up the fastest reguardless of the other method, and if that is your primary goal, I think that Reyna is the best character to play. Anyway, if you want to keep playing kay/o, I have some tips.... This tip is directly from a vod I watched from tenz a while back, USE YOUR RIGHT CLICK FLASH. almost never is a left click good, UNLESS you have a lineup, or a teamate that is eather asking for it, or would directly benefit, OTHERWISE RIGHTCLICK. kinda rambling, so ima stop there.

Thing is, sure, aim is only 5% of the equation, but just like a very complicated term in a differential equation, it may only be a small part of the equation, but it's still the most difficult one to obtain, and the one that will hold you back the most, it's gonna be way easier for the silver with elite aim to get better, it'll just require some discipline for him, whereas a hardstuck diamond that has all the good reads, yet still gets his shit completely smoked cause he can't get that first bullet headshot, and no matter how hard he tries he just cannot win direct gunfights against high elo players, the silver we talked about can easily reach immortal with discipline and focus.

be careful not to fall for the trick that this game is basically csgo...its not csgo. its actually more like rainbow six siege. your looking at the game from the principles level which is a great place to start however as you get to platinum you will realize the way to rank up is to play optimally based on the situation. gold and up everybody plays the principles game. the way to win from here other than drilling principles such as bursting between strafes, aiming head level and peeking far from the wall is to look at the game in vod review in a minigame within the game point of view. to start off this is what i did when i watched your vod. 1 tip i noticed when you were smoked off by a brim smoke on C backsite is to play this minigame that repeats optimally. you played it suboptimally. optimally you will place your crosshair where they would exit a smoke. ideally to the left or right of the smoke. woohoojin will teach this to jpc in a video if you get around to it aswell. when your smoked off the optimal thought process is see which flash agents are up and get ready to dodge a flash. then place your crosshair right or left of the smoke(pick one) and wait for it to fade. if your a flash agent push the smoke and flash through it. add this to your arsenal of minigames within the game. impliment optimal approach to the minigames within the game(patterns that repeat) and you will rank up beyond gold. gold is known as the rank that has the most players and is where people end up when they start to master mechanics. this is your current rank. it makes sense because aim diff players often get stuck here. mechanics arent usually what holds golds back. patterns of play from here on is what hold you back. when you start to hit platinum start making a flow chart as you probably play patterns better and have decent mechanics and now its about playing smarter. diamond and up is all about flow charts. heres my tracker so you know its not copium advice(be careful of copium advice) tracker.gg/valorant/profile/riot/usdamma%232514/overview i play OCE(australian region)
