Thank you for sharing these videos. Do you have to do this every time you start griddling or just the first time you get it? When I clean at the end, I coat it with oil before storing it. Is that oil enough or do I still need to season it again in the beginning of every griddle?
Pro Series looks nice. All other seasoning video's say to apply each coat while still hot and not cool it down. Are you cooling it down between coats because that is what the Blackstone seasoning says to do?
Thank you for the Great video! I just got a 28” blackstone and I love it! I clean it every time after cooking on it. This maybe a dumb question. So after you cook on it and clean it do you re-coat it with the griddle conditioner? I normally clean it with water 2-3x then put a thin layer of oil for the next time. How often do you use the conditioner?
I only use the conditioner when I want to recondition the top after it starts to fade some. Otherwise I do exactly what you do. Clean it well, then a light oil for next time!
I am trying to decide between the pro and the air fryer unit. Do you feel like you like one more than the other? I’ve never used air fryers, the idea of having it seems cool but I also think I would t use it often.

Mathew.... I just noticed @0:42 when you lifted the lid of the griddle. Blackstone needs to come up with a different kind of adhesive for the plastic label they put on the inside of the lids. I have a 28" Rangetop combo griddle and the same thing happened to mine when the label was removed. It took some of the finish off when the label was removed. Of course, I don't think there is any chance of it rusting it is just the principle of the thing. You spend $400+ for a great griddle and you end up defacing it just trying to get the stupid label off. I don't know if you were to fire up the griddle and close the lid for a few minutes if that would make the label come off without pulling the finish off or not. Kinda late in the game to find out now since mine and yours have messed up the finish on the inside of the lid. Look forward to seeing your first cook on the new griddle.

I almost put a thumbs down, but I retracted it. Simply for the way you cleaned it. Why in the world wound you just not pull the top off, take it to the yard and bust out the hose to get all the Dawn off? And it’s nice to see that Blackstone has finally caught up to Camp Chef with igniters on all burners.
Like I noted in the video, the lid and top are together. Much different than just taking a top off only. The lid with the top makes it tough. Yeah, you can take it off, BUT there’s a lot of linkages. Much less effort just going water on the top and going that way.

I appreciate there is a bit more cost involved, but who wouldn’t gladly pay $200 or so more to avoid the constant headache of dealing with cast iron?I just don’t get it. Many gas grills are made with 304 (including the grates/cooking surface) and require zero maintenance.. The only reason I have yet to buy a Blackstone is because I find it baffling that anyone would use cast iron for a ‘tool’ type apparatus meant to be kept outdoors. I actually use cast iron pans for indoor use but I would never even consider cast iron for anything kept outdoors. Again, I don’t expect you (or any of your followers) to know the answer but I just wanted to get it off my chest (hahahaha) If Blackstone came out with a 304 stainless griddle/cooktop I would buy it tomorrow!
Flattop is rolled steel not cast iron. I’ve had mine for close to ten years and only seasoned it twice. The second time was because I loaned it for a church function and a lady scraped it down to bare metal to “clean” it. It stays outside on my deck with a homemade wooden cover and the Blackstone canvas cover over that.
@@lynnberg253 I will be damned...I could have sworn it was cast iron. Given all the UA-cam videos of people seasoning it I just assumed it was cast iron. Thanks for the correction.
