    Maannnn that pro series though damn that's sexy!!
    (Edit) Hussey you speaking on you old video, I just had the thought the other day of how much more comfortable and personable you are in front of the camera in comparison to older stuff. Personality comes through and makes your stuff that much more of a pleasure to watch! Keep on keepin on Pappa blackstone . I dub you Pappa blackstone lol

    Thank you for the Great video! I just got a 28” blackstone and I love it! I clean it every time after cooking on it. This maybe a dumb question. So after you cook on it and clean it do you re-coat it with the griddle conditioner? I normally clean it with water 2-3x then put a thin layer of oil for the next time. How often do you use the conditioner?

    Mathew.... I just noticed @0:42 when you lifted the lid of the griddle. Blackstone needs to come up with a different kind of adhesive for the plastic label they put on the inside of the lids. I have a 28" Rangetop combo griddle and the same thing happened to mine when the label was removed. It took some of the finish off when the label was removed. Of course, I don't think there is any chance of it rusting it is just the principle of the thing. You spend $400+ for a great griddle and you end up defacing it just trying to get the stupid label off. I don't know if you were to fire up the griddle and close the lid for a few minutes if that would make the label come off without pulling the finish off or not. Kinda late in the game to find out now since mine and yours have messed up the finish on the inside of the lid. Look forward to seeing your first cook on the new griddle.

    Here's a tip for those looking to do this: EMPHASIS ON LIGHT COAT OF OIL.
    I was making my coating too thick between heating and it was a big mistake that took months of cooking to remedy.

      Not really. I didn’t charge my batteries for my cameras when I started. So went off and did other things then came back to seasoning.

    Just bought the pro series. I feel like I used too much of the blackstone oil . Used a tablespoon as required on the jar. Burned off and left a brown residue. Anyone have this issue or did I mess up and need to redo?

    • @thehungryhussey
      @thehungryhussey  3 роки тому +1

      It will leave a little residue simply because it's burning the oil. No worries.

    I almost put a thumbs down, but I retracted it. Simply for the way you cleaned it. Why in the world wound you just not pull the top off, take it to the yard and bust out the hose to get all the Dawn off? And it’s nice to see that Blackstone has finally caught up to Camp Chef with igniters on all burners.

    • @thehungryhussey
      @thehungryhussey  4 роки тому +1

      Like I noted in the video, the lid and top are together. Much different than just taking a top off only. The lid with the top makes it tough. Yeah, you can take it off, BUT there’s a lot of linkages.
      Much less effort just going water on the top and going that way.

    Let me ask you something (not that I necessarily expect you to know the answer) why do you think Blackstone doesn’t create any (or all for that matter) of their models with the grill itself made from 304 stainless steel (as opposed to cast iron)?
    I appreciate there is a bit more cost involved, but who wouldn’t gladly pay $200 or so more to avoid the constant headache of dealing with cast iron?I just don’t get it. Many gas grills are made with 304 (including the grates/cooking surface) and require zero maintenance..
    The only reason I have yet to buy a Blackstone is because I find it baffling that anyone would use cast iron for a ‘tool’ type apparatus meant to be kept outdoors. I actually use cast iron pans for indoor use but I would never even consider cast iron for anything kept outdoors.
    Again, I don’t expect you (or any of your followers) to know the answer but I just wanted to get it off my chest (hahahaha)
    If Blackstone came out with a 304 stainless griddle/cooktop I would buy it tomorrow!

    • @thehungryhussey
      @thehungryhussey  4 роки тому

      Not sure the answer either. I’m with you thinking it’s cost, but I’m sure it’s more than that when you’re looking at the fine details

      Flattop is rolled steel not cast iron. I’ve had mine for close to ten years and only seasoned it twice. The second time was because I loaned it for a church function and a lady scraped it down to bare metal to “clean” it. It stays outside on my deck with a homemade wooden cover and the Blackstone canvas cover over that.

    • @ts6640
      @ts6640 4 роки тому +1

      @@lynnberg253 I will be damned...I could have sworn it was cast iron. Given all the UA-cam videos of people seasoning it I just assumed it was cast iron. Thanks for the correction. I guess I don’t have a reason not to buy one now (although I still wish they would come out with a 304 stainless version)! Thanks!

    For night time cooking check out this light. It’s really bright and has a magnetic base. May not work well for videos, but for cooking dinner this time of year it’s great.
