My analysis of Avenged Sevenfold's "A Little Piece of Heaven" was too disgusting for me to continue halfway through, and so the scrapped version is uploaded to my Patreon community (Voice Crack tier and above), alongside tracks such as:
    - A Perfect Circle's "Judith"
    - Sleep Token's "Vore"
    - Dimmu Borgir "The Serpentine Offering"
    - Behemoth and Me and That Man
    - Exclusive Interview with Nergal of Behemoth
    - Silent Skies
With more to come! I may start doing a regularly scheduled analysis video on top of these "Dark Vault" offerings. We'll see!

@@Broccoli_Highkicks I'd argue no song is ever meant to be unappealing. Many songs are about subject matter that is unappealing to some, but nobody is ever writing a song that they don't like or they don't think other people will like. That would make no sense, unless you're doing it for shock value and some cheap headlines or some shit like that. But we know that's not the case with Avenged Sevenfold. And duh you don't HAVE to find something you like in something you overall don't. But when you are what this Chanel is and you're who she is as a musical analyst it's kind of part of the deal to give credit where it's due even if the total package is not your thing. I'm talking about this specific circumstance or similar, not a general thing for any random person because who tf cares and why should anyone care what someone who's only qualification to talk about music is they have ears that work? That was all my point was. So it's odd IMO to react with "well pfft you didn't have to find anything to like if you didn't like all of it." Which I'm not saying was your intended tone, but that's what it read to me as.

    This song is such a masterpiece. It's gruesome and fucked up on the surface, but it tells the story of two people in love who end up hearting each other and "tearing each other's hearts out," but they keep coming back together. The first two parts of the songs tells the story of one hurting the other. In the song, they only abuse each other once each, but we can assume that this is a cycle between their relationship. During the part where he's pleading with her and she's telling him off, we can assume that maybe they had one big fight where the guy did something that crossed the line. He's pleading for forgiveness and they make up. In that reconciliation, they realized that they love only each other, want to marry one another, and commit to working through their issues. "If it's not enough, try again, and again..." encapsulates this sentiment. Through all the shit, they still love each other so much that they committed to working through the toxicity that they each bring to their relationship, regardless as to what the people around them think. Regardless of it's meaning, it's still a masterpiece;

I feel like people in this comment section are missing the point of what she’s saying. It’s not simply that it’s dark and she doesn’t like it. The point she seems to be making is that if she is going to post a reaction she wants to put aome positive spin on her content. Praise something, give constructive criticism, find something she personally appreciates about the song she’s reacting to. If all the reaction video would be is her not liking it and having nothing good to really say then the video would be nothing but negativity and therefore she doesn’t feel it’s worth posting. She didn’t care for it, it wasn’t her thing, and rather than posting a video where all she does is talk about how much she doesn’t like it she feels it’s better to focus on things she has something positive to contribute. It’s not a simple case or I don’t like songs that are dark and not all sunshine and rainbows it’s that she herself didn’t have anything positive to contribute to the discussion and didn’t want to post a video of her just complaining about a song that wasn’t her cup of tea.

@@ICRA95 It’s a dark twist on a common story regarding insecurity, conflict, and reconciliation in relationships. The gruesome bits are pretty clearly tongue-in-cheek spooky flavoring with even the most surface-level interpretation, provided you actually finish the song.
Early on in the song he gives the reasoning: “Our love had been so strong for far too long / I was weak with fear that something would go wrong / Before the possibilities came true / I took all possibility from you”
Then after she comes back to life and returns the favor, he says: “Now that it's done, I realize the error of my ways / I must venture back to apologize from somewhere far beyond the grave / I gotta make up for what I've done / Cause I was all up in a piece of heaven / While you burned in hell, no peace forever”
So they reconcile in a duet, her parts in parentheses, last line in harmony: “I will suffer for so long (what will you do, not long enough) / To make it up to you (I pray to God that you do) / I'll do whatever you want me to do (well, then, I'll grant you one chance) / And if it's not enough (if it's not enough, if it's not enough) / If it's not enough (not enough) / Try again (try again) / And again (and again) / Over and over again”
They get married in undeath and then the chorus repeats to bring the song to a close: “Because I really always knew that my little crime / Would be cold, that's why I got a heater for your thighs / And I know, I know it's not your time / But bye, bye / And a word to the wise, when the fire dies / You think it's over but it's just begun / But baby, don't cry / You had my heart, at least for the most part / Cause everybody's gotta die sometime / We fell apart, let's make a new start, oh / Cause everybody's gotta die sometime, yeah, yeah / But baby, don't cry”
It doesn’t promote violence by any stretch of the imagination, it’s just a spooky ballad.

Probably notable ones would be "Hail To The King" (probably should've started with that one LOL) and "Nightmare". Though with "A LIttle Piece Of Heaven", the work that they all put into that song showed just how much they support each other. They were on hiatus after a long tour and just need some time away but The Rev had this song and instead of backing out, the whole band came together and ended up producing it themselves along with getting the symphony, female singer, sound effects, etc. They did a breakdown on their channel and it is incredible how much work they did with it.

She comes back from the dead to let him know of his mistake and kills him as well. He then arises and they are able to get married and spend the rest of their 'lives' together with the knowledge that they are the only two for each other in the entire world and they're a match made in...hell?
Disgusting, sure. Romantic? Moreso than most romcoms today. It's an artistic ballad that can only be enjoyed by those who can read between the lines.
Also, quitting before you finish the ballad will never do it justice. That's like quitting before the end of The Little Mermaid and never seeing the happy ending. It's just asinine.

The spookiness you are picking up on was intentional. The Rev composed this and oingoboingo did the session instrumentals for it. Which, when I read about Oingo Boingo being part of the studio session it clicked for me 💚😹💚

A strange set of circumstances ended up with me and a group of my old high school teachers going to see avenged sevenfold last week, after the show my old principal announces to the car full of 60 year olds and one metal head 20 year old, “Yknow, I really liked the song where that guy and gal were stabbing each other”

Whats funny is the song right after this on the album is Dear God. If you wanna feel a bit better about the band, check that one out. (Though it would be great to see Afterlife and then maybe go back to early material like unholy confessions to compare)

I adore this song, and find it so musically interesting and cool, but I've listened to it so much in definitely desensitised to the subject matter. It's a shame but also understandable that you didn't enjoy it because it is meant to be just a proper horror story. But still a shame because musically and vocals it's so cool!

Here's a tip for those that recommended this song: If you're not recommending the more modern and better produced music first, you're doing it wrong. You gotta Trojan Horse them the more interesting music first. You wouldn't show someone The Sound of Silence and then put on Down with the Sickness or Droppin Plates next, to use Disturbed as an example.

The world is a negative place. Music helps us deal with that.
The song has a deeper meaning behind the gory & humorous story...It is essentially about growing to hate the one you love, breaking up, then realising you're both F'd up individuals who belong together so you have a fresh start.
I'm not being facetious when I say this is a romantic song.
I enjoy your content Elizabeth, but sometimes I wish it didn't feel like we're schoolkids and you're our teacher.

I’m Latin American born in the US but I still love Latin rock as much as I do rock in English, it’s one of my favorite things to listen to. To delve a little more deeper into Latin and Argentinian rocks bands try Rata Blanca and their song la leyenda del hada y el mago, to me it’s their best song and everything about is amazing. Also thanks for doing this review on one of the best Latin rock songs of all time.

I dunno. I found it to be a simply catchy melodic song. If you ignore the lyrics and just hear words. And don’t watch the music video.
But people will hate on it then turn around and watch docos and movies about Dahmer, Gacy and Bundy.

Ummm, I am pretty sure she was listening to it, that’s what she does, she listens and analyses what she hears. She has well tuned ears, she knows her stuff.
It’s refreshing to see someone being honest and calling it out for what it is instead of doing what many do and fake it for clicks and so not to offend those who for some strange reason not only like it but suggested it as a representation of their music.
I guarantee that if this is people’s first experience of their music, they aren’t going to be checking out any of their other music, it will put off more people than it will encourage to listen to their other music
