One of the most physical, brutal games seen anywhere, Ireland last week saw off reigning champions South Africa to good as guarantee Pool B and make a huge statement of intent ahead of the knockout stages. So, how did Ireland do it, and what must the Boks take from that?

Couldn’t agree more I’m an American and used to be an American football fanatic they changed the defensive rules 15-20 years ago because fair weather fans love big scores can’t watch it any more half the games are ridiculous. Absolutely, my man! We had a whole viewing party. Now being South African, I think we lamented the spills and missed penalties a bit more than you guys did, but in the words of the great Jim Ross, Good God Almighty, what a slobberknocker!
It was tense, it was gruelling and it was thrilling. Every turnover was cheered as if we won the comp. Every one conceded was met with cries of disbelief (and "advice" on what the player should have done instead).
I get really pissed off when someone calls this kind of rugby "boring" only to find that those same people would happily watch Arsenal and Liverpool playing to a 0-0 draw.
Lastly, seeing the Irish clap the Boks off after what was nothing but a titanic struggle was a really classy thing to do and it shows that your boys have a lot of humility to go with their insane amount of talent.
If our boys can't win the competition, I'm really hoping your guys do*. Lord above knows that it is deserved. Well played and congratulations.
*Okay, I'm going to have to be honest. I love Fiji. Seeing them topple a few giants is always magnificent and I secretly think they are everyone's second favourite side

Yeah TASanals shit, poorly interpreted super slowmo vids and SA Rugby Magazine having a 'rate the ref' feature after every SA match (with that coverage tripled when SA lose obviously) are the only thing between either one nations RU buying wins/bribing the HUGE number of people that would be required to execute and then keep such an endeavor quiet. Or perhaps a crime syndicate intimidating, threatening and also bribing huge numbers of people to further their own financial+business interests like the Mafia and Serie A in the early 2000's. Maybe Bill 'Bunga Bunga' Beaumont is the new Berlusconi😄
Oh, not forgetting the stooges and plants who train for years to become an international standard ref purely to fuck over the Boks for the lols. Apparently there's LOADS of them... Allegedly they all watched The Departed and thought 'this could definitely be applied to the world of rugby officiating' and it was agreed to solely go after SA from the inside until the end of time.
      Jog the fuck on 😀
Hilariously the SA cunt squad of supporters STILL lost their shit after the Tonga game at the ref wanting to yellow card Etzebeth. He then changed his mind after interjections by the TMO and assistant ref. Which is precisely the kind of double checking of decisions and utilizing the TMO to ensure the correct decision is reached that they'd been demanding happen for years!! It all came together, with the ultimate decision after discussion beneficial/correct, but STILL they cry and moan!
I guess the bok fans might just be grouchy because in-between their salty tears and persistent bed wetting they haven't had a dry nights sleep for years🤷 All the chafing has made them a rather cranky, temperamental bunch of toddlers.

Ireland and France are the two teams to watch. Our kicker did let us down when it really mattered, but dang, give Ireland the credit they rightfully deserve. The All Blacks melted away against the 7 1 split, but the Irish took it on the chin and came out of it much stronger. This explains the Irish teaching NZ a rugby lesson in their own backyard 😊. Where NZ reverted to their by now familiar crying game, Ireland showed the 7/1 can be limited in its effectiveness. Another aspect that severely limited the 7/1 strategy is the fact that we could not back our forwards with a reliable flyhalf. Ireland took advantage of this weakness and that is what the game is all about. You dont take prisoners in an international on this level, or any level.

Great analysis, and funny too😅. As an Irish fan, i was dismayed by our loss of the first 4 lineouts. I thought at time, this spelled doom. But, the lads corrected, on the fly. That was deeply impressive. We won, but by the skin of our teeth. Huge respect to the Boks. Their line speed, defense and all around savvy were a reflection of the world champion team they are. Let's not kid ourselves, if Handre Pollard had been at 10 handling the kicking duties, the result would likely have been different. Comparable to IRL vs France in Dublin 2 years ago.

Like Uruguay stole Squidge's heart last RWC, Portugal stole mine this time round. Loved their balsy never-say-die attitude against Fiji. My favourite moment of the tournament so far is the Portuguese hooker fielding the ball in back play and casually doing a kick to touch any fullback will be proud of. (I suspect only Siya Kolisi hoisting the cup again and taking his place among the greats will top that for me, here's hoping.) @fairplay3312, you should be very proud of your team indeed! The boks disruption on the first Irish line out 5m from the line, I think they sent up two huge jumpers, really put doubt into Kellehers head, by the time they had lost 5 or 6, the Ireland team should have been in panic mode, but what bravery and resilience to grind out a win, the speed and ferocity of that boks defence was scary. I don't accept the 11 points claim, as one of the failed kicks ended in a try , so 3 lost but 5 gained, but a world class kicker like Pollard would have made it an even closer game.

I thought the still footage worked really well. I often miss so many details of your work because of the amount you cover and the depth of analysis, but i think this format really worked for me. I could keep up with at least 20% at least 10% of the time. Keep up the good work. How do we complain to RWC about the lack of highlights ect?

This was much easier to watch and understand with you using still images - I think it improved your video a lot and you should consider using stills in the future. In the past, it could sometimes be difficult to listen to you and watch at the same time. This was great.
As a SA supporter, I now understand Ireland and SA much better because of your fantastic analysis.

Love your content man! Keep up the great work. It was one hell of a game. I have never felt so on edge during a game. With our Lineout malfunctioning I really thought we were heading for a shocker, but then they didn't kick their points. The 2nd half was more chilled from my couch. I really do think the Scotland game could be a whopper. Should Andy rest Sexton? Probably, will he? Most likely not... NZ in the Quarters is a fear inducing thought. But.... We believe, and so does our team! If we can reach the Finals, it will lift our entire country beyond belief. Love, Say Less.

reminds me of Squidge's best comment ever, in my book... After RWC 2019, and following a comment that Erasmus "has an enormous penis" - " Rassie Erasmus arrived back in SA on Monday, but his penis was there before him on Sunday night", or words to that effect.
