- While Stirling is a great day trip from Edinburgh or Glasgow, we suggest spending a full day in Stirling. Even though it rained while we visited, we made the most of our day here.

Here are the places in Stirling you need to check out. Here's how we spent one day in Stirling:
1. Stirling Castle
2. Walk around the city centre / local cafes and pubs
3. Wallace Monument (not pictured as it was closed when we visited)

Headed home to Stirling after 45 years away in 6 more weeks❤❤❤
I love this! Hope you have an amazing trip there! Will you be spending much time there? Since I made this video, I've since returned to Stirling for another day trip and finally got to visit the Wallace Monument! I'm sure I'll be back there again soon, too.
Visiting Stirling where your family immigrated from decades earlier is such a great way to celebrate the life of your grandparents. I can only imagine how that felt as you walked up to the castle your grandfather would walk to on a regular basis. Such a great experience.
Amazing! Stirling and this video representing it. I loved it. My grand parents emigrated from glasgow to the USA several decades ago. I can’t wait to get over to Scotland. 2023 can’t come soon enough!
It really is not good when it is raining and you only have one day to explore the place. But glad you still went for it and experiencing and seeing your grandparents life before. Beautiful castle and beautiful story telling. Love the rainbow at the end.
Excellent video. My wife and I visited Scotland 2 years ago and loved it. This brought back some nice memories.
Thank you so much, Alex! Scotland is amazing. I really can't wait to get back to see more! I'm glad you got to experience it and this brought back some happy memories for you!
King James the VI and I just happened to play where I once played as a child, the earth makes us all commoners
I was born in stirling in 1956 raised in denny its a lovely town stirling ❤
I’m glad you came back to Scotland ❤️
We can't wait to return again!
Nice guys!
Thanks so much!!
short n sweet, well spoken .
Thank you so much!! ❤️
Im from Stirling, loved your video and your history. I learned alot from your camera work on this
Would of been nice if they’d visited the beheading stone ,Stirling bridge and then headed up the Glasgow road to battle of bannock burn
@@Wildernessoutside I’m sure this will be done on a later video, as Glasgow road and whins of Milton has a lot of memories for the grandparents
@@avrilcameron363 my gran lived in main street st ninians ,used to head up whins of Milton to play with the lads
My Gran n Papa are also buried in Stirling
Thank you for sharing! About how much time should I set aside for touring Sterling Castle and grounds?
Definitely set aside a few hours if you can! You'll want to wander around all of the buildings and there are many artifacts inside some of them. I would say 2 hours at minimum. It's so wonderful, enjoy every moment!
Hi. Thank you for sharing. I am heading to Scotland in October. Will be visiting Edinburgh and Glasglow. A friend mentioned visiting Sterling. I have about 4 days in Scotland. Would Sterling be worth the visit over Glasglow? Would like to visit St. Andrews as well. Will be taking the train. Don't know how to drive a stick shift or drive on the left.
Stirling is a beautiful town. I love Glasgow too, though. I think if you like big cities, visit Glasgow, but if you love smaller towns, check out Stirling. If you have 4 days in Scotland, you could always do 3 days in Edinburgh and 1 day in Stirling. It's also possible to do 2 days in Edinburgh, 1 day in Glasgow, 1 day in Stirling, but it might be a little bit rushed.
great video. What time of the year was this filmed?
We visited in mid-April! I really enjoyed this time of year to visit Scotland. It wasn't as crowded and the weather was still nice. Of course it rains, but it's Scotland after all! :)
interesting place where my ancestors fought the Scottish Edward long shanks
When you mentioned cambuskenith abbey you didn’t mention that king James 3rd is buried there
I'm planning a trip to Scotland for next November. Do you have any recommendations regarding clothes? What should I pack? I'm traveling with my husband and 2 kids.
Yes! We weren't there in November, but we visited in April and I recommend to definitely bring a rain jacket that's waterproof. The weather changes so much and you'll likely experience rain. I would wear sweaters and layers as well. Have fun on your trip!
Bring warm clothes. We get 4 seasons in 1 day over here. But November is extremely cold, even more so at night.
What ? No visit to Bannockburn battlefield? No visit to the Wallace monument no mention of the houses and the ancient church on Castle hill
The Wallace Monument was closed and under repair when we visited. Unfortunately with only one day, there's only so much you can do. My grandparents home for many years was across the road from Bannockburn though.
I agree the Wallace monument and bannockburn would be a definite visit if possible for tourists
