Note that some of the voice clips for elements failing CAN still be heard legit, there are elemental weapons that give some characters access to elements they wouldn't normal use, e.g. there's an Ice Fist weapon and a Wind Spear. But no party member has access to ALL elements, so most of them are still unused. Also, some of the Persona cut-ins ARE used, for Fusion Spells. I feel dumb now. But any Persona that isn't part of a Fusion Spell has its cut-in portrait unused.
i know its a bit late but could the voice clips for elements failing be heard if the party uses gems instead of their persona abilities since the gems technically allow anyone in your party access to elements not available in their personas
This could be completely false, but I believe that party members use elemental-fail lines when somebody else fails an attack. I remember Yukari using a wind attack on an enemy that blocks wind, and Akihiko said "Tch, wind doesn't work." I could be totally wrong though, this is just my memory.
The party members would still be able to use items to use elements they normally can’t. So I’m pretty sure these voice lines should be able to be heard.
Mysterious Boy (Pharos): Now just sign this contract and you'll be on with your life. *Minato, about to sign it but squints his eye* Minato: "But... this is a certificate of marriage..." Pharos: "Just sign it before I turn into a Greek God of Death."
Don't know if anyone has said it yet, but the first "unused" track is still used actually. It's during the dark hour cutscene with those sketchy people.
I actually didn’t realise what the “don’t look up” line meant until I played Portable and heard Junpei’s line + Yukari’s extra dialogue toward the female character
I think that's most likely the reason why they added the cut lines for Junpei for that scene back into Portable. Also, I wonder if the male route of that game added Junpei's line back in too.
Man Persona 3 was a huge favorite of mine and still is. I remember my level 99 protaganist and My persona (throne) whose stats I had maxed and I remember just playing through the portable version over and over. Thank you for the video, it was fun to listen to, and thanks for the time you put into this.
Wanna share that Koromaru has a unique bark when using a Healing skill, its kinda echo-y. Found a lot of stuff like this because I wanted to adjust the allie's skill sets. Also Metis, has a temp portrait when asking her to heal outside of battle.
One thing that wasn't mentioned: The unused version of Master of Tartarus also has a different sounding vocal section. To me though, it sounds atrocious and the final version's vocal section is better.
@@BigKlingy there's a debug code for cutscenes like that in persona 3 fes. press square to activate freecam mode after inputting its code. it's on the persona 3 fes page on tcrf.net
Well, since we've seen in Persona 5 where they finally show us pictures and objects which can't be seen in the scene itself on the screen, unlike the previous Persona games before where they just describe what's in it, but we the player can't see it, they'll carry that over for the P3 remake. One part of a Social Link in the female route in Persona 3 Portable I found lacking without the ability to see the picture in someway is one part in Saori's Social link where both she and the female protagonist were called over to the faculty office and Mr. Ekoda shows them a magazine article containing lies about Saori. I wish that part lets you see the magazine article picture itself instead of just having a text box describe what's in it, there's other scenes in the game that has this problem too. So, now that we've seen what Persona 5 did to solve that problem, they'll incorporate it for the P3 remake.
The alternative Orpheus art is used in the Fusion Spell. I think the 1st song was played on the cinematic where a guy gets turned into a Shadow. At least, partially.
Huh, I guess it is. Actually come to think of it, I think the Persona cut-ins ARE used in Fusion Spells, I guess the only ones that go unused are for the Personas that don't have Fusion Spells.
@@christinablixthenningsson3529 Best thing!!!! I know at least that there is this fruity fanfic where the male protag was drugged with aphrodisiac and Shinjiro soothed him to sleep. Makoto acting like a kitty first time on catnip was so cute!! :D

I have to wonder whether that was intentional or whether it just came about due to porting P3's engine over. Kind of like how Pokemon Emerald had all of FireRed/LeafGreen's OST in its code. P4 was essentially made as a mod of P3, according to most sources.
@@BigKlingy I mean, it certainly makes sense. I've been scouring the cutting room floor, and it seems that no one found it in Persona 5, which certainly supports your theory.
@@PineappleLimonov well the reason why no one would have found them in P5 is mainly because of two factors: 1. The aforementioned source that P4 directly stemmed from P3 probably came from the fact that they were one the same console with roughly the same engine and development cycle. Persona 4 probably had it's early days spent as a Persona 3 'what if?' scenario, then scrapped it at a later date to make the real P4. They wouldn't of removed the track because it was helpful to test gameplay they were working on. 2. Persona 5's development can be traced back to Catherine, which is on the PS3, the current generation console at the time. P5 used the Catherine engine, probably used Catherine music in beta, decided to leave it in for minor events that can take place (Catherine Tracks are used ingame for cinema dialogue cutscenes, you can hear them in the back) The development wouldn't use any P3 fanfares until working on the game. My theory is that in between Catherine and development period for P5 the studio completely started over after the 2011 Tohoku earthquake, changing the entire theme/approach to the game to how people view their country. This would scrap all of their beta used music and start fresh from the ground up. Tl;dr - an earthquake made the 9 year development cycle in between Persona 4 and 5 so vastly different from the previous games, causing all older elements, and therefore music, to not be used.
Hearing "Almighty attacks wont work" from Junpei while playing The Answer, I'm upset he never learned Megidoleon. Yet when I pop a magic mirror against Yukari and Mitsuru and they spam it every turn together. Props reaching Nyx just to test Mitsuru's voice clip of Almighty attacks.
That's because Moonless Gown is Tetrakarn and Makarakarn and Almighty Repel all mixed in one, if the skill is reflected by anything like Tetrakarn, if they aren't normally immune to it, there's no voiceclip for it. For example, If they drain ❄ normally and Mitsuru attempts to hit them, She will say Ice is ineffective.
It's a Shin Megami Tensei thing. Cerberus was one of the very first Demons to appear, dating back to the original Digital Devil Story: Megami Tensei novel, so he just happened to have one head there and the design stuck. In SMT1, Cerberus is created by the MC's family dog being fused with a Demon, so it having one head is a bit more justified there.
I'm quite late, but I thought I'd mention that deleted scenes 1 and 2 actually appear in the manga. The one with Toriumi is practically the same (wording and all from the official translation I read, with a few changes of course) whereas Yukari's takes place after Junpei has joined the group and you've had a briefing on the Dark Hour etc; with Yukari talking about Toriumi going on with how 'its the most important time of the year' and how she made them herself. Whilst I don't think this was done on purpose and was merely a coincidence, it's quite funny to point out.
I feel like this might have been intentional, and the translators of the manga might have known about this unused dialogue if the official manga translation is similar.
9:57 When you said the track may sound like Kamoshida's Palace Theme, I thought, "oh it must just be a little coincidence, or something" but as soon as I heard it I was like, wait a second...
@@pastyIeAlso the VA of Catherine and many smaller roles throughout the Persona series. Michelle Ruffe has such a distinctive voice it always makes me jump when I hear a random nameless NPC in Persona with her voice lol. She's an excellent voice actor for sure though
'uses nocturne as a base' oh yeah they milked that engine to hell... Lol marriage contract with shinji. Oh yeah, wondered why that line was there on p3p.
Well then P3's engine went on to be used for P4 (to the point where P4 is essentially a romhack of P3) I feel like Nocturne's engine was used for Digital Devil Saga as well. (Early models of the DDS characters are in Nocturne's data) I bet a lot of players would want that... There's a lot of lines that got added back in in Portable.
I personally like both... Portable has a slight edge for me since you can enlarge the map in Tartarus... FES made me feel like I was playing a first person game or something lol
Enlarging the map in Tartarus was something I wish I had in FES. So many times I found the stairs but lost track of the way back to them while exploring the rest of the floor.
The unused dialogue about mitsuru's bike is used in the first movie. Also, it's interesting that there is so much cut content translated and dubbed in english since this is a japanese game.
What I'm guessing happened was they dubbed the script into English without knowing which lines were used and which weren't. If the lines were still in the code, the translation would probably break if they had no English equivalent.
When Mitusuru says to continue looking for Fuuka, am I the only one who noticed that she referred to Fuuka on a first-name basis? She usually refers to the others by their last name. Also, Spirit Drain is technically not an attack. It's a skill, yes, but it doesn't do anything regarding the target's HP, merely stealing MP. I also don't think Mitusuru's "resistant to almighty" quote would trigger against an enemy that reflects attacks.
If I LP Persona 4, I'll definitely do that. Persona 4 has a lot of very interesting unused content, most infamously the unused Yosuke voice clips implying he was going to be a romance option. Also, the writers clearly had fun when writing fail messages for the Shuffle Time cards that can't fail: Please write this bug up, O noble QA tester. The Empress has failed. This is a bug. Unlike real life, The Lovers aren't supposed to fail you. This is a bug. The Moon is made of green cheese and cannot fail.
I actually heard that "strange world" song from Raidou coming from another room in my home, thinking that my brother was replaying Persona 5 a few weeks ago. It does strikingly sound like Kamoshida's palace, especially when all I really heard from the other room was the 'bass'-y part of the song.
Yeah, my guess is the other clips about this would've been used for if other party members' certain attacks doesn't work and not if their own attacks doesn't work, pretty much like that bit from the movie you've described. Most likely, the clips would play for if the protagonist uses these attacks, but fail. It makes sense because he's a silent protagonist.
The elemental voice lines actually work if you use items that deal those damage types (for example Yukari will say fire doesn’t work if she uses a fire item) although the physical attack types would still be unused since there’s no items for those.
@@NovaXII it was in the official p3 artbook or p3 club book which had the developers thoughts, though both works isn't completely translated. (Even after 15 years oof)
Istg in Portable there’s a mini boss in Tarturus while not immune to almighty, can resist. I’ve heard Akihiko saying that line before when we did an all out attack .
I'm guessing voice actors are given the entire script and told to voice everything, something might have broke if a clip wasn't dubbed, even if it was never used in-game.
Yo the Chidori sketch book one is bullshit, when I was playing it was EASILY visible and I remember finding it rather comedic because Junpei would be like “what are you drawing” and it was obviously Tartarus
Seeing this much cut content, I wonder if they'll bring those back for the inevitable remake just like how some of the scrapped lines were brought back for Portable. Also, Junpei was in fact going to be a romance opinion in the female route in Persona 3 Portable and I'm pretty sure the reason the whole lovers route with Junpei was scrapped is because of Chidori and this one scene you can have happen which was in FES is carried over to Portable and they want to maintain that whole side story in the game, even in the female route. And I get the feeling that even if the lovers route with Junpei did remain in the final game, it would've been awkward, weird and even out of character for him to ditch Chidori in favor of FeMC. Sure, we did see this sorta thing before in Persona 4 with Naoto and Kanji, but the lovers route with Naoto was fully planned to be in the game already along with the thing with Naoto and Kanji being heavily implied throughout the whole game, both opinions for how the player wants to go with this was fully planned at the orignal game to begun with. Here, the whole thing with Junpei and Chidori was already fully planned, established and many players have already accepted it all in the orignal P3 and FES when you only had the male protagonist to play as, what P4 did with Naoto wouldn't really work at all with Junpei at this point in Portable. Also, Mitsuru's cut line from before the November full moon operation is another one of the lines that was added back into Persona 3 Portable. Also, weird thing is that line from Ikutsuki, even though they changed it for FES, they actually added the orignal line back into Portable, which is weird since I'm sure the reason why the orignal line was changed for FES is what you theorized.
So a thought crossed my mind, what if they used the unused versions of Voice That Someone Calls when going up to kick Avatar of Nyx’s teeth in? Like… go from V3 when you’re actually in the lobby, V2 for when you get into Tartarus, and V1 for when you’re like… 4 or less floors away from the final fight? I personally think it would have put more tension in the atmosphere, that droning sound combined with the bass-y sounds give off a feeling of emptiness and dread. (Which would be fitting for such an important fight). I also actually used V2 of Voice That Someone Calls in a silly meme video I made, mostly because I watched your very informative video. Thanks!
The first unused song you showed sounds like it could belong in the bad part of town, where all of those delinquents hung out. I realized something interesting about the Loki personas in each game. Each one looks different from the last. P3 Loki looks like a normal human just with purple skin, P4 Loki looks more vampiric/bat like, and P5 Loki is covered in black and white stripes. Also Loki may have been changed to specialize in ice because Surt was already a fire focused Norse persona, and they did not want to repeat that with Loki despite him being more of a fire god originally. Funny now that Loki is more associated with ice nowadays due to MCU Loki. Speaking of MCU, I saw Infinity War last Friday! I really liked it, but man was it emotional. The people talking about it were right in the feels department. Maybe those comments were meant to be said to comment on other party member's attacks being non effective.
I can hear it used that way, definitely. I believe Loki didn't get a modified design in P4 until Golden, the original version used his P3 design. And I think this updated Loki design originated in one of the DS games, either Soul Hackers or Devil Survivor. Also, it is funny how Loki became more associated with ice (even getting Niflheim) due to MCU stuff. (As much as I don't like what MvC Infinite ended up being, I would've loved to see Loki as a playable character. The roster needs more villains, and you could do some really interesting movesets with his illusions and clones) I'll probably see that soon, although I've been spoiled on it. (All I did was click on a Shuri tag on Tumblr because I was curious of how much fanart she was getting... and I got absolutely nothing involving her and tons of Infinity War spoilers. Never clicking Tumblr tags ever again.) There are several elemental weapons that let certain characters use elements that can't normally, e.g Ken can say "Wind attacks aren't working" if he's using Gae Bolg. But the rest of them mainly exist for completeness.
BigKlingy Didn't know that design originated in SMT, it looks really cool though. I would really like to see Loki in MvC too, would be awesome to see. I was only spoiled on two things in Infinity War, so I was still surprised by a lot. Yeah, that would also make sense.
As far as MvC characters, him and Dr Wily are my two main picks. (MegaMan.exe would be interesting, though his games aren't that popular) Infinite had some kinda cool choices but many were used in bad ways (Black Panther being a Wolverine clone, Gamora copying Deadpool). The one new Infinite character I generally hear praise for is Jedah. And Monster Hunter.
BigKlingy I kinda wanna see Copycat, also known as Vanessa Carlysle's mutant form in MvC. I mean, with Deadpool 2 coming out soon, it would be a great advertisement for it, also putting Negasonic and Collosus in, though I dunno if they're in the game. Her power is copying the look and powers of whoever she touches, so she could be rather interesting. Maybe like a character that has multiple attacks from different characters, dunno of that type of character has been in MvC yet, so it would be interesting.
The way you described Copycat sounds like a Mokujin or Edge Master type character, but copying powers on touch could be an interesting gimmick, kind of Mega Man-ish. Colossus I feel you wouldn't be able to do that much with, he's really just a big strong guy, which MvC already has a lot of (Haggar, Nemesis, Thor, Hulk, Sentinel kinda) Before Infinite made him and assist character for Rocket, I really want to see Groot. A character that tall and thin would have interesting properties. Wasn't there unused data suggesting Dr Octopus was planned for MvC3? Man, he would've been awesome.
Now that the Answer and FES in general is over... LET'S GIVE A BIG THANK YOU! Thanks Klingy Also the videos from The Journey are going to be my go-to source for when I do my project in writing class (We take something that already has a story and write it in a different character's point of view) So now with the videos as reference I can write the best Aigis/Journey script! So um, thanks again
Yep, I'm planning on doing that (I'll likely have to write a section explaining everything that went on up until that point) and it was a toss-up between Yukari-Answer and Aigis-Journey and because of the Gary Stu story, I can't take the Yukari-Answer idea seriously anymore
@@sakura368 Nothing! I definitely did not Action Replay my copy of Pokemon Diamond once! (I actually didn't. I never owned it, nor did anyone I knew who did let me use it.)
I remember playing through persona 3, and I don't know if it was a thing with the wide-screen mod I was using, but at one point I was actually able to see Chidori's sketchbook and I saw Tartarus, I just assumed it was part of the game
The voice clips of the attacks failing maybe it’s for the Magic Gems that perform attacks, And all of SEES being able to say it, it’s for a situation like Mitsuru (Ice) used a Zionga Gem and its repelled The almighty voice lines are maybe for the gems that perform attacks like Megidola
7:07 at the beginning of the game there’s a scene of a guy listening to the radio and as the dark hour starts he melts. The song is heard from his radio at the start of the cutscene. (I’m in like 6 years late but shhhh)
I may as well say I don’t believe the 3 unused Tartarus tracks are unused. I believe they are just layered onto the final version as ambience. Probably just kept them for reference.
Regarding Hypnos, Moros and Medea, you can use them technically but they don't have any base stats or moves which may be why they crash the game, unless you specify their stats and moves with further codes. Doing that worked for me, although I have my doubts they'll work well in the Velvet Room...
There were actually in-game cutscenes that were in progress, but were cut and left unfinished in the game's files. One of them I feel should've been in the final game is a scene where Ms. Toriumi introduces her class to the protagonist. This scene most likely would've taken place after the Welcoming Ceremony part on our first day at Gekkoukan. The cutscene is left completely in Japanese and I don't know Japanese, so this is just me guessing what happens in the scene based on the character portraits being used, the text boxes and what's going on in the scene itself. My guess is what happens in the scene is while Ms. Toriumi is introducing the class to the protagonist, Yukari gets suprised to see him being in the same class as her, Toriumi asks if she has a problem with it and Yukari is like 'Uh, no, just suprised'. And the other classmates would started the gossip about Yukari being in love with him. And most likely, this is how the protagonist would've catch Junpei's interest in wanting to talk to him, which he does after school. I always find it weird that in the final game, we just cut straight from the Welcoming Ceremony to after school where Junpei goes up to us. It's the big gap between that always bothers me because we never get actual context for the after school part on our first day, it just happens without any explanation. Yes, Portable kinda fixes this by the bit where we can check which class we're in on the bulletin board where on top of finding our name in Class 2-F, we also see Yukari's name in the same class, which that wasn't in the orignal game or FES, but that still doesn't explain why Junpei wants to check us out on our first day after school. The other reason why the scene should've been in the final game is that I always find it weird that in terms of class introduction scenes, the protagonist is the only one who gets left out of having one while Aigis and Ryoji each get one. It's always weird. In Persona 4 and 5, they would make sure to include a class introduction scene with the protagonist, but not Persona 3? My guess is they wanted the beginning of the game to be short and quick to get out of the way and get straight to the game and they felt that the class introduction scene with the protagonist was pointless and would drag the game's beginning to becoming longer, much like the other parts of the beginning being cut, especially since I'm pretty sure Ms. Toriumi would've mentioned the death of his parents to the class in the scene, which she already brought that up when he meets her at the Faculty Office and in the many school Social Links, she would tell them about it, but I still feel that the beginning is just missing without the class intro of the protagonist scene. I don't care if it would make the beginning longer, I just wanted it in the game, and they didn't even bring it back for Portable either. Hopefully for the inevitable remake, they'll actually bring this lost cutscene in the game.
I realized something, Nocturne is the only SMT game to have a subtitle related to music. I find that interesting, imagine if, rather than name by numbering for the games, they had extra titles relating to music. For example (Naming persona games 3 and onward in order) Persona: Alternative, Pesona: New wave, Persona: Pop (Q), and Persona: Progressive. Honestly, due to my love of music, I would have liked to see stuff like what nocturne did more often. Though my idea may not be the best. I just like it on paper.
Well, I guess Tokyo Mirage Sessions had a musical theme to it , but it wasn't very successful. (A shame, I think its gameplay was actually really solid, it just had nothing to do with either parent series aside from skill names)
BigKlingy TMS is that game that I can't bring myself to hate. It has good gameplay, and if it wasn't previously marketed as FE X SMT it probably would have sold well and no one would be mad. It's biggest problem was that it's Persona idol, instead of... In all honesty, Devil survior with a slight change in mechanics. It had potential that was wasted in a way that disappoints me. I want to see another attempt at a direct crossover between FE And any SMT story, mainline, persona, or otherwise. Because no matter what, it has a lot of potential. Crossover with mainline, we have an army of demon summoners who (without agendas) like each other (something very rare in mainline SMT). Crossover with persona, and assuming that it's not a bunch of new characters, we get interesting character conversations and a social link system that's more like a web. TMS is a disappointment not because of what it is, but because of what people wanted it to be. Oh I also checked out some of the OST. I like it.
Devil Survivor is Shin Megani Tensei x Fire Emblem in gameplay. Radiant Dawn Part 4 is Shin Megami Tensei x Fire Emblem in story (except a lot less bleak). I still think TMS should've been its own IP. An original Idol-themed JPRG. Attaching that theme onto a Fire Emblem crossover just seems really bizarre, and probably one of the worst marketing decisions in gaming history. Again, the sad thing I find is it's actually a very good game, and even its dialogue is actually pretty funny most of the time. (The game is fully aware of how silly its premise is and doesn't try to take itself seriously, which helps) "TMS is a disappointment not because of what it is, but because of what people wanted it to be." Pretty much sums it up, and I actually hate it when fans do that. E.g. bashing of Smash rosters based on who they WANTED to be in it, not how the actual characters work... although admittedly I'm guilty of that with FE Warriors so I'm not one to talk. I guess I wasn't as affected because I wasn't particularly keen on the idea of a SMT x Fire Emblem crossover anyway. I'd have probably been more interested in the original concept of a Fire Emblem x Pokemon (which was dropped due to Pokemon Conquest existing)
I definitely didn't. Must be a mobile glitch. I don't use UA-cam Moblie very often (why watch videos on such a tiny screen?), so I couldn't tell you much about it.
The part I played is pretty much the entire loop of it. The name of the song is just "p3ct004 01". Yeah. Some say it plays in one of the alley scenes, but I'm not sure.
9:02 tbh i think the level-up theme that was unused for Persona 3 sounds more similar to DDS2's level up theme which has that same type of music vibe that the unused P3 track has.
2:38 Actually kinda cool looking. 10:38 I think I like this version the best. Really creepy and alien sounding. 12:48 I can "dig" it. More minimalistic sounding, sure, but that's nice sometimes. 17:35 Sprit Drain getting bounced back is kinda funny, at least. 25:00 It seems like Yukari lost a fair few individual dialogue lines. Remember the Yukari and Junpei conversation being brought up in YuriofWind's video, where he reached the same conclusion: it being cut due to being redundant. Anyways, I finished Trails in the Sky FC. My feelings are really mixed. Personally, I actually enjoyed the Prologue and Chapter 1 more from a writing perspective than the latter chapters (with 2 being the weakest) due to several perceived plotholes (though I've been told they aren't plotholes and get addressed in SC). Gameplay wise, it took me a while to get used to... Orbments didn't make much sense until towards the end of Chapter 2 as well as my early problems with the turn bonus system. Also, it seems like the PC version smoothed out something about certain enemies that was kinda BS in the PSP version. I'll just link a clip I grabbed for some disbelieving friends: ua-cam.com/video/Ng6O8fF65LA/v-deo.html Also, funny story: due to savestate abuse, I actually spent half an hour trying to win the hopeless boss fight and ended up heavily raging about it before deciding to just die and exploit the "lower difficulty upon retry option". ...Needless to say, I felt like an idiot. And the ending: not only is that a terrible place to cut off, but they literally stuck a hype trailer in for SC at the end. I can't imagine seeing that and having to wait 4 years. Jumped into and beat SC's prologue, but definitely going to slow down now (as SC does seem to be a bit of a slog, from both my experience so far and what I've heard of it). And: Silver Will is awesome but kinda overused.
2:38 You actually DO see this in the final game, when using Cadenza. At least, I think you do. 12:48 I like this version a lot, actually. 17:35 I drain 11 SP from myself! 25:00 Mitsuru lost a couple too. ...You're not going to like this. That "hopeless boss fight". It's winnable. And you need to win it for a Trophy in the PC version. Two, because winning is also required for full BP. And it's the fight I raged about in my Thoughts video. It's winnable, just barely... but it relies on his AI co-operating. If he spams Earth Guard EX or Tearal too much, you won't beat him before your EP runs out. Annoyingly, there's actually very little risk of him actually killing you with the right setup, he just stalls you until you run out of ways to hurt him. The ending was especially jerkish back in the day, when there was nothing hinting at the game being more than a stand-alone. FC and SC were supposed to be a single game, and it really shows. It's part of why I don't think FC holds up as well as a game compared to Cold Steel 1. CS1 was a complete game that just happened to end on a cliffhanger. FC is a 30 hour long prologue to SC. SC is a FAR more complete game than FC, having more side content, gameplay additions, control over your party, double the length of FC, better music.... just don't play it on Hard on your first playthrough. Hard mode in SC was horrible balanced.
I heard from somebody that it is perfectly beatable if you play your cards right with clock up and S-crafts at the start. The thing is, I did get him down to under 1000 HP at a couple points, but he'd get off three turns in a row to heal himself/put up earth guard, slam me with his S-craft, and then confuse everybody before I could even do anything. I will disagree with one thing you said in your "thoughts on" video; Estelle actually develops in FC. It's subtle, but as someone who found her almost unbearably dumb early on she gradually wisens up as the game goes on. Yeah, as I said even Normal feels like a bit much of a step up from FC. Though I do appreciate a JRPG on the 30-hour end of the spectrum once in a while.
I went into that fight without everyone's CP filled up, and there are no enemies to fill it up on beforehand, so I had a harder time. You also have to hope Clock Up EX goes off before he uses Zero Storm to cancel it. (Though baiting out Zero Storm is a good way to keep him from using his worse attacks, keep this in mind for later as the Sky series loves re-using this boss) I had confusion immunity on my party though. I was probably too hard on Estelle in that vid. She's a pretty good character, I just don't agree that she's the best character in the series. Her being unbearably dumb early in is fully intentional though. SC is a step up in difficulty from FC because they expected people to have played the first game, much like Radiant Dawn is a big difficulty leap from Path of Radiance.
I also heard I need to be packing instant death immunity for a certain boss. Also, clock up and clock down are basically essential as soon as you get them. I wager this has something to do with the amount of flack Rean catches as well? Yeah. Though having normal enemies get off multiple turns in a row in the prologue when that wasn't event the case at the end FC does feel like sorta overdoing it (though this could just be due to importing my save and everything starting at level 38). I basically just had to go for preemptives and spam arts, hoping I could kill them before they had a chance to act. In some ways, it's harder than FC's lategame as you're a lot more limited in what you can do (no decent arts, only two party members at the start).
Oh right, THAT boss. The thing is, the dungeon leading up to them gives you a bunch of instant death-nulling accessories, so it's pretty much telegraphed. It's still widely considered one of the hardest fights in the trilogy even with death protection though. (I personally found the second fight with that character harder though) A select few bosses are immune to Clock Down, but those that aren't are made a lot easier by it. I like Rean a lot, though mostly due to Sean Chiplock's voice performance. I guess part of the reason I didn't get as attached to Estelle was that she wasn't fully voiced. She has some great lines that really could've benefited from voice acting. SC's prologue is a lot like a Fire Emblem earlygame: made hard by your lack of options/resources. Doesn't help that Analace has zero long-range capability. (She gets a lot better in The 3rd) Apparently the prologue on Nightmare can easily be rendered unwinnable if you don't use your limited items exactly right. (Cookies are the only reliable way to damage the end boss of the prologue there, you need to be able to cook a lot of them... weird as that sounds. On any difficulty, attack food is insanely good early on, it outdamages even S-Crafts sometimes)
It’s possible that with the Tartarus Lobby Music, they built the track using samples and then mixed down sample by sample, and that the unused version of Burn My Dread was a proof of concept before paying for live horns and hiring Yumi and all that jazz.
10:05 while we're at p5 music sound alikes, the pre-yaldabaoth battle music, confrontation (disc 3, track 26 on the ost) sounds like nocturne's reason battle.
Persona 3 still the best persona to me. Something about the dark colors and mood(suicide to bring forth persona). They got progressively more vibrant as time went on (still dark tho)
Perhaps the elemental resistance cut-ins were intended to be used for when the protagonist makes the mistake? Being silent and all, he can't exactly make note of those himself, so in my eyes at least, it'd make at least a little sense to have one of your chosen party members jump in to make the remark in place.
I may be misremembering but I’m pretty sure the voice lines do work if you use an item to do elemental damage. (Like for example if Akihiko used an item that dealt fire damage he would use his line about fire not working, although it’s only possible with a party control mod)
1:05 Would it be possible with a model edit though? Rather than actually just implementing the actual full files? Idk, I know nothing about this stuff. 3:39 "Featuring Dante from the DMC series". Thought you could sneak it past me, eh. 6:46 Interesting. Pretty nice looking drawing too. 10:26 Jesus Christ, these would've been freaky as heck had they actually made it. Imagine a Persona horror game with this stuff, lol. 12:22 Catchy af!
1:05 I think it's less about the model and more that they just aren't designed to be usable. The lack of a cut-in voice clip is also a problem, and that's pretty hard to fix. It's different from the villain's Persona in the original version of Persona 4, which fully worked as a playable Persona if hacked on. (It has no skills though, so you need to hack those on as well) 3:39 I had to. I was originally going to refer to the game as "Shin Megami Tensei III Nocturne Lucifer's Call Maniax Featuring Dante from the Devil May Cry Series", but that would've been too much. 6:46 I suspect it's actual concept art. 10:26 I kind of wonder if the song was originally going to start out like that and slowly become the version we know today as you go through the game. 12:22 It actually does sound pretty cool. Though the entire verse being "uh"-d is silly. 16:12 Some of the other elements ARE possible to hear, e.g. there's an Ice-element Fist weapon, so Akihiko can say the "Ice doesn't work" line. The Almighty ones probably exist for completeness, but I wonder why they exist at all. Also lol, repelled Spirit Drain = "I give 20 SP to myself, how generous of me!" (RunawayGuys reference)
3:39 Someone I follow uploaded a video of Knuckles and Knuckles mode in Sonic Mania, and I commented "Featuring Knuckles from the Knuckles the Echidna series".
I wonder if the element voice lines are for elemental weapons that deals only magic damage. With them you can make: Akihiko to use ice Shinji to use electric And Ken to use wind
maybe it’s before only specific weapons has specific elements and was just like “better safe than sorry”? And then the dub just translated that old relic.
@@shiningstar737 I think the other clips are meant to be used for if they witness another party member, or most likely, the protagonist, use a power they have that fails, much like at one part in the first Persona 3 movie, Akihiko tells Makoto that fire won't work.
Huh, I didn't think about that
dont forget about the small chance a character might use a element gem
This could be completely false, but I believe that party members use elemental-fail lines when somebody else fails an attack. I remember Yukari using a wind attack on an enemy that blocks wind, and Akihiko said "Tch, wind doesn't work." I could be totally wrong though, this is just my memory.
The party members would still be able to use items to use elements they normally can’t. So I’m pretty sure these voice lines should be able to be heard.

The unused version of Master of Tartarus also has a different sounding vocal section. To me though, it sounds atrocious and the final version's vocal section is better.

@@spydersoup8447 So long as they only touch the game up and don't make the game a charmless remake, that would be pretty nice

Quick note on the fanfare -
It seems that the song also exists in persona 4. Perhaps it was a placeholder battle win theme that they had composed?
I have to wonder whether that was intentional or whether it just came about due to porting P3's engine over. Kind of like how Pokemon Emerald had all of FireRed/LeafGreen's OST in its code. P4 was essentially made as a mod of P3, according to most sources.
@@BigKlingy I mean, it certainly makes sense. I've been scouring the cutting room floor, and it seems that no one found it in Persona 5, which certainly supports your theory.
@@PineappleLimonov well the reason why no one would have found them in P5 is mainly because of two factors:

Props reaching Nyx just to test Mitsuru's voice clip of Almighty attacks.
Thankfully I kept a save file from right before Nyx, so I didn't have to play all the way to that point.
I've always wondered why Persona Cerberus generally has only one head

There's a lot of lines that got added back in in Portable.
I do like Shinji but I prefer Ryoji, personally (shame he doesn't get to dance even as DLC, it seems :/)
BigKlingy
Which is why I prefer portable to FES. Portable just feels better.
Nice cut in for Dante.
She sometimes refers to Yukari by her first name and there are a few parts where she actually refers to our character by their first name.
OMG THIS VIDEO IS SO GOOD PLEASE MAKE UNUSED CONTENT VIDEOS FOR THE OTHER PERSONA GAMES
If I LP Persona 4, I'll definitely do that. Persona 4 has a lot of very interesting unused content, most infamously the unused Yosuke voice clips implying he was going to be a romance option.

In psp ikutski says "sorry for the bad pun" just like in p3 original
Yeah, I was confused about why they added that line back into Portable when they took it out for FES for the reason BigKlingy thinks. It's weird.
Unused Burn My Dread sounds like it'd belong in P3 dancing. I'd totally groove to that!
Fun fact: In the movies the 1st one to be specific Akihiko will actually tell Makoto Yuki that Fire won't work
Yeah, my guess is the other clips about this would've been used for if other party members' certain attacks doesn't work and not if their own attacks doesn't work, pretty much like that bit from the movie you've described.
For the hermes/trismegestus mc/aigis voice lines
Junpei's persona was originally the mc's persona so.... Yeah you can piece it out

@@NovaXII it was in the official p3 artbook or p3 club book which had the developers thoughts, though both works isn't completely translated. (Even after 15 years oof)
The deleted scenes from Ms Toryumi should stay in the game actually. It makes you feel like she cares for you as a teacher, and that's cool actually.
Istg in Portable there’s a mini boss in Tarturus while not immune to almighty, can resist. I’ve heard Akihiko saying that line before when we did an all out attack .
That's a lot of voice clips for a game that was localized after launch
I'm guessing voice actors are given the entire script and told to voice everything, something might have broke if a clip wasn't dubbed, even if it was never used in-game.
Doesn't infinity block almighty attacks too? Maybe the "???" boss in the answer could've used fusion spells at some point
Also, weird thing is that line from Ikutsuki, even though they changed it for FES, they actually added the orignal line back into Portable, which is weird since I'm sure the reason why the orignal line was changed for FES is what you theorized.
the generic boys stance and hair spikey reminds me of akihiko

Thanks!
The unused fanfare from p3 sounds a lot like 'Backtracking' from the DDS2 OST, moreso than DDS1's level up theme.
The roster needs more villains, and you could do some really interesting movesets with his illusions and clones)
I'll probably see that soon, although I've been spoiled on it. (All I did was click on a Shuri tag on Tumblr because I was curious of how much fanart she was getting... and I got absolutely nothing involving her and tons of Infinity War spoilers. Never clicking Tumblr tags ever again.)
There are several elemental weapons that let certain characters use elements that can't normally, e.g Ken can say "Wind attacks aren't working" if he's using Gae Bolg.
Thanks Klingy
Also the videos from The Journey are going to be my go-to source for when I do my project in writing class (We take something that already has a story and write it in a different character's point of view)
So now with the videos as reference I can write the best Aigis/Journey script!
So um, thanks again
So you're going to re-write P3 from Aigis' perspective? She misses out on most of the first half of the game though.
Yep, I'm planning on doing that (I'll likely have to write a section explaining everything that went on up until that point) and it was a toss-up between Yukari-Answer and Aigis-Journey and because of the Gary Stu story, I can't take the Yukari-Answer idea seriously anymore
Oh boy, Yukari-Answer would be interesting. I'd like to see someone do that and try and redeem her though. It's definitely possible.

Seriously, Junpei's VA reminds me a lot to Quinton Flynn (Axel/Lea from KH & Raiden from MGS)
7:07 I swear this song plays in the back alley area that Shinjiro appears
It does, I was just wrong here.
That first unused one was fire.
That yukari line was prob also removed because she doesn’t like guys that act that way, like junpei...
I bet the unused fanfare was for beating an arcana boss. They have different music, after all.
Oh that unsued song was recently re-used for persona 3 reloaded for the port island side section.
It was actually used in the original too. I was wrong in this video.
Regarding Hypnos, Moros and Medea, you can use them technically but they don't have any base stats or moves which may be why they crash the game, unless you specify their stats and moves with further codes. Doing that worked for me, although I have my doubts they'll work well in the Velvet Room...
10:45 Wish they had gone with this. The Persona games are supposed to be unsettling, as far as I can tell.
7:07 this is used in a cutscene ingame
so you are right
There were actually in-game cutscenes that were in progress, but were cut and left unfinished in the game's files.
(The game is fully aware of how silly its premise is and doesn't try to take itself seriously, which helps)
"TMS is a disappointment not because of what it is, but because of what people wanted it to be." Pretty much sums it up, and I actually hate it when fans do that. E.g. bashing of Smash rosters based on who they WANTED to be in it, not how the actual characters work... although admittedly I'm guilty of that with FE Warriors so I'm not one to talk.
I guess I wasn't as affected because I wasn't particularly keen on the idea of a SMT x Fire Emblem crossover anyway. I'd have probably been more interested in the original concept of a Fire Emblem x Pokemon (which was dropped due to Pokemon Conquest existing)
BigKlingy Quick question, Did you delete the playlists for all of your let's plays expect for Fates? I don't see any of them on mobile.
I definitely didn't. Must be a mobile glitch. I don't use UA-cam Moblie very often (why watch videos on such a tiny screen?), so I couldn't tell you much about it.
BigKlingy where can I find the full version of the song at 7:07 ?
The part I played is pretty much the entire loop of it. The name of the song is just "p3ct004 01". Yeah. Some say it plays in one of the alley scenes, but I'm not sure.
BigKlingy Thanks for the help!
I only heard it during the 5th animated cutscene: ua-cam.com/video/fPY4M1mzmUs/v-deo.html
Kind of a bummer, tbh.
9:02 tbh i think the level-up theme that was unused for Persona 3 sounds more similar to DDS2's level up theme which has that same type of music vibe that the unused P3 track has.
I feel like i've seen the third deleted scene before. i might have to play P3P again to see if it's there
It might be in that version, it sounds familiar to me too.
I'll just link a clip I grabbed for some disbelieving friends: ua-cam.com/video/Ng6O8fF65LA/v-deo.html
Also, funny story: due to savestate abuse, I actually spent half an hour trying to win the hopeless boss fight and ended up heavily raging about it before deciding to just die and exploit the "lower difficulty upon retry option". ...Needless to say, I felt like an idiot.
(I personally found the second fight with that character harder though)
A select few bosses are immune to Clock Down, but those that aren't are made a lot easier by it.
I kinda wish they left in protagonists being able to use the normal smt versions of party member personas. It would’ve been pretty cool.
7:08 this song is not unused, it appears in the cutscene where you see some experience the dark hour.
There is also an unused healing machine in Persona 3 too.
I think the song played in 7:33 is a early version of the song played in the hotel dungeon
Why would that place have such a cheery music? I mean the beat kinda feels like it tho.
Persona 3 still the best persona to me. Something about the dark colors and mood(suicide to bring forth persona). They got progressively more vibrant as time went on (still dark tho)
Mmm nah. It suffers from first game syndrome and I have quite a few problems with it story and characters

@@christinablixthenningsson3529 It's not the literal first game in Persona but it's the first game in the current persona style

Also the first unused music track can actually be heard briefly in an early FMV, specifically the one where a random guy loses it during the Dark Hour
That's already been pointed out by one of the top comments.
@@BigKlingy sorry, didn't see it until after I posted my comment, my bad
@@VaatiOfDarkness It's okay.
The second song could be used for the school festival if they never planned for it to be canceled by the typhoon. Just a guess.
Perhaps the elemental resistance cut-ins were intended to be used for when the protagonist makes the mistake? Being silent and all, he can't exactly make note of those himself, so in my eyes at least, it'd make at least a little sense to have one of your chosen party members jump in to make the remark in place.
Yeah, especially since in the first Persona 3 movie, Akihiko does actually tell him that fire won't work.
@@spydersoup8447 Yeah, that being the case makes my assumption all the more likely.
I may be misremembering but I’m pretty sure the voice lines do work if you use an item to do elemental damage. (Like for example if Akihiko used an item that dealt fire damage he would use his line about fire not working, although it’s only possible with a party control mod)
Thats really interesting that mitsuru's spirit drain when reflected pretty much absorbs the sp back into her meter
(It has no skills though, so you need to hack those on as well)
3:39 I had to.
3:39 &Knuckles with all-new Funky Mode (yes that jumped up there quickly)
3:39 Someone I follow uploaded a video of Knuckles and Knuckles mode in Sonic Mania, and I commented "Featuring Knuckles from the Knuckles the Echidna series".
The Burn my Dread beta sounds a lot like the original.. the music sounds like it’s singing the lyrics of the final version.
I wonder if the element voice lines are for elemental weapons that deals only magic damage.
With them you can make:
Akihiko to use ice
Shinji to use electric
And Ken to use wind
They are, but you can't possibly here every characters' element lines. E.g there's no way I think for Akihiko to use Fire.
maybe it’s before only specific weapons has specific elements and was just like “better safe than sorry”?
And then the dub just translated that old relic.
@@shiningstar737 I think the other clips are meant to be used for if they witness another party member, or most likely, the protagonist, use a power they have that fails, much like at one part in the first Persona 3 movie, Akihiko tells Makoto that fire won't work.
