I love having a monthly tray. It forces me to really take a good hard look at my collection and be honest about what I really love and will wear. Plus every month I get to “shop” my collection which makes it feel new and fresh. Great video ❤
Yes there are definitely upsides to it. My only concern is that I might feel limited by it, but I guess I can choose something not on the tray if I really want to. Oh and that I don't have a tray 🤣 anyway, I will give it a go. 🥰
@@dr.claire.perfumeI ended up using a bamboo draw organizer, turned upside down and it looks great in my room. Maybe get creative with what you have before spending money on something you are not sure if you’ll use or not.
Hello Claire! Yes, I use a similar process with my collection. 🙂 I do store some fragrances in their boxes in a drawer based on seasonal temperatures. And my fragrance shelves are not overly cluttered. I have a center area on the eye-level shelf where I place seven fragrances that I intend to wear for the week. Each week I choose two or three favorites that I would wear regularly if my collection was smaller. These might have been signature scents for me before I started collecting fragrances, and I would consider repurchasing them after finishing them. I also include four or five fragrances that I do enjoy, but probably not enough to repurchase after they are empty. Using this weekly method, each quarter year or so, I make sure to go through the full rotation of that season's favorites and other loves. This method works well for me. Thanks for this interesting video, Claire! 🦋🧡🦋
That sounds a good system! I like the mix of absolute loves and ones you are less in love with. I think having a smaller collection for work days might be handy for me, but perhaps free rein at the weekend 😊 hope you are well 🥰
Hi Claire!! 👋 I do a Fragrance Capsule Wardrobe Seasonal Tray and swap it out 4 times a year at the start of each season 🙌 I put 15 frags that suit the season on a crystal tray from my late Mother that I inherited. It's the only thing I have of hers & is very special. ✨️ I find the Seasonal tray helps me get empties as I'm only picking from the 15 that suit the current season. It’s great when I get empties and the tray gets more room as the Season goes along. I find it helps a lot, looks pretty, easy in the morning and works with my love of Capsule Wardrobes and making things run smoothly whilst using up what I have. Much Love Fi ❤️🙃🥝👋
That sounds fab. It's a lovely use of the tray too! Pretty and functional 👌 I think I have do trays anyway, I just don't make videos, I segregate the fragrances that are most interesting me to another surface occasionally so they are easier to reach for so I guess that's a kind of tray?! I will film a video anyway for August 😊 have a fab week 🥰
I understand how this could work for some people, but it has never interested me. I have a ridiculously large collection, but I have them organized in a very functional way. I organize by season. I enjoy looking across the weather appropriate shelves for what I am in the mood for, what is appropriate for where I’m going & what I’m wearing. I enjoy being able to see all of my choices at once without being limited to only a select few that I picked out several days before. This saves me time from having to look through my ENTIRE collection everyday, since my heavy winter fragrances are not on my summer shelves, which are also separate from my spring & fall shelves. I see a lot of UA-camrs organizing by brand or color, which may be aesthetically pleasing, but it causes the issue of collectors overlooking what they have since all of their winter & summer fragrances are all mixed in together. In a way my seasonal shelves are *like* having a “tray,” just multiple, large trays. 😂
I know! I completely agree that if your collection is well organised some of these issues just don't come into it. I don't understand at all how people have their collection organised by brand, it makes little sense to me... Other than aesthetics for backgrounds perhaps? I have mine organised by light / dark and feeling / family. I have little pockets of different genres and I keep all of my fragrances on one surface so I have access to everything. I will try a tray and report back, if I don't get on with it, I won't continue. 😊 I don't want to feel limited by it, so if I want to wear something else entirely, I just will! 😂 Thanks for watching 🥰
Hi Claire, Fun topic! I set up a seasonal tray. It helps me select what I want to wear more quickly and it looks so pretty on a shelf in my closet with a decorative mirror behind it. I include about 9-10 bottles and keep a cup on the tray to hold seasonal travel sprays, too. The rest of my collection is tucked away in a drawer where they're still within reach, but are out of the light. 💖
That does sound very pretty! I also have a little cup of current samples that I am testing out, otherwise they'd all get lost 😂 I think I will start with a similar number of bottle to you, maybe 10, and see how it goes. Thanks for watching 🥰
Hi, Claire! Thanks for the video! I started with rotations a couple of months ago (a set of 7 perfumes for every 1,5-month or 2-month period). And It works just like you have described. I get to know my perfumes better, and it's oddly satisfying to see how much i go through the bottles. My goal actually was to buy less and to enjoy more what I have, and rotating really helps. Getting a tray is a beautiful idea, though placing the seven to the front of the shelf just worked in the same way for me.
Yes, I can see that point of view. I think concentrating on a few might be interesting. I really struggle to let go sometimes, so making myself retry my older, less worn, less loved fragrances will help me to decide what I want to do with them too. 😊 It's oddly satisfying to finish a bottle and know that you've enjoyed it and got your money's worth from it too 😊 I may not get a tray, I might just put them separately as you suggest, I have two chests of drawers, all my fragrances live on top of one of them, so I can put the specific selection on the other set. Have a lovely weekend 🥰
Hi ! I have been doing my "Monday -Friday 5 perfumes" selection for years. This is my way to " happily" start my work and of course a way of enjoying all of them with this weekly circulation. Love your vlogs❤❤ Greetings from Paris
Thank you ❤️ Ooh this is the kind of thing that might work for me! Chosen for Mon to Fri, but free choice at weekends 👌 greetings back from Yorkshire 🇬🇧
I just recently reorganized my collection to have the majority put away and been using a fragrance tray for the past few weeks. I organized thw cupboards by season (mostly) so I've been swapping out every week on my fragrance tray and I've been really enjoying it! It definitely has been helping me get use out of fragrancea I forget about.
Ok, well that sounds super positive! I will try it and see how it goes 😊 I hope it is as successful for me! I think my main concern is feeling limited by it or that I want to choose something else, but really there are no rules 😉 I can easily choose something else if I really want to! Thanks for watching 🥰
I have a tray but it’s become a decorative on my dresser! Your video has inspired me to make it a weekly rotation tray and hopefully use a better variety from my collection - thanks so much Claire! Jo from Aus. 🇦🇺
Yes, I had a tiny tray that was actually more for jewellery but I used it for fragrance when I first started collecting fragrances. Nowadays that's been banished so I will just talk about a selection, segregate them in some way and see how much I reach for them 😊 I hope you enjoy making a selection for a tray 😊 thanks for watching Jo, hugs from the UK 🇬🇧
Thanks Claire! Yes, I'd be interested to hear how your tray experience works out. I do use a small tray that holds about 4 fragrances. I feel like my collection is modest at about 50. I like using the tray but ultimately I pick up what I'm craving at the moment. And it also commits me to cleaning the bottles every month😂
I think for me something smaller is probably going to work better, but also I need variety. So yes! Probably a mix of stuff from the tray but with freedom to grab something else if wanted. I imagine if people live somewhere with predictable weather it's easier to choose fragrances for a tray... Here not so much with the random hot / cold, wet / dry weather. The point about cleaning is something that hits home. Me cleaning 125 at once is a lot 😂 thanks for watching 🥰
I sort by season, then i use a monthly tray with about 30 bottles, travel sizes and a small glass cup for samples. I enjoy having a wide selection. I rotate once a month so I don't get bored. This has helped me to declutter seasonally. If I haven't worn it that season, then I put it away until the next year. If I do not use it two years in a row, I declutter. I hope your tray experience is enjoyable.
Hmmm 🤔, maybe I need to increase how many bottles I include, I just started with 10 summery ones but I'm worried that I'll feel restricted. I will have to increase variety with some samples. Thanks for watching 🥰
Good morning 🌄 I do not do a tray! I have grouped fragrances by sensation, i.e. comfort :) I did purchase a 6 Cube organizer (influenced by how I see many You Tubers organize) and I also have grouped parfums by blends (whatever mélange I do that day). It would be a nice experiment for you to try the tray. Very nice video, Claire. Ciao!
Hello! ❤️ Ooh yes! Those cubes are great. My collection is currently grouped by light and dark, and also family to some degree, so I have a powdery group, a fruity group, a chypre group, white florals, vanillas and leathers. That's always worked well for me. I will try a tray though. 🥰
I love this video, it has totally inspired me to inbox many Fragrances I have. 💯I used to have gorgeous fragrance trays in the past. This has totally inspired me to! As I was starting to somehow hoard and not realise what I really have. Edit: inspired me to *unbox* my Fragrances.
Yes, I would love a tray video…before & after. I have several perfumes but, not so many that I lose track of them. Amazing how you come up with videos from such a unique perspective. TY! ❤
Oh thank you ❤️ I try to do something different. Me neither with losing track really, I am at a manageable-ish number. I would like it to head back to 100 though. That would be even better. Thanks for watching 🥰
I love watching tray videos. I used to have a weekly fragrance tray in my bedroom but I ended up wearing other fragrances and my tray was mainly for decoration purposes.😂 I do have a monthly tray but it looks more like a mental note as opposed to a physical tray. Great video, Claire!
I had a tiny one when I had only 6/7 fragrances, nowadays it's been banished elsewhere, it's really a jewellery tray. I think if I do go ahead with this, mine will be a mental note too, I'm unlikely to purchase a tray, I will just put them in a separate more accessible area. Thanks for watching, I hope you are enjoying the sunshine ☺️
Hello Claire. I had never considered making a tray. First of all, I don't like anyone to see my fragrances. They are in boxes. In closet as secrets. Nobody would understand why I have such a lot of fragrances. Second topic is as I am a guest house. I wouldn't anybody to touch my fragrances when I'm not home. And over all I don't want to be obliged to help myself with a tray of fragrances I'm not in the mood for or that I don't want if the weather changes or even if one wish stitches my mind and is.not on the tray. Maybe later when I'll stop working and have more time. Who knows. But you're right, I forget that I own some fragrances and the ones at the bottom of the drawer are easy to forget. I'll try maybe, why not. Thanks for the video as instructive as usual. Best regards from Belgium 🇧🇪
Thank you! ❤️ Yes, I can totally see that point of view with your situation. I'm not sure I will get on with one but I will try it and see. I think there are some days where I really want to wear something very specific and the likelihood is that that won't be on the tray 😂 I hope you are enjoying the sunshine. 🥰
Great video! I started doing a monthly tray once my collection started getting bigger and it has been incredibly helpful for me to actually wear and become familiar with my scents. Even the ones that might have been forgotten 😅 plus it gives something to look forward every month, it's like shopping in my closet! I learned about tray rotations from YT and it has been extremely helpful for me ☺️
Thank you! ❤️ I agree, I just picked ten for my August tray and it felt weirdly exciting, a bit like shopping. I will see how it goes and whether I end up wearing them. I will report back ☺️ I'm happy you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching 🥰
I love this video. Thank you. I personally do not do monthly trays. I do seasonly trays, and I absolutely love them. I only have about 10 perfume bottles in total and I love to change them according to the season. But I always add a small handful of samples to the tray to try over the coming weeks. Samples that, when I got them, I had assigned to a season. This way I never get bored of my smallish perfume wardrobe, as I have the possibility to try something new when in the mood for. May be you would like to try a seasonly tray? hugs, Gudrun
Hi Gudrun! Thank you ❤️ I'm happy that you enjoyed this. Yes for sure I will try a tray, perhaps monthly or maybe for the rest of summer, I'm not sure as yet, but I will do it somehow 😂 samples will definitely add variety, you are right! I have a lot of mine to try still. Have a lovely week 🥰
OK! You talked me into it! I have a huge, diverse and beautiful collection, but everything is carefully tucked away in boxes in a cupboard to keep them away from light. This tray creation sounds like a fun Sunday activity to prepare for a work week.❤
@@dr.claire.perfume I am on my last day of school holidaze before starting my teaching again, so still blissfully organizing. Because I work with kids, I avoid my beloved attars and ouds during the day and do the more child pleasing vanillas. I also want to add a handful of samples each week to the tray. I will go weekly.❤
I just had a unintentional fragrance tray mainly because I was working out of state for a month. I used up quite a few travel sprays that way! Your memes were so spot on! It was really fun to see what you were going to use next 😂
Yes, that's a perfect opportunity isn't it? And it's quite satisfying from a reduced clutter point of view too. 😊 I'm happy that you enjoyed the video. This may have been what? 7 mins but it took an absolute age to edit 😂
I have all my fragrances on the top of my tall dresser. My collection is not huge. It’s a horrendous mess sometimes but it helps me see what I have. I do have a tray on there for what I reach for the most. I’ve learned a lot about how some fragrances I adore perform differently from one season to the next, or if I’m on my monthly, or even whether I over or under spray. It truly is a journey in the sense that one perfume can be a love or a meh depending on the circumstance. Yes, I have always had a tray and it helps me to cycle through them and remember them better. Plus, the bottles are like jewels. It’s nice to admire their beautiful designs.
Yes the bottles are worth displaying a lot of the time, they can be really pretty. I totally agree that each fragrance has its moment with moods, times and weather conditions. They can smell fab or really not fit and bother me. It's something that I never really thought about or realised until YT. I will try a tray. Thanks for watching 🥰
Hi Claire, I do a monthly tray, I put an ornament on it as well to represent that actual month. Aesthetically it matches the prefume bottles and the vibes they give off, so it can be a joy just to look at :)
Great video Claire! I am enjoying my summer trays this year, but I recently got a new shelving unit and I set out all my fragrances (except for the ones on my summer trays and my fresh and clean tray) and I’m seeing many of the benefits you mentioned in this video- I can’t believe the difference now that I can see my collection as a whole, rather than most of the perfumes being in drawers. I feel like I understand my collection better and I’ve already decluttered a couple of fragrances. 😁 It feels much more manageable and less overwhelming to me!
Thank you! ❤️ I agree, I keep all of mine out organised in scent families and light and dark on a chest of drawers. I don't understand how people cope with it organised by brand, that's total chaos for me 😂 Also, I know if I put some away, I would forget what I have or justify buying more. I don't want my collection to grow if possible. 🤞 I will try a tray next month and see how it goes. If I had more room I'd love some shelving, you sound like you are enjoying it. 🥰
@@dr.claire.perfume I don’t want mine to grow either really, I think it would be wise to declutter one perfume for each new one I purchase, or only buy a new one if I use a bottle up for example. Will I stick to this resolution? Only time will tell!! 🤣 I agree, I could not organize by brand that wouldn’t work for me at all 🤪 lol Can’t wait to see how your tray goes! 😊
Hi Claire, I would love to see monthly or weekly perfume rotations or trays, it might inspire me to not stick to the same old favourites day in day out! I have a tray of ones I can always wear whatever the occasion but I still find myself looking in my drawer for others, and if I don’t wear something on the tray for a while it gets moved back into the dark drawer 😂 I would also be interested to know how many fragrances you would pack for a holiday, because that decision takes me such a long time. We could go away for a weekend and I would take 5 or 6 fragrances 😅 Thanks for the video as always and enjoy the rest of the weekend x
Haha 😂 yep been there! Holiday packing for fragrances is complicated. The last time I went away for a few days I took two and that was enormously reserved of me, normally it's many more, but I knew I would have to carry the luggage so I think that thought helped 😂 normally it would be 5 and perhaps some samples too 😂 I will definitely try a tray for August 😊 thanks for watching, have a lovely week 🥰
Hi Claire! I don’t do well with trays but I make sure to rotate my perfumes every season. I’m a mood reader and same applies to my perfumes. A tray would be too restrictive for me but I love watching other people’s tray of the month! 🙂
Hi Julie, yes I think if I'm not in the mood for anything on the tray, I will have zero qualms about reaching for something else 😂 I will see how it goes. If it doesn't work, it doesn't work. 😊 Hope you have a lovely Sunday 🥰
I do like a tray sampler because you can try many fragrances for a lower price and get to know if a certain fragrance works for you! I do not have enough selections here to do a fragrance tray myself but luv the idea! Thanks Claire 🥰🥰🇨🇦
I have a small tray which can display around 5-6 bottles. I switch out what is on my tray every day or two as I interact with my collection and I see something that looks exciting to me or I haven’t worn in a while. Sometimes I’ll arrange it by bottle colour or by note and try and stick to a theme for a few days. I’m looking at my larger collection pretty much daily regardless, but the tray allows me to focus on, admire and display a select few at a time and I like that.
That's probably the flexibility that I need. I don't think I will be too strict about it. I will try it for a month and see how I get on. I can see that it makes you appreciate what you have and that's really a big upside. 🥰
Yes, Claire it is a great idea. I have many perfumes and get confused on what is recommended for the season. I have spring/summer and fall/winter all squished together. Too many perfumes and would like to go by season and some emotional ones. I would love love your perfect knowledge of guidance. .
I think it's just what you feel is right, we're all different, I guess try a bunch and see how you feel about them in the season you are in, perhaps sort them into groups where you store them as you go. Hopefully it will all become clearer 😊 thanks for watching 🥰
I think it's a great idea. Exactly i do forget perfumes I love but my favorite ones get all the attention. I love too hear how you put together a tray, a little of everything or do you go writh season perfumes. Big hugs from Denmark. 💝🌹🥰
I'm really not sure! 😂 I think if I do do a few trays, I will probably vary the themes and how I put them together but I will start off with ones that I want to reach for in August and see how it goes. Hugs back from the UK 🇬🇧
Hi Claire 🤗 I do weekly trays but I fail all the time at reaching for them, I think I enjoy the Aesthetic of it😉 although when I place my new purchases I can weed out the ones that smell similar to others! Which is great because I hate having perfumes that smell the same I can keep one only lol 😊
Yes! The aesthetics are something powerful I think! It makes you think of a fresh and new in-store experience. I agree, if there's something new I've got already, I will end up reaching for the better one from my point of view and leave the other, so in general, that's a bye bye. Hope you are well 🥰
I have my perfumes on a try though really it is just a small mirror. Yes seeing them on display makes it more likely that you will use them. Yes handling fragrance does make a big difference. And whats nice about the try when it is front and center is that you can rotate them out. Plus they can look pretty too. I use mine ALL the time.👍🥰
Reason 2, oh yes so so pretty!!! ❤❤❤ and 3. yep I am loving them and using them more. 4 $$$, yes I am spreading my love for what I have…. So far you are spot on!
Dear Claire I love perfume... it's something that most people in my life from family to friends will never understand... Anything beyond 3 is crazy and hoarding. I'm glad the internet exists bc I realize there's people like you and I am not alone... I've started using a weekly or monthly tray so I can force myself to use the ones I've been neglecting and forgetting about.
That's fab! ❤️ I get it 😂 people ask me how much fragrance I own at work and I see their faces when I tell them. It's just a hobby... For some people it's clothes or bags or makeup or homeware. For me it's fragrance. 😊 I'm looking forward to seeing how a tray will work for me 🥰
I have a three tier fragrance carousel that I bought a few years ago. It started as a summer frag system similar to what you mentioned but now it’s more of a mish mosh of all kinds of frags and a space saver. Thanks for the video! I’ll be rearranging my summer frags this weekend 🙂
I don't have a tray right now 😂 I might use a cake stand 😂 the carousel sounds like a good idea with limited space. Right now, where I keep my fragrances is full... 🤦♀️ Enjoy your rearranging 🥰
@@matildajr I live in a very hot country and have found that what Europeans would consider winter scents work brilliantly in hot weather and the European summer fragrances are lovely in our "winters" . The summer scents get gobbled up by the heat and really blossom at cooler temps....cool like 10 to 15 degrees Celsius.
@@dr.claire.perfume it took a while to dare using those cocooning fragrances in the heat and am glad I did.... thank you for the clarifying clip about the trays, or whatever works, because I have heard about it before but didn't grasp the idea....🤩🙏. All those poor bottles languishing at the back waiting to show their beauty but, alas😮....like the beauties in a harem wilting away...
Hello! Happy Saturday to you too! ❤️ Aesthetics are a fab way to group👌 I have mine by light and dark (which is really mostly bottle tone) and scent family, I find that helps me choose. Have a lovely weekend Faith 🥰
Having a tray has definitely helped me narrow the selection and wear more fragrances more often and the rotation helps to satisfy the need for “new” and makes me shop my collection 😊♥️
Yes! Shopping your collection is a big one I think, it prompts rediscovery and reduces that urge to buy. I'm happy to know that fragrance trays appear to be a thing that lots of people do! 🥰
Hi Claire. You have me considering making a perfume tray. I have not made one before because it felt limiting. What made me reconsider is the idea of having a small selection of fragrances to choose from when I am in a pinch for time on my way out the door. ~ Michelle
5, 6 and 7… yYES!!! Except I am new to fragrance (and have overbought every season) 8, declutter? Oh I havent learned to do that yet 😢 9, oh gaps??? Might I have gaps? 10, yes it has been so so so much easier for me to grab my SOTD and am finding some great love for my scents i have. My problem is I am not wanting to switch it up. So as i mentioned earlier I just pulled my first “tray” this month where I took the babies out of their double box situation and have been spraying up a storm… I love this so far
You absolutely do not need to declutter if you are happy. That's good! 😊 I guess what you might want to reach for might be mood or temperature dependent, what you choose for your tray might change when the season change. It doesn't have to be every month. 😊 Thanks for watching 🥰
I like the idea of a tray. Am going to have one in my cupboard at the opera where I work, both my lucky 🍀 scents for the performances and the discreet ones for everyday work. Am storing some of my perfumes in there boxes, but am happy to pick them up as guest stars, or seasonal perfumes, even though it can be great to be reminded of summer and holiday in the middle of the darkest months up here in Sweden 🇸🇪
Yes, I can imagine! When it's dark here for all but 6.5 hours of the day I sometimes go for a summery solar fragrance. Which are your lucky scents? I'm intrigued! 🥰
@@dr.claire.perfume It used to be Angel and also Womanity, but in Vienna I used MFK oud satin mood and loved it and tonight I’m going to play the Rite of Spring and then I am using Scandal by night, because that music was a huge scandal back in 1913. A great feeling to think about that match. 🍀🎹🍀🎹🍀🎹🍀
I haven’t ever thought of a fragrance tray. I’m not sure I have the space for it but I could rearrange my fragrances every season. I will give the matter some thought.
I think my tray will be a metaphorical one too as I don't think I have room for one, but I will segregate 10 fragrances on my imaginary tray and give it a go for the next month 🙂 I think rearranging is for a sure something to try to see if it works for you and certainly would be a substitute for having a physical tray. 🥰
Yup, that's my favourite too 🤣 I've never any time during the week. I have a similar thing in that I have two chests of drawers and I put the ones that I am excited about on a different set. Maybe I am effectively using a type of tray already?! Hope you are well Jim 😊
Well you know I do fragrance trays and I’m definitely making good use of mine this summer ,I have gone to the closest a couple times and brought out a couple more that I wanted to add Looking forward to hearing how you make out with a tray Hugs ❤
It's amazed me how many people DO use them! I will give it a go, except I don't have a tray 🤣 I think flexibility will be key for me, I quite often have a feeling of this is the day for wearing X, and I will not settle if I don't choose it. 😂 So yep, a flexible tray for me for success 😊 thanks for watching and hugs back 🥰
Hello Claire, good to see you! I cant wait to see this, and I am sure I will make many comments throughout, as I have JUST pulled my first tray together this month… I am curious what your reasons are… ❤❤❤
Brilliant, love this breakdown of the topic! I really need to put making space for a beautiful tray as a higher priority in my current renovating and organizing, can't wait to get it done. And a good 'new purchases' display tray. ✨ That said I've had a seasonal 'fragrance box' of mostly decants and oils on my desk for some years now. A literal easy reach to apply or just smell them, which always makes me happy. I switch things up when I think of it, but rethinking on the 1rst of each month is probably a good idea. What I struggle with is putting scents away again unless they're totally out of season, because who knows if it will be forever until it fits my tastes again. 🙈
Thank you! ❤️ That's a fab point actually... Does putting them away stop you thinking about them and if it does, what does that mean? 🤔 Like you with your fragrance box, I have a little bunch of samples and also some minis by my bed, I open the minis and sniff them before sleeping. One I really love for this is my little vintage bottle of Classique EDT. 👌 I find it so relaxing. Anyway, I'm going to try a tray, I hope your renovations are going well. 🥰
@@dr.claire.perfume Thank you so much! ❤ Agreed, those close by boxes are so great, getting you into a whole other headspace instantly. Yes, while it's the also the same type of not wanting to let go when putting away the season's decor, it's definitely also forgetting and them being more inconvenient to reach behind a door. And I may still love a perfume, but when it feels not exactly right I can't make myself wear it. So while what I loved one summer on my tray usually comes back, sometimes putting them away unknowingly seals their fate as a one hit wonder that falls right into the box of nostalgic memory scents.
Hey Claire - I love watching tray vids! Personally, I do have a tray. And then I have a couple of sort-of “junior” trays for stuff I’m sampling and decants. And it does not necessarily work that well for me. Often I end up picking something else altogether based on my mood, activity or outfit. I live a very orderly, scheduled and intentional life, except when it comes to smelly water and there I’m a bit out of control I fear😳😂 maybe that’s the fun of it all? 🤷♀️
Yep same. My picks are very random. I just get in the mood for a particular fragrance and only that one will do that day, which I think is why I am not sure a tray will work for me... But we will see. I also have little groups of untested or little tested samples so I can try something when I feel like it 😊 have a lovely Sunday 🥰
So , reason 1, yep visibility… I store mine all in their OG boxes IN another dark box with a lid. The tray has been lovely to just look at it and I spray all the time when I just walk by (as my summer scents are mostly skin scents so I dont overwhelm when I spray and spray and spray 😊)
Hi Claire, great topic as always! I have my spring-summer collection out on display and autumn-winter collection in easy to reach boxes beside it (I still use them). I have a tray for my work perfumes, which separates more serious/sophisticated perfumes from my personal/fun collection. I have lots of samples I need to go through at some point, and I was wondering if a tray would help me with it. I will try it, but I do like the spontaneity of a large collection so I am not very hopeful. I rather was thinking of writing down all my perfumes (either all or by season) on a piece of paper, putting them in a vase, and randomly picking one in the morning 😃 might be good idea if one is feeling agonised by the decision 😊
Thank you ❤️ Random picking 😱 you are brave! 😂 That sounds like a good arrangement. I have all of mine out but I need to free up a drawer so I can store some of them away. I will give a tray a chance and see how it goes. I have always been worried about feeling limited by it, but it's worth a try. Have a lovely weekend 🥰
Was looking out for your video today. . And couldn't understand why it didn't come up in my notifications. Turns out UA-cam had unsubscribed me ☹️. . Will carry on watching 👍 I've never done a fragrance tray but because i always feel so different about my fragrances every day. But it's good if some fragrances are being overlooked. I've started putting a few fragrances on my dressing table if i like spraying then often and most evenings, so i guess that's kinda my little answer to a focused selection 👌
It's interesting you say that... Because my subs have been very random this week... 🤔 I think I'm the same so far, I put some I'm digging on another chest of drawers to separate them from the rest of the collection. I tried Edimbourg today, I'd tried it in store but ages ago! I really liked the citrussy bright but green opening, but the drydown was less for me. I remember last time thinking it was green and woody but this time I didn't think those aspects were as strong, maybe because it was warm today. I will keep trying it, thanks for the samples. 🥰
I enjoy watching tray videos; it gives a good insight into what are true loves. I've dabbled with doing weekly trays and loved it as I like to plan ahead.
I will give it a go and see how I get on. I must admit that I sometimes end up wearing the same thing when I don't have time in the mornings so a bit of planning might help me. 🥰
I don't have a tray, necessarily, but I have about half my collection out at a time depending on the season and kind of swap out one or two every so often. The off-season or not loving at the moment bottles go in the dresser drawer.
I just made my first. It was fun. I don't mind reaching for something from off the tray. But I pretty much stick to my selection. OMG that large collection 😱 Makes me hyperventilate. I can't handle that many bottles 😂 I agree about getting to know my fragrances. I find it enjoyable. 🌿 I got the idea from Reddit. I subscribe to three YT fragrance channels, so I don't get influencer burnout. I love my small collection ✨
Yes! I don't want more than my 125, that's more than enough for me! It's hard to cycle through them all as it is! Reddit is quite a rabbit hole isn't it? I start reading and end up somewhere else entirely 😂 and... wow, only three channels! That's very few! 🥰
I don't use a tray but I have all my FBs on the dresser at the end of my bed. I greet all my fragrances each morning and smell all the lids to see which one feels mood appropriate for the day. But I have about 40. No desire to have hundreds, but rather a curated selection that I treasure and wear regularly. Big fan of samples and decants for the playing, exploring and "youtube worlding" . FB criteria is to sniff the lid and say "F&*k I love this!"
Yes, I agree, I don't want hundreds either, right now 125 feels like too many. Sampling is really the way forward ☺️ I would rather sample 20 fragrances than buy one bottle for sure. Thanks for watching 🥰
All my bottles live in my tray, and the travels and sample in a lipstick holder by the side. I have to have them out, if they were in boxes or a cupboard I would not use them. Out of sight out mind. I like them on display, like my own little shop, same with my other beauty products ❤
That's how I am, other than my duplicate bottles, they are out for me to enjoy, although they aren't neatly placed or arranged because I have no space 🙈 if they aren't visible, they get forgotten. I don't have time to unbox things when I want to wear something. 🥰
I have a fragrance tray that I organize every season! And there are some fragrances that stay on the tray for two, three or even four seasons! If I am not using an out of season fragrance, I would rather store it vs it becoming clutter!
Yes, I think having all of mine out at once is beginning to feel like clutter. I need to find somewhere out of the light to store them properly when I am not using them, but I need somewhere still easily accessible. I think my trays will be similar if I continue with them, some that never leave the tray, e.g. things that I wear a lot for work. Thanks for watching 🥰
This was the first year that made me notice I did not have designer fragrances or fruity-florals, as I truly did not like that profile. It felt juvenile and ordinary, but it has changed!! Now I need to clean up and organize my hair accessories and nail products! 😂
Yes, I think taste evolves for sure. You just need to find the right fragrances for you. I just cleaned and organised my makeup, it's very satisfying ✨ thanks for watching 🥰
I started having a tray...actually 3 😁 I themed them and observe my behavior 😂😂 The declutter part is so real. Try your tray monthly, bi-weekly, weekly...I'd love to watch it 🎉🎉
Three! 🤣 Wow! I love the idea of some themed trays, what kinds of things have you done? I will definitely do that and not just seasonal. I will give it a go and see how I get on 😊
@dr.claire.perfume Each one of my trays is small; they can hold 5-6 at a time hahhahah I've done themes such as Brazilian perfumes (my home country), Chopping block, I miss wearing these perfumes, Only reds, Only golden, Only blues, I can't live without, All vanilla, I've never worn, The last Spritz (perfume about to finish), I never wear it...and others. I hope you enjoy having a tray, but if it's not for you, I'll you'll analytically observe it and report back to us, which is always valuable. Have a great week, Claire 🎉🎉
Gosh, I love those themes! They such fun! I will definitely think about more interesting things to theme around other than seasons if I do find they work for me ☺️ thanks for sharing 👌
Thank you so much for your feedback, I really struggle to know what interests people sometimes, so it's always good to know what people like to watch. 🥰
I have a lazy Susan in my cupboard that holds the majority of my collection. The perfumes are organized by season on it so as the seasons change, I just turn the lazy Susan so the applicable scents are in the front and easily accessible.
And you’re right about putting your fragrances on a tray to remind you what you have… The number of times I’ve been ready to purchase a fragrance and suddenly remembered I already had it. Lol.
🤦♀️ it's a danger sometimes. I used to get so confused with the names of the Mugler flankers, I think that's the only time I've nearly bought the same fragrance twice. I realised thankfully before buying. I couldn't tell from the bottles because the fragrance was boxed... It's definitely a thing!
Agree with most points....especially if you have too many perfumes....and you don't buy seconds because you don't know that you already have that particular one or even two 🙈🙈
I wish I could do that but I have cats, so no glass can be displayed😸😸 I always see pretty trays and almost buy them but beside the feline issue I can't decide what "theme" I want and having more dilemmas is something that I don't want to deal with... All my fragrances are in their boxes cramped in a closet, I do need more space as I forget about most of them after a while🙈
Yes, I can see that mischievous cats are maybe not conducive to long lived fragrance bottles. The cats are worth it though.... Steve looked so content in your last video. 🐈
I keep my fragrance in the dark, in a cool dry place. They are mostly organized and I have a few, never opened backups and a few never opened treasures. I gave up on boxes ages ago. They take up too much space.
Same, my fragrances are all in one place on one surface in a cool room with no direct sunlight. I have boxes of boxes though, yet I have no idea why I keep them 😂 you're right, they take up so much space! 🥰
@@dr.claire.perfume I think about fragrance a lot. I don’t need a visual reminder. I will spend time organizing and I will make a determined effort to sample fragrances. I do try to keep samples on hand and visible
Yes I sometimes suddenly think oh I really want to wear that today and then nothing else will do. Getting to try all of my samples is on my to do list too. I need to make more time for it. 🥰
I have a tray but I've been using it for my night time scents. I think I'm gonna move them around or get another tray. I so badly need to use more of my fragrances.
Ooh a night time tray would be good too, I do stop wearing fragrance in the summer for bedtime, that seems to be a winter thing for me. Have a lovely week 🥰
Wow! 🙂 Well it seems like it definitely is a thing on UA-cam and in real life too. I made one for August with 10 fragrances and it's all good so far, I'll report back in a few weeks. 🥰
@@dr.claire.perfume I like very much your videos, because you are honest and real. A lot of the big channels i can not watch any more, because they are sold.Theyr opinion is not reliable
I wish I could do perfume trays. I feel like I will be lying to myself because I switch very quickly as to what I want to wear 😂 I always want to give it a try but I feel it will not be realistic for me
Yes that's how I've felt in the past, I feel like I can be very random in my choices. Also the weather here is never stable to be able to select fragrances to wear over even a week 😂 summer and winter in the same few days sometimes 😂
Sounds like a good system. I think in reality that is what I've been doing but I just don't officially segregate the fragrances for each season, I just have them organised in fragrance families and feelings. I also declutter about every 6 months and I do tend to pan things that are getting low if I don't feel I absolutely love them. 🥰
I have a fragrance tray but can never stick to wearing perfumes that are on there. I can’t explain why. I do like the ones that I’ve chosen but still end up going for whatever I feel like wearing on that day and usually not from the tray. I would love to be able to stick to smaller selection but there’s commitment issues. 😂
Yes, I see that issue and I think this might be an issue for me, but let's see, if it doesn't work or if it's masses of effort for me to reach for stuff from the tray, I will say in the followup 😊 it's definitely worth a go. 🥰
I think it's a nice idea, but for me it seems like a youtube thing. First off, the only surface in my small bedroom where it would go is already covered with perfumes, lol :o). I won't be doing it, but I have my own system known only to myself that works well.
I think this is the same for me, I have a chest of drawers with all of my fragrances on the top of it. But I have a second chest of drawers with a mirror and other stuff and I already put fragrances in trying out or am wearing a lot at the time on that other surface, so in a way, perhaps I am already using a kind of tray system? What I want to be is totally honest about what I reach for and what I don't, so if I try a tray and I literally wear nothing on it, I will know that this isn't for me going forward 😂 thanks for watching 🥰
@@dr.claire.perfume You bet! I sort of have an orderly system in a chaotic way, lol :o). I admire those who have such great organizational skills and discipline to do these rotational trays but I can't be bothered honestly. Every day is a new chance to wear something that moves me for that day, and a tray would limit me. I already know what I wear a lot and what I need to give more love to.
I tried the tray thing but then didn't switch it out monthly. Although I've purchased 2 small shelving units with 6 cube compartments (12 in total), and try to group fragrances in categories in there. I need to rearrange things though and declutter a few.
I think this is for me. I live in an old house. I simply don't have effective perfume storage right now. Everything is out on one surface (although it's divided into families and light / dark). I think some better storage would help. I will give a tray a try and see how it goes. As you say, I wonder how much I will reach from it and how often I would end up rotating it. 🥰
In YT world, it's not crazy 🤣, it's around 125, but I would prefer it to be around 100. I feel I can't enjoy them all when I have too many for me to easily rotate through.
@@dr.claire.perfume yeah... especially cause I have my 100+ fragrance collection all on a shelf... every time I wear something I have to take out up to 6 fragrances to reach the one I want... have a good weekend!
Ouch! Mine are all easily accessible because they live on the top of a chest of drawers thankfully. I can imagine that you have to really want to wear something and to have a good memory of where it is!
@@dr.claire.perfume oddly, I know the place of all the frags I have.... most of my fragrances have over 3y in my collection and I have times where I browse through all of them to be reminded of how some smell... I don't just wear them when I need to go out... I think many people in the community do this
You could make a tray with samples for sure, but it's really any specific selection of your fragrance collection, perhaps based on a season for example.
@@dr.claire.perfume oh 🙏 thanks . I never seasonalise my perfumes , I learn more that way. With very unexpected results . It is hard to look at a bunch and decide ! I used to close my eyes and spin & reach like a carnival 🎡 game 👍
The first time I met my friend (we'd met online), it was such a scorching day and he wore Noir de Noir, a fragrance I would only think of as for autumn/winter... Well wow! He smelt amazing! It really made me rethink everything. You have a good point. 👌
@@breannacarels6479 I definitely won't buy a tray, I don't have any room. 🥰
Hello Claire! Yes, I use a similar process with my collection. 🙂
I do store some fragrances in their boxes in a drawer based on seasonal temperatures.
I find the Seasonal tray helps me get empties as I'm only picking from the 15 that suit the current season.
😊 It's oddly satisfying to finish a bottle and know that you've enjoyed it and got your money's worth from it too 😊
I may not get a tray, I might just put them separately as you suggest, I have two chests of drawers, all my fragrances live on top of one of them, so I can put the specific selection on the other set.
Trays can act as "Projects use it up !!" Great video 😊❤
They can! That's another great point. 👍🥰
@@dr.claire.perfume an overwhelming hobby of ours...
😂
This is actually a thing! My good friend has a tray of a month each month, it's pretty cool. Thank you for the great video!
Thank you ❤️ I am happy to hear it's not just on YT 🤣 I had no idea! 🤣 I will try it.
Thank you ❤️ Aah that's good! It's lovely to see the bottles and enjoy them. Ok, so trays are a thing... I should try one! 😊
Absolutely! It is lots of fun! What did you choose? Are you having the same selection for the whole month? How many fragrances did you choose? 🥰
I can imagine that you have to be careful in your choices with children 😂 yes! Samples are the way to go! 🥰
I'm happy that you enjoyed the video.
Hello! ❤️ That's such a good idea! I love that it's a nice seasonal display as well as fragrances. 👌 Thanks for watching 🥰
🤣 I agree, I could not organize by brand that wouldn’t work for me at all 🤪 lol
Can’t wait to see how your tray goes! 😊
Thank you 🥰 and yep, I've had similar thoughts myself and I just can't stick to it. But fragrance is fun isn't it 😂
Hi Claire, I would love to see monthly or weekly perfume rotations or trays, it might inspire me to not stick to the same old favourites day in day out!
I have a tray of ones I can always wear whatever the occasion but I still find myself looking in my drawer for others, and if I don’t wear something on the tray for a while it gets moved back into the dark drawer 😂
I would also be interested to know how many fragrances you would pack for a holiday, because that decision takes me such a long time. We could go away for a weekend and I would take 5 or 6 fragrances 😅
Thanks for the video as always and enjoy the rest of the weekend x
Haha 😂 yep been there! Holiday packing for fragrances is complicated. The last time I went away for a few days I took two and that was enormously reserved of me, normally it's many more, but I knew I would have to carry the luggage so I think that thought helped 😂 normally it would be 5 and perhaps some samples too 😂
I will definitely try a tray for August 😊 thanks for watching, have a lovely week 🥰
Thanks Denise, hope you are well 🥰
I have a small tray which can display around 5-6 bottles.
Hope you are well 🥰
Hi Claire! Ok I’m interested in perfume trays. Listening while doing dishes! 😊
Hi Mona, I hope you are well. 🥰
I have my perfumes on a try though really it is just a small mirror. Yes seeing them on display makes it more likely that you will use them. Yes handling fragrance does make a big difference. And whats nice about the try when it is front and center is that you can rotate them out. Plus they can look pretty too. I use mine ALL the time.👍🥰
They do look lovely arranged on trays. I will give choosing from a selection a try and see how it goes. 🥰
Reason 2, oh yes so so pretty!!! ❤❤❤ and 3. yep I am loving them and using them more. 4 $$$, yes I am spreading my love for what I have…. So far you are spot on!
I'm happy this is your experience! It sounds like a tray is working for you. 😊
I think your own experiences at hotter temperatures are going to guide your choices well, you will know best what works and what doesn't 👌
Happy Saturday Claire. I’ve never done trays as a way to use my collection. Mine are grouped for aesthetics only.
Fragrance tray for the most part helps me choose and focus on what I when to wear during the week.
I will give it a go and report back, it could save me some time 🥰
Hi Claire. You have me considering making a perfume tray. I have not made one before because it felt limiting. What made me reconsider is the idea of having a small selection of fragrances to choose from when I am in a pinch for time on my way out the door. ~ Michelle
Yes 😂 it's all about reason 10 😂 I was worried I will feel limited too, I guess I can only try it and see how it goes 😊 thanks for watching 🥰
I guess what you might want to reach for might be mood or temperature dependent, what you choose for your tray might change when the season change.
🍀🎹🍀🎹🍀🎹🍀
😂 I love that! And some of those are some very big fragrances!
Hey Claire! I enjoyed this video. Every reason you presented is why I started doing the fragrance tray. 💜
Thank you ❤️ I'm happy that you recognise the reasoning, it's reassuring🥰
I haven’t ever thought of a fragrance tray. I’m not sure I have the space for it but I could rearrange my fragrances every season. I will give the matter some thought.
I think my tray will be a metaphorical one too as I don't think I have room for one, but I will segregate 10 fragrances on my imaginary tray and give it a go for the next month 🙂 I think rearranging is for a sure something to try to see if it works for you and certainly would be a substitute for having a physical tray. 🥰
The "save time" reason is the best IMHO! 😜 I utilize a modified version of this because I have all my "favorites" on one end of the dresser.
Yup, that's my favourite too 🤣 I've never any time during the week. I have a similar thing in that I have two chests of drawers and I put the ones that I am excited about on a different set. Maybe I am effectively using a type of tray already?! Hope you are well Jim 😊
Well you know I do fragrance trays and I’m definitely making good use of mine this summer ,I have gone to the closest a couple times and brought out a couple more that I wanted to add
Looking forward to hearing how you make out with a tray
Hugs ❤
It's amazed me how many people DO use them! I will give it a go, except I don't have a tray 🤣 I think flexibility will be key for me, I quite often have a feeling of this is the day for wearing X, and I will not settle if I don't choose it. 😂 So yep, a flexible tray for me for success 😊 thanks for watching and hugs back 🥰
Hello Claire, good to see you! I cant wait to see this, and I am sure I will make many comments throughout, as I have JUST pulled my first tray together this month… I am curious what your reasons are… ❤❤❤
Oh wow! Well we can report on this together and see how we both go. 😊
Brilliant, love this breakdown of the topic! I really need to put making space for a beautiful tray as a higher priority in my current renovating and organizing, can't wait to get it done. And a good 'new purchases' display tray. ✨
That said I've had a seasonal 'fragrance box' of mostly decants and oils on my desk for some years now.
Like you with your fragrance box, I have a little bunch of samples and also some minis by my bed, I open the minis and sniff them before sleeping.
Yes same, if I'm not feeling it that day, I can't wear it. I hope I've chosen wisely for August 😂
Well that's sensible for long term storage of a big collection, I wish I was that sensible. 😂
What a fun video Claire! 🎉 You come up with such unique and entertaining topics. 😊
Thank you 🥰
Hi Claire, great topic as always!
Here for your always informative content 😊
Hey Maude, I hope you are well 🥰
Was looking out for your video today. . And couldn't understand why it didn't come up in my notifications. Turns out UA-cam had unsubscribed me ☹️. .
Will carry on watching 👍
I've never done a fragrance tray but because i always feel so different about my fragrances every day. But it's good if some fragrances are being overlooked. I've started putting a few fragrances on my dressing table if i like spraying then often and most evenings, so i guess that's kinda my little answer to a focused selection 👌
It's interesting you say that... Because my subs have been very random this week... 🤔
I think I'm the same so far, I put some I'm digging on another chest of drawers to separate them from the rest of the collection.
The off-season or not loving at the moment bottles go in the dresser drawer.
same :)
I think I need to free up a drawer, it sounds a good system. It would give me more room too and protect them more from light. 👌 Thanks 🥰
Loved this video ❤
Thank you 🥰
Hi Claire! Never used trays, but have a seasonal shelf! 🤔
Aah yes! I divide my collection into light and dark and have areas of powdery or fruity etc. I find that has been working so far for me. 🥰
UA-cam is definitely a different world!!!
Haha 😂 yes!
Hi Claire ❤can’t wait to hear what you think 🤔
Hi Frances 😊
I love a good tray ! I have to see what I have 🌸
I'm going to try it and see how it goes for me in August. 🥰
I started having a tray...actually 3 😁
I themed them and observe my behavior 😂😂
The declutter part is so real.
Try your tray monthly, bi-weekly, weekly...I'd love to watch it
🎉🎉
Three! 🤣 Wow! I love the idea of some themed trays, what kinds of things have you done? I will definitely do that and not just seasonal. I will give it a go and see how I get on 😊
@dr.claire.perfume Each one of my trays is small; they can hold 5-6 at a time hahhahah
I've done themes such as Brazilian perfumes (my home country), Chopping block, I miss wearing these perfumes, Only reds, Only golden, Only blues, I can't live without, All vanilla, I've never worn, The last Spritz (perfume about to finish), I never wear it...and others.
Great talk!
Thank you 🥰
Hi Claire!🧡🧡
Hi Anat! 😊
I would enjoy watching tray videos
Thank you so much for your feedback, I really struggle to know what interests people sometimes, so it's always good to know what people like to watch. 🥰
I have a lazy Susan in my cupboard that holds the majority of my collection. The perfumes are organized by season on it so as the seasons change, I just turn the lazy Susan so the applicable scents are in the front and easily accessible.
That is such a good idea! ❤️ Everything is accessible but it's all out of the light! Wow, such a good system 👌
Great system. I had a tray on my dining table (no space) and inside my bookcase (no space left!).
Space is always the issue! 🙈
Agree with most points....especially if you have too many perfumes....and you don't buy seconds because you don't know that you already have that particular one or even two 🙈🙈
😂 that's funny! Yes I guess deliberately rotating through them makes you very aware of what you have. 🥰
I wish I could do that but I have cats, so no glass can be displayed😸😸
I always see pretty trays and almost buy them but beside the feline issue I can't decide what "theme" I want and having more dilemmas is something that I don't want to deal with...
All my fragrances are in their boxes cramped in a closet, I do need more space as I forget about most of them after a while🙈
Yes, I can see that mischievous cats are maybe not conducive to long lived fragrance bottles. The cats are worth it though.... Steve looked so content in your last video. 🐈
@@dr.claire.perfume 😸He's a cutie and a gentle giant
I did a fragrance tray for the week and i didn’t know it was a thing until i sow it in UA-cam
I won't ever change, no matter how much bigger I get. I'm not in this for money, it's just a nice hobby 😁
I wish I could do perfume trays. I feel like I will be lying to myself because I switch very quickly as to what I want to wear 😂
I always want to give it a try but I feel it will not be realistic for me
Yes that's how I've felt in the past, I feel like I can be very random in my choices. Also the weather here is never stable to be able to select fragrances to wear over even a week 😂 summer and winter in the same few days sometimes 😂
I do a seasonal rotation and periodic declutter/ panning of my collection.
Sounds like a good system. I think in reality that is what I've been doing but I just don't officially segregate the fragrances for each season, I just have them organised in fragrance families and feelings. I also declutter about every 6 months and I do tend to pan things that are getting low if I don't feel I absolutely love them. 🥰
@@dr.claire.perfume I say.... organize and use your collection the way that makes sense to you.
I will try a tray and report back, it's worth a try 🥰
@@dr.claire.perfume Awesome. Maybe it can become a video topic?
I have a fragrance tray but can never stick to wearing perfumes that are on there. I can’t explain why. I do like the ones that I’ve chosen but still end up going for whatever I feel like wearing on that day and usually not from the tray. I would love to be able to stick to smaller selection but there’s commitment issues. 😂
Yes, I see that issue and I think this might be an issue for me, but let's see, if it doesn't work or if it's masses of effort for me to reach for stuff from the tray, I will say in the followup 😊 it's definitely worth a go. 🥰
@@dr.claire.perfume very interested in your follow up video. If it works for you, maybe I’d be able to use your tips.
I will post a tray selection this Saturday and we will see how I go!
@@dr.claire.perfume Can't wait to hear about your thoughts on it. 🙂
I will be sure to report back. 🥰

Perhaps now is the time! You can experiment alongside me and report back 😂
By the way, how many fragrances do you have?
In YT world, it's not crazy 🤣, it's around 125, but I would prefer it to be around 100. I feel I can't enjoy them all when I have too many for me to easily rotate through.

Hello! 👋
I pick the fragrances I am going to wear by looking at my fragrantica library... So I don't think I need a fragrance tray...

@@victorashul I think if you have them in some logical order to you or in the same place for a while, then that makes sense. 🥰

You could make a tray with samples for sure, but it's really any specific selection of your fragrance collection, perhaps based on a season for example.
