  • The Fortissimus is a defunct event in strength athletics. The name means "the mightiest" and was a multi-event challenge at the end of which the winner is crowned as the "Strongest Man on Earth". It was set up to bring together the strongest competitors on the planet independent of the organizations to which they were signed, and also as a tribute to the nineteenth-century Canadian strongman Louis Cyr, which gave it many similarities to Le Defi Mark Ten International which last took place in Canada in the early 1990s. After its first airing in 2008, the strength athletics magazine Milo described it as the ultimate strongman competition ever held. Despite a successful edition in 2009, a reported lack of a major sponsor for 2010 resulted in the competition being suspended. A 2020 revival was postponed due to the Covid19 pandemic.

This competition was the most complete test of strength ever in the sport of strongman. I know Brian Shaw is looking to bring this type of show back with the Shaw Classic

Louis Cyr absolutely did NOT shoulder that last stone. That’s ridiculous

mateusz kieliszkowski could do it with a little practice, mostly just for the technique and best hold for that stone. He shouldered 410 pound stone 4 times in arnold strongman 2018, and 5 times next year, thats 99 pounds lighter but he was the only to rep it comfortably, and it's a normal thing for him

You didn't shoulder any stone. Let alone anything these warriors did. If an old school referee said he did it it's done. I trust an old school athlete over a worthless UA-camr any day of the week.😂😂 Period...!!!

@@donniebrasco1364 you need to get some help. Your entire page is comment after comment of you raging and losing your mind over benign comments made in jest that have nothing to do with you. That’s not normal., that’s called projection. Good luck to your therapist!

Louis Cyr wasn't close to being the Strongest man who ever lived. Unweighed lifts. No official judging. Basically unsubstantiated, unproven lifts. The Promoter, writer of Louis Cyr's book didn't do his homework! Just another promoter who sees money to be made in a quickly growing sport.

They have some of the actual implements he lifted, including his stone. Can't get much more substantial than that

Yes an internet hater geek knows more than official referees of the old school do. Hate all you want facts are facts. I hate that haters like you invade the hardcore lifting forums of today. A hater is just that a critic who doesn't lift.
