Everyone is like "It's not that high". There's a difference between regular notes and opera ones, this one can literally affect your voice if you sing much days in a row.
For me Sarah Brightman will always be the best, she IS the angel of music, that song was literally made for her. Also, the most beautiful version of hers is the one from "Symphony live in Vienna" she even hits higher notes asjdhkasdj
I know you don't necessarily have to be talented to be a pop star (especially in this day and age) but there are so many singers who do pop that deserve more credit for their voice such as Nicole Scherzinger and Lady Gaga (who went to Tisch School of the Arts, on scholarship too I believe) all deserve more credit for their vocal ability than they receive.
@@marissasifre9026 It's not about what someone else can do, it was about Kim's attempt, and I say attempt, because it was not very good. She had no control of her voice what so ever, she sounded very constricted and very rushed. Especially when you listen to the other renditions, That is just a plain fact.
djsaxby It is a very complex song. It could have been a bad night for her. Some of these girls have to do this 8 times a week twice a day. Yes she may have struggled a little. I’m just saying it was kind of rude how you phrased it. If you don’t have something nice to say don’t say it at all.
@@belarusbraginski8817 I wouldn't say she was bad, that's just kind of rude. She did have very little vibrato, but the notes were still very clear and weren't sharp or flat So I would definitely say it's not exactly right to say she was "bad" just because she didn't have much vibrato
Belarus Braginski she wasn’t really that bad for being 17, most of these woman have had years of doing this while Emmy was only a kid. I am so surprised that she could hit that at such a young kid while most of these woman took years and years of practice. Let’s not get too judgmental
Sarah Brightman was shown twice and both times blew everyone else away. Though the role was originally created for her voice so I guess it is not that surprising.
Sexy Jesus she really wasn’t. Sarah’s control in the coloratura blows everyone else out of the water I’m afraid. When compared to Sarah, Sierra’s coloratura is almost a scream.
And now another Nightwish singer has recorded it: Floor Jansen and Henk Poort. Using the Nightwish metal arrangement, I might add. ua-cam.com/video/plCScjvDOJM/v-deo.html Floor ends on D 6 but holds it for a solid eight count.
My problem with some of them is that they end up sounding like they're just screaming. You have to add the vibrato and take a good breath, the breath is what sperates the notes, so when it's not clear it just sounds like they're getting murdered. Also, like, how? I'm impressed by all still and my sad Alto voice will have to stick with the SING FOR ME parts. 😭
I agree man. I mean, dude, Sierra's vibrato on that E6? it's just insane. Nicole makes it seem so fucking easy. And Emmy has a light tone on her voice that gives the song a nice touch.
Mister Golightly Eh. When she takes a breath, her shoulders go up. This improper breathing technique and weakens the breath support. I can hear this as well. The first thing you should be taught as a singer is proper breath support.
Based on musical performance alone: 1. Rebecca Caine - that E is the clearest, most on pitch, most controlled, she nails it without sliding, and it sounds effortless. Reminds me of Kristin Chenoweth's control on the high note in Wicked. 2. Gina Beck - another very clear high E, closest to Rebecca's. 3. Kaley Ann Voorhies - a very close third! wonderful control. Honorable mention in order, very nice skill and pitch accuracy: Celinde Shoemaker Sierra Boggess Lisa-Anne Wood Rachel Barrel Sarah Brightman in the later performance Emmy Rossum, but I don't think it's fair since it's a studio recording.
Scherzinger began performing in Louisville, attending the Youth Performing Arts School at duPont Manual High School, and performing with Actors Theatre of Louisville. In 2007, she was inducted to duPont Manual Alumni's Hall of Fame as one of the youngest inductees.Since 2013, Scherzinger endowed her alma mater with a yearly $2,000 scholarship named after herself. After earning a scholarship, she furthered her studies at Wright State University majoring in theater arts with a dance minor. During this period, Scherzinger garnered the lead roles in regional productions of the musicals Chicago, Guys and Dolls and Show Boat.
oh.. thanks for the info. just looked her info up on wikipedia. she is surprisingly well-trained professionally. so the metal voice is a stylistic choice then.. well..
Tarja is a well-trained soprano, but she tends to bring too much weight into her top notes. She's got a beautifully trained voice until about the sixth octave, but to be fair, she's more cross-over than anything.
in the movie emmy rossum. hits a B5 and a Eb6 not a C5 and E6- they must've modulated up a key. therefore she sounds flat because her voice has been modulated up a key.
I have to say, some of these girls sound like car alarms. I don't know if it's the audio or my ears but...I'm sure they're great in other places, though! And not to say that I could have done better (no way in hell)
I'm so glad Tarja Turunen was included in this list, I know that her genre is totally subversive for the typical Phantom audience but she did a really good job in that performance
you should watch her performance of Don't Cry for me Aregentina!! Its spectacular, and most wouldn't expect it from her cause shes known as a pop singer
Sarah Turner her vibrato was unbelievably slow...which is what made it sound like it was so sharp. I’m not whether that was just bad control on her part or perhaps that’s just her natural vibrato (that she was unlucky enough to be born with😂)
The korean lady's vibratoes were too slow, it sounded like she was forcing them. The... rock version? was.... kinda disturbing for me.... Sierra will always be my fave
Sierra is my favourite by far. Nicole is a close second because it's just not something you expect from her and did an amazing job with limited training.

Jesus, makin’ us Alto’s feel insecure.
This makes my vocal cords hurt just by watching
I feel you
I’m a low alto and I can sing this(on a good day)
Oml, my Contralto-ness is hurting so bad 😂
@@batmanthechad204 oof...good luck having me believe that
The original music video is so 80’s and cracked out, I kinda love it
Yea
I can hit these notes but I sound more like a teakettle than an opera singer...
That means you have a whistle register, it’s very cool and rare

I have a naturally low voice.....
What a mood

mine goes to high and instead of E6 it's A6
I give kudos to anyone who can even hit that E6

Its actually an F6. 😊

Everyone is like "It's not that high". There's a difference between regular notes and opera ones, this one can literally affect your voice if you sing much days in a row.
For me Sarah Brightman will always be the best, she IS the angel of music, that song was literally made for her. Also, the most beautiful version of hers is the one from "Symphony live in Vienna" she even hits higher notes asjdhkasdj
my favourite will always be Sierra, but Nicole was amazing (for a singer typically performing pop)
Nicole was classically trained. She belongs in musical theatre.
Kim so Hyun sounded like she was in pain.
I think she actually was...
Her vibrato was so slow it was just a scream at that point
I’d like to see you sing what she sang.
No one:
My neighbors dogs at 3 am:

Do you live next to Benjamin Coffin III, because I heard his Akita (Evita) was pretty loud. (Rent reference, just in case you don’t know lol)
Rebecca Caine! The way she connected those first two C6 notes ugh! Yes! 😍
Ok, Nicole Scherzinger is absolutely amazing. Wow!
And she was sick or something during that performance!
Natasha Sarin I didn’t know she sang Phantom until now
Right? I knew she could sing but damn!

Sierra boggess more like Sierra goddess
Yes yes, she is definitely my favourite of all of them!

Yesssss!
Yeees ♡
Most refreshing- Emmy Rossum
Most clean/crisp- Nicole S
Most unique and one of my favorite- Sarah B
Best overall- Sierra Boggess
Sa'Daiveon Newell Emmy was bad. there was no vibrato
@@belarusbraginski8817 I wouldn't say she was bad, that's just kind of rude. She did have very little vibrato, but the notes were still very clear and weren't sharp or flat
So I would definitely say it's not exactly right to say she was "bad" just because she didn't have much vibrato
667th like lol
Belarus Braginski she wasn’t really that bad for being 17, most of these woman have had years of doing this while Emmy was only a kid. I am so surprised that she could hit that at such a young kid while most of these woman took years and years of practice. Let’s not get too judgmental
Tae Taericeu Yeah I guess so.
Sarah Brightman was shown twice and both times blew everyone else away. Though the role was originally created for her voice so I guess it is not that surprising.
nah, sierra boggess was 100x better.
Sexy Jesus she really wasn’t. Sarah’s control in the coloratura blows everyone else out of the water I’m afraid. When compared to Sarah, Sierra’s coloratura is almost a scream.
@@Flickymcbean825 youre really gonnna argue with sexy jesus?.
@@Flickymcbean825 I agree. Sarah was, and still is technical perfection. However, some people do not dig perfection.
Hayden Robertson i wouldn’t say still is but her OG performance will always be the best
I love how the Nightwish version is just plopped in there 🤣
oh my god THANK you for dropping the name of that band, that was awesome and I need more
I actually believed for many years that The Phantom Of The Opera was an original Nightwish song.
What is Nightwish?
And now another Nightwish singer has recorded it: Floor Jansen and Henk Poort. Using the Nightwish metal arrangement, I might add.
ua-cam.com/video/plCScjvDOJM/v-deo.html
Floor ends on D 6 but holds it for a solid eight count.
Bro, it was because of this video that I checked the Nightwish version out
sierra is my favorite
Sierra is so talented, she is simply the best.
sergio vela oh yup
sergio vela by far
Yeah. No contest. She's also the best Fantine in "Les Mis" (Anne Hathaway is right up there with her).
Her acting and vocal capability is unbeatable
I’m sorry I just can’t look at the original without laughing
V trashy same-
dear phandom, please forgive me
V trashy me tooo
Please explain.
Will the Man It just has that 90s cheese to it
Your picture is what I’m listening to right now
My problem with some of them is that they end up sounding like they're just screaming. You have to add the vibrato and take a good breath, the breath is what sperates the notes, so when it's not clear it just sounds like they're getting murdered. Also, like, how? I'm impressed by all still and my sad Alto voice will have to stick with the SING FOR ME parts. 😭
In my opinion:
1. Sierra
2. Nicole
3. Emmy
I agree man.
I mean, dude, Sierra's vibrato on that E6? it's just insane. Nicole makes it seem so fucking easy. And Emmy has a light tone on her voice that gives the song a nice touch.
michaelwashere wow , same with my choice. No 1 and 2.
Plus Emmy was only 17 when it was filmed!!
Emmy? She wasn’t good
You mean Emmi
I don't know about you guys but I'm into the performance of Audrey Proulx until I see the guy's god-awful mask LOL!!
Mister Golightly i laughed so hard😂😂
Mister Golightly His mask matched his acting.
Mister Golightly Eh. When she takes a breath, her shoulders go up. This improper breathing technique and weakens the breath support. I can hear this as well. The first thing you should be taught as a singer is proper breath support.
I didn't said she was good lol. She also thins a lot while she gets higher
XDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDDD
i wish i can hit that note..
wat a voice!
ameen boy Train
I can barely go above the main chorus line, so I don't even bother wishing lol
ameen boy ive hit it a couple times, but it always kills my voice after 😭 on flute it's the f above the staff
Im a bass. I can do that with enormous strain😂
I can hit those notes, it just sounds terrible
Based on musical performance alone:
Honorable mention in order, very nice skill and pitch accuracy:
Celinde Shoemaker
Sierra Boggess
Lisa-Anne Wood
Rachel Barrel
Sarah Brightman in the later performance
Emmy Rossum, but I don't think it's fair since it's a studio recording.
I can’t believe I wasted 9 minutes of my life of ladies screaming “ A H H H H H H H H H H H “
Life well spent I'll say
"Screaming". Yeah, you definitely shouldn't be here.
Lmao🙈😂
P0rn? Ok jkjk JK
Wasted? Don't you mean augmented?
I absolutely love
Sarah Brightman
Rebecca Caine
Celinde Shoenmaker
Emmy Rossum
Nicole Scherzinger impressed me
Sierra Boggess is the best!!!!
Sarah basically just screamed
Taylor Ann Nicole was also sick while singing this!
I was not expecting that metal one.
Styxx Rivier haha same. but let's take it positive man. it reminds us of how good the professional sopranos are in this clip.
Li Haotong Tarja Turunen is a professional soprano; I think she worked at the opera before
oh.. thanks for the info. just looked her info up on wikipedia. she is surprisingly well-trained professionally. so the metal voice is a stylistic choice then.. well..
Tarja is a well-trained soprano, but she tends to bring too much weight into her top notes. She's got a beautifully trained voice until about the sixth octave, but to be fair, she's more cross-over than anything.
KoreanMusicSubs haha, i can tell from her high E. heavey voice cord with strong breath support? more like a female version of dramatic tenor?? :)
in the movie emmy rossum. hits a B5 and a Eb6 not a C5 and E6- they must've modulated up a key. therefore she sounds flat because her voice has been modulated up a key.
To me, she still sounds really enchanting and eerie. I love how she sounded in the movie
I have to say, some of these girls sound like car alarms. I don't know if it's the audio or my ears but...I'm sure they're great in other places, though! And not to say that I could have done better (no way in hell)
Lol 🤣🤣🤣
YES! I THOUGHT THE SAME THING!!
OH GOD I CAN'T UNHEAR IT NOW
I'm so glad Tarja Turunen was included in this list, I know that her genre is totally subversive for the typical Phantom audience but she did a really good job in that performance
Ogm tarja is good, who is she sing with?
Adriana Vera She was the vocalist for a band called nightwish up until 2005. I’m pretty sure she just does solo stuff now
This is the 2nd time I'm watching this and I'm actually really getting into her performance this time. I thought it was pretty good.
But it is transposed a third or something down.
Adriana Vera with Marco Hietala, the bassist of the band!
Many of them were quite good. I will say this... Nicole was the biggest surprise to me.
Carl Michaels Emmy's better
you should watch her performance of Don't Cry for me Aregentina!! Its spectacular, and most wouldn't expect it from her cause shes known as a pop singer
I like Nicole too and she sang love never dies good as well and a fair judge too on x factor 😀
Carl Michaels Same here. I would have never expected that out of Nicole but wow, she did amazing.
Nicole was lip syncing Emmy Rossum's version in that particular performance.

I personally liked the techniques used by Sierra and Olivia. I also really enjoyed their vibrato.
August N Virgo isn’t that BURGESS
Dang, no one mentioned Gina Beck and I’m kinda sad about it, she’s so good! Not just here but her final lair is so incredible.
Kim So-Hyun was awful, I'm sorry. Her vibrado was WAY off... She was a whole step above for most of the sustained notes. Jeez.
Sarah Turner I completely agree
Sarah Turner ikr
Sarah Turner her vibrato was unbelievably slow...which is what made it sound like it was so sharp. I’m not whether that was just bad control on her part or perhaps that’s just her natural vibrato (that she was unlucky enough to be born with😂)
Also could she have deep throated that microphone any further? That shows lack of power right there.
Sarah Turner her vibrato was so slooooowwwww
Can we pause for a moment and acknowledge that Antonio freakin' Banderas made a perfect Phantom?!?!
rrrrrr and he mad good vampir
He was good. You should see him in Evita.
He was the original Phantom in the movie, but it never happened. I would have loved to see it.
I mean Pam almost blew up a hospital room because of him

Not only was her vibrato slow, but it was also uneven. It hurt my ears to listen to it.
Mr. Poopy Butthole exactly. I Totally agree with U

Sierra is my favourite by far. Nicole is a close second because it's just not something you expect from her and did an amazing job with limited training.
Nicole has been trained to sing opera really
Nicole was classically trained.
Nicole is far better than Sierra imo.
I attended the high school for the performing arts with Nicole and can tell you she's trained!
It seems that a lot of directors are forgetting about the fact that "Phantom of the Opera" is a ROCK-Opera at the first place and thus they are skipping guitars in this climax/solo.
Also 7:40 why did he grab her tit?
It's not a rock opera, it's a musical with one rock number. And the guitars suck in it, it just drowns out the singing.
@@googleuser2874 if it's done wrong, I agree. But most of the time if the guitars are played right it really adds to it.
@@krys_chan I like the original orchestrations better.
@@googleuser2874 what do you mean? Are saying you like the orchestras without the guitars in them, or the orchestra's with guitars but done well? Because in most of the performances there's guitars.
@@krys_chan The original staged version didn't have as much electric guitar, or at least not as overpowering as they are in the newer versions. This video was supposed to be more "rock" so they added more electric guitar, but the original staged version didn't have it as much.
