    use footprint insoles and you won’t have any trouble dude.
    They are what I use and have tested a drop or two.
    Or use a skate with shocks for drops.
    Hope you heal up quick ✌🏼

    same with my fifth element, ground control 60mm alu setup... my heels already hurt by only a downledge. bought some "fp insole" insoles, and pow everything perfect now!

    I'd suggest maybe the Game changer footbeds (they're decently thick) or a 3-5mm yoga mat cut to shape the length of your foot under the liner. that way the "raise" is uniform for the entire foot

    Very true. I live Valos to death, but the lack of a heal pad kills me. I was dealing with knee and ankle pain constantly riding those skates. And with me downsizing in Valo/M12 there was absolutely no room to spare. I do put foot beds in my 908/909 boots. There’s these super flat, cheap, plush foot beds you can find at any drug store or 99 cent store that I throw underneath that black plastic footbed in the 908/909 boots. These will help with shock and will also help with sizing. Great video Brandon! Can’t wait to see what your new favorite skate is gonna be!

    I highly recommend looking into getting a set of footprint insole! They are amazing at absorbing the energy and got very well in most liners. I swear by them. Learned about them from skateboarders doing big gaps and got them for work, I'm a cook on my feet for 8+ hrs at a time, and ended up with 2 sets for myself and one for my girlfriend. Amazing product to combine with metal frames. I ride USD carbon free with ground control HD 60 and have been able to do decent gaps. I promise you will enjoy your skating again with the FP insoles.

    Even with plastic frames on raised heels, it hurts. I busted my heel up pretty bad in 2004/2005 doing a drop in Cults with GC Gen2 frames. The drop was big enough to cause the boot to flex and drive the frame receptor and bolt up and bruise my heel bone. Took weeks to recover. But changing foot beds to super feet or something like that can help. I used to go up 1 size in boots and add insoles under the liner for shocks. Worked wonders. Also, I think Kyle even alluded to not doing drops in these on the Jump Street podcast. Simply because the aluminum is too rigid. I do hope you heal soon and get back to blading. I know its warming up there and the weather is calling to shred. Best of luck.

    Aren't those Konjure's like 92/93a or something? Even with shock absorbers I find that hardness horrible so that probably isn't helping either. 88a is about right for me, anything softer than 90a ideally. Just infinitely more enjoyable and forgiving.

    I have a fifth element with the ground control hd aluminum frame and also intuition liners I don’t feel like the shock absorber raises your heel too much on an intuition even with the raised heel it’s not bad the only skates I can’t use the intuition shock absorbers on is my razors shifts I also skate the them 909 and a powerslide imperial 3x 125mm with the intuition and shock absorber and they don’t have too much forward lean where I feel like I’m gonna fall forward

    Having had three sets of M12’s i completely agree with the set up being the problem. Unfortunately just a bad combination. Metal frames with say a razors boot which have big shock absorbers would be fine i think.

    $12 gets you a 12"X24" sheet of HDPE on Amazon. It's not hard to make some homemade grind plates to help you slide. Might be worth it to give it a shot.

  • @RobertAkeemGreen
    @RobertAkeemGreen 3 роки тому

    So if I'm going to jump like a 7 stair you recommend not using the m12? I have the stock set up. I've put a sole inside the liner. Actually, I have a really good reebock sole because I play basketball and it feels very comfortable inside. But to clarify, are you saying to not jump big drops in the m12? If so what would you recommend?

    • @BrandonDrummond

    • @Andrew_DC5
      @Andrew_DC5 4 роки тому +1

      Having had three pairs i’d say no, they are a very tight shell and wernt made for having shocks in. The only shock you get is a tiny bit of gel in the footbed.

    Both Them skates and Sways have a raised heel, so no real difference in that respect.

    I love my solas, but I’m absolutely thinking about adding some plastic strips to the side of them, they totally stick up on topsides.

    I'm sorry, but if you purchased a set of Aluminum Frames thinking you could skate street, doing big jumps/ transfers and grinding ledges then you clearly didn't do your homework.
    Aluminum Frames are purely for park/ transition skating with coping etc.
    On a positive note, I hope this video serves as an educational one to people thinking of buying aluminum frames as your point is pretty, well, pointless.

    • @BrandonDrummond
      @BrandonDrummond  4 роки тому

      Hey. Older skates have a raised heel on the inside. So when you wear them they're like high heel shoes. Newer skates are completely flat on the inside and usually have a shock absorber to raise your heel. Hard to explain without showing you. Law has a great video about it. ua-cam.com/video/9zxuZquJocY/v-deo.html&ab_channel=BacktoBlading

    You say the metal frame gives you much better response than a plastic frame. Is that from a “flat skating perspective?” Curious about how big a difference that response would be if you compared metal and plastic frames with anti rocker set ups.

    first of all if youre gapping u need heel pads for the shock. wheel hardness and size is a big factor too. dont think you cant change your frames and wheel size and or overall set up to increase your chances of lacing. frames length also helps stability too

    Hey Brandon so I watched your video and was wondering if this could work on your sola frame for the top side plastic you wanted. You could make a video and call it "the ultimate sola frame mode" this stuff is only like 1/32" thick and it's made of some really slippery high density plastic and it's only like $9 us for a roll so when you wear it out you can just put another strip on there . Oh yeah it's got adhesive so it can stick to your frames and you just cut out the frame design and the holes for the axel's. I hope you can do something with this.

    I respect you very much. But I have never understood why you like this sh....metal-frames.😅I am very sorry but it has a reason why no streetskater bought the Roces Impala in the 90s. The reasons are exactly those that you explain in the video. The Roces Impala was just good for riding Halfpipe and Miniramp. For streetskating this was nothing. Endless wheelbite and sticking on concrete ledges and knee killers while doing gaps. These metal-frames are in my eyes just a Marketing-gag of the blade industry to earn more money by higher prices than plastic-frames. Nothing more. For riding flat I use the new Kizer Fluid V frame and it is the first flat frame which satisfied me a little bit (not too bulky as the Oysi frames, not too much wheel bite also on concrete ledges, leightweight for a flat frame). I use it now for riding parks. But for streetskating I use still the Kizer fluid 4 frame with big, softer (88a) outer wheels because I need not to be afraid of wheel-bite on ledges or sticking while doing groove-tricks on handrails. And to be honest: With this setup I feel also in maneuvrability and speed not a big difference to a 57mm flat setup. And if you stick the first time with a flat setup on a middle wheel while grinding a handrail and fall front-headed downstairs then you have enough for a while from flat setups. Trust me.😉PS: I hope that you will recover soon!
