      Thanks for the comment! And thanks for the compliment on my yard! (or garden as we say in the UK) It looks nice until the kids tear it up :) UK garages are smaller than the USA i imagine, we don't have huge trucks like you guys! ..... UK garage sounds funny, as it's a genre of music haha!

    Awesome, I have the Kamado Joe Jr, cause it's only me and the missus, but I love my kamado joe, although I'm really shit at briskets as I find it hard to time the small type briskets we normally get in UK, so with a that in mind please do an English Brisket with all the relevant Prep, Weigh, times. I will now subscribe, because most Joe and Egg video are from America and although I love them it's sometimes difficult as the steaks and briskets they do are Huge, and would cost about £42 from London Market(Smithfield, I think)

      Thanks for the comment Emmet, glad you enjoyed the video! I will make sure i do a brisket video soon, although i have never done one yet, so will be a learning curve for me too! There is a guy on facebook called Smokin Dans who has loads of good recipies on his KJ, hes based in the uk too so might be a good shout for tips on briskets. I've linked his page below... Keep on Grilling!

    Hi Tom, thanks for the well detailed video. Lovely house and garden. I’m looking at buying my very first Kamado Joe but can’t get to see them in person due to my location as well as lockdown. I’m looking for some advice, what size would you recommend for a family of 4 for most of the times but on the rare occasion it could be up to 8 when family are eventually allowed to visit?. Would you go for the standard size Classic 3 with the expander rack or the Big Joe 3.. Any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

    • @TomVoyageuk
      @TomVoyageuk  3 роки тому

      Hi, Thanks very much for watching my videos! and thanks for the nice compliment about the garden!
      As for a Kamado, there is a few things i would consider - Kamados are great because they are so versatile and very fuel efficient for long cooks! I have the classic size, and its fine for us (family of 4, ocassinal 6-8 guests) but thats considering i also have a large weber gas grill, which for a party ill go the burgers/sausage on etc. I tend to use the kamado for large cuts of meat over a long time, but on the classic, you can easily fit a pork shoulder that will comfortably feed 10/12 people!
      That said, i have heard of a lot of people who say they're very happy they decided to get the larger Big Joe. My advice would be if you have other grills, that you can cook extra for parties etc, you'll be fine with the classic, if the KJ will be your only outdoor cooker, go for the big joe, lets face it... bigger is better! besides you can always split the coal box into two if you wanted to use a big joe for smaller cooks. I hope this helps! Tom
      PS -I bought my joe from a company called Wharfe Valley Stoves, if you're anywhere near Weatherby. They usually have both classic and big joe on display, give them a call and see when they're open or what they can arrange? www.wharfevalleystoves.co.uk

      Hi Tom, thanks for taking the time and effort to reply to my post, it’s appreciated. I would only be looking to have one “family” bbq so it sounds like the Big Joe. I would hate to spend that kind of money and struggle for space. I would rather too much space than too little, especially if it’s going to be my only bbq for many years to come. I’m in Scotland so unfortunately not near Wetherby but will give them a call to discuss options with a view to ordering from them. Thanks again for your help.

    • @TomVoyageuk
      @TomVoyageuk  3 роки тому

      Ah Scotland, beautiful part of the world.... should have guessed by the name Tartan Man! I think the big joe would be a great choice if you can go the extra cost, and it’s going to be your only cooker. If you haven’t already, check out some of the KJ pages on Facebook, I’m sure there will be someone local to you that would be able to see a big joe for size! (After lock down of course 😷)

    Hey there. We have just got our new ooni pizza oven. We have been also bee looking at the Kamado Joe. Where did you get it from? Also we are installing an outdoor gazebo kitchen. What have you used for the roof on yours.

    • @TomVoyageuk
      @TomVoyageuk  4 роки тому

      Hi David, thanks for commenting... Ooni's are awesome by the way!
      I bought mine from a dealer in the UK called Wharfe valley stoves - www.wharfevalleystoves.co.uk, they did me a good deal and delivered it quickly too!
      The roof on my shelter is made from wooden slats and roofing tiles (the terracotta ones used on houses). I bought these from the builders who did our house so it matched and gave a Mediterranean feel. One thing i would say is the tiles are very heavy, so you'll need a decent strength apex.
      I've just done a video on my Ooni Koda if you want to check that out! - ua-cam.com/video/QsHsPm_S68k/v-deo.html

    Nice vid. I’m in the fence on buying this exact Kamado. I saw a video, however, of a few people complaining of the rear part of the gasket (on the hinge area) stating it rubbed against the upper grate when the slow roller configuration was on. Have you had any issues???

    • @TomVoyageuk
      @TomVoyageuk  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Manny,
      Personally no i haven't but i can see what you mean as it can be a bit tight when using the slo roller, as it makes the grates higher. I would highly recommend this Kamado though, its so versatile being able to smoke, grill bake and sear on!

    I'm seriously looking at one these instead of a Big Green Egg. I am used to a gas BBQ so would be interested in your opinion 1 year on from buying it. What do you think Tom?

    • @TomVoyageuk
      @TomVoyageuk  3 роки тому

      Thanks for the question Tony, One year on i still love mine, although with the addition of an Ooni Karu, don't use it quite as much as i used too. I think these are great if you love the method of cooking on charcoal, but want something stable and reliable that's easy to use, once you know how.
      At the minute, mine has had to have a gasket replacement, which i would have expected to last a bit longer that 1 year, but the customer service was good, and sent me some stuff to repair it.
      The thing with Kamados' is they're so versatile. You can bake, roast, grill and slow cook all on one unit, however if we have a lot of people round for the usual burgers and sausage, ill still fire up the Gas grill for an easy life :)

    Hi, thanks for the video! Can I ask you a favour please as I’m not getting any response from the Kamado Joe team: can you tell me the width of it (excluding shelves)? The width of my gate in the alleyway to the back garden is a little tight at 79cm, would like to know if this beauty would fit. Also, how does the smoked food taste with the slo roller? Torn between getting this, or the Classic 2 + a separate standalone smoker.

    • @MrSTYLETHEBAND

      Hi Thanks for the comment, glad you enjoyed my video. I found a spec sheet here showing the overall dimensions ..... images.app.goo.gl/F33Dq81zVmCvaYPr8

    • @TomVoyageuk
      @TomVoyageuk  4 роки тому

      But if that link doesn’t work, it’s says the ceramic is 22” wide, the aluminium shelves can be taken off, but with the mounts it would only be another inch on either side, so about 24 inches overall.

    • @TomVoyageuk
      @TomVoyageuk  4 роки тому

      As for the slow roller, I honestly can’t say compared to the classic two as I’ve never owned one. It does however help to keep the temp consistent in the dome, and prevent areas of the meat from being over cooked whilst some areas are still not cooked.
