"A children's story that can only be enjoyed by children is not a good story in the slightest." -C. S. Lewis
But aren’t there adults who like the movie? Don’t misunderstand me, I don’t like Frozen much, but using that quote here is pretty self-defeating when there are adults who’d call this a good story.
stwbmc98
Honestly that's the saddest thing I've ever hear to be honest...
There is also a Walt Disney quote that goes along the lines of: "I do not make films only for children, I make then for the child in all of us."

@Dannyboy O so you dont read or listen to anything made or said before the eighties?

the "all animals act like dogs" thing bothered the fuck out of me too. As an animal lover, I know that all animals have their different personalities and traits that you could definitely work out in movies. But no, instead of doing research on the animals behaviour, they say "Fuck it, all animals act like dogs, right?"
+Pinkie CupcakePie Wow. That's actually a really interesting point I've never thought of.
That would be pretty cool if someone did that.
+Siena H. That happens because most people know how dogs behave. I'm sure elks or whatever the hell that thing is can show affection, but I don't really know how, I only know the sound they make when I hit them with my car.
DanielAvelan True, but what I am saying is that if they are dedicated enough and not a lot of lazy assholes waiting to cash in on their pay, they would at least do some research. They don'g even have to spend time with the animal. All they need to do is a quick search up. Also, about the car hitting thing, I really hope you don't mean to. Even if it is in the way, there are better ways to deal with it that doesn't involve hitting it. Unless it actually runs in last second when there is no way to gain control, but other than that, it is unnaceptable to kill the.poor thing. But I lost track of what I was saying... Anyways, either go all out if you are going to characterize an animal, or just don't do it at all. Because that "all animals must a t like dogs"bullshit is just pure laziness at its finest.
***** Exactly! By doing this "all animals are dogs" bullshit they are just selling themselves short. From storytelling perspective, it is much better and delves deeper into both the animal characters, and the human characters. Disney ha characterized animals very well over the years, using the animals traits to build character and to enhance the story. Rabbits, usually quick and witty, foxes usually sly and cunning, owls characterized as wise, wolves clever and tricky, and I'm sure you can think up more just from classic fairytales, fables, and nursery rhymes. Disney in there classic era, did this very well with movies that were centered around animals, such as Aristocats, Robin Hood, Lady and the Tramp, Three Little Pigs, and others, and they have been doing it for years. They did Bambi, for gods sake, a movie about a FREAKING DEER... yet somehow they stick to the dog bullshit for Sven, a reindeer... (psssttt... the keyword is DEER) anyways, what I am basically saying is that you comment hit right on what I was trying to say in the first place.
All animais but cats wich are portraided as dipshits for some reason.
I think my biggest issue was the hype. It was a decent movie in itself but the amount of 'greatest movie ever' drove me mad. "Best Snow Physics!" Rise of the Guardians did a much better job AND had better animation. "First story that wasn't just romance!" Lilo and Stitch was about sisters and family. "First movie to deal with depression!!!1!!" Beauty and the beast! There was so much hype for this movie that really went undeserved.
So true. It was way to overhyped. There have been WAY better movies created by Disney.
Renée Peters Yeah, that do a lot of what it does so much better.
AND THE SONG! It was everywhere at the time. Let it go was literally about running away from your problems..

I'm surprised that you didn't talk about how hastily thrown together the parents' death scene was.
I mean Jesus, talk about rushed. One scene they're alive, then one fade later and they're unceremoniously axed off. I didn't even know what the fuck was happening the first time I watched this movie, I had to rewind just to make sure that's really what happened.
+Victor Viridian That was stupid. It was as if Disney themselves just got SO used to the dead parent trope. They don't even put the effort into that cliche anymore.
+Victor Viridian The reason it's rushed over is because they don't want the kids (and parents) to get too sad about it. It's just a thing that happens so that the plot can get going. If they made it sad then it overshadows everything that happens immediately afterwards and distracts from what we're supposed to be watching.
Also, like a minute later they have a really happy song so they can't disrupt the tone.
+misterimo1990 Well if they didn't want any viewers to get sad over it, then what the fuck was the point of adding the scene in the first place?
Ensla It's part of the plot. We understand that it's a sad thing for the characters but it's not a sad thing for us.
***** They just could've subtly implied they were dead, fuck, even just blatantly saying it out wouldve made more sense.
To be fair, Elsa not experimenting with her magic is the fault of her parents. Hell, most if not all of the conflict was caused by bad parenting. They were told fear was Elsa's enemy, and then taught her to fear her power anyway.
Professor Quack Technically, they weren’t telling her to fear her power, that’s just what her young brain interpreted THEIR fear as. They were trying to get her powers under control, because they (justifiably, judging by the movie’s future events) feared the residents’ reaction to discovering the heir’s ice powers because of the Frozen Heart prophecy. They handled that fear poorly, yes, but they didn’t teach her to fear her powers, she just did that on her own because she thought they feared her powers.
@@HellHazAtTheZoo I blame the stupid rock trolls. She was fine controlling her powers before, but they have to come in like "fear is your worst enemy" and scare her
RoseMasquerade I mean, I blame them too. Lol
@@gaytrise Glad I'm not the only one who noticed that too.
Her parents should've trained her to use them. But I guess in their times its considered evil to have powers...
I really felt the 'act of true love' should have been Oolaf dying beside Anna and the fireplace, because he didn't want her to die alone. THAT would have been more dramatic, emotional, and would have felt like it'd been led up to.
I don't feel it invalidates the other characters, at all. Might have given Anna the strength to stand on her own, too.
I agree especially because they knew the snow would melt him, but didn't tell him in because they didn't want to ruin it for him.
Look, dude. You keep forgetting that this is a kids movie and Olaf dying would be Bambi 2.0 which would make Disney lose a lot of sales since mothers would complain about their children suffering a severe case of PTSD when their favorite snowman died. Shit, it might make them have a snowman phobia.
*****
Just because it's a 'kid's movie' doesn't mean the story can't be dynamic and interesting. Kids can handle a _lot_ more than we give them credit for. They're just adults with fewer experience points :p
And I don't think any kids would suffer PTSD if Olaf died. That'd be like if Jar Jar Binks had been killed. It might have been a shock, yes, but the character isn't nearly loved enough for it to cause distress in most kids. I actually know one little girl, my friend's daughter, who very openly (and loudly. And in public >.
TalonSky Personally, I'd like that part of the story better, but I made the sarcastic comment to parody the 21st century parents that want to protect their children from everything.
The trolls in Frozen really bothered me. They felt so out of place, and were so clearly just a plot device to whip out when it was convenient to the story. Overall, the film is incredibly simple, with poorly integrated elements thrown in to make it appear different. Even the visuals were a bit on the bland side.
I guess those elements fooled several people into thinking it was different. I mean, my father mentioned the things that it has in store, like a redemption story, but a lot of other films did them better (Paddington 2, for example, did the redemption story bit a lot better than this movie did, because in that film, it was smooth and fluid and believable, while here it's just thrown in when the plot calls for it).
You think as I do... when I first watched it, the trolls stuck out painfully as not fitting into the narrative at all. And their stupid song only intensified that sensation. Olaf was second place in the 'just there for comic relief and toy sales' department.
Alondro77 Yeah, I'm not very fond of Olaf either. Not only is he rather annoying, I agree that he was put in just to make the kids happy. Yet for some weird reason he's become so VERY popular. OK...why? All he does is waddle around, sing a dumb song, and make pointless jokes that no one in the film even responds to! Are you KIDDING me? Are you telling me that other comic relief characters like Pleakley from Lilo and Stitch, Mushu from Mulan, Timon and Pumbaa from The Lion King, and Flounder from The Little Mermaid, who all serve a purpose of some kind in their films, get shoved aside like garbage, and yet this guy just walks around and makes dumb jokes and acts annoying and he gets all the attention? Seriously?!
Now, some people might go all "You're dumb, Tesia; Olaf is SUPPOSED to be annoying"; yes, I know. However, he's not supposed to annoy the audience. He 's supposed to annoy the other characters so we can laugh at their reactions to him doing so. (Examples of characters that do this right: Pinky, Pinkie Pie, Bullwinkle, Scuttle, Dudley Puppy, Carl Wheezer, even my character Shivers, who's also a snowman, by the way.) Sadly, he doesn't, which makes me wonder what people see in him. (Besides Josh Gad, whom I do like, by the way.)
Sorry I got carried away; I just don't get the hype for something like this, is all.
Tesia Blake Olaf is cute

One of the things that bothers me most about this film is the fact that Kristoph kept building up the rock trolls to be "love experts" But then when they meet them, despite knowing virtually nothing about Anna, they assume she's Kristoph's girlfriend. Okay, fine: it's a misunderstanding. But THEN Kristoph corrects them by saying she's engaged to someone else. They immediately start saying things like an engagement being "a minor thing" and "we gotta get the fiance out of the way" in an effort to force Anna and Kristoph together. So, basically they're willing to break up a couple they know nothing about in the name of "true love" and shove another one together based on the fact Anna has functioning facial features and that alone makes her "just perfect for our Kristoph" This movie TELLS me they're "love experts" but it definitely doesn't SHOW me that.
And a big part was not being so sure of love after a day, while that's exactly what happened with Christoph
Think I read a theory once that Hans wasn't actually evil and he did in fact love Anna. But the Rock Trolls wanted Anna to be with Kristoph so they 'dealt' with it by altering his mind and making him be overcome by greed.
Personally, gonna accept that headcanon because of that one smile from Hans. You know the one.
I feel like this is another theme of the movie. As we see, Frozen likes to poke fun at the "prince charming love at first sight" cliche. I feel like this song is just enforcing the theme about how love at first sight doesn't exist. Plus, it is a cliche in previous Disney movies to have characters attempt to help characters get together. For example, the mice from Cinderella.
I thought that was stupid that they thought she was But She did fell in love with him in the end. which they should've been there at some point.
+JatoWhitz Wow, I kinda really like that theory.. It makes me sad, though...

Damn
Yeah, we know. It's called a chord progression. It's a sequence of notes that, combined together, sound pleasant to the ear.
I always thought that the reason Elsa had powers was because the king had an affair with an ice witch or something.
+TheLoneLoony Lol it would make more sense if it was the queen who had an affair, seeing as Anna and Elsa look like the queen and also it would be easier to hide Elsa's true father from the king rather than the other way around. Imagine the king just showing up with an ice baby.
"Honey what's that."
"It's our child, of course."
"But how...there...I didn't have...babby...ok."
+TheLoneLoony Plot twist: the queen believes in Jack Frost and they got a little too close one night
+TheLoneLoony ...wait...why would it be the king who had the affair?
April Jones Simple. Nine months later, the ice witch dumps the baby on the king, says "This is yours now.", and leaves.
+TheLoneLoony Elsa is the sister of Rapunzel so the magic runs in the Family. But the Partents from Rapunzel were scared that their second child would also be kidnapped so they gave Elsa away to their cousins... Parents of Anna.
that's for Disney but the original Story Frozen was inspired by (The Snow Queen) it's different and as far as I remember (I read the story when I was a little child) she is the snow queen because she was bullied or the devil made her that way, I don't actually remember but in the end someone is saved through tears "filled with love". so Disney kinda mixed things and made the ice queen the main character and not the little boy who was a slave to the ice queen. so the family tree doesn't ad up in their story
the shower part I started laughing so hard is started to cough so hard that I fell on the the floor so hard that I started to cry so hard that I then died.

Artsy Puppy same tbh
This is the only time I feel like you weren't harsh enough toward a movie. Why didn't you call out the fact that Elsa has absolutely no character whatsoever outside of her song?
Agreed. My biggest problem, which ties into Elsa's lack of character, is that they spend so much time on Hans and Anna's relationship that I don't even understand Anna and Elsa's that well. They are sisters- used to have fun, now they don't. Anna is upset that Elsa didn't approve of the relationship, Elsa is upset bc Anna is being a dumbass. As far as their adult relationship goes we only see them fight so I give zero fucks about their sisterhood and then they try to push it on you at the end with "sisterhood is power" when we've only seen them despise each other.
The Moodic x
I feel like they don't even have an adult relationship. Considering Elsa has been locking herself away as to not reveal her powers, that seems like it would kind of kill it.
BloodoftheLotus13 That's exactly why I can't stand this movie. All the interactions between the two for years after Anna's memories were changed were Anna knocking on a door and getting nothing from Elsa emotionally. She didn't even come out for their parents' funeral, leaving Anna to deal with that alone.
At some point, anger and hurt should have overcome what little love they had from their childhood in my opinion.
I feel like pretty much all of the newer Disney princess have the same motive.
Rapunzel: I want to get out of the tower and see the world!
Ana: I want to get out of the Castle and see the world!
Elsa: LET IT GOOO
Moana: I don't wanna be stuck on this island I wanna get out and see the wooooorld

Well played sir- I too had some very similar feelings of about "Let it go" - you were able to verbalize it awesomely!
I think the shitty part is that Elsa's parents were specifically told by the trolls that Elsa needs to learn to control her powers and embrace them. AND YEEEET... they tell her to hide her powers and to conceal them. They make her feel like she's a monster and it's very obvious that she gets anxiety as she grows older and yet they keep telling her that she has to hide it. it's just uuughhhh
It's just supposed to be a cute, little fantasy kids movie.
So? It still has to make sense of itself, even if it doesn't want to be taken seriously. I mean, so many other Disney movies are for children, and they made sense of themselves (The Little Mermaid, Mulan, The Great Mouse Detective, Snow White, Pinocchio, and so many others I could mention). So I'm sorry, your argument doesn't cut it.
The Duchess 1
Plus you're argument is just tell me that "kids are pretty stupid and don't understand the slightest"
SparklyGhost704 That's kinda what I feel the film is saying: "Let's just make a fun movie for kids because kids are STUPID; they'll watch ANYTHING!" Granted, I know that's not what the filmmakers were thinking, but still.
You're not wrong....but I like how the parents actually made the wrong decision which caused Elsa's anxiety...which makes her such an interesting character that we hadn't seen in the Disney canon so far. It's realistic and it's relatable; parents can be the root of their childrens' problems, even though they meant well AND lots of people, young and older suffer from anxiety disorders today so they latched onto Elsa immediately.

there's a lot of unexplained things in this movie. why does Elsa have powers but Anna doesn't? why do the rock troll things exist? like this movie is really overrated
+Bunnyboo3419
The trolls were based off the demon things from the original fairy tail of 'The Snow Queen'.
And if say Anna or the parents would've also had powers then there wouldn't have been much of a conflict in the movie.
+Bunnyboo3419 Like the above comment said, this movie is based off of "Snow Queen", a Scandinavian folk tale. Elsa is a loose representation of the Snow Queen, whereas the trolls are the devils spoken of in the tale. Like all fairy tales, Disney was fascinated by Hans' work (btw, Hans is the author of 'Snow Queen' and the douche bag prince is named after him), and so decided to make a film based on it. However, for it to be appealing, yet appropriate, the tale was a bit dumb-downed and revised.
People seriously need to read the source materials for these movies. Using logic to explain what happens in a Disney movie is never a good idea, typically. Look at "Alice in Wonderland". People who watched the movie first, but never read the book probably think that Wonderland is the happiest and goofiest place on Earth, lol.

Agreed; Disney seems to have forgotten about other animal sidekicks of theirs who didn't act like dogs and yet were cute and compelling (like Khan from Mulan and Abu from Aladdin).

if we didn't already have Gaston like twenty years earlier

This review was pretty spot on. I would give Frozen somewhere between a 7/10 and 8/10. I am nowhere near as good at spotting stuff like a ship mysteriously being underwater, but I am picky. I enjoyed the movie. Just what kids movie would be at least an ideal 10/10? The Lion King? Nothing else seems to come to mind.
If Lion King was an original story, and not a washed up version of Hamlet, mixed with Moses and style of Kimba The White Lion, maybe we could give it a good mark. But as it was? I don't think Lion King would get a higher mark than Frozen did. A 10/10 animated movie... The Illusionist? Or something from Ghibli?
Pan Rysownik Rysuje Never even heard of those movies. There's got to be one out there though.
Pan Rysownik Rysuje If we're talking about 10/10 disney movies, I'd definitely count Lion King out...even though I love it. Probably Mulan and Beauty/Beast would fit in there, though...and I know a lot of people think that Emperor's New Groove was part of the dark ages but that's pretty great too.
Squirt K You're putting 10/10 mark on movies too easily. Watch more animated stuff, get a taste and expand your horizons - I don't think I know more than maybe three movies that I'd MAYBE give a 10/10. And not one of them is a Pixar or Disney one. My favourite Disney movie? Wreck-It Ralph.
Pan Rysownik Rysuje Yeah, I guess I was putting 10/10 on a little too thick there. Let's say 8 or 9/10 for those, alright? Maybe 9.5. Although, I was only talking about Disney, and recommending movies from that specific franchise.
Trust me, my horizons are plenty expanded when it comes to animation, and I have way too many opinions on animation (especially when it comes to animation with an audience of 18+, but that's another story).
I enjoyed Wreck-it-Ralph so much, but I'm still giving it some time to see if it holds. It's still a relatively new movie but I'm sure it's going to hold.

Caused me to laugh like the Joker
My absolute biggest problem with Frozen is how they revealed Hans as the bad guy. Because for the entire film before that "twist", he totally behaved like a completely nice guy character and the film did not once ever drop a single clue telling us that he even could be a bad guy. Of course, he acted unnaturally nice and peppy, so the audience could normally think that something was up, but when another character who actually IS a nice person does the same things, it doesn't come across as a deliberate exaggeration, so much as the filmmakers' incompetent attempt to make enthusiastic and kind individuals.
Honestly, when I saw the film, it felt like Hans was never supposed to have been a villain, but they had to change the ending in order to put him in as one.
Sambou Jaiteh true.
Exactly. Why the fuck does he act the same way when there's no one around and he doesn't need to keep an appearance. That's when you should notice he's not what he pretends to be. He basically went from lazily written nice guy to cliched villain in a second.
that's actually correct Elsa was straight up the villain until the song let it go was written, then somebody decided that they couldent let a bad sing such a "good" song and so they had to shoe horn hans into the villain role.
Yeah, nowhere near as well-made as people make it out to be. But what my blood boils at more than that is the fact that people are giving it all the attention, for some reason. Sure, let's not give the attention and praise to films like Zootopia, Kung Fu Panda 1 and 2, Wreck-It Ralph, Big Hero 6, or Paddington 1 and 2 that actually deserve it as they have well-told stories, compelling characters with great development, funny humor, creativity, cleverness, and entertainment value, let's give it to Frozen! Great idea there! *sarcasm*
6:20 am I the only one who thought Anna and Hans had good chemistry, and him being a bad guy in the end felt like an asspull to his character rather than a logical development?
Layla Hellsing yes, yes you are.
Layla Hellsing no, no you're not
I agree 100%.
Layla Hellsing Nope~
Yeah, the plot twist of him being the bad guy is completely forced. That's why I hate the twist so much.
So I saw this movie unwillingly with six or seven choir geeks in theaters, and them being there just for the music was enough to kill me. Me, being the darkest one of the bunch, was the only person in the entire theatre that laughed when Anna got shot in the face. I got so many looks and I'm proud of it. Awesome stuff, keep it up.
Although the movie is shit, this comment cut me with a edge
The edge, it slices, it cuts deep!
3edgy5me
+Nuberax oh you are so edgy. you think you're cool don't you?!
You slit my wrists with that edge
Oh my god that fucking shower scene. XD
I know right
funny and creepy at the same time
+Mr. Mystery Felt raped after that scene not gonna lie lol.
+TheSonnyworld Wow. Everyone must be new.
+Adam Palmer you're not straight, are you.
“No one washing dishes at home just start talking to themselves.”
They don’t?
Well...
Me neither...
...
"It's a kids' movie." I've heard that excuse so many times, and it disgusts me. Walt Disney's vision was to make family-oriented movies, as in films that appeal to both children and adults. What made some of the studio's best films so great is how balanced they were in that regard. It's why film's like "Home on the Range" and "Aristocats" are terrible because they focus only on kids (the former was clearly aimed at preschoolers). It's why Confused Matthew's review of "The Incredibles" is one of the stupidest videos I've ever watched: he fails to understand this.
+Jackson Rushing I HATE that excuse too, especially here in 2018! But the worst part is responding to it; It's just so tiring!
Exactly
Who did a review of the incredibles?
When I was 6, I watched "Watership Down". I was more bothered by what the heck the ghost rabbit thing was supposed to be than all the bunnies getting torn to pieces and slaughtered. Because, you know, they were just cartoons. Not real bunnies. Kids today are pansies, can't even take a villain dying without needing therapy!
Alondro77
Pretty much everyone else who saw that movie as a child was totally fucked up by it. You’re the exception.
if you wanna skip to the important content of this video go to 3:50
😭😭😂😂😂😂😂
You're horrible for this 😂
Meh, another 'love solves everything' movie... Bleughh
I know, it's bullshit, right? And this has been milked so much I hate it.
Now, I think, be creative! Maybe love only solves one part of the problem, but the other requires the intervention of my friend, Mr. Fist, or a sacrifice, or I dunno.
maxx2245_2012 it's a kids movie
smmc16 You can't use that as an excuse really; it's just like saying that the 'guns solves everything' cliche is okay because it's an action movie.
I'm not being one of those hipster fucks that's like 'hmpf I don't like movies with explosions in them' but it's been done to death.
Good action movies such as the Bourne trilogy don't need the Michael Bay touch, just like kids movies shouldn't need the 'love solves everything' touch.
Also, the audience of Frozen was by no means all children, most of the people yapping about it were adults.
Spy, I praise you. Comment of the year.
You can go in my base anytime :)
I also laughed when elsa knocked anna out.
Best shower scene I've ever seen.
He should make a horror movie where that is the only scary screen, the cast opens a door and that scene is playing
That part with Let it Go and Firework playing at the same time was actually pretty cool
"I envy anyone who can watch something like that and not hear in their head ' WHY'."
Oh thank fuck I'm not alone.
why would Elsa run away if she was the queen anyway ?
+Basler Jones Did you not know about French History, the ones with the royal families?
+Basler Jones "Fear would take over".
She got scared she would be branded a freak and ran away.
That's...pretty much it. It's like Hunchback, but she ran away from the people, while Quazi ran TO the people
.....because an angry mob of witch hunters was after her?
To claim the French throne.
***** Yeah but she didn't want to kill anyone.
"Darling it's better, down where it's wetter,"
Hmmm... I think I remember my doctor saying that to me during my prostate exam
3:50
I think we should beam this part of your video into outer space as our message of peace to other intelligent life
No
YES
That’ll get us “Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy’d”.
The hype around this movie blow my expectations FAR BEYOND A COMPREHENSIBLE PROPORTION. The movie was so mediocre that I stopped watching it half way through. I thought I was going to witness some kind of cinema great, but was DEEPLY disappointed. Not to mention I found most songs cringey as fuck. Maybe I no longer appreciate animated kids movies, but there is absolutely NOTHING special about this movie.
I honestly don't think it's you. People these days are affecting the way movies are done, especially for kids. Because all they say "but this is a kid's movie! it can be as fucking stupid as it wants because *only* children see it!"
Says the fans who saw it.... the full grown adult fans in fact.
The ones who nominated this crappy movie for a goddamn emmy.
Well, that's your opinion. I STRONGLY disagree.
Evan Sampson I looked at your profile. First thing I read was "I don't care what you think". Guess what I'm going to say next?
ImGamingGalore According to my profile, I don't care.
It means I don't care if you think negatively.
Evan Sampson It also means I don't give a fuck about your opinion either.
3:50 and 4:30 I love these are, this is an excellent example of why I love your content.
The Y2K crisis was an incredibly legitimate crisis because it was the COMPUTERS that had to be told why the number doesn't have any more significance than any other number in existence. Ironically it was literally computer programmers remembering to tell the someone that during the Y2K "craze".
He has a death stare when he is in the shower. Sebastian jut makes it more scary.
D.E.W.B Tube Sebastian makes everything terrifying. I DON'T EVEN BELIEVE THAT HE'S A CRAB.
3:50
Holy shit dude... I never thought I could be so disturbed while hearing that song, while also laughing my ass off. xD
#scarred4life
*edit*
Oh and at 7:55...I don't know jack about music theory, but even I could tell that song is LAZY AS SHIT. I think the entire soundtrack was honestly. Not even catchy like some of their old films.
It is Lazy Let it go Sucks.
First off, the rest of the soundtrack (minus maybe the Olaf song) wasn't lazy. Most of it was quite cleverly written and worked better for the story than any other soundtrack in a Disney movie in the last 30 years, maybe ever. And even though the chord progression in Frozen is probably the most used chord progression ever and the melody isn't super original, the arrangement and instrumentation was enough to make the song stand out in my opinion.
Also, even though you might not think the soundtrack is catchy, millions of people disagree with you.
Lisa Zoria as somebody who does know music theory, the music is super simple, kinda like pop music (imo lazy). However, that's why it's catchy. 90% of famous songs are simple and catchy. As a musician, I prefer stuff that makes me think. Most people don't like to think.
3:50 My lungs are collapsing I'm laughing so hard please stop.
ikr
+Zex Eios Got terrifying LOL. I looked away for a moment and came back to this face: 4:31 and was like "OHH SHIT!"
+Zex Eios Yee
+Zex Eios same
+Zex Eios Swiggty Swooty ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I died at the shower part. Haven't had a good real laugh in a very long time. Thank you for the beautiful reaction images.
4:28.I'll have to deal with years of nightmares.
In addition to saying that "good for a kids' movie" doesn't equal "good movie," I would go further and say that "good for a kids' movie" doesn't equal "good kids' movie." Children are a lot smarter than we often give them credit for, and while of course they're going to like bright colors and catchy songs, I think it's important to have children watch movies that will make them think or that are at least somewhat creative in how they use those things that children usually like to see. My parents tried to avoid letting me and my siblings watch movies that were just "good for kids' movies" and while of course they're human and have as much bias as anyone else, I think I and my siblings benefited from their selectivity.
Anyway, I thought this was a very well-thought-out review and while I haven't seen the movie, I've seen and read other reviews and this doesn't seem to be misrepresenting the film -- unless *everyone's* misrepresenting it, in which case, what can ya do? Well, I suppose I could watch it, but... meh....
agreed
+Alaric Holmes That's why I really like Where the Wild Things Are
Kevin O'Connell
Yes! That's a great movie!
I love movies that play into your heart strings:(even as a kid)an American tale, heck even Disney has some pretty decent sad films like the fox & the hound, lion king, lady & the tramp made me really sad as a kid especially the scene where the puppies are crying in the hound.
You can also say it was a well-thawed-out review.
*ba dum tssss*
Not only that, being a film for children doesn't exempt it from trying to be a good film. There's not many, but there are genuinely good films and TV series that are intended for children that are also great experiences to watch for people that are not children. A film or TV series need to be a good product first, regardless of what the intended audience is.
Precisely! That's one of the reasons I get irritated when my mom tries to tell me it's popular because "little girls like it"! That may be true, but it's an incredibly stupid reason!
Lol at the Let It Go and Firework mash-up.
I remember thinking the same as you when I first heard that song (Let It Go). I don't hate it, but when people obsess over it I'm like "really...?" It's really just another catchy pop song.
4 Reasons why I hate Frozen
Reason 1: They use the same goddamn animation from every Disney movies like Tangled, Wreck-It-Ralph etc.
Reason 2: Elsa wait.. not even just her. Her whole family makes the dumbest choices. Like her dad, wouldn't her dad just accept Elsa instead consult to the trolls and erase Anna's memory and also instead of Elsa saying to people to have accept her. She is just like "I'm going to run away, make my own storm and fuck things up." Before that event her dad lock her up in a room and stay there with gloves, now they didn't realize that her gloves she used was doing a great job for keeping Elsa's powers.
Reason 3: They copy the same characteristic from Rise of the Guardians. A teenager, blue eyes, white hair, Ice Powers. And Disney is like "Oh we will copy from what the Dreamworks has done and make it better!" A teenager, blue eyes, white hair, Ice Powers. They just copy Jack Frost!!
And now the 1st reason why everybody is hating this movie.
Reason 4: Is they started singing before the start of the movie. Like "Let It Go" I think everybody on the whole world is singing that crappy song. You know he/she is a bitch, when they fucking listen to "Let It Go" My Girlfriend plays that song on repeat EVERYDAY!!
When I said to stop singing that song, she replied with "Let It Go, Let It Go" and then I am done for days. The good thing about this song is it get to stuck in your head, and that's not even a good thing, It's a good thing for Disney but not for you. BUT even the good part of this movie still fucking sang a dumbass song about summer. They just use those song for character development but not for the FUCKING STORY.
Frozen, tangled and brave are essentially the same movie.
K
jigs roxas. It's a kids movie.
It's like adults watching MLP, and criticising the show, which is stupid, because it's age group is looked on upon toddlers and infants. If your girlfriend is singing 'let it go', all the time, then dump her ass. Also, why are you so miserable, for a song that's only to be made for little kids? It has great concept, but then you say that people who listen to it/ sing it are 'fucking bitches'? So does that include little children to be little bitches too? I agree everything else you wrote on that comment of yours, but reason 4 is wrong.
Snoop Doge Just chiming in to point out that the entire last minute or so of the video is devoted to why "it's a kid's movie" is a bad argument. Also just above another commenter criticized the video for actually using any time to point that out because "you're preaching to the choir on this point and I think 100% of your audience would never use 'it's a kids movie' as an argument when they disagree."
And yet, here we are...
Snoop Doge
But adults watch these things and praise them. If you're an adult, not a child, watching something and trying to give an unbiased opinion, shouldn't you be honest about how much you enjoyed it? There's a big difference between "a good movie" and "a good kid's movie", and this video is in response to people calling Frozen the former.
4:30 = Nightmare Fuel
Blueluzu no 4:33
Well, a 6 out of 10 is a perfect score for 'Frozen' - just a little above average.
On the other hand - it'd be great to see you review a few more "not-popcorn" animated movies, something like The Illusionist or Triplets From Belleville. Heck, even a Miayazaki or two would be good.
Pixar has done a few films for kids that also are just good flicks. I'm thinking wall-e [ps do a review on this]
TheStateOfEarth
Wall-E and Up have the same problem - a great, Oscar-worthy start and a terribly goofy second half. Yes, I do find talking dogs in planes kinda funny and yes, I do find an entire ship of fat people kinda... new? But it's hard to call these movies good. But since they have so much strong parts and everything else in these movies reflects them - yeah, they'd be perfect for a review.
Or he could try talking about The Incredibles, but it's probably be his only fully positive review. ;)
Pan Rysownik Rysuje Enjoyable movies can [and often do] have parts that could be better, and thats the take away point I get from 'you movie sucks.' After posting my comment above I watched his review on Toy Story 3, though he rightly points out some logical problems and some lazy plot points, I enjoyed it for the emotional aspects [nostalgia, growing up, changing preferences, etc..]
On one hand I've taught logic in college & I have a degree in Philosophy, so I can spot logical inconsistency from a contentment away.... however I also value how a movie emotionally connects for / to me. I think it would be nice if things were more consistent, but people can be, and are inconsistent. We humans are not always logical and this happens in script writing. This is not an excuse or a defense, rather its an explanation.
I personally really like Wall-e [I'm a sucker for sci-fi and a fun love story], I also enjoyed much of the iconography [hal 9000, BuyInLarge = wallmart, mean in a cup = starbucks, etc]. The tipping ship does not make a ton of logical sense, but it is symbolic of a ship sinking, it is an analogy about the sinking prospects of the humans aboard to live rather than just survive. However in the moment I really just want emersion, I want to be in the world, and thats what makes the movie enjoyable for me.
opps a tl:dr post D: [i swear it didnt start out that way lol]
Pan Rysownik Rysuje Yeah, beating you over the head with a message tends to kill the enjoyment.
TheStateOfEarth I'm pretty sure in the TS3 review he mentions how it's almost specifically targeted at the millennials who are about the same age as Andy in the movie and talks about how that gives it a certain something, but that's not enough to make it appeal to all audiences. I'm in the same boat, i grew up watching TS1. While watching TS3 i was tearing up at the final scene with my roommates right next to me #noshame. That's not to say if i was 8 now that i'd enjoy it as much as i did TS1 thought, not by a long shot. By the time 3 rolled around they'd kind of used up ideas i think, so they had no other real option but to recycle.
Started watching your channel about a week ago and I'm already all the way through it. I like that you don't give kids' movies exceptions. I hope this channel lives forever.
7:33 is the most quick and efficient tying of a cape I've ever seen
Holy crap, I did not notice that XD
Was I the only one who crapped my pants laughing at the shower part?
Nope!
I just crapped my pants.
No siree bob!
The parts with the little mermaid music and dialogue were hilarious
The part with Let it Go played side-by-side with Firework exploded my brain.
I think you were much too kind, but your 6/10 is about right.
It really bugs me that most people's view on this movie being a masterpiece is due to the whole fact it wasn't romantic love that saved the day. Really? they talk about it like it's never been done before, like it's some original concept.
I suppose we just forget about "Brave" then?
True that.
ValkyrieCain123 Don't forget Mulan! The whole angle with Shang was the back story. She had originally went to save her fathers life.
ValkyrieCain123 I suppose everyone forgot about Lilo & Stitch being a Disney film about sisterly love too, as if Frozen was the first and only one to have that as a theme.
Um, Mulan? Or in a way Pocahontas with her finally standing up to her dad, choosing die to for what she believed in
4:35 you should change you're UA-cam logo to that
do more of that at 8:49 (where you combined two different songs that so happen to be in the same key and tempo to prove your point) it was really funny
fuck i did not wanna see that shower scene
I did...( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
I did.
You're the only one who didn't, basically.
***** call me a fagot but I did. alot actually.
Wow, 6 years later and he does the same exact intro. Spectacular.
the shower scene left me on the floor crying from laughter!
me too
Aphex Twin
I honestly would appreciate this movie if they actually went for the more risky path of red hair girl actually dieing
then let your creativity take you away at what happens next. like the ice queen singing wanna build a snowman in a minor key instead of a major
+AmericanFroatoa69 then, well I don't know the queen then tries her best to control her powers and in the everything
+AmericanFroatoa69 she then melts the snow and ice a little because of her hidden live for her sister which she takes notice then uses it to her full extent.
+AmericanFroatoa69 while all the town's people are happy that there land is no longer frozen yet the queen still holds her dead sister in her hands in the water thinking this will be her last few minutes on earth because of her terrible deed.
+AmericanFroatoa69 and then if I or anybody else wanted too make it so she doesn't then she doesn't because of her train of thought thinking about how her sister just risked her life just to find her so she thinks oh wait I better not kill my self because all this would have been for nothing. and she comes out of the water meeting both men where she then declares banishment of the asshole and ask the man with the ice pick to come to the castle and have dinner or something
The slow camera crawl to your smiling face in the shower is what made me hit the "like" button.
6:20
I love your dialogue for this scene so much
4:31 richard d james album
4:50 "Like no one washing dishes at home will start talking to themselves like..." I am one of those people. WHOOPS.
but is it dodie yellow tho?
10:07 Don't worry Adam, 3 years later there'll be a fully 20 minutes short featuring Olaf before Coco
Me through the "Under the Sea" scene: PLEASE FOR THE LOVE OF ANYTHING BLINK PLEASE BLINK PLEASE BLINK JUST FUCKING BLINK JUST BLINK SOMEONE SEND HELP
sold. first time I'm watching one of your videos and the shower scene has single handedly won you a subscriber 👏🏼👍🏼👌🏼

+Bear1Sane8 YourMovieSucksDotfanbase... i guess
But there's 4 hands in your comment, not counting the word hand.
Emoji overload
YES.. SAME, JUST.......... Just yes.
8:56 damn, it sounds almost identical
I am blessed with 2 nephews that think this is a boring movie. I don't even remember when this movie came out but the toy stores are fucking blue and purple *everywhere*.
