Nice job. You were very wise to get the guide rod as I had the same thing happen to me a year ago with my new CA version. Hi velocity ammo reduces failures. Several chains have Aguila Super Extra .22 bulk packs that work great with this CA version. I am seeing a lot of CCI in SoCal this past two weeks at Turners, Sportsman's, Big 5 and at the ranges.
Careful mine had a catastrophic malfunction after about 500 thirtyaround. Thankfully, nobody was injured. The slide broken half and the front half stayed on the pistol and the rear half blew off and hit my friend in the chest again thankfully. Not very hard
Am starting to run into failure to extract issues (around 1000 rounds fired so far). All after market manufactures seem to have stopped making replacement extractors. If any one knows were I can find one let me know. Other than that one issue, the weapon has no problems.
@@d.s.steele3100 sure thing I'll reply with the link to a good site to purchase gun parts off of I can't remember what it is off the top of my head but the guys at the gun shop that I was shooting at the other day recommended it as I am having trouble finding a 3.4 inch barrel replacement as I have a 5 inch and I'm not happy with it most of the places that I checked were always out of stock and they were confident that this site had it
@@Kwondetti2: Thanks, bought the new Eagle Claw Extractor from TandemKross.com. See my vid on the install and test firing. It worked very well. TandemKross.com came through again with what I needed.
Nice detailed review. I’ve had mine about 3 months and it came with a captured spring thankfully 😅. Good tip on cleaning the barrel as my method wasn’t working I was using the 22 sized items that came with my cleaning kit which just weren’t working. I appreciate your knowledge, experience, and expertise. I’m impressed with the pistol too I’ve been liking for a .22 and found this on sale. Nice little pistol in my book.
Just look on gun brokers to find all the cci you need. Picked up 500 rounds for 70 bucks. Recently purchased a Walter p22 Ca but haven't had time to shoot it yet.
@@Warez556: If you bought the weapon in California there is a 10 day waiting period. Check your receipt for the earliest time you can pick it up. You will see that that time is to the minute if not to the second. CCI seems to be the ammo of choice for most people, but make sure that what ever brand you buy it is supersonic (1200 fps or greater). I had little trouble using Remington bulk ammo after I made the changes I showed in my video.
It does not make any sense to buy common ammo on line here in CA. It still has to be shipped to an FFL, who will charge a handling fee and you still pay for the "instant" background check.
@@melroberts8877: I'm 3rd generation Californian. We voted red up through Reagan. Then the liberals started moving in from out of state. They came for our moderate climate. Then they started screwing things up. Unfortunately Colorado and Nevada are going the same way. Big city populations are controlling state/federal policies. If you check how California voted by county in 2020 you will see that most of the eastern part of the state voted red. Want to know why a lot of us support the State of Jefferson movement? Another way to shut down some of the BS is to assign Electors by how their district voted not winner take all as I believe 49 of 50 states currently do. California Dems. would lose about a third of the Electors and I think it would be a similar case in the north east states.

When set on safe a block plate prevents the hammer from hitting the firing pin. This does allow dry firing for practice but I personally like to ease the hammer down when not actually practicing.
Check California's hand gun roster rules. A manufacture can't make ANY changes/upgrades to a weapon with out going through the entire recertification process even something as simple as a dab of paint. The p22ca is actually the first generation of the p22. Later versions of the p22 have a lot of the "bugs" worked out but it isn't worth it to Walther to get them certified for sale in CA. I am hoping the current Supreme Court throws some of these BS anti 2A laws out. PS: California has a micro stamping requirement on any "new" guns before they make the roster. There is no practical technology that exists for doing this. As a result there are no new guns, that I know of, that can be sold in California. This is a PS to my PS two years after my video posted: As of 2024 the micro stamping requirement has been suspended and a very limited number of new weapons have made the roster.
I believe the P 22 CA is the new version P22 Q without the Captured spring. It has new beefier Slide, removed trigger lock, new better grip, new Magazine. That is the improvements from the earlier version P 22.

do I also need to change the extractor? did they change anything from the first gen to this CA version.

Thanks for the review and cleaning. I’ve been considering pulling the trigger (pun intended) on the P22Q for a while and now I think I will!
Please look at the barrel of the gun. Is there a thread inside the gun?
I got my p22 at Turners, but they didn't have the handgun at the store so they told me once it came in my process of 10 day hold would start
Where did you get the spring from I like to get one

I got my Walther about a week ago but. Still waiting on Turners to call me, what's good ammo for the p22

What type of rifling ?
I'm thinking that your asking what the twist of the groves for the rifling are. Sorry I do not have that info. Walther may have those specifications.

Why did they remove the red dot to signify safety / fire on this weapon for CA models?
