Thanks for the video ,very helpful since I've never had to do it on my 97 Ford f150 ,but I wish I'd seen it sooner though so I could of bought a tool like you have ,I bought an air impact chisel to break mine loose ,so I guess I'll have to use it to tighten it up too ,or maybe go buy one after ,and make sure it's tight ,thank you!
Not sure but I know if coolant is leaking out of the tiny hole then it's bad. It's normal to see small amount coming out thr hole as it lubricates the pump. I changed it because it's old and I was in their doing repairs from an accident. I still have the old pump. The rubber seal on it looks bad and was probably leaking. If it fails you'll know it will seize and snap the belt. The old pump was still working so I saved it you never know.
definitely not original and definitely not motorcraft... Motorcraft has a green center and black thread protector... Mine was original and bearing went out... started as a chirp then 6 months later a screach then screaming with grinding growling sound... pump was good bearing was not...
Hey whats the best brush material to use on the housing Im about to actually take mine out and anticipating lots of rust but even worse I used blue devil radiator block sealer cuz I was convinced the water loss was intake.. blue devil must have ruined the bearing do you agree? If coolant came out the vent and had blue devil in it Id say thats why the bearing went... pump is good but the bearing was wobbly... didnt lose more than a galoon on a year of friving with that bearing sound. Some say it was a total miracle but Im just learning

Whats the symptoms that the water pump is failing ?
How many miles did the OEM water pumps last for on this truck?

@@dfls5069 its old but seizing and leaking are reasons to change it. I would change the thermostat thats probably the issue.
@@dfls5069 when you have temp issues its usually the thermostat.
@@dfls5069 its the seal you worry about.... the older coolants suck... I use only water unless its mid winter...
Thanks, nice video
Neither one of those water pumps is a motorcraft. Original ford water pump has a shrouded impeller.
I'll double check the old pump.
