      Hi tooba, maybe you should wear big wigs instead of scarves. You have to cover your natural hair, right? Well, a wig is a cover.
      Maybe a group of strong women should try this trick. Stay strong in your beautiful country with absurd rules for women.

      Same things, just 5 years later.

    • @diya7737
      @diya7737 4 роки тому +25

      @@sneeuwballa not at all. Many Asian and African countries are creating their own trends that are being heavily appropriated in western countries. For example, anything with the 'boho' floral or 'tribal' prints that you see in the likes of European fast fashion outlets often started off as the traditional Indian 'warli' style or are heavily inspired by the embroidery and threadwork on the abayas and shawls of the Middle East. The loose, flowy pants that I see trending all over Instagram have been the patialas or kameez that Indian women have been wearing for centuries. Meanwhile, new silhouettes, cuts and materials merging western styles with indigenous fabric and design are becoming all the rage (the delicate indigo-dyed crop tops or kalamkari design wrap dresses are available every where from high end boutiques to street sellers in India). What Alexa says about covering up becoming more trendy due to Instagram removing its 'like' feature - I know it was a joke, but just look towards South Asia and the middle East for examples of modest, comfortable yet flattering fashion that keeps you cool on sweltering days. Due to our weather and social norms, it is constantly evolving. Furthermore, you point out that we are 5 years behind in these countries, but that is actually factually fairly inaccurate as well. Most of the trends western countries wear are literally produced in Bangladesh, Vietnam, Cambodia, Nigeria and so on. While a huge quantity is exported to Europe, the same items are sold, often for way cheaper, in these same countries and across the continents. So we people in Asia have access to the same trends as Europeans and if people do dress behind the times, it is often out of poverty and necessity, or out of a cultural custom of not wasting and wearing outdated clothes simply because there's nothing wrong with them.

    • @perseagratissima
      @perseagratissima 4 роки тому +6

      @@diya7737 You are right in most things, but embroidery is also part of most European traditional costumes! :) Europe isn't only fast fashion and has a really old history when it comes to traditional clothes and cloths as well. Don't confuse Europeans with white Americans, thank you 😊

    • @diya7737
      @diya7737 4 роки тому +8

      @@perseagratissima of course :) I never said that Europe is only fast fashion, I am sure there is a rich history behind its clothes, such as the German Dirndl and so on. I was responding to the original commenter's implication that Asian, African and Latin American fashion trends are a mere imitation of European ones, only five years later. In reality, the US and European fast fashion companies that are responsible for 'creating' the trends we see often appropriate traditional fashions from the same regions the original commenter described as being 5 years behind, bringing them to the West without crediting the cultures that came up with them. In fact, the interconnectedness of European and Asian/African/Latin American textile is long and complicated. While both regions have their own unique fashions, I think it's also fair to say that non-European traditional textile industries have suffered immensely due to North American and European exploitation - just look at how the British colonizers literally cut off the thumbs of Indian weavers to stop their trade, or how today, traditional African textiles are suffering due to how the trendy clothes from fast fashion brands that are discarded by European consumers are resold in Africa for dirt cheap, making it hard for them to create and sell their own indigenous clothing. I completely agree with you that Europe is not only defined by fast fashion or trendy clothing, though.

      Leila Kennedy agreed. I started learning dressmaking 18 months ago , I believe mending ( Japanese sashiko ) and making your own as well as sourcing from more ethical companies will be the future. When you make your own clothes , you realise what a lot of work goes in so you look after them better. Companies like Patagonia have a send it back to mend policy - and Toast have mending workshops here and there and a couple of stores you can bring your worn items to swap etc. The world is overrun with clothing !

      DOn't tuck in your belly. It is very unhealthy as it forces you to breath through the top of your longs instead of the bottom/your belly. How you feel is very dependant on how you breath. If you want to be sure of yourself and happy breath correctly. I love seeing a girls belly not being tucked in, looks more natural.
