Omg this is tripping me out - pregnancies are 40 weeks (and we assume 4 weeks per month so 10 months) but really the average month is 4.3 weeks, so the 40 weeks is really 9.3 months 😦
Plus the pregnancy is counted from first day of last period, not actual ovulation/conception, so there's really something like 2 weeks of walking around not-pregnant that is counted as being pregnant. So it really is closer to 9 months.
I think the 10 months refers to lunar months since women's cycles are lunar. A lunar month is roughly 29.5, which is roughly 4 weeks (commonly seen as 1 lunar month= 28 days, or 4 weeks with 7 days a week). Hence, 10 lunar months. I've asked this question before too ;) ha!
This. I have never thought about it. As a Chinese, the 10 months have always seemed to refer to the lunar calendar for me, coz we use it. While learning english, I always heard 9 months or 10 months, and I have never considered that it was wrong.
It's usually 40 weeks from the first day of your last period until your due date, but you're actually pregnant for 38 weeks. They count for the extra 2 weeks as it's easier. 40 weeks divided by 4 is 10 months but most months are usually more than 4 weeks, only February has 4 exact weeks (unless it's a leap year). So if you think about it you're actually only pregnant for around 9 months. It sounds so complicated but I hope it does make sense as it's the best way I can explain it! X

Uncover, drain, run under cold water to stop the cooking process - and make it easier to peel. Peel (well, yes). Enjoy.
A pregnancy lasts 40 weeks which is roughly 9 calendar months - a calendar month is between 4 and 4,5 weeks (28-31 days). The only month that actually lasts 28 days is a leap-year February, as well as 29 days (normal February). The other months all have 30 or 31 days.
For the pregnancy question, the answer depends. Most children are born between 37 weeks to 42 weeks. So that's actually shy of 9 months to shy of 10 months. But the weeks are counting from the 1st day of your last menstrual period (assuming you have a 28 day cycle). For a 28 day menstrual cycle, in general, you ovulate in the middle. So that means for the 1st 2 weeks in that the pregnancy week count, you are not with child.
Thanks for answering my question 😆 that was super cool! Egg-wise, I’d say 5:30 minutes from the point the water starts to boil. 7 minutes for the perfect hard boiled, top-tip: use a teaspoon to peel it when cooled.

Hey Alexa! I have an answer to the pregnancies - they do last 9 months, but if you go to the doctor, they count in your last cycle, too. So the first day of your last period, ovulation and fertilization = 1 month, which they then add up to the 9 months of the time you are actually pregnant. So, there you go, 10 months, but including the month of your last cycle, in which you only got pregnant. 🌈

5 minutes for an perfect egg, from the boiling moment (perfect egg is: egg yolk is firmed from outer corners, but def NOT runny, but also not too liquidish inside- this is perfect EGG. Sometimes boiling time depends on the size of an egg big/small the time can be adjusted for a 15-20 seconds)
I'm a New Zealander and can confirm that we're full. We've been going through a housing crisis for a while now and it's only getting worse. Traffic is a nightmare. We just don't have the infrastructure to handle the booming population.
Answer to the egg question...put the eggs in cold water, turn to high until it boils then take the pan off the burner and let sit for 10 min. (for a soft/hard center), maybe 6 min. for a soft center? Crocodiles, alligators and chickens are all currently living dinosaurs. Just think/intend that "it's going to be calm and peaceful on my time line" OR "that's (the craziness) not happening on my time-line".
The egg thing. If your egg is at room temperature - strictly 4 minutes with a tablespoon of vinegar in the boiling water - will help guard against boiling cracks. If the egg has been in the fridge - why would you put an egg in the fridge? Put it in cold water in the pot and once it has been brought to the boil - again strictly 4 minutes - cooked white - runny yolk. Yes there will be more dinosaurs.
About those eggs.... 5 minutes in boiling water, cut the flame and let sit for 5 more minutes and then dump out the water and let the egg sit in cold water for 5 more minutes. Should be soft in the center but you can adjust the setting time if you need.
Hey, Alexa, I know the answer for the boiled egg. Fully boiled the water and insert the egg which is taken from fridge seconds before and wait medium heat for 6-7 mins. I suggest you to soak room/cold water soon enough, and peel.... it’s a bit of orange inside!
Re the egg Q: Size, in or out of the fridge and other variables means saying how long is tricky. I worked for a charming old lady once who taught me that the egg is at that perfect stage you describe when you scoop if out of the water onto a spoon and the water begins to dry on the egg shell, bit by bit. Try it! XO
@@ritatocta7583 I have been wearing "Air Optix for Astigmatism" for years and they have this rating, as do the other Air Optix versions. I mostly take them out at night but I've also slept in them a lot, including the full 30 days while traveling and never have any issues. My eye doc says she can't see any problems with my eyes related to this. Sometime last year the company came out with Air Optics Day & Night Aqua which they actively market as being for 30 days continuous wear, and when they released them they changed the recommendation for the other Air Optix varieties to 6 days. I'm 100% confident this was just a marketing tactic because nothing has changed about the older versions and the new ones cost 3x as much so of course they want you to buy them.
Egg question: you put the egg in water, let it boil without lid on medium. Once you see the bubbles you turn off the stove, put lid on and let it sit on hot water for no later than 10 minutes. Then remove the shell with cold water. Doneeeeee
Perfect eggs method one: Put eggs in cold water and take out once the water boils. Perfect eggs method two: Boil water first, put eggs in for 3/12 minutes. Take out and let stand for two minutes. Remove all tops at same time to avoid continued cooking.
So when you boil an egg in the shell (aka hard boiled egg) you want to boil it for 6 minutes and then submerge it in ice cold water straight after, this makes it 'jammy' in the middle and perfect, stops it from overcooking. Also, you can come and live at my house in New Zealand, I'll give you a demonstration.
As for eggs, put water on the stove, turn it to the little 4 (1-6 are available on mine) put eggs in right away. When it boils put it away and let cool. Eggs will be nice and boiled 🙂
Eggs shouldn’t be kept in a fridge as they absorb any smells, so a perfect runny egg is 3 1/2 minutes timed from when the water is just starting to come to a boil and then you immediately turn the water down so it is just simmering x
Egg question, answer.. boil water first, put the egg time for 7mins, then put in cold water to stop cooking after the 7 mins mark.. 6 mins is perfect if you like it runny yolk..x
Full term pregnancy is calculated as being 40 weeks. Which is 10 months. However, Your gestational weeks are only 38 weeks. You are not PREGNANT for the first 2 weeks as those are the weeks that are during yur cycle and fertilization
6 min on the egg. However, you have to put the egg in the boiling water. This means you must poke a hole in it for the air to escape, or it cracks and makes a disgusting protein mess in the water. More work upfront, but worth it for the perfect egg every time.
About the egg: you put the egg in the water, then when the water boils you time 4min. The egg will be perfect cooked in the outside and with a runny yolk
They grey ring on the outside of a boiled egg's yolk is sulfur accumulating cause it kept cooking too long. Prevented by an ice bath - I usually just pour out the hot water and run the eggy and pot in cold.

A's to Alexa's Q's: 1. Can you sleep in contact lenses and survive? YES. I've done it, I don't recommend it, but it's survivable. Better if they're soft. 2. How do you make the perfect boiled egg? Use the Egg Timer iOS app by the Egg Farmers of Canada. It will tell you how to make ANY kind of egg, exactly the way you want it. It's great if you, like me, have no interest in remembering how to make eggs correctly. (I'm very serious about this one.) 3. More dinosaurs? Yes! I think they've already got some bones they thought were one dinosaur but are now pretty sure belong to something they don't really know about yet. I'm most excited about learning about dinosaur feathers, though. 4. Where will we live when it gets crazy? Hopefully we all pick somewhere different but I'm hoping for an all-lady Mars colony. Men's eyes can't do space, what a terrible tragedy.... 5. What's with the you're pregnant actually for 10 months thing? I think it just takes about a month to figure out that you're definitely pregnant, usually! I could google this to be sure ... but I will not.

Eggs not stored in fridge can go spoiled..but i live in a tropical country
About those eggs.... 5 minutes in boiling water, cut the flame and let sit for 5 more minutes and then dump out the water and let the egg sit in cold water for 5 more minutes. Should be soft in the center but you can adjust the setting time if you need.
I've to watch it all again cause i missed everything with staring at that beautiful dress the whole time..
I've never gotten so many best-friend vibes from anyone as much as Alexa. :o ❤️❤️
boil the eggs for 7 minutes with salt in the water (for medium eggs) toss them in when the water is already boiling
You are GOALS Alexa 😍 love that you played waitress for D'Caprio 😂👏 smart, funny and beautiful. Thanks for being you! And getting on UA-cam!
Try it! XO
Bring water to rolling boil, turn off heat-stay on heat source- gently place in eggs. Do not overcrowd. Time for twelve minutes exactly. Voila!
I relate to that thing about googling stuff at night. The other day it was "who'd win in a fight between a lion and a snake?"
Depends on your contact lenses. The ones I wear are rated for 30 days of continuous wear, day and night!
Never heard of those! Can you tell me the brand so I can ask my doctor?
@@beverlyf6603 ! Thank you so much for answering!!! All the best! I'm going to look into that 😃
Egg question: you put the egg in water, let it boil without lid on medium. Once you see the bubbles you turn off the stove, put lid on and let it sit on hot water for no later than 10 minutes. Then remove the shell with cold water. Doneeeeee
Boil an egg for 7 minutes for it to be perfect, 5 for runny.. you’re welcome
It's 6 mins
I’m Actually Lucie 7:20 to be precise 😂😂
What if the egg is out from the fridge? 😂
It depends on what type of egg and the size of the egg surely?
It also depends on elevation. Water boils at lower temperatures at higher elevations.
Perfect eggs method one: Put eggs in cold water and take out once the water boils.
Perfect eggs method two: Boil water first, put eggs in for 3/12 minutes. Take out and let stand for two minutes. Remove all tops at same time to avoid continued cooking.
Yes you can wear contact lenses to sleep and be okay. There are correction lenses that only work if you wear them overnight so that’s also a thing...
It made me laugh when she would choose Kate and Daniel as pet names with a serious face lol
The stuff with the egg: chuck the egg into cold water. Bring it to boil. The soon it starts to boil/simmer, count up to 30. It is ready.
The more i watch her, the more I love her
"Slide. She has a slide to get out of her office" - omg, she's gorgeous AND that's a goal indeed! 😄
Beautiful background
I love your dress. Thanks Alexa for
brightening up my day
Anybody has any idea where is the dress from? Is it her own label one?
Egg question, answer.. boil water first, put the egg time for 7mins, then put in cold water to stop cooking after the 7 mins mark.. 6 mins is perfect if you like it runny yolk..x
Put egg in cold water, bring to a boil, turn off and leave uncovered for 10 minutes. (I do 11 minutes, but you seem to want it softer.)
About the egg: Put it into boiling water and boil it for 6:30 min. Perfection
A pregnancy is 40 weeks but since most months are longer 28 days it comes out to be closer to 9 months than 10.
Alexa's responses are the best!
I still love Alexa so much.
eggs in cold water bring to boil. 11 minutes from putting eggs in water for smiling eggs aka not runny, not firm yolk.
genius. love the background set up
Boil water in saucepan. Put eggs in and start timer for exactly! Five! Minutes! Perfect egg every time!
Thanks for ending it by reminding us to not stay on the screen too long💕 health comes first
About the egg: you put the egg in the water, then when the water boils you time 4min. The egg will be perfect cooked in the outside and with a runny yolk
6min boil. Clock it. At 6min take it out and plop it in iced water. Peel and enjoy perfection. Goes best with sea salt.
I thought she was gonna say her fav fashion decade were the 60s xD
I agree about Miuccia Prada - I love her and would completely follow her advice re fashion and life generally!
They grey ring on the outside of a boiled egg's yolk is sulfur accumulating cause it kept cooking too long. Prevented by an ice bath - I usually just pour out the hot water and run the eggy and pot in cold.
Book: How to boil an egg
by Rose Carrarini. She owns Rose Bakery, an Anglo-French bakery in Paris, also London location (18-22 Haymarket, SW1Y 4DG)
Im sure she would be happy to teach you how to boil the perfect egg and it would be a fun video !
6-7 min is perfection, I think 😘🥚
A's to Alexa's Q's:
(I'm very serious about this one.)
