A great vlog , I have really enjoyed it , thanks for posting . Well I have been lucky enough to own 4 of the 6 you have shown here , ran more races in the vapourfly then any other , 2 13.1’s , 2 26.2’s ( one was virtual though) and a local 10k in Clitheroe at Xmas. 2021. While it was fast ( for me) I had an issue with it bottoming out in the forefoot . I am the only person I have spoken too with that complaint though. Mizuno’s. A wild ride need to have more of a play as my fitness improves , Puma a ‘dependable jack of all trades’ at a dang good price. The NB v3 is an interesting one , I had written off but recently I have been using them for my intervals and they are a bit like a swing wing jet, when you are pottering about , quite squishy and to my mind overly bouncy… but when you get close or below 7min miles they firm up and provide a fantastic spring.
All good points John. You are quite correct, I think many of the new 'supershoes' work well at specific speeds - of course, that is personal too!
Just did first run in Mizuno wave rebellion Pro. Amazing shoe and I am a heel striker and slow runner.. I have wide feet and went up half a size but shoe is really wide so could have gone TTS. Strange for walking but once running even in warmup pace amazing.
Yes, once up to speed it's great.
Great review ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Much appreciated - which is your favorite?
@@marathonhandbook Got my 5K PB in the original VF 2 years ago at 55 and 70% age grade
10K PB in AF v1
Half marathon PB in Prime X
Not sure which is my favourite shoe tho
Have been enjoying the AAAPro3.. much prefer running in that and it's predecessor than the Nikes
I really enjoyed your review and the one you did on the Mizuno WR Pro.. really intrigued by that shoe been watching eBay for months trying to bag a bargain 😉
New Balance SC elite V3 is amazing. Excellent for wide feet. Super Trainer +?
Yes, SC Elite is a great racer and durable enough for training. i'd try not to use it all the time for training. A shoe like the SC Trainer would be the perfect shoe for daily miles.
You overlooked the Atreyu The Artist - great performance/price ratio!
Not tried the shoe, maybe when they use a better foam than EVA it would be as good as the competition overall?
@@marathonhandbook EVA isn't bad?? New Balance's FuelCell is a supercritical EVA that many people love... Obviously, a $100 carbon-plated supercritical EVA shoe isn't going to be as good as $200+ superfoam racers...
Nike Alphafly 1 is still my favourite. The Adidas Adios Pro 3 suprised me, but the lateral stability is not good enough for a marathon. I'm about to try the mizuno rebellion pro next.
Let us know how you like them.
@@marathonhandbook I've done a couple of runs in the mizuno including a 28km. It's fun. Firmer but still bouncy. I guess the hidden energy core helps with bounce. The rocker starts really early and flattens in the toe off. This results in the impression, that there is not enough foam for pushing against at toe off. The geometry works for me at really fast paces, where I skip the start of the rocker and bounce against the flat part without much pushing against (I've run a 16:29 Parkrun in them). Or at easier paces, where I do not toe of much.
warning: the heel counter is extremely abrasive, I had blisters on both heels after the long run.
@@marathonhandbookI also tried the NB SC elite. It's amazing how much improvement in propulsiveness a stiffer plate and a cutout for more compression of the foam can make, compared to version 2.
@@marathonhandbookps: I'm still going to use my Alphafly 1 in my next marathon next weekend.
I am looking for a carbon plated running shoe but not sure if any would be ok to use with custom orthotics can you please advise me on any models would be suitable
Very difficult subject. First, we should look at the type of orthotic and question its efficacy. Is it half/three-quarter length and 'rigid' plastic or a more 'foam' based material? If rigid, think about how much it stiffens how many of the 26 bones in the foot? As a carbon shoe will be a racing model could you perhaps get away without the orthotic as the shoe itself will be stiff and using it occasionally just for racing will only be a very small percentage of your overall running time during the week/month? Of the shoes shown in this video I'd say the Saucony feels the most stable and would be my choice. Hope this helps.
Very special video. In one word... ¿Endorphin Elite o Vaporfly 2? 😅
Vaporfly 2 just edges it for me - just!! Both great shoes.
Adidas adios Pro 3 absolutely a great Supershoes. Great for wide feet.. Love the shoe.
To be honest i thought they were quite a slim fitting shoe - but we are all different after all!
@@marathonhandbook Puma Deviate Nitro Elite V1 very narrow. V2 much better but still narrower then the Adidas Pro 3. Takumi sen 8 and 9 VERY narrow. Impossible for me.
Vaporfly V2 the most propulsive shoe ever but unstable for heel striker.. Did not get the Vaporfly V3 yet.. Waiting for the sale...
For sure it can be unstable - but it is a racing shoe, so at speed we should be a little more mid to forefoot striking.
@@marathonhandbook I can't run fast enough for it long distance 😭
For some reason the Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 2 is causing me problems. After first long run back pain... After second hard long run groin pain. I am 60 and slow runner... I don't have those problems in any other shoe. I think that maybe the Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 2 is to soft and narrow ❓
You say 'first long run BACK' - are you recovering from a previous injury or illness? Perhaps, as you say 'slow runner' other shoes would be better suited than a carbon plated racing shoe?
@@marathonhandbook My back hurts after running in the Puma Deviate Nitro Elite 2... For some reason I don't run streight in them?
are CARBON suitable for older people + begginers?
That's a good question. Carbon plates are commonly found in racing/competition-type shoes. 'Older people' is quite an arbitrary question, I'm 55 and use many carbon-plated shoes as do runners older than me. For beginners, it's probably best to simply get 'used to running regularly' before considering them.
@@marathonhandbook yep i'm running about 4-5 years now, 48 old cripple :)
Puma Deviate nitro elite 2 is Amazing but as a super trainer not for racing..
Yeah, it's a good 'fast trainer' but perfectly good enough for racing for many people. It's a great price too.
