ah i wish games like this had a endless mode just so can see how far you can push a build, I would have loved to see knifes get upgraded so you have next to all upgraded weapons
I think the only reason is that there isn't infinite upgrades and it just makes dying after 30 pretty much guaranteed but I'd imagine it's not that hard to implement scaling...
I mean after Knives that would be the last upgrade, so once a couple more difficulty spikes came you'd lose anyway 30 minutes works for the game for the amount of weapons and upgrade slots available
Essentially freeplay from bloons would be cool, but honestly I think it'd hurt the magic a little. If you can achieve all your cool dream weapons in freeplay, it makes it kind of less special or important getting them in a real run. I'm not sure, it's a little counterintuitive, but that's certainly how I've felt sometimes in other games.
@@Rubbly the point im making is just to push it as far as it can go. like his newest video he was able to easily do the last 5 minutes without moving... so lets see how far that can be pushed with build in the endless mode.
That little bit at 5:30 to about the 6 minute mark is actually a really good thing to talk about on the internet! Autism and other similar neurodivergent conditions can cause people to misunderstand or even be unable to understand tones. This extends to any form of conversation, verbal or not. It may seem like you run into a lot of people like that on the internet, but that's due to the fact that a lot of neurodivergent people use the internet and especially content creators as a form of escape (kind of, it's not that simple). They can often form attachments to creators or even whole platforms that cause them to fixate on things, leaving it to seem like there are a large quantity of them, when in reality they are just extremely vocal about their interests! It's honestly really cool to see people talking about interests and that sort of thing. I wouldn't take it personally if it seems like someone just can't pick up on tone of voice.
I think I remember hearing something about the game condensing any off-screen gems into a singular red gem if they're far enough away and there's too many gems currently on screen? That's probably why you ended up collecting red gems that give you like 6+ levels worth of xp lol
Just a note- but Ebony wings and the Pigeon's shots are shit at the start because the area each shot hits scales with AOE, and at the start- that means its basically pin point accuracy at a random point in the area they are supposedly aiming at, so they normally miss everything.
From what I’ve heard, the way xp works is that if there are a certain amount of orbs on the floor, any new monsters killed won’t drop a new orb, they will add their xp value to the oldest gem. That’s why you would sometimes find a red gem that gave you a ton of levels.
Fun thing about death spiral is that the axe never expires, so you can follow one direction endlessly and you'll make a line of axes flying in front of you
There's an on screen gem cap. So it is dealt with by taking all the extra xp that can't appear on screen and it stuffs it into a single red gem indefinitely. If you see a red gem out of place its likely its packed huge with xp
14:08 I haven’t seen many people notice this, but if there are too many gems spawned, the game will ‘compress’ off screen gems into a single red gem that has all the xp combined. That’s why one red gem will occasionally give tons of xp at once.
Gotta love Tyler only halfway understanding mechanics. You said previously that if you go back to a place you've been to after being offscreen for a while all the gems will have combined into a single red gem And yet you're surprised every time you do just that and acquire one of those superpowered red gems and level up 4 times
Fun fact for anyone who is interested. If you start out with Poe on the library map, for the first 3 minutes you can absolutely mow through literally everything
Love the series, been watching your stuff for a while, and I think the phrase you were looking for at 7:15 was "quality of life" which just refers to small changes that hold little mechanical value and were done to improve the feeling/immersion of the player, make things smoother, etc
I have just realized I watch your videos the most consistently because I almost always find them to be very entertaining, only times I dont is when I don't really like the game. You are one of my favorite content creators
I don't think Luck increases the number of light sources (fires / candelabras), but it's supposed to increase the chance of them dropping something other than 1 or 10 coins; the chance of triple / quintuple chests; and the chance of critical hits with certain evolved weapons.
I think the game has an optimization thing where it spawns red gems from excess experience and old crystals to lower the entity count, so you can occasionally pick up a mega gem with all the extra expand get multiple levels at once.
the game has a cap on how much xp crystals could be on the ground. when the cap is reached, it picks one of the crystals present, and starts adding xp to it per enemy killed (should it drop xp), so when you picked up the red gem, its just a super condensed xp orb of all the xp gathered from when you hit that cap
@@trinityy-7 just leaving this comment here because he seemed to be confused when picking the condensed red orb multiple times saying "how many red crystals were stacked there?" and "how does this happen?" when picking up a red crystal and then leveling up like a million times
In my recent games, I've been having those scenarios where I level up like... 7 times in instant succession, and I'm not even sure if it's on purpose anymore because it's INSANE power.
The word you were looking for having to do with flavor, design, etc is Thematics. When a game has solid thematic design everything works well together and makes our brains especially happy
You are 100% right Tyler. People will always assume the worst of what you could possibly mean. Especially in text (UA-cam comments and Twitter), where there is no tone of voice
I don’t think it works if I remember correctly. Funnily enough there’s another secret character if you manage to kill him but I don’t know if there’s actually a way to do it without messing with the game files.
You can't kill reapers but using the freeze and shield item you can survive for a lot longer. But after a while additional reapers will spawn. I've seen somebody survive to 39:00 and 9 or 10 reapers.
I think The reason why you found so many piles of red gems is that when a lot of blue gems are off screen, the game removes them and replaces them with an equivalent amount of experience as red gems to reduce lag.
If I remember correctly, the reason so much xp can be in one gem is because after a certain number of gems are on the board, the amount of xp gets dumped into one gem, making that gem give a ton of xp
About what Tyler was saying about people thinking he's upset... I know I think people (including streamers/youtubers) are upset about things when they aren't, but for me it's my social anxiety and trouble reading social cues. I really appreciate the clarification about Tyler's actual feelings as a result. xD
Tyler, meta game tip for you. There is a maximum amount of orbs that can be on screen at a time. If you stand in one spot for long enough and don’t collect orbs, just off screen will spawn a couple red orbs that each give you an insane amount of xp. I figured it oit when I got 13 levels from one gem.
5:52 Hey Tyler just going to throw this out there. I have autism so I have trouble with tone that may be a factor because I didn't notice the 'joy' in your tones. Just throwing that out there as to why some people may not get it
The game works in such a way that it tries to never despawn gems, but if you move far enough away they bundle into red gems, which will sometimes have a lot more EXP than others. That's why you sometimes run into ones that give you 4 levels all at once. You also only level each time you pick up another gem, which means the levels might stagger a little bit. If you pay attention to the level bar and notice it's full between the staggered levels it'll make sense.
got the game after watching you and am enjoying it a lot this combo is def my favorite its so good ans just fun to look at, this along with santa water and bible is just awesome
Maybe the experience/the red condensed experience orbs have some element of chance for an extra bonus level (as a bonus for finding it after moving far from it) that is triggered by luck? And that’s why you were getting so many levels in a row, or maybe you were just killing that many enemies w/on realizing it, fantastic video!!
Tyler “It should be shredding now right? Well kinda” literally shredding everything it comes in contact with and by far more damage than anything else. Yeah I think it’s shredding Tyler lol.
I read on a steam guide that exp gems out of range combine/stack into a single red gem, so I believe that's what was happening when you got many levels at once after grabbing a single red gem
Friendly reminder that this game is only 3 dollars, I would highly recommend it to anyone who’s at all interested. Plus you get to support the awesome developer.
I love Vandalier on anyone other than Exdash. lmao I hard focus projectiles in almost all my runs and he makes it so hard, but I guess it's pretty fun for a challenge.
from what I noticed, the birds are rare on the upgrade list. Everything else is more likely as getting the birds. The chests always give you an evolving weapon, if one is ready.
XP carries over into one or two gems usually on either side of the screen in a corner if there are too many gems loaded on screen at one time making many levels stack and collectible at any time.
if the "final boss" has an set amount of hp then probably with the perfect weapons and the correct character and getting the atractorb(idk how to spell it) so you can spam the chicken its probably possible to kill it
It doesn't work. It has a set amount of hp but it's over 100 million and if you check at the end, your attacks still only do less than 100 damage. The game's damage doesn't scale exponentially which is why mosteres that are bosses at the start are still reasonable enemies at the end. Even if you could do 100 attacks each doing 100 damage every second it would still take you several hours to kill one death and a new additional one spawns every minute. Rosaries (the things that clear the whole screen) also don't work. I think it also only does a fixed amount of damage (checking when he uses one at 25:30 it looks to be at most a few thousands). Though maybe it also just deals as much damage as each enemy has health and there's a special case so it doesn't kill reapers. But either way, it doesn't work. You can however survive a lot longer (until multiple reapers spawn) using the shield and freeze items and using the obstacles in the library map to block them. I've seen somebody survive to over 39:00 with 10 reapers. But it is possible to kill them using cheats to modify the damage numbers of weapons and you'll actually unluck death as a character then.
