Thank you so much for putting this up. This was one of my favorite movies as a kid, my parents would rent it week after week from the local video store. I don't think I've seen it in 30 years. Not since that old video rental place closed its doors. ❤
Im so glad i finaly found this, i've been looking for this movie for a long time now. I didnt remeber the name, just had an image in my head from 30 years ago. And i finaly found it, and it gave me so much nostalgic^^ And i cant believe that after all this time, it was Bryan Cranston's first movie!
This is actually my favourite adaptation of call of the wild because it focuses entirely on Buck and not John as the other ones tend to. Also the best looking Buck!
Agreed 💯 It shows what these dogs went through and the dynamics of canine relationships. Dogs can be complex in their temperaments and communication with each other. This is by FAR the best version ❤
@@Dear1Stupit1Dog nice and also it makes me realise the acting in this movies good but I hate the dialogue used in the narrated segments. Since theres no lip sinking problem they could have used actual quotes from the book. Why do these adaptations neglect Jack Londons amazingly written words.
This movie is RARE. Most ppl don't even know about it. Its a hard one to watch too.. but it shows what these dogs went through during the gold rush, and what they faced in the north. Many were stolen from their families, just like Buck was stolen. Many were beat and trained harshly. I bought this vhs on ebay years ago. I was obsessed with it as a kid in the 80s and 90s. Mom and dad bought me a German shepherd in 95, and I named him Buck. RIP Buck.❤
I can't help thinking that anime dogs fight like ninjas. All that jumping and dodging and lunging. In live action they mostly stand on their hind legs, front paws wrapped around each other's necks.
@@Alex.Hustad Oh I saw that already. Silver's probably the most talented fighter, even when outnumbered. And that move he pulled on Akakabuto......🤯 SHEESH!
This is probably one of the most accurate adaptations of Jack Londons book. But the narration could have been better if it were words from the original text. Since there is no lip sinking problem they could have had it be words from Jack Londons text. But this besides that the actings good and Bryan Cranstons first credited film role apparently.
@@aquastar4336 yeah but buck was Saint Bernard scotch shepherd mix in the book I get that wouldn’t be the easiest to draw but still (why does nobody get that right nobody gets it right) But yeah the art style is good, even though it’s not completely accurate to the descriptions given by Jack London. Sure I love book accuracy but it’s always nice to see an artists interpretation. Also where is the soundtrack for this movie it’s soundtrack has got to be one of the most interesting soundtracks I’ve ever heard, and there is no soundtrack of it.
I used to have the DVD of this, and I kinda choose kinda didn't have a choice and got rid of it. It was one of my favorites as a child, and I really wish I still had the DVD. Been looking all over for it and can't find it anywhere. But really glad the full thing is uploaded here at least!
It's very sad to see this poor dog watch as his him and his friends get treated like this watching as his dead friends get thrown off cliffs and his friends drowning. I know this a movie but just like Forest Gump I cried watching this
Agreed. Its very hard to watch. But quite accurate in showing what these dogs went through. 😢 Poor babies. It also focuses on the complex canine relationships. Which is hardly ever talked about or shown. They are often just as complex as we are in the personality and temperament.
I remember seeing this at a younger age. I wasn't much bothered by the blood scenes, but dang! The animation designs, especially with dogs showing teeth, yikes!

Fun Fact: This was Bryan Cranston's first film role
Who did he play
@@bluebilbo3559 Manuel and Pete
@@Ograws ok thank you, and it helps my biggest problem with the movie the narration dialogue.
Not quite. He did have a couple of Voice acting (and live acting ones) roles prior to this. Though this movie is the first film where he is credited.

Who’s watching this in 2024😂
Hello there
41:44 Aww, don't cry, Mercedes. It's gonna make me cry too. :'(

I love this movie. It has a pretty deep and powerful story concerning Buck's journey. Its all about enduring pain, and adapting to change.
Toei's rendition of Call of the Wild is super nostalgic to me
Where can I see the Japanese version?
@@blueberrypitbull87 Late to this reply, gosh now that I think about it, I don't know. Maybe it'll pop up one day.

you should watch ginga nagareboshi gin. Literal ninjas stuck in the bodies of dogs lol

I vaguely remember this from so long ago! Thanks for uploading!
I still can't believe it was a rabbit that caused Spitz and Buck's final beatdown.
I wonder if Buck would've stood a chance against Silver Fang.
Silver Fang is too superhuman. Dude can spindash and behead Buck in seconds.

Not if he had no reason too. Champion fighters can have morals too.

That's not Spitz. That's just some random dog. Spitz was right on the left of the others.
the commentary & voices are different from what i remember, but still enjoyed watching this again…
This movie brings back great old memories
The sound effects growling dogs used to have in 80s anime is way different than today. They don't use those "rrrrRRRRR" sound effects anymor.

I'll bet Buck could take on Chirin!
