Male kpop idols rarely get slut shamed or body shamed as opposed to female idols, not to mention how fans will attack female idols for doing the same stuff the guys do. Male idols obv get hate as well but there’s many instances where the women get dog piled on for basically no reason

@@iloveenha on almost every level bgs have it easier. Starting from the industry itself: Kpop companies more often than not treat their bgs way better than they ggs. They get more comebacks, more content for fans to enjoy, sometimes even a bigger budget, more concerts and tours and there isnt the constant fear that your favourite bg will be randomly disbanded during a hiatus.
Even award shows always grant bgs way more performance spots than ggs (for example last year ggs and bgs had an equal amount of performances on award shows although 2022 was called the year of the girl groups and in all the years before that bgs always got more spots. So it takes female idols to do so incredibly well, that their male counter parts are barely even talked about for them to get even a bit of equal treatment from award shows).
And all this leads to "unoyal fandoms" that bg stans so often like to talk about all the while they completely ignore that it is way harder for a gg stan to be "loyal" bc their fav gg regularly has 1-2 year long hiatuses, disbanding rumours every 2 months and other struggles I mentioned above.
ppl find anything to hate on when it comes to girl groups, they can’t just realise women are sometimes godly and are carrying the industry.

@njmsjmdctsea1043 3rd generation gg are unfortunately not supported except for blackpink, twice, red velvet and a few, it is because 90% of kpop fans both boy groups fans and girl groups fans are females, and female fans weren't that interested in girl groups for whatever reason but (whether people like to admit it or not) thanks to blackpink, girl groups are taken more seriously by companies and fans alike ( we have a long way tho kpop fans pick me's are still thriving still) , so now girl groups compete with boy groups (as they deserved for centuries 😂) girl groups are just ❤❤❤ they are the blue print of kpop

Finally, a video praising girl groups instead of dragging them. Also to mention, that this video is SO well made. Girl groups don’t get the credit they deserve. I’ve only discovered Kpop a year ago and 97% of what I listen to so far are gg. Fresh concepts, fresh sounds, and innovative, I never get bored of them. Honestly, I probably wouldn’t even be remotely interested in kpop without them.

i love girl groups so much. they are so diverse; if you find a group with that edgy dark concept and the next day you're wondering where all the cute ggs went then you'll find girl groups slaying that style also. sometimes they slay different concepts at once. appreciate them.
The reason why girl groups are so amazing is because they have to do more and challange themselves more. They fight for recognition with the general public as they relay heavily on it due to their smaller fanbases, therefore they have to consistently push themselves to impress. I say this as someone who got into kpop because of boy groups and was mostly listening to them until IVE and the sea of new girl groups that debuted last year. I now honestly love both, but I truly believe that GGs have to push themselves more which is why they are so fun and exciting, they think outside the box more and are always one step ahead. I love this video so much, I agree with everything. Girls groups are just the best. 🥺💖
this is so fucking well written, you actually got me in tears. the fact that so many girl groups have come before us still today have a HUGE impact on people of today. many people say “the 3rd Gen was the best Gen of kpop” but in all seriousness, EVERY generation is the best and they all play a HUGE part in the industry. girl groups will always stay as the backbones of the Kpop industry, no matter how many BTS there is, ggs played a important part and I will forever be grateful for that. ya 50/50's debut "The Fifty" is a no-skip album but just didn't have the publicity buzz and marketing behind it cuz their former CEO couldn't afford it. Just hope they remain together as a group and comeback under a new company with better management like ADOR! ADOR would make magic with 50/50's talent!
Their current producer seems to be a scam artist from all the news articles I've read. And the girls are being cancelled because they seem to side with a criminal and sue their benefactor instead.

I‘ll always remember hearing boombayah for the first time, I was utterly surprised by how impactful and popular they got so early. the fact that so many idol still cover songs from groups like snsd, they’re just so impactful to fan and idols alike. girl groups will always be hated, favoured, liked, criticised and strictly commented on, but no one can replace the kpop girl group magic.
I can tell as a boy from RV to Izone to Fromis to Le sserafim to IVE,every GG has made me so happy and has kept me tightly in the kpop scene.
They made me understand the real meaning of not just pretty girls but pretty music too.
I feel like girl groups right now are really carrying the kpop industry. Yes, boy group songs are enjoyable but groups like billlie, fifty fifty, kiss of life, Aespa and more are really rising as artists recently, and I’m happy more people are tuning to nugu groups and trying to Stan more girl groups. Honestly I’m hoping that the girl groups will continue to carry as I know they will!
believe it or not, newjeans introduce me with kpop scene. i was just a 27yo regular guy until one of my coworker played Hurt, then the rabbit hole started. i was jamming to hype boy and attention, sing to ditto on my way to work. now lesserafim, aespa, red velvet, XG and 50/50 are in my playlist thanks to newjeans. and funny enough, almost everyone i know who doesnt listen to kpop in regular, actually knows and listen to newjeans. ps Get Up was my first album i bought online😂

@@foodeliveries1661they count themselves as a global groups, and their main market is western/K-pop audiences and America , so they promote in Korea to help them become more global and known, they can’t suddenly promote in America and expect to have fame and nobody American unless their into anime really listen to J pop so promoting in japan wouldn’t help them get their name across either so therefore they promote in Korea as K-pop also has a global audience. All xg members study Korean and korean culture, and there ceo is also half Korean. Hope this helps 😄

I’m Black and the reason why I love XG is because they aren’t using Black culture as a concept like most Kpop groups have done. These girls have all grown up on Black artists like Destiny’s Child, Aaliyah, TLC, Michael Jackson, and so many more. These girls are actually knowledgeable on both RnB and HipHop. And they have always given their respects to the Black artists who they are inspired by. What I don’t like is how some people are trying to gatekeep and make RnB and HipHop inclusive to only Black people, when music should universal. But I do get the criticism of them wearing cornrow and such. One of the members had told them to stop giving them to her, but the company didn’t listen. But, I genuinely see it more as appreciation than appropriation if I’m being honest.

I agree, now the hairstyles are the only thing that kind of leave a bad taste in my mouth but they seem to genuinely be passionate abt R&B/Hip Hop and if that’s the music they wanna make then, who are we to stop them 🤷🏾♀️ also for the blaccent whenever I listen to music in foreign languages and were to make music in the those foreign languages I tend to replicate the accent of the artist out of habit, while it may seem cringy to some people I think that is the case here.

I feel like they’re one of the only kpop/jpop/gg to actually do hip hop and r&b justice. i have never felt like they are out here trying to appropriate our culture but they do show a great appreciation for it! Listening to their song relay, most of the songs were black songs that immediately came to their mind to sing and they show they have grown up listening to the music. i actually appreciate how much they love it and i hope they can open up the minds of fans who are typically closed off to these kinds of music
Kpop girl groups honestly make me love being a girl sm like they are just so incredibly inspirational and beautiful literally and figuratively the messages and and images they produce are so uplifting like I listen to Queencard and feel like the hottest person in the world and Feel Special makes me want to cry and hug my friends basically girl groups just make me remember that I can be so much more than what I believe or expect while at the same time making me feel so understood

Attitude blew me away and its exactly why it's one of my channel intro songs. The production and delivery the girls are bringing is just sooo exciting. Even some 3rd gen Bg's comebacks were underwhelming which says a lot.

i originated as more of a bg stan because i liked covering their dances better (who needs cardio when you have an ateez dance am i right? 😂) , but recently ggs have been EATING THIS SHIT UP and crawling up my ult list. most of my stan list is ggs now because they’re so diverse and it’s impossible to stan just one of them. how could you possibly pick between new jeans, ive or le sserafim for example? they sound SO different from each other and they’re all absolutely eating, and i love being in the era of fourth gen gg kpop because they’re really expanding the industry rn and you can tell that there’s so much passion coming from them.

Girl groups have quickly become so marketable now because of the rise of 4th gen girl groups following the popular 3rd gen girl groups. Girls Generation may have been a 2nd Gen group but we got a redebut of an ACTUAL…LITERAL, girls generation for 4th gen. People are going to be able to name 4th gen girl groups off the top of their heads than 4th gen boy groups that didn’t come from the big 3/Hybe. We’ve gotten so many great girl group from big and small companies for 4th gen

I've made myself attempt to seek out every kpop girlie releasing this year and listen to their whole release, not just their title track, and something I've noticed is that even with a few stinkers, there's a lot of hidden gems this year. Lapillus for example had another lapoopoo title track but the bsides absolutely slayed a shocking amount. There were at least three rocking doll songs from this year, and all of which were better than a few really mainstream ones. My favorite release didn't come from my favorite group (fromis girls are in 2nd), but from a group I discovered just this year, that being cignature's My Little Aurora. There's a little something for everyone in almost all the releases from girl groups and soloists this year and there's still more insanity to come.

This is why I love kpop girl groups like way above anything, the music is just so genuinely good! Like every sub-genre every concept it’s just so good
i’m a VERY casual girl group listener (unless it’s aespa) but honestly ggs are awesome! i liked the beginning part where u showed some more unknown groups, they sound really good and i’ll definitely be checking them out soon! awesome video

Another thing that I want to point out is that XG didnt come from a small company. XGALX is a subsidiary of Avex which is probably one of the biggest music company in japan. Historically they have managed some of the biggest dance artist there, divas like Namie Amuro, Ayumi Hamasaki or Koda Kumi once are like the norm in j-music industry. Though not as massive as kpop, back in the 90's jpop is the thing in Asia. At that time jpop was very heavily inspired by hiphop and american music, and then 1st gen kpop happen. And I think Avex is probably one of the first company that constantly works with korean artists. In avex they also have a lot of western-sounding artists like FEMM and FAKY. But the thing is japanese music industry is far more diverse and unpredictable than kpop, a lot of Avex group are still struggling. J-music always have a bigger portion of relateable artist, so their hitmaker is usually a singer-songwriter or bands. While performance artist are slowly fading bcs the market are already filled by kpop. The making of XG is actually not strage at all, they still trained in japan, only the artistic production are made in korea. And you know just how big kpop production team is, they also have a lot of foreign songwriters, choreographer etc.
Very impressed with your thought out presentation (and thick English accent always adds a degree of authority, like a BBC documentary) and your sense of humor is spot on (intro to Aespa had me rolling). I'm a 61 year old musician who stumbled into Kpop about three years ago (though had been into the Jrock and Japanese experimental stuff for a very long time). First through Dream Catcher (as my old rocker senses found something to glom on with them first) but I really couldn't grasp the rest (and still don't dig the BG's, though Stray Kids have their moments).
Then one day I saw the video to Lion and was blown away (how appropriately you began the (G)I-Dle section with it). it just impacted me from so many angles, and as a drummer I loved how they arranged it (the Queendom performance blew me away). Then Oh My God and all of I Burn and, well I found myself hooked (saw them last year in NYC, and I hardly ever see bands anymore). Had to look up what "Stanning" was but now my doctor says I can't shake it. Have finally figured out that I-Dle is really a group of comediennes playing as Kpop idols (kindof a Korean version of The Monkeys, who actually got pretty rebellious and independent as well). And K/DA is my official "working in garage" song list (Boomer gotta fix his Jeep now and then).
From them I expanded and have now come to the conclusion that 4th Gen GGs are the last great expression of human creativity before the all consuming Kpopalypse arrives (as it seems to be heralded in every other catastrophe themed video)! Or something like that. LS is like the progeny of I-Dle stretching out their wings to new territories (though they should do another version of Eve, Psyche..., cause 18 is just not enough). Ive is the group I hate having to figure out what's after like. Aespa is channeling Nine Inch Nails taking their kid sisters to a rave. And don't you EVER mess with my mascara! I refuse to discuss the bunnies. Especially when Hanni and Danielle start arguing in Aussie accents so thick I need subtitles! Or that one who looks like a cat. Too hypnotic.
I'm surprised though you didn't include NMIXX. Probably the best harmonies I've heard from ANY act (like having two sets of Andrews Sisters for a pajama party) although they do sometimes suffer from the "too many musical styles in three minutes" syndrome. Lilly is literally an insanely good vocalist (even with my Yuqi bias-who I think is turning into a New Yawker by the way). 4th Gen's embrace of more foreign singers makes Kpop more of an international sound, Apop as some have called it.
So yes, thankyou girl groups! Didn't think I'd say that a few years ago but now I'm hooked- line, sinker and boat.

this reminds me of the whole ‘barbie is overhyped’ argument; it’s more than being objective and writing constructive criticisms which is why most people appreciate it nevertheless (haven’t watched it so please no spoiler 💀). barbie in the big screens is reminiscing which makes it subjective since it has a very personal intake-even if you didn’t own a barbie doll when you were young, barbie is EVERYWHERE. barbie is the fictional figure of childhood whom we got all the inspirations from. that’s the same thing with girl groups-they’re key figures of our childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. they’re EVERYWHERE and we appreciate them because they inspire us. so if you feel like singing your heart out, dance until you don’t have energy left, or you just want to stare at the ceiling whilst listening to their songs-do whatever you feel like, just go for it.

god, this video is so good. you explained everything so well, and included all my favourite groups. i have always been more drawn to gg's than bg's, could never really explain why tho, and i feel like this video just did. not to say bg's are bad, because theyre amazing, and have contributed so much to kpop. but you get my point. thank you girl groups, and thank you for making this video! after all the unnecessary negative videos ive come across when looking at k-tube content, this is refreshing. 🎷🐛

Small entertainment companies getting to the level of the big 3 and satelliting their girl groups to summits since their debut is the BEST thing that could happen to the K-pop industry.

I can't believe I watched this video and the Barbie movie in the same day. Hearing the commentary makes me feel like kpop isn't just a cringe music genre. The music I listen to matters. I can cry listening to Ditto because it reminds me of studying for finals while it's raining, I can dance in my bedroom listening to POP! because I just can't be sad after listening to that song. I can learn to accept myself through songs from the likes of LE SSERAFIM and (G)I-dle because that's what it was made for. I truly feel grateful for these girls and everything that goes into these songs because of the way they make me feel.

ok im late but the amount of gratitude you showed in this video gave me such a better outlook on everything. we seriously have no idea how lucky we are to be in this age of music and when you learn to just appreciate it, everything changes. Sometimes I can’t believe what I’m hearing on social medias, I often come across the worst takes ever about girl groups and I’m not even talking about fanwars…
People should open their eyes and ears sometimes because we should be all thankful to be able to witness this era of Kpop girl group music together, like please just make the little effort to go listen to some albums released this year and chances are it’s very unlikely you’ll regret it. And even if X group or song is not your taste, it’s ok, please don’t spread pointless hate and let’s appreciate the other dozens of groups you can listen to!
