Just wanna say that I'm about halfway through this video and can't wait for the last part!!! FYI after killing the toll collector, if you go down and loot her body there is a locked door in front of her. Unlock the door and go inside. There is a switch on the wall inside that room. If you activate the switch the bookcases will open to reveal another room. I found a soul coin on the table inside that room.
@@CaseyBarcus look up builds for her is the best bet, but in short you’ll want her class to be cleric sub class-light cleric. By the time you get to act 2 you should have her spell sprit guardians and that combined with radiance of dawn which she will have from the start will carry most encounters in act 2. Those are both aoe spells that deal radiant damage which a lot of enemies in act 2 are vulnerable to
Respec'ing Shadow heart to Light Cleric is a big power increase. Warding Flare is a free reaction debuff on one enemy attk..plus Fireball ! Precast Spirit Guardians just before initiating combat , next turn move close to the enemy to hit them with it , then bonus action cast Fireball & Spiritual Weapon .. I like to have a skeletal archer or two summoned prior to bigger battles..
Remember to go into the Cellar under Last Light Inn . There you will find the Coruscation Ring for Shadowheart . No idea idea why he forgot to mention that in the guide .
This guides have like for many others saved BG3 for me. Im a dnd veteran, but I just lack the time to figure out the best order of things, and I was making quite a mess of my act one and not having very much fun. Having this video as a guiding hand of we should go here first then there and so on, and making me notice details I would otherwise miss is huge. Even for someone who isnt following your play throught all that closely

Honestly - SAME! I stumbled upon the Elden Ring playthroughs trying to figure stuff out as a new player, and was suggested Shatter’s BG3 videos because of it. I had never heard of BG and never had an interest in D&D, but now I’ve discovered one of the most amazing games out there!
These BG3 walk through's have been great. I've never been a video game player, but have played tabletop D&D for years. BG3 is the first video game I'm playing and it helps to have something of an order to the chaos. While I'm not following every single tactic, I do find following the basic quest order and suggestions really helpful. Otherwise, I'm just running around and it gets a little confusing about where to go and when. Your videos are making my experience more fun.
A couple of points concerning honor mode act 2: 1: To save Isobel at last light, Sanctuary and feign death guarantees she'll survive. Also: keeping a strong melee character near Alfira is recommended to control the rest of the fight. 2: The Eversight ring is located in the House of Healing morgue. For some party compositions the blind immunity granted is a must-have. 3: Finishing off all enemies in Moonrise PRIOR to running the Gauntlet of Shar makes assaulting with Jaheira much less risky. And finally: Durge mains playing good aligned must prepare for saving throws to avoid murdering their romantic interest during one of the final long rests in this act.
Amazing guide, you helped me finish Elden Ring as well Baldur's Gate 3 as of now, great work man!!! Also if anyone is facing an issue with Shadowhart after talking with Nightsong, where she is unable to drop any times at all. You just have to unequip the "Spear of Night" before talking to Nightsong, and then after it should work, or so it did for me. Cheers!!!
Thank you. For someone who wants to just play here and there for a few hours and have some fun and chill, this game can be annoying. Some of the things you have to do, like talk to this person first, grab this book and keep it on your person, pick this dialogue, etc... can be FREAKING ANNOYING to try and get right. I played through Act 1 without any UA-cam help and felt like I must have missed some things because I was barely level 5 after it all and didn't get why people were all over this game as being the best ever. Then I watched your video and was like... DAMN!!! I missed a LOT. I was doing well with inspiration and relationships due to common sense, but I missed a LOT of good items, did things in a weird order that basically messed up encounters. It's honestly sad that all the programming couldn't adapt to doing things in a different order, but it's a game and it's based on programming / events / etc. I get it. I did some OOP in my time, so I understand Objects, Sequences, Events, etc. Watching your video casually first and then going through on a new character made all the difference. I even went back to your video a couple of times just to make sure I didn't miss something, but I only watched it casually because I still wanted to be surprised. Your walk-through / guide was a lot of help. Thinking you could have charged $ for this. Cheers.
I do that as well! So far the guides for Act 1 and Act 2 have shown me _a lot_ of things I'd have missed, or as you mentioned would have been done out of the correct order. In fact I just completed the last big battle for Act 2 and before heading to Act 3 re-reviewed the end of this video. Once again I'd forgotten something (to rest, several times, to advance the companions storylines). So I'm off to do that now!
I agree with everything you said. But if by OOP you’re referring to Object Oriented Programming, idk how that has any relevance here whatsoever lol. Like, at all. Any game of this size would surely be written in OOP, but like… so would a roguelike action game, or an arcade shooter, or a Bethesda game, or a sports game, or a horror game, etc. That wouldn’t have any bearing on the gameplay structure of the game, right? (Maybe your acronym doesn’t mean object oriented programming and I’m just dumb. But you mentioned programming right before so I was like hmmm I wonder?) Thanks to BG3 and your guide I now roll dice every morning on whether I should call out from work and get more exploring done. This has roll difficulty of 30 and is hard for me to attain when all my proficiencies are disabled till 2hrs have passed from a long rest.
These walkthroughs are amazing especially for subsequent play throughout. I especially love the concentration on buffs and strategizing long rests, “morning routines.” It’s made such a difference in my experience and made it so much more fun. I use different characters/builds but your recommendations are universal and my players feel so much more powerful and streamlined. Fun fact for anyone curious I did it intentionally but Shatter did it unironically if you want to romance Karlach and Shadowheart fully (is slightly buggy but mine worked rather well) if you just don't talk to Shadowheart after romancing Karlach where shadow breaks up with you and go into the shadowfell she should still address you as a romance and you can play the rest of the game as such, and both of the dialogues saying you picked them over everyone else popped up and worked all the way into act 3 and the ending played out as if I romanced both but alas beware of any bugginess you never know, am on console before any asks about mods, my brother is on PC and I walk in and see whole new races and classes and just walk out in vanilla sadness, godspeed true souls
Thank you for going over what the consequences for Shadowheart are at 1:03:00. I let her choose on her own and she chose to spare Nightsong, which I was SUPER surprised about! I've been using your guide sparingly, so I didn't realize I needed to save the prisoners before doing this part. Re-listening because this is so useful. Two notes - At the Sharan Alters, the +5 Int and Wisdom will let Wizards and Clerics respectively prepare extra spells. While the stat boosts will go away with your next long rest, the extra prepared spells will hang around until your next long rest. The Drinking Contest - Clerics can pray to get advantage on their saves and can cast Resistance for +1d4 to those saves. Not a bad choice if you don’t have a Sleight of Hand character as your face.

My one major complaint about the game is going through it completely blind or just without researching for hours has a huge risk of just plowing through the main story and missing key side quests. I’m literally going around for hours trying to find side quests and encounters cause I’m nervous that i’ll get locked out of quests which the game doesn’t give you enough direction or warning for in my opinion. I don’t think i’d even be able to get the outcomes i want or a somewhat positive one without researching.
I would say that it's a good way to build a community of like minded gamers. Many agree so we share our stories and eventually can have the greatest playthrough. Business wise smart, and player base smart.
On my first playthrough I went at it blindly, and, I missed some points here and there, and actually skipped the whole of the mountain pass, and I also failed to save both barcus wroot at the windmill and the dude in the middle of the mushrooms in the underdark, but I also had a blast trying to figure everything out by myself. I obviously locked myself out of a lot of content, but, this game was totally prepared for it, and I urge you to try it for yourself at least once. Build a new character, one that has a different race than the ones you played already and also pick a different class, and try playing as if you were said character… during act 1, try to earnestly find a cure, so don’t sidetrack too much trying to “find” side quests and also pick only one path to the shadowlands, and pick the one you think that your party would’ve chosen. As for act 2, try to make your way into the moonrise towers as if trying to really get the parasite out, and finally in act 3, since the news is out that you don’t really need to rush things by now, you can take it easy and try the quests out and when you feel you are ready, try the last fight. Do this and I assure you that you’re gonna love your playthrough
Not to be rude but that is how you are supposed to play the game. You can always save and reload your files. When I completed my ACT 1 for the first time I had 130+ hrs of playthrough because of exploring and trying to figure out the optimal path. Did I succeed? No, I still missed few NPCs whom I need to save but just to get approval I led them to their demise. Did I enjoy? Obviously I did

A buddy of mine and I are doing a honor mode play through, and I’ve got to say I’ve loved coming to these videos to come and make sure we’ve got everything possible from story to items and combats taken care of. (We’re pretty min/max I’d say) and we got to Act 2 yesterday and have completed almost all combats outside of moonrise towers, gauntlet of shar, art caullagh, and Oliver all the while being on a single long rest. With your guide of how to make encounters seamless and dialogue we’ve been extremely lucky. Shadowheart is practically our only caster and we’ve taken advantage of multiple healers and buffers in camp to make each long rest extend for hours. Just wanted to say thank you for the detailed guides on items, encounters and recommendations on dialogue as it has helped us immensely
Thank you for your helpful guides I really learned a lot and had fun with them, also in Ketheric final battle you can actually skip the first battle phase if you have a [persuasion] check that says: “I was ready to show you mercy before. It’s still not too late. You can repent”. and after the cutscene you will automatically go to the second phase battling the skeleton boss, and I think all that toggles if you read the letters from his wife in his room, then after freeing Aylin the Nightsong and go to the first battle with Ketheric choose the [persuasion] check: “Melodia wanted more for you than this, Ketheric. Stop, and you may redeem yourself yet”. After that say: “Melodia is waiting for you in the afterlife. Return to Selûne, and your souls will be reunited”. lastly say: “Come quietly, and you’ll be spared”. And that’s it good luck
i'm new to Baldur's gate 3 and played all the way to the start of act 3 , ofc i always play my games modded even new ones , and unfortunately game crashes and save almost corrupted, but your guides made my new extremely less modded playthrough go so fast already made it to act 3 again. keep up the good work and cant wait for act 3 guide

A few observations off the bat: 1) Knocking Minthara out with non-lethal during the battle of the Grove does not make her show up at moonrise. 2) Dark urge characters might be interested in knowing that Alfira (and related quests/rewards) are available as long as you make her survive act 1, 3) I sure hope Karlack gets the final blow on Gortash in act 3. An important note during the Isobel/Marcus fight - if you're going for the Leave No One Behind achievement it's important to keep an eye on all of the tieflings in the inn as well as Isobel - if any of them are killed during the fight it will nullify the achievement. I had a Winged Horror pop in and one shot Cerys and had to reload, and Alfira looks equally squishy.
Yea I had to split my squad. (Makes sense for role playing reasons too. Had karlach, wyll, and shadowheart be down stairs mingling with the tie flings, while my sorc Mc go upstairs.) Was tough but we all survived
For those who are having trouble summoning Lyrthindor, after a few tests I discovered that, regardless of whether you let the rats escape alive in exchange for the treasure or choose to kill them, you need to start the dialog “You're no ordinary rat, are you? None of you are.”, then ”Are you telling me you're one person turned into a swarm of rats? How can that be?” and finally ”I don't usually bargain with rats. If I let you live, what's in it for me?”. After that, you can choose to kill them or leave them alive and then you'll be able to find Lyrthindor. PS: I would choose the option of saving them, since you can either get the treasure and fight Lyrthindor.
During my playthrough, I did everything imaginable except the Moonrise Towers part. I never went there until the end. When I did, everyone was there for the big battle and the captured tieflings were nowhere to be found. I somehow forgot about them until this video... You can imagine my disappointment. In my mind, I was thinking that they would be alive and locked up. Guess who is the idiot thats gonna go back thousands of saves to do it properly now. Wish me luck bois
Rats glitched for me after doing everything in Shar temple. I reloaded and went straight to the rats combat location and killed the guy, but this broke the Yurgir encounter. So I redid it a third time. Going straight to the rats combat location to make sure they were there. Then ran back for the Balthazar encounters. Before running towards Yurgir encounter I saved, then made sure rats were still at final location. Then reloaded and went for Yurgir encounter. I did the rats encounter immediately after then headed back to the 3 trials, then library encounter. Going back and checking each time wasn't great but it ended up working.

I really enjoy your walk-throughs. I use them to check on things I might have missed. You definitely follow a different order than I usually do. I am about to hit Moonrise after having taken the Patch 4 knock Minthara out option to try to recruit her on a “good” play through. I will be very interested to see how you covered the towers themselves.
Yeah unfortunately since we killed Minthara in act 1 (knocking her out/getting her on a good playthrough was not possible at the time) this guide does not cover saving her from Moonrise Towers. It’s funny because early on you could save her/get her in a good playthrough. Then they patched that out. Now, they (maybe unintentionally) patched it back in. Will be curious to see if they will leave it long term. If they do, I may have to go back and cover it separately. Cheers!
This video has been super helpful as I make my way through honor mode. I'm not sure if anyone else has pointed it out, but for the leap of faith trial, you can click on the final platform (where the umbral gem is) and you will auto run the path. No need for any potions in this case. Thanks again for the helpful video! :)
Tricked the goblin to think I was on his side, used the Spider Lyre I saved when I killed Minthara, summoned the drider with the Lyre. Before we set off for moon rise, I put the grymforge explosion barrel in front of everyone and blew them all away. The drider didnt go down but I took a chunk from him. He also didnt aggro on me for some reason. I set an oil barrel next to drider and blew it up, then he aggro'd on me. Killed him in 3 turns. Let the pixie go and got the bell.
Thank you so much for the guides. I just finished Act 1 and am now going into Act 2. But I notice that after the long rest between the acts you still have a soul coin to give to Karlach. I picked up all 5 soul coins in Act 1 but am one short going into Act 2. I have not rested more than you did so I am a bit lost where I am missing one.

There are 2 different Infernal metals: Infernal Iron and Infernal Alloy: a)The Infernal Iron is for fixing Karlach. b)The alloy is obtained from Stonemason Kirth in Grymforge. How to obtain all three Flawed armor pieces from one Infernal *Alloy*: - When you visit Dammon in Act 2 at Last Light Inn only have the infernal alloy in your inventory. - Speak to Dammon and choose option "I found this metal in a place called Grymforge - what do you make of it?". He will craft the armor. - Speak to him again and choose the same option. He will now craft the Helm. - Speak to him once more with the same option and u will get the gloves. - ALL three pieces crafted from ONE Infernal Alloy. [Patch 5 1/2/2024 tested]

Alright sounds good. You there are some specific things that need to be done in Act 3 for the Dark Urge achievements. But I will mention those in the guide series and hopefully I have Act 3 done within another week or so. It is definitely the biggest part of the game.

First, thanks for the vid- lots of great info here that really made things easier for me. However- 24:50 Not sure if this has been addressed in another comment or not (also- playing this on XBox in August 2024 so patch updates might account for this) but there is an easier way to get to this area: on the first floor near the Zhentarim trader there is a ladder in a corner that leads to the rafters. You can do 2 things while up there: discover the mass of flesh hidden in the wall that had tendrils on the floor (not far from the kitchen) that were making the 'Suspicious Noise' AND find some roots that lead to Ketheric's late wife's room. This really eliminates the need for a high Strength character + Potion of Glorious Vaulting. Thankfully my Ranger had completed the Shrine of Shar tests & had the buffs to handle the undead watchdog.
Can't wait to buy this game sometime next year. I want a physical copy of the game, not a digital. I just picked up a ps5 last week, so I'm really looking forward to getting into this game.
One thing I've noticed is that the Mol chess scene is no longer a thing. Reading on Reddit it was possibly changed / or some think it's a bug and is yet to be fixed.

Even though I have done Act 2, all the darkness makes me nervious so I always try to do it fast and I always miss a lot of content... this is why I'm checking guides to see what I'm missing!
Amazing guide, I've had the game sitting in my steam library for weeks when I came across the Act 1 guide. After my first playthrough got stuck on the Goblin camp at lvl 4 your act 1 helped me so much. And here I am watching your guide on first full playthrough and its making it a breeze and yet so damn fun. Karlach as a monk with her mega leaps had me cackling everytime I have seen you do it that I had to respecc her right away. I did find something of interest in the Mason guild basement. On the backwall is the a keyslot for the key that Mattis gives earlier. It opens with a larger room with a couple chest that have useful potions and spell scrolls. There is also a quick shadow encounter in the main hall and there is a Helmet of Arcane Acuity in an ornate chest towards the back. Besides that i love watching your videos as I am going through the game incase I miss anything. Keep up the awesome content so players like myself who tend to rush through the game get to enjoy all the amazing and hidden details! Simply bravo 👏
SPOILER the part near 55:00 with the rat problem is bugged on PS5 but this worked for me When you fight the rats near the start of this area kill atleast 3 rats not 1 or 2 KILL 3 exactly... When you talk to the rats with animal speaking and agree to what he says, IF he walks to the other side and immediately turns and starts walking to where you just fought kill him to [thats where it glitched for me] when you go to the fast travel point and see a bunch of rats come out and start heading down it should work
Your tips are amazing man, thanks so much. I tried playing through this too quickly. Got to the 2nd Ketheric fight as a level 6 with no means to level up sufficiently to actually do it. I'm sure some absolute badasses can handle the game as level 5 or 6, but I definitely wasn't up to the task. Started again and used your guide. Has made it an entirely more enjoyable experience, and I'm nearly going onto act 2 at level 7. Using a similar build guide to what you have recommended. Really looking forward to seeing Baldurs Gate city. Had the original first game as a kid so I should have known better to explore more 😂. They really don't hold your hand at all in this game.
I don't know if this will help anyone, but if you're having trouble getting Astarion's quest to update when speaking to Raphael, make sure you've done enough long rests (I personally had to comfort him that I wouldn't make him suck anymore..) - I had Astarion in my party, I did the dialogue until I could select "Anything else I need to know" after the two skill checks - Don't ask if he's afraid or he'll vanish. If you select the aforementioned option he'll offer to read the scars and you'll get your update. I had to fight with this for about 45mins to an hour testing things.
One effective way to deal with countless hordes of rats is to make every one throw an alchemist fire in a semi circle with your backs on the cragged rock. It can save you a 3rd level spell slot for Shadowheart.

Wow thanks so much for this guide! I did exploring on my own, but there were definitely still places I didn't know existed here. Would you be able to share the gear list for Karlach here? Mainly interested in increasing her flurry of blows damage.
Tip for the Githyanki ambush by the road to Baldur's Gate, if you have a good enough jumper with enhanced jump, feather fall, and sneak active, they can jump behind the ambush and unlock the fast travel spot. Can also freely jump up and down to place some explosive barrels and finish the encounter before it starts!
First, i would like to say thank you for making a video this in depth and informative. I feel that you could showcase your builds for the party members a little more in the videos tho.
There is now an achievement added for completing the game in Honour mode, is there going to be some kind of cheese tactic for that or completely separate playthrough will be required? Also keep up the work! Been following the Elden Ring videos, helped a lot.
Honour mode is tough because paths can divert permanently and in big ways depending on failed dice rolls. I would still say that the builds and exploration pathing shown in this guide series is extremely useful to avoid dying in honour mode. However, act 1 before level 5 can be perilous in Honour Mode, and so that might be where certain objectives need to wait or be approached a lot more carefully. Bosses like the Owlbear and the Phase Spider matriarch can easily cause a Total party kill with their legendary actions. I may make a tips video for honour mode or at least cover the different bosses. That will have to wait to see if I have time. I am anticipating the launch of Elden Rings new expansion in the next couple of months.

UPDATE #1: If you are playing in Honour Mode, the Restoration Device in the Mind Flayer Colony location can only be used a single time, so plan accordingly.
UPDATE #2: there is a known issue where the rats do not appear at the bottom of the Shar’s Gauntlet. It seems to happen more often after Yurgir has been dealt with. This is not a huge deal and will only result in a missed mini-boss encounter with some minor magic items.

Sidenote: This isn't usually my style of game, and I probably wouldn't have made it too far if it wasn't for your guides. Just listening and following along helped me grasp a huge chunk of the mechanics fairly quickly. It went from an 'eh' game to a 'legendary' game for me about halfway through Act 1. :)
Honestly, your content made me grasp so much more of a game I almost refunded, cause I was absolutely oblivious to DnD and you were solely the reason of me being bathed in this legendary game. FYI after killing the toll collector, if you go down and loot her body there is a locked door in front of her. Unlock the door and go inside. There is a switch on the wall inside that room. If you activate the switch the bookcases will open to reveal another room. I found a soul coin on the table inside that room.
Yeah, and DO NOT attempt to open that second big vault in the back of one of the rooms, it's a d30 roll to open but it's literally empty...
Shadowheart as a light cleric is the MVP for act two. She can pretty much solo the entire act by herself even for newer players
Howww? I'm a noob player so I feel like I either messed up her build or am not using her properly.
@@CaseyBarcus look up builds for her is the best bet, but in short you’ll want her class to be cleric sub class-light cleric. By the time you get to act 2 you should have her spell sprit guardians and that combined with radiance of dawn which she will have from the start will carry most encounters in act 2. Those are both aoe spells that deal radiant damage which a lot of enemies in act 2 are vulnerable to
Respec'ing Shadow heart to Light Cleric is a big power increase. Warding Flare is a free reaction debuff on one enemy attk..plus Fireball !
Precast Spirit Guardians just before initiating combat , next turn move close to the enemy to hit them with it , then bonus action cast Fireball & Spiritual Weapon ..
I like to have a skeletal archer or two summoned prior to bigger battles..
Remember to go into the Cellar under Last Light Inn . There you will find the Coruscation Ring for Shadowheart . No idea idea why he forgot to mention that in the guide .

Honestly - SAME! I stumbled upon the Elden Ring playthroughs trying to figure stuff out as a new player, and was suggested Shatter’s BG3 videos because of it. I had never heard of BG and never had an interest in D&D, but now I’ve discovered one of the most amazing games out there!
These BG3 walk through's have been great. I've never been a video game player, but have played tabletop D&D for years. BG3 is the first video game I'm playing and it helps to have something of an order to the chaos. While I'm not following every single tactic, I do find following the basic quest order and suggestions really helpful. Otherwise, I'm just running around and it gets a little confusing about where to go and when. Your videos are making my experience more fun.
A couple of points concerning honor mode act 2:
1: To save Isobel at last light, Sanctuary and feign death guarantees she'll survive. Also: keeping a strong melee character near Alfira is recommended to control the rest of the fight.
2: The Eversight ring is located in the House of Healing morgue. For some party compositions the blind immunity granted is a must-have.
3: Finishing off all enemies in Moonrise PRIOR to running the Gauntlet of Shar makes assaulting with Jaheira much less risky.
And finally: Durge mains playing good aligned must prepare for saving throws to avoid murdering their romantic interest during one of the final long rests in this act.

Also if anyone is facing an issue with Shadowhart after talking with Nightsong, where she is unable to drop any times at all. You just have to unequip the "Spear of Night" before talking to Nightsong, and then after it should work, or so it did for me. Cheers!!!
Thank you. For someone who wants to just play here and there for a few hours and have some fun and chill, this game can be annoying. Some of the things you have to do, like talk to this person first, grab this book and keep it on your person, pick this dialogue, etc... can be FREAKING ANNOYING to try and get right. I played through Act 1 without any UA-cam help and felt like I must have missed some things because I was barely level 5 after it all and didn't get why people were all over this game as being the best ever. Then I watched your video and was like... DAMN!!! I missed a LOT. I was doing well with inspiration and relationships due to common sense, but I missed a LOT of good items, did things in a weird order that basically messed up encounters. It's honestly sad that all the programming couldn't adapt to doing things in a different order, but it's a game and it's based on programming / events / etc. I get it. I did some OOP in my time, so I understand Objects, Sequences, Events, etc. Watching your video casually first and then going through on a new character made all the difference. I even went back to your video a couple of times just to make sure I didn't miss something, but I only watched it casually because I still wanted to be surprised.
Your walk-through / guide was a lot of help. Thinking you could have charged $ for this.

I do that as well! So far the guides for Act 1 and Act 2 have shown me _a lot_ of things I'd have missed, or as you mentioned would have been done out of the correct order.
In fact I just completed the last big battle for Act 2 and before heading to Act 3 re-reviewed the end of this video. Once again I'd forgotten something (to rest, several times, to advance the companions storylines). So I'm off to do that now!
I agree with everything you said. But if by OOP you’re referring to Object Oriented Programming, idk how that has any relevance here whatsoever lol. Like, at all. Any game of this size would surely be written in OOP, but like… so would a roguelike action game, or an arcade shooter, or a Bethesda game, or a sports game, or a horror game, etc. That wouldn’t have any bearing on the gameplay structure of the game, right?
(Maybe your acronym doesn’t mean object oriented programming and I’m just dumb. But you mentioned programming right before so I was like hmmm I wonder?)

Thanks to BG3 and your guide I now roll dice every morning on whether I should call out from work and get more exploring done. This has roll difficulty of 30 and is hard for me to attain when all my proficiencies are disabled till 2hrs have passed from a long rest.

These walkthroughs are amazing especially for subsequent play throughout. I especially love the concentration on buffs and strategizing long rests, “morning routines.” It’s made such a difference in my experience and made it so much more fun. I use different characters/builds but your recommendations are universal and my players feel so much more powerful and streamlined. Thank you so so much for all the time and effort you put into this entire guide!
Fun fact for anyone curious I did it intentionally but Shatter did it unironically if you want to romance Karlach and Shadowheart fully (is slightly buggy but mine worked rather well) if you just don't talk to Shadowheart after romancing Karlach where shadow breaks up with you and go into the shadowfell she should still address you as a romance and you can play the rest of the game as such, and both of the dialogues saying you picked them over everyone else popped up and worked all the way into act 3 and the ending played out as if I romanced both but alas beware of any bugginess you never know, am on console before any asks about mods, my brother is on PC and I walk in and see whole new races and classes and just walk out in vanilla sadness, godspeed true souls
Thank you for going over what the consequences for Shadowheart are at 1:03:00. I let her choose on her own and she chose to spare Nightsong, which I was SUPER surprised about! I've been using your guide sparingly, so I didn't realize I needed to save the prisoners before doing this part. I'm gonna go back and save the prisoners, then redo this part, but I didn't know if I should have encouraged her to make a different choice. I guess not! Thank you so very much!

Re-listening because this is so useful. Two notes -
At the Sharan Alters, the +5 Int and Wisdom will let Wizards and Clerics respectively prepare extra spells. While the stat boosts will go away with your next long rest, the extra prepared spells will hang around until your next long rest.
The Drinking Contest - Clerics can pray to get advantage on their saves and can cast Resistance for +1d4 to those saves. Not a bad choice if you don’t have a Sleight of Hand character as your face.
Slight typo above. The stat boosts go away at a long rest. The extra spells hang around until you level up. It’s a great way of spending a chunk of act two with a few extra spells prepared.

My one major complaint about the game is going through it completely blind or just without researching for hours has a huge risk of just plowing through the main story and missing key side quests. I’m literally going around for hours trying to find side quests and encounters cause I’m nervous that i’ll get locked out of quests which the game doesn’t give you enough direction or warning for in my opinion. I don’t think i’d even be able to get the outcomes i want or a somewhat positive one without researching.
This. I want to play the game blind but I would've cancelled out many quests playing my way..
I would say that it's a good way to build a community of like minded gamers. Many agree so we share our stories and eventually can have the greatest playthrough. Business wise smart, and player base smart.
On my first playthrough I went at it blindly, and, I missed some points here and there, and actually skipped the whole of the mountain pass, and I also failed to save both barcus wroot at the windmill and the dude in the middle of the mushrooms in the underdark, but I also had a blast trying to figure everything out by myself. I obviously locked myself out of a lot of content, but, this game was totally prepared for it, and I urge you to try it for yourself at least once.
Build a new character, one that has a different race than the ones you played already and also pick a different class, and try playing as if you were said character… during act 1, try to earnestly find a cure, so don’t sidetrack too much trying to “find” side quests and also pick only one path to the shadowlands, and pick the one you think that your party would’ve chosen.
As for act 2, try to make your way into the moonrise towers as if trying to really get the parasite out, and finally in act 3, since the news is out that you don’t really need to rush things by now, you can take it easy and try the quests out and when you feel you are ready, try the last fight.
Do this and I assure you that you’re gonna love your playthrough
Not to be rude but that is how you are supposed to play the game. You can always save and reload your files.
When I completed my ACT 1 for the first time I had 130+ hrs of playthrough because of exploring and trying to figure out the optimal path.
Did I succeed? No, I still missed few NPCs whom I need to save but just to get approval I led them to their demise.
Did I enjoy? Obviously I did

A buddy of mine and I are doing a honor mode play through, and I’ve got to say I’ve loved coming to these videos to come and make sure we’ve got everything possible from story to items and combats taken care of. (We’re pretty min/max I’d say) and we got to Act 2 yesterday and have completed almost all combats outside of moonrise towers, gauntlet of shar, art caullagh, and Oliver all the while being on a single long rest. With your guide of how to make encounters seamless and dialogue we’ve been extremely lucky. Shadowheart is practically our only caster and we’ve taken advantage of multiple healers and buffers in camp to make each long rest extend for hours. Just wanted to say thank you for the detailed guides on items, encounters and recommendations on dialogue as it has helped us immensely
Thank you for your helpful guides I really learned a lot and had fun with them, also in Ketheric final battle you can actually skip the first battle phase if you have a [persuasion] check that says: “I was ready to show you mercy before. It’s still not too late. You can repent”. and after the cutscene you will automatically go to the second phase battling the skeleton boss, and I think all that toggles if you read the letters from his wife in his room, then after freeing Aylin the Nightsong and go to the first battle with Ketheric choose the [persuasion] check: “Melodia wanted more for you than this, Ketheric. Stop, and you may redeem yourself yet”. After that say: “Melodia is waiting for you in the afterlife. Return to Selûne, and your souls will be reunited”. lastly say: “Come quietly, and you’ll be spared”. And that’s it good luck

i'm new to Baldur's gate 3 and played all the way to the start of act 3 , ofc i always play my games modded even new ones , and unfortunately game crashes and save almost corrupted, but your guides made my new extremely less modded playthrough go so fast already made it to act 3 again.

Again congratulations on a superb video. A few observations off the bat: 1) Knocking Minthara out with non-lethal during the battle of the Grove does not make her show up at moonrise. 2) Dark urge characters might be interested in knowing that Alfira (and related quests/rewards) are available as long as you make her survive act 1, 3) I sure hope Karlack gets the final blow on Gortash in act 3. An important note during the Isobel/Marcus fight - if you're going for the Leave No One Behind achievement it's important to keep an eye on all of the tieflings in the inn as well as Isobel - if any of them are killed during the fight it will nullify the achievement. I had a Winged Horror pop in and one shot Cerys and had to reload, and Alfira looks equally squishy.
Yea I had to split my squad. (Makes sense for role playing reasons too. Had karlach, wyll, and shadowheart be down stairs mingling with the tie flings, while my sorc Mc go upstairs.) Was tough but we all survived
For those who are having trouble summoning Lyrthindor, after a few tests I discovered that, regardless of whether you let the rats escape alive in exchange for the treasure or choose to kill them, you need to start the dialog “You're no ordinary rat, are you? None of you are.”, then ”Are you telling me you're one person turned into a swarm of rats? How can that be?” and finally ”I don't usually bargain with rats. If I let you live, what's in it for me?”.
After that, you can choose to kill them or leave them alive and then you'll be able to find Lyrthindor.
PS: I would choose the option of saving them, since you can either get the treasure and fight Lyrthindor.
During my playthrough, I did everything imaginable except the Moonrise Towers part. I never went there until the end. When I did, everyone was there for the big battle and the captured tieflings were nowhere to be found. I somehow forgot about them until this video... You can imagine my disappointment. In my mind, I was thinking that they would be alive and locked up. Guess who is the idiot thats gonna go back thousands of saves to do it properly now. Wish me luck bois

Rats glitched for me after doing everything in Shar temple.
I reloaded and went straight to the rats combat location and killed the guy, but this broke the Yurgir encounter.
So I redid it a third time. Going straight to the rats combat location to make sure they were there. Then ran back for the Balthazar encounters. Before running towards Yurgir encounter I saved, then made sure rats were still at final location. Then reloaded and went for Yurgir encounter. I did the rats encounter immediately after then headed back to the 3 trials, then library encounter.
Going back and checking each time wasn't great but it ended up working.
I have rats ? went back gone cant find them

I really enjoy your walk-throughs. I use them to check on things I might have missed. You definitely follow a different order than I usually do. I am about to hit Moonrise after having taken the Patch 4 knock Minthara out option to try to recruit her on a “good” play through. I will be very interested to see how you covered the towers themselves.
Yeah unfortunately since we killed Minthara in act 1 (knocking her out/getting her on a good playthrough was not possible at the time) this guide does not cover saving her from Moonrise Towers.
It’s funny because early on you could save her/get her in a good playthrough. Then they patched that out.
Now, they (maybe unintentionally) patched it back in. Will be curious to see if they will leave it long term. If they do, I may have to go back and cover it separately.

This video has been super helpful as I make my way through honor mode. I'm not sure if anyone else has pointed it out, but for the leap of faith trial, you can click on the final platform (where the umbral gem is) and you will auto run the path. No need for any potions in this case. Thanks again for the helpful video! :)

Tricked the goblin to think I was on his side, used the Spider Lyre I saved when I killed Minthara, summoned the drider with the Lyre. Before we set off for moon rise, I put the grymforge explosion barrel in front of everyone and blew them all away. The drider didnt go down but I took a chunk from him. He also didnt aggro on me for some reason. I set an oil barrel next to drider and blew it up, then he aggro'd on me. Killed him in 3 turns. Let the pixie go and got the bell.
Nice I simply attacked them after he kills one of the Goblins but that's even easier

I picked up all 5 soul coins in Act 1 but am one short going into Act 2. I have not rested more than you did so I am a bit lost where I am missing one.

There are 2 different Infernal metals: Infernal Iron and Infernal Alloy:
a)The Infernal Iron is for fixing Karlach.
b)The alloy is obtained from Stonemason Kirth in Grymforge.
How to obtain all three Flawed armor pieces from one Infernal *Alloy*:
- When you visit Dammon in Act 2 at Last Light Inn only have the infernal alloy in your inventory.
- Speak to Dammon and choose option "I found this metal in a place called Grymforge - what do you make of it?". He will craft the armor.
- Speak to him again and choose the same option. He will now craft the Helm.
- Speak to him once more with the same option and u will get the gloves.
- ALL three pieces crafted from ONE Infernal Alloy.

Alright sounds good. You there are some specific things that need to be done in Act 3 for the Dark Urge achievements. But I will mention those in the guide series and hopefully I have Act 3 done within another week or so. It is definitely the biggest part of the game.

This walkthrough is hands down the best one out there!
First, thanks for the vid- lots of great info here that really made things easier for me. However- 24:50 Not sure if this has been addressed in another comment or not (also- playing this on XBox in August 2024 so patch updates might account for this) but there is an easier way to get to this area: on the first floor near the Zhentarim trader there is a ladder in a corner that leads to the rafters. You can do 2 things while up there: discover the mass of flesh hidden in the wall that had tendrils on the floor (not far from the kitchen) that were making the 'Suspicious Noise' AND find some roots that lead to Ketheric's late wife's room. This really eliminates the need for a high Strength character + Potion of Glorious Vaulting. Thankfully my Ranger had completed the Shrine of Shar tests & had the buffs to handle the undead watchdog.

One thing I've noticed is that the Mol chess scene is no longer a thing. Reading on Reddit it was possibly changed / or some think it's a bug and is yet to be fixed.

Amazing guide, I've had the game sitting in my steam library for weeks when I came across the Act 1 guide. After my first playthrough got stuck on the Goblin camp at lvl 4 your act 1 helped me so much. And here I am watching your guide on first full playthrough and its making it a breeze and yet so damn fun. Karlach as a monk with her mega leaps had me cackling everytime I have seen you do it that I had to respecc her right away. I did find something of interest in the Mason guild basement. On the backwall is the a keyslot for the key that Mattis gives earlier. It opens with a larger room with a couple chest that have useful potions and spell scrolls. There is also a quick shadow encounter in the main hall and there is a Helmet of Arcane Acuity in an ornate chest towards the back. Besides that i love watching your videos as I am going through the game incase I miss anything. Keep up the awesome content so players like myself who tend to rush through the game get to enjoy all the amazing and hidden details! Simply bravo 👏

the part near 55:00 with the rat problem is bugged on PS5 but this worked for me
When you fight the rats near the start of this area kill atleast 3 rats not 1 or 2 KILL 3 exactly...
When you talk to the rats with animal speaking and agree to what he says,
IF he walks to the other side and immediately turns and starts walking to where you just fought kill him to [thats where it glitched for me] when you go to the fast travel point and see a bunch of rats come out and start heading down it should work

Your tips are amazing man, thanks so much. I tried playing through this too quickly. Got to the 2nd Ketheric fight as a level 6 with no means to level up sufficiently to actually do it. I'm sure some absolute badasses can handle the game as level 5 or 6, but I definitely wasn't up to the task. Started again and used your guide. Has made it an entirely more enjoyable experience, and I'm nearly going onto act 2 at level 7. Using a similar build guide to what you have recommended. Really looking forward to seeing Baldurs Gate city. Had the original first game as a kid so I should have known better to explore more 😂. They really don't hold your hand at all in this game.

I don't know if this will help anyone, but if you're having trouble getting Astarion's quest to update when speaking to Raphael, make sure you've done enough long rests (I personally had to comfort him that I wouldn't make him suck anymore..) - I had Astarion in my party, I did the dialogue until I could select "Anything else I need to know" after the two skill checks - Don't ask if he's afraid or he'll vanish. If you select the aforementioned option he'll offer to read the scars and you'll get your update. I had to fight with this for about 45mins to an hour testing things.
One effective way to deal with countless hordes of rats is to make every one throw an alchemist fire in a semi circle with your backs on the cragged rock. It can save you a 3rd level spell slot for Shadowheart.

I'd say use the CHA, WIS and INT buffs to beat the Thorm siblings, and the Necrotic resistance to beat Balthazar.

Make sure if you're playing a Cleric of Selunite you don't pray to the Shar shrine. You will get Cursed, no matter what.

Tip: If you choose the dark urge route and get to this point a whole different scene plays and it make the encounter much more easier
Tip for the Githyanki ambush by the road to Baldur's Gate, if you have a good enough jumper with enhanced jump, feather fall, and sneak active, they can jump behind the ambush and unlock the fast travel spot. Can also freely jump up and down to place some explosive barrels and finish the encounter before it starts!
if you change regions after freeing the pixie, make sure to reapply her buff after returning

First, i would like to say thank you for making a video this in depth and informative. I feel that you could showcase your builds for the party members a little more in the videos tho.
There is now an achievement added for completing the game in Honour mode, is there going to be some kind of cheese tactic for that or completely separate playthrough will be required? Also keep up the work! Been following the Elden Ring videos, helped a lot.
Honour mode is tough because paths can divert permanently and in big ways depending on failed dice rolls.
I would still say that the builds and exploration pathing shown in this guide series is extremely useful to avoid dying in honour mode.
However, act 1 before level 5 can be perilous in Honour Mode, and so that might be where certain objectives need to wait or be approached a lot more carefully. Bosses like the Owlbear and the Phase Spider matriarch can easily cause a Total party kill with their legendary actions.
I may make a tips video for honour mode or at least cover the different bosses. That will have to wait to see if I have time. I am anticipating the launch of Elden Rings new expansion in the next couple of months.
