  • The Bluetti AC200L is a game changer aboard our sailboat, Paragon. I know people say this all the time, but this power station has fundamentally changed the way we do things aboard Paragon. We haven’t used our propane stove since we got this, instead we’re cooking with electric, powered with our solar panels. We’re charging our electric outboard and all our devices with power to spare. This. Is. Amazing!

    Great review Drake! I’ve been using the BLUETTI 200 AC Max on my W32 with 400 watts of solar(200 X 2 in parallel). I have 150 usable amps of AGM but rarely need to dip into them (multiple cloudy days). The system is split with a changeover switch so I can toggle between the BLUETTI and my AGMs to power the boat. I am very happy with going this route rather than having to rewire and build out a whole new lithium system from the ground up on a 1974 boat.

      That sounds awesome! And it’s great to hear how it was easier to just get the power station instead of installing all of those separate components along with a lithium bank.

    I also run both a refrigerator and chest style freezer, regularly use a
    900 watt microwave oven. I have a 2000 watt Xantrex inverter for off grid AC power.

    This is exactly why I switched from AGM batteries to one big LiFePo on my boat. Charges quickly, but I only have 490 watts of solar. I have to supplement with Honda Generator for a couple hours every other day.

    I am getting about the same PV output off my 2 - 295w panels so I can't wait to see how far you go with all the panels that you are able to deploy. Maybe bifacial when you upgrade? I'm still giddy about the possibilities and I'm happy for you two.

    Great video, Drake! Your editing is also stellar. I love the fact that you are always ready to try something new. ( i.e., the electric motor). I'm wondering if this system could work for my home in South GA. I live on an island just off the coast in Georgia. It is an area where hurricanes make landfall within 200 miles about every 10 years. I am always planning for that event. Usually, I would choose to stay put. So I need to be as comfortable as possible in the aftermath, and after a hurricane is usually HOT. I have a propane generator that will produce 8500 watts that I can hook directly into my power grid. It will run most of my house minus the HVAC of course. But there will still be lots of little things I may need to run like laptops, phones and TVs etc. Here is my question. How portable is the system? I only have about 3 hours of sunshine in my yard (lucky me in the south right). I would need to carry and/or roll it across the street for more sunshine. Could it be moved back and forth easily? Thanks in advance for your help with these questions.

      Thank you Lauren! This particular power station does weigh over 60 lbs, so I think it might be a real workout to carry it more than a very short distance. I do think it would be pretty manageable if you had a wheeled cart to put it on to move it. BLUETTI also sells portable solar panels designed for charging their power stations, and they also sell smaller and lighter power stations that may be more portable.

    Drake! I have a similar boat and SAME Perkins!.I enjoy your travels, commentary and insights. im in the process of changing to lithium w/solar and getting rid of propane (hopeful, likely) that bluetti is pretty cool. Id love to hear about your engine trials/tribulations I know its a work horse of a beast. You've taken it far and vice versa. And Mo! so gracious what a delicious looking meal..cheers! also...I didn't realize you had so many panels or AGM's. How many AH's?

    I've had the Bluetti AC200 Max as the sole source of house and navigation power for nearly two years now.
    A wonderful piece of kit and I get to take it with me if I wish, either temporarily or permanently if I ever sell Jasmine.
    Have you done any videos on your camera and editing hardware/software?

      Oh wow, that it so cool. We've only had ours about a week, but I'm already so impressed by everything we're able to do. It's good to hear from someone that's had it for some time and still loves it. I agree...a very wonderful piece of kit! (✿◠‿◠) - Monique

    Man, I'm surprised you haven't replaced your house bank with lifepo4 yet. Just make sure your alternator can handle it if you do.

    • @drakeParagon
      @drakeParagon  Місяць тому

      Ya, I kind of feel like we’re late to the party. Just before we pushed off from the states in 2013, I outfitted Paragon with 4, brand new, 8D, and 4 brand new group 31 batteries, all AGMs made by Lifeline, along with 15, 130 watt solar panels. With that investment in that many amp hours, we couldn’t really justify the jump all replacing them with LiFePO4.. however, now those AGM batteries are 12 years old and not holding their charge as well as they used to.. stay tuned. :)

    Thank you for your nice review, much appreciated! I have an odd question: can it be connected to the 220V and 12V electrical panel of the boat, using of course respectively the 220 and 12V outputs? At the end it would work as an additional battery bank + inverter in a very compact way, dramatically helping my existing AGM battery bank. Thanks and... Buon Vento!

    • @drakeParagon
      @drakeParagon  9 днів тому +1

      Thank you! I’m not certified or qualified to offer profesional advice on electrical systems. However I think plugging your 220 volt shore power cable into the power station’s 220 outlet would work great as long as you don’t exceed the 2400 watts. However, please note that the Bluetti AC200L’s 12 volt output is via a car/cigarette lighter outlet, and that it is limited to only 10 amps, so i suspect that it may not be enough to power all of your 12 volts stuff without tripping. I actually purchased a separate, waterproof converter that I am planning to plug into the AC200L’s AC outlet. It will convert that AC to 12 volts at up to 25 amps. I got it because I want to run a portable, 15 amp, emergency bilge pump on the power station. If it works well then we’ll make a video about it. :)

    Can you use while you charging , ac refrigerator or ac iPad iPhone charging

    • @drakeParagon
      @drakeParagon  26 днів тому

      Yes, you definitely can power both AC and DC devices while you are charging at the same time. It’s really cool to be able to see how many watts are coming in from solar and how many are going out to power stuff at the same time.
