So, they decided to present "the most badass bounty hunter in the galaxy", who actually doesn't look badass at all, then they show a scene where she gets ridiculed by a droid, who's actually looking badass... It's just silly.

Also she's going to turn out to not be that bad and then become friends/romantically involved with the lead and fight the patriarchy. That seems to be the standard modus operandi for these things and they all recycle the exact same stories over and over again (this was the thing they did in Velma and She-Ra, too )

These types of characters are not bad, they just need nuances and vulnerabilities to prevent them from feeling monotonous or annoying, it works with male characters who are like that, or with those who are sensitive, but show bravery.
The villians name "sleero" sounds like something you'd come up with as an alien name as a kid or a Rick and morty character name
Not really new in Star Wars tbh. “Skywalker” is not famous but is pretty corny compared to other fiction. It’s just meant to convey something about the character

I’m confused about assuming there’d be monster boss battles. That doesn’t fit this at all. You’re not a Jedi, you’re facing humanoids cause you’re a smuggler and robbing people. I don’t think the gameplay style would lend itself to that too. Just shooting a big monster over and over with a blaster would be lame af
Also if you want to make a Han Solo type game. It would be so contrived to just be some dude similar to Han. At least it being a women creates some contrast

We saw all the best bounty hunters in the galaxy during that time, and they were seen next to Vader as he hired them to hunt down Luke and people in his group in one of the OT films, so they are again, classic Disney, adding things uneccessarily into the lore for no reason. Why is it that they are always the best and this is the biggest most important battle blah blah blah, when this literally takes place during the time Luke and the Rebels are fighting the Empire throughout the galaxy. It's just so overdone and eyerolly.
Great explanation on casting. This is giving me librarian bounty hunter chases down soccer mom scoundrel and it's hard to look past it.
That's a perfect description of the main characters. Plus, the motivations for all the characters in the story trailer are lame AF.
My biggest pet peeve with this is locking story content behind an extra $40 paywall after paying $70 for an incomplete game, which is becoming the norn now. This is going to be the first Star Wars game in about 20 years that I will not be pre-ordering and will not be purchasing unless it's on a major sale. I am not funding these practices anymore.

@@wongguankaiqss198 It's 2 extra STORY missions, one of which looks like the part from the trailer where you see Jabba. I admit I could be wrong about that, but it would surprise me if I am. If you want to shell out the $140 for the gold edition, that's your business and I won't knock you for that. I don't believe in belittling other players for their choices. I am just saying, I am really tired of getting nickel and dimed for content. $70 is a big ask for a game. I'm ok with having DLC for cosmetic items and extra non story missions, but locking story missions behind a $40 paywall when you are paying $70 should be unacceptable. I'm one of those idiots who buys everything, and I have just been burned too many times the last year. I just can't keep supporting all of these practices because then I am giving them a license to do more.
I will never EVER pre order a Ubisoft game again. Some people have short memory but I don't.
I don't forget the BULL story trailer of AC Valhalla, that glorious battle which never took place in the game, and the Devs lies that the blade is back, the old school of AC is back bla bla.

First and only Ubisoft game I pre ordered was Prince of Persia: The lost crown, and I do not regret that one.

Imagine being a game studio charging this much for games in 2024 and still not being able to make remotely convincing facial animations when literally every other studio has been able to do it for a decade.

This game looks like every Ubisoft game for the past 8 years. Okay at best. The narrative comes off like a rehash of the solo movie. If this looks fun to you then I hope you enjoy it and it lives up to your expectations. I am just pointing out that as a consumer it’s frustrating to have to have a minimum 70 dollar entry fee when games from this publisher always look like the characters all have the same bad plastic surgeon that botched their Botox injections. Having a reasonable expectation of quality that isn’t being met is hardly “complaining about everything”.
@SteveFrench58 it's makes sense for 70 dollars because of the ip. No doubt Disney takes 30% of the sales. So ubisoft has to up the price. For the facial animation I don't see any downgrade, I really don't maybe it's just me. But I do agree that the lines in the trailer are generic. They could've made it more interesting
@@mrunknown6070I’m not saying what they are charging is right or wrong, but consumers expectations are derived directly from the price of admission and the publishers costs are inconsequential to that. The only thing that should matter to the consumer is weather or not the perceived value of the product lines up with the cost. The fact that there are other games that cost the exact same that the characters don’t just look like Barbie/Ken dolls with mouths superimposed on them automatically lowers the perceived value of the product before it’s even out.
@@mrunknown6070also I’m not saying there was a downgrade or anything. I was just saying that Ubisoft games in the 20 years I’ve been playing them have always had really poor facial animations. I don’t put too much stock in the whole trailer down grade thing since lighting is mostly dynamic now and can be different even in the same scenes so things can look different.

Well put this way. If there's a graphics upgrade , performance improvement and FPS can be achieved by upgraded hardware and an upgraded version of the gaming engine they use. If you dont see the engine getting an upgrade and their serial number changed then all Ubi talks about is bull! ♉

They took the actual actress' face and like smushed it together from top to bottom, and gave her a cleft chin for some reason. I don't know why they even bother hiring models and actresses to model these characters after if they're just going to change everything about them. It's hard NOT to notice when you see what the actual actress looks like.

@Billy-bc8pk Oh of course I know about the whole "androgynous agenda", it's totally fucked and weird as hell. They're almost solely focusing on making female characters less attractive by making them more masculine, but then I see games like Starfield, where it literally goes both ways and they made the women more masculine and the men more feminine.
As far as the Outlaws actress, I didn't know she was of the rainbow persuasion, I don't think I've ever seen her in anything before.
So I guess she's okay with them messing with her face and completely changing the body type. Shame, she's very pretty.
I wonder if there's some clause in these contracts these actresses sign that say something like "we have the right to use your full likeness and change any and all parts of your body that we'd like, including (but not limited to) gender, ethnicity, face, torso, eyes, teeth, waist, legs, hair, etcetera ad infinitum, in any way that we want and to push whatever agenda we may want". If there isn't a clause like that, alot of these chicks should sue the developers for utterly ruining their likeness and changing their appearance completely.
Of course, if they're fine with pushing the whole rainbow gaming agenda, they'd *never* say the devs fucked up their looks intentionally. They really should, though. It all just makes me very curious about how using a person for the likeness works if they're just gonna mangle it after the fact, especially knowing that it's 100% possible for these devs to *accurately* capture their faces and bodies.
I wonder if they're just considered "mo-cap actresses", in these roles, rather than actually being hired for their likeness. Though, that doesn't make much sense considering the way games like the Jedi games treat their actors, which is to say, they treat them as real actors, not just motion-capture dolls to completely change.
Like, I doubt the Outlaws character would look like she does if they *hadn't* used that specific actress (and then totally morphed her).
For your information DUNE is much older than Star Wars it's the father of science fiction most of Star Wars is inspired from DUNE 🤷♂️
For dates Star Wars released 1977, Dune the first book 1965 but it was originally a bunch of short stories in a magazine before that

Nah, AC is pretty different. Even the RPG ones are quite different and, in my humble opinion, more interesting. This one seems more similar to Avatar, great visuals but stale and unoriginal story with underwhelming and repetitive enemies (just based on the trailers obviously, we'll see how it actually is once it releases....not that I'll be playing this one on launch though).

its not about strategy, with a MC as bland and disposable as this, they could have easily made everyone talk about the player indirectly or with an alias like in Cyberpunk and fit in a character creator into the game if they wanted. But since SBI is involved in this you get forced to play as the only SBI approved MC

So when this game takes place the war of the bounty hunters event is taking place,which is the start of the 3 part comic event with crimson dawn. Glad to see them somewhat abide by canon. Boba will be in it due to her seeing a frozen Han.

Ubisoft model for the future is being an online service. That's the reason of the prices. They did already similar with Valhalla. If you pay the monthly fee, you get all the premium editions of their games (even pre-order cosmetics). I would like the idea if it were not making the games artificially grinding to sell you speed-ups.

Bearing in mind this is all motion-capture, Vail has strangely good guy, "good gal", vibes about her, she carries herself and communicates very much like an officer. I reckon she might not be entirely just a bounty hunter, Rebel Intelligence deep cover perhaps...

Imho it works against them, When the game is mediocre (and it always is) it ends up killing the hype right around the time customers are wondering if the game is worth buying or if they should cancel their preorder and use the money for some other game. The only one i can think of that got away with it was Diablo4 and it was because Blizzard customers refuse to accept that they are a shambling zombie that will never make anything good ever again. ME Andromeda got severely hurt by it, Anthem got nuked by it, SSquad was kind of DOA even before the period (they game was unplayable most of the 3 days anyway, lol, the lack of outrage tells you how hard that game bombed)

The main character feels like she doesn't fit in this universe. Her dialogue, body language, and storytelling beats all feel off for Star Wars. This feels like a poorly done ripoff of Horizon Zero Dawn rather than a Star Wars game. I love the idea of a bounty hunting game despite there being no force powers, because it gives a chance to flesh out the worldbuilding of the Star Wars universe on the street level. But this feels strangely generic and cookie cutter with that worldbuilding. In the end, this looks like another meh Ubisoft game combined with another blah Disney Star Wars story. Meh and blah.
The Kessel run package, she turns into Lando in The Empire Strikes Back and gets Han's clothes, I played a lot of Survivor as Han Solo with the iconic DL-44 blaster and Harrison's hairstyle, I loved it but I don't want to play with a broad in Han's clothes

Not really, the most popular disney star wars show is the Mandalorian and if this was a cool Mandalorian game it would be received better. Same way the battlefront games are the most popular albeit there are lightsabers in those games most the time you play as a trooper. This just looks boring. No create a character in a game like this is ridiculous that's mostly what fans really want.
@@agentbridger6127 If though Mandalorian season 1 was Amazing, Season 2 was like 5-6 stars out of 10, and season 3 was ok but not good because Kathleen Kennedy still took over from Jon Favreau’s work. Like Kathleen Kennedy said, “The Force is Female,” we all know that means. That game was better than the Battlefronts EA produced. Oh and the character had a lightsaber. But here is one thing, right now and I mean right now Ubisoft just released the trailer of Star Wars Outlaw and now that everyone knows that Star Wars Outlaw had the help of SBI and made the character look ugly on purpose and the character development and background is lacking. I’m sorry to say that there is no heroes journey for this character or for this game. We need Star Wars Eclipse!

I would be all about this game....if it wasn't coming from Ubi. That alone is making me nervous. I love this universe, lore, and story potential, but I'm a bit of a Ubisoft skeptic. Fingers crossed they prove me wrong on this one.

I know this might piss some people off but, IMO, the problem with having every female lead being a copy cat of Nathan Drake is that sarcasm and "funny" banter doesn't come as natural to the majority of women... I've maybe met four or five women in my entire life that managed to do banter in a non-forced or cringe manner and actually be funny, while it's pretty much daily that you run into a dude that has some clever remarks you've never heard before! And it's not that women aren't funny(Most people in general are boring), some of the funniest people I've met are women, but these women don't have "dude humor" like Nathan Drake or Deadpool for example, they are just naturally very happy and are always close to laughing and not afraid to poke fun at themselves!

Her face is very odd indeed. It's like they've tried to make her a little bit Asian at the last minute and if they had just done that, bit of an Asian mix no one would care or notice but they made her and had her made for presumably at least a few years now except now she's been altered on the fly which doesn't really work because you can tell it's not a designed face it's an altered face. It's quite jarring to be honest.

I like Han Solo, but I don't really wanna play as a Han Solo type character in a Star Wars game, that has so many fun toys to use. Give me a lightsaber or a jetpack. I wanna be a Sith/Jedi or a Mandalorian. Just being a regular person with a blaster isn't all that appealing.
