  • Applying Fungicide to Tall Corn
    #corn #growingcorn #fungicide #farmhandmike
In this video I am out in the field west of Greenville Ohio as a local farmer is spraying fungicide on tall corn with a Hagie STS12 self propelled sprayer with a 100 foot wide boom. In this video I talk about the machine and the process and show you several angles from the air, ground and in and on the machine.
Applying Fungicide to tall corn will help with disease issues and improve the corn yield.

Thanks for this video Mike. Not being a farmer myself, I learned a lot about spraying fungicide on standing corn.

I agree with the one guy the ground units do better coverage.

Brings back memories of Dad's Hagie and foliar feeding corn like that. Of course he only had a 50 ft boom, no cab, and 2400cc engine. They didn't make em like they do today. Great video Mike.

The scale of these farms never fails to astonish me, even as someone with a degree in agronomy. I have about 45 acres of fairways, 2 acres of greens and 60 acres of rough at my golf course. A little larger than that one field. It takes me a solid 4 hours to spray just the 45 acres of fairways using an 18 foot boom. Doing 90 acres in an hour is awesome. Doing all 18 greens also takes about 4 hours but it's a much more precise application running considerably more water per acre. Even though it looks pretty, I haven't found a turf that actually enjoys being cut at .125" so we verg careful.

The thicker the crop, in general the more disease it will get and therefore the more the crop will benefit from fungicide.

This is such a tough year for our farmers. The plains farms are in a drought, NE & Florida farms are getting too much rain. Here in PA, we’ve been seeing a lot more insects (haven’t seen cicadas yet) too.Welker’s planted the whole farm for the first time, 1st came the drought, then a hale storm destroyed a lot of acres. So incredibly sad. I was so excited to see how USMCA & 🇨🇳 trade deals benefitted our farms. Inflation has gone up 5% already this year, I’m sure crop shortages won’t help. Will the farmers bring in higher profits from the higher prices? Or will the raise in fuel prices counteract the higher sale price?

It looks like rain is not equally shifted there in the States this summer.

I been farming for 60 years and never put it on when you can get a average of 230 bu. . The cost and running over corn does not pay

Once upon a time, When everybody was buying JD 700 and the JD 734 hi- boy sprayers, there was also a Hagie and a Helveti hi- boy. Also there was a Hahn sprayer powered by a Wisconsin version air cooled V4 engined. That was the 1060s market for self propelled sprayers! Looks like Hagie is the survivor of that race!! Time was it was 2-4-D and a late season sprayer that made America great😎‼️
Now, (wishful thinking’’ if there was only an effective insecticide for Marxist Democrats and RINO “Republicans” occupying the “deep state”, we wouldn’t be in the state we’re in todaylp‼️ But I digress………

There"s no way I would ever use a front boom sprayer, for health reasons.

No different than any other sprayer. It's either going under the cab or is getting applied behind the cab like in this video

Great drone work, I caught the opening intro as a 120 ' boom, because of the fold over the most it could be is 100 ft. Operators that spray tall Corn need to be on there A game.
