Wine Review: Connetable Talbot Saint Julien 2018

In our tasting for today Wine-Searcher's Wine Director David Allen MW follows up his recent tasting of Chateau Talbot 2020 by trying the second wine from the same estate Connetable Talbot - this wine is from the 2018 vintage and is in a half bottle.
Bird lovers will appreciate the distinctive calls of the Tui which occur throughout the video and the brief appearance of a tiny fantail which also tries to get in on the action!
Chateau Talbot is a well-regarded estate in the Saint-Julien appellation of the Haut-Médoc, just north of the city of Bordeaux. The estate was ranked a fourth growth in the 1855 Bordeaux Classification. The Cabernet Sauvignon-dominant grand vin is known for its spicy aromas and silky texture when young, but also renowned for its consistent ability to age well.
The estate has been producing its second wine since the 1960's. The blend of this wine in 2018 was 57% Merlot and 43% Cabernet Sauvignon. David also looks at the difference in vine age and percentage of new oak used between this and the estate's first wine in 2018.
