the aspect ratio dial on the Lumix LX100 was one of the nicest most underrated features I ever experienced. was really useful but would never have thought that on forehand.
So a couple of months later we’re going to have a GFX-100RF Mark 2 with IBIS & even a little faster lens. Classic product segmentations of a computer run by shareholders!
I like the aspect ratio switch as I enjoy using this on the Panasonic LX100ii and DLUX8. I think this adds to the enjoyment of taking pictures if you can view and take the picture in the desired aspect ratio as this helps composition.
I have yet to explore medium format, so as someone who absolutely loves the X100 series, I am pretty excited about the prospect of the GFX100RF! 28mm FF is also my favorite all around focal length, I find it more flexible than 35mm (I usually pair the X100vi with the wide angle adapter). And a crop zoom lever in this case is very useful when you are working with a full resolution of 100MP!
The 100rf is the perfect second body for me. I don’t want to invest into the expensive medium format lens system but would love to play with medium format. Excited for the official announcement.
It kinda makes better sense for me as well but I think they went for 100MP to provide better possibilities to the crop-zoom lever function on the camera.
Meh camera. Instead of greating us with cheaper ways to produce their regular medium format lineup, the camera industry again blurted out a shitty "Influencer" or "Vlogger" camera absolutely no one needs. The files coming out of that sensor are going to be astronomical for no real gain on videoqulity. 4k 60 is 40k 60. This will appal to those copium masters defending on youtube, why their 7000€ Leica camera is the one and only best camera.
@@Whaever_1981 I'd prefer an equivalent of 40mm so a 50mm :D Or a 35mm equivalent, or a 50mm equivalent. Get us something traditional for a traditional street style camera...
Don't want to create a shitstorm here, but if you want a small and light form factor with a decent zoom and the best ibis in class go for the OM-5 with a F2.8 pro lens. Switching of the aspect ratio with one swipe is not so unique. The OM super control screen has been able to do this for years with one button + dial as well. Plus: you can program a function button if you really need this frequently. You can control all relevant features of the camera there with one button + dial
THat X-HF camera - which I'd describe as a portrait sensor rather than half frame - is the most interesting one to me. I've been shooting with a half-frame film camera lately and it's a lot of fun shooting with the framing in the vertical/portrait orientation.
Add me to the list of people who love the X-Pro line and want the new model. I’m also keen to see what they do with the xe-5…hopefully adding back some controls and buttons.
I can’t believe Fuji is putting valuable resources into this project instead of a wildly overdue X-Pro refresh. The margins must be huge on these fixed lens cameras.
Price point in the new gfx will be a huge deciding factor in whether it sells or not IMO. If you can get a 100s for less on the used market i don't see it selling well.
Fuji is making a Leica Q3-28 and that's great! But the Q3 has a leaf-shutter lens (f1.7) with stabilization in the lens. The Q3 is a BS sensor at 60mpx. There's a chance the GFX100RF is the same size, but it will be interested if it has a good enough grip or you need a Fuji or 3rd party grip. I own a GFX50r and a Leica Q3 and it will be interesting to see the GFX100rf
The 7artisans 28/1.4 technically designed for M-mount will work well on a GFX, it almost covers the full frame, at 3:2 is kinda usable, at 16:9 for video is great. Just FYI if you want a decent, light and cheap wide angle.
@@MrMysto gfx also has ibis but it sure as hell wont be affordable seeing how even their aps-c cameras all raised their prices for their newer models. no chance that it wont be below 5k. Id guess something 6k-7k
Why? The current X-Trans sensors are great, and to create a special sensor just for that line would drive up the price significantly. If they did make a "special" extra good sensor for those the X-Pro and X100, it would still be more cost efficient to make that the standard Fujifilm sensor. Like, Fujifilm should just make the best sensor they can and put that in all the things. I much prefer my X100VI and my X-T5 have matching sensors.
I love Fuji cameras and lenses. And I'm glad that I learned a long time ago to stick with gear I have and stop wasting money. The photos I'm taking with my X-T2 are just as good as the ones I took when I borrowed an X-T5 and any of the reissued lenses. I actually like the look of the old lenses better.
Very interested in a competitor to the Leica Q, however f4 is a tough sell. Loving all the other features of that camera. With F4 and no ibis, price point would have to be under $3k, which I dont imagine it will be.

I'm fine with no IBIS and a slower lens. It would be amazing If they could manage the size between a XPro3 and 50R. Both cameras I am a huge fan. If it isnt too expensive, maybe I could still keep my 50R.
it's a shitty mockup... the image is a shrunken GFX50R with the thumb grip from a 50SII and the name font is way too big, so I wouldn't expect much realism from that image
But is it possible that there is not 1 Japanese who is interested in a compact GFX 100 mpx like the GFX 50r with interchangeable optics? This GFX 100RF with a 35 f/4 fixed pancake is limiting!

Loses connection with the booster grip, complains the kit lens isn't attached and wants me to re-mount the lens, and now fails to start up on full batteries 50% of the time. I like the medium format fixed concept but that lens isn’t fast enough. I can live without IBIS. I’m here for the X-Pro and not buying any new lenses until I see continued commitment to that form factor. In the absence of that, I’m more likely to move to Nikon than the XT range.

For me Fuji is taking too long in delivering a new and long awaited X-Pro model, specially since so many people is waiting for it... actually I know some users who already got tired of waiting for it. I am perfectly fine with brands taking some years between current and newer models, it´s a great way yo enjoy a great model and make better use of your money and investment as user, just like Leica does but I think the X-Pro 3 was not absolutely well received and loved by all users so I would've expected a quicker upgrade model. Changing aspect ratio with a dial is nothing new. My Panasonic Lumix LX 100 cameras have that feature for 10 years. They also have a 4/3 sensor and a 3.1 zoom of f1.7 to 2.8.
@ Having shot the GFX100 in the past, camera shake is an issue with that sensor. IBIS is a must for handheld indoor shooting. This fixed lens thing is “interesting” and I’m sure it will have some devoted fans, but to me it’s just too limiting.
f/4.0 just isn't an attractive aperture for marketing a fixed prime lens. It at least should have been f/3.5 which has many cases of fixed lens medium cameras with that aperture, and with a larger image area to boot.

No ibis and f 3.2 is a big joke even in medium format
If you are interested in Fuji the best advice for you is to buy the Sony A6700 😆
How lame can a comment get: sebartus: YES
Changing aspect ratio with a dial is nothing new. My Panasonic Lumix LX 100 cameras have that feature for 10 years. They also have a 4/3 sensor and a 3.1 zoom of f1.7 to 2.8.
Some other compact Lumix cameras had that dial on the lens as well
X-HF ---- sensor sideways??!!! Stupid!
This aperture is too slow for me.
Fuji is the new Leica
that's because Sony is now Fuji 😂
A che prezzo?
P.s.
A obiettivo fisso?… no grazie non mi interessa.
Damn this one is sexy
No IBIS? Not interested.
Hahaha you are just limiting yourself for no reason🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️
@ Actually no. I have other budget priorities mostly. But at f4.0 you will have to be on a tripod a lot.
@waveland absolutely not. The equivalent on ff would be 35mm f3.2 do you need a tripod for that??? I don't think so😂
@ Having shot the GFX100 in the past, camera shake is an issue with that sensor. IBIS is a must for handheld indoor shooting. This fixed lens thing is “interesting” and I’m sure it will have some devoted fans, but to me it’s just too limiting.
@@waveland that's fair, for indoor it would be nice but in general I don't think the camera needs it. (Size and weight)
Compact medium format? Makes ZERO sense, this cameras are not bought by noobs like the 100V
So much cropping
f/4.0 just isn't an attractive aperture for marketing a fixed prime lens. It at least should have been f/3.5 which has many cases of fixed lens medium cameras with that aperture, and with a larger image area to boot.

Another wide angle compact fixed lens camera? 🥱
Wish they made one with a neutral angle lens instead...
