  • Ken Ham and his team have a weekly "news" show, reacting to the news stories of the day from a Christian young-earth creation perspective from the Answers in Genesis staff at his Creation Museum.
Trevor Valle and I join Avery, Bodie, and Gabriella as they discuss - Scientists discover human fossils; Small dino only a kid; Eighty-Five Reports of Biological Remnants in Fossils and more during Answers News, broadcast live from the Creation Museum.

When the AiG crew talked about how scientists first said the soft tissue was contamination as if the scientists were running out of explanations, I was more reminded of creationists who started out denying evolution altogether and have since had to latch onto an imagined divide between micro and macro evolution because we've seen change over time happen, so they couldn't maintain their original view anymore.

I had the chance to visit the La Brea pits a few years ago.. .I was absolutely fascinated by the museum there. I watched a couple of the staff working on things behind the glass ..I was there for literally 30+, watching one lady sorting microscopic bits under a stereoscope, and another working on cleaning the goo from a tiny little skull (the note card said it was a gray fox urocyon cinereoargenteus...) The tech was carefully scraping gunk from between the teeth, and after he noticed i'd watched intently, he looked up, grinned and turned it around to show me what he'd been trying to prise loose. it looked a stick. I mouthed "a bone?" he grined, shrugged and mouthed back "think so!"
My wife came over after awhile and said "you know they let volunteers work on this stuff too..." I told her sadly, "yeah but a 2500 mile commute just isn't very feasible..." she laughed and said "if we lived close enough, i'd never see you; you'd always be here..." we both laughed cuz we knew she was right.....
Sadly, here in Southern WV, we don't have anything similar to that sort of set up...so i am forced to be a dedicated hobbyist... :P

I just visited the Cincinnati Museum Center for the moon orbiter display and did the natural history museum also while there. They had a bunch of signs about what was real bone, what was fake, how many different bits and pieces were used. My buddy and I had a blast trying to identify what was what, which was extra fun as we had very different vantage points (he’s tall and was standing, I’m short and was in my wheelchair to boot), and finally figured out an interesting way to easily spot real fossil versus cast (real fossils were cradled by a metal yoke, the casts were drilled and metal spikes inserted into them to hold them on with less metal). Those signs definitely weren’t a thing there when I was a little kid but I think it made the whole thing even more fun on top of being extra educational.

I would love for a young earth creationist to explain the INSANE biodiversity that would necessarily have had to exist in their world model. How could eco systems support dozens of species of large bodied sauropod dinosaurs? How could it support dozens, hundreds even of large bodied theropod carnivores that would have been directly competing with eachother. Eco systems as it stands can only handle 3 maybe 4 large predators in an area and even then they usually have to exploit separate niches. For instance hyenas, lions, and crocodiles all exist in the same environment, and while hyenas and lions frequently directly compete for kills, they rarely directly compete with crocodiles, and that is to say nothing of the pressure that is placed on the eco system by having those 3 apex predators existing in the same environment.

I wonder how it is to lie for a living and stun minds that could otherwise contribute to the better of humanity in science but instead get bashed back in place with an ancient fairytale.
