When Phil Vischer linked flood geology and the young earth creationism to Ellen White...I had some crazy flashbacks to when my family lived abroad (we’re from the US originally) and we lived in a place that the only school which taught in English was a Seventh Day Adventist school. So for 3 years, I was taught SDA religious beliefs everyday! Yikes. Flashbacks. But what’s funny (to me) is that my family came from the Mormon traditions and it was a constant intellectual battle to be taught SDA theology during the week and Mormonism in the evenings and on Sunday. (I also attended a Catholic high school😆). It’s why I’m an agnostic atheist now. Not because of science...but because I was at the front line of all sorts Christian traditions (my best friends were a Presbyterian and an Assembly of God members) all fighting for the poor souls of the indigenous population. I saw missionaries from many different denominations and even in my young mind thought “well, they can’t all be true”....and then as I got older, it all fell apart. SDA, Catholic, and especially my family’s Mormonism!

What a finicky business the public face of religion is.
I guess I’ve known that for a long time- I grew up in the same town as Jennifer Knapp and saw that worldwide backlash front and center. It’s different to see from this side though. Way different.
I recommend Saber's video about VT to everyone thinking on the topic of Religion, Inc.

@@autobotstarscream765 I'll check it out! Thank you.
@@NotTheSameAsIWas You're welcome, hope you enjoy it. 😇
I am intrigued and want to know more about the Jennifer Knapp stuff. I’m going to check out the video linked here!
@@autobotstarscream765 Do you remember what you were talking about back then? It got deleted at some point for some reason. I'm just curious about it and also Jennifer Knapp.
Oh that was great Paul!! Good job! Can’t wait for Hammy new year!!!👍🏼👍🏼☺️☺️
Paul, congratulations! You've outdone yourself. What an outstanding video. We raised our sons on Veggie Tales, and as young men they would be very impressed to watch this. Keep up the great work!
"He called me an extremist! Can you believe it?
Anyway, I totally don't care if he calls me an extremist."
Always glad when you upload, good work!
Bob the Tomato sassing a young-earth creationist on a talk show has made my day.
Seeing a conservative christian on Paulogia's show makes me smile, I'm very happy that some bridges are being built
Did anyone in AIG look at that picture of humans and deadly, vicious dinosaurs and realize it makes zero sense for them to co-exist?
Ham seriously claims that all dinosaurs were originally herbivores, and that the large, pointy teeth were for eating pumpkins. In ancient Israel. You know, where pumpkins are obviously plentiful.
Call a "seventh-day adventist" a "sixth-day adventist" and all hell break loose!😆
Came across Phil’s evangelicalism and race relations in the US series. Some of the best historical summaries on the topic. Lays it out perfectly. As a former evangelical I really appreciate his approach.
Thanks for having Phil on.
I just love the jingle for Ham and AiG news.
I wouldn't have thought that I could to this degree enjoy a Paulogia video where Paul speaks so little, as I have enjoyed this.
I really appreciate the respectful way this was handled. Even when people disagree on their beliefs, respectful dialogue enhances everyone’s understanding of each other. Ken Ham is a stunning example of Judge not lest you yourselves be judged…..
I've been saying for years that YEC is a recent invention, just as Vischer is saying. I guess that I'm an atheist means my views were dismissable.
Also, Ron Numbers, *The Creationists* is a good source of info on the history of creationism.
You're an atheist AND you'd like people to be treated with respect... so you obviously can't be trusted. Double-whammy.
This is the most informative video I have ever seen on this channel. Your videos are highly informative but there is something in this one for me that stands out. Thanks for the enormous effort you put into what you do.
Paulogia makes many other youtube atheists look like turds. Never cruel, never condescending, and holy shit working with an evangelical! I respect paul a lot more.
Paul this is LEGENDARY!
WAY TO GO
Love Phil's impression of Ken
i respect the fact that paul has guys like phil on his videos and talks to even eric hovind on good terms
Talking Seventh Day Adventism today? Lovely, it’s my old turf 😂😂😂
This was wonderful! I haven't paid attention to Veggie Tales since my kids were little over a decade ago. Phil was delightful, informative, and just hilarious.
VeggieTales (before Phil left) was bangin'. It actually helped me realize as a kid that some of the biblical stories were just that: stories. Although I didnt leave the church for another 15 years or so, this did assist me in breaking past the notion of "you cannot question any aspect of the religion." I'm sure this wasnt Phil's intention, but I'm appreciative of his work!
@@Readrose8 I was pretty lucky to have a mom who also had qualms with the church. When I started being vocal about it around 13, she confined in me her own disagreements.
Glad you're here, Cyann.
Hahaha such a classic! We are the pirates who dont do anything is my life's moto now ;) heheh
This was hilarious and brilliant. I was worried at first that VeggieTales was somehow going to end up on Ken's side since I still have good memories of that show.
As a fellow atheist I must admit, what an amazing guest you managed to find!!
This has been one of your best videos. Phil is believable, a little self deprecating, and quite humorous. Thanks. Ham et al will continue to be whatever they are, and can't be taken seriously.
It never ceases to amaze me how every person in every denomination of every religion is personally sure their own interpretation of scripture/dogma is the right one, even if they are literally the only one who sees it that way. Gee, it's almost like religion is one big Rorschach test of selfish self-affirming confirmation bias...
Thank you for having Phil on Paul! Thank you for joining Paul on this Phil!
What a crossover
Definitely my favorite episode of Ham & AiGs. The Ken Ham origin story. Thanks Paul and Phil.
