    I still don't understand this point 26:41 - 27:04
    Wouldn't it be possible to take, for example, a bunch of cats and
    put them in a special environment for a very long time
    which forces them to slowly evolve into a species
    which has exactly the same characteristics as goats?
    I understand that new species would have the cat species as its ancestor, unlike goats from today,
    but wouldn't members of that new species be, by all means and purposes, goats?
    So, in the way presented above, wouldn't it be possible to get a goat from a cat through evolution?
    Can somebody please clarify this for me?

    • @Rayrard
      @Rayrard 4 роки тому

      No they would be goat-like cats, and their internal anatomy would be completely different from goats and more like their cat ancestor. So would their genes, so this goat-like cat would be phylogenetically nested inside the feline clade. There is no way for even the most goat-like feline to ever become a member of a different clade. That's why the whole notion of "kind" is stupid because you can make a cat a non-cat just be labeling it something different. So if you named that goat-like cat a "Gocat" you could argue it's a "non-cat" simply be the relabeling of the clade. It will forever be part of the feline clade though.

    • @aniedubieb7613
      @aniedubieb7613 4 роки тому

      Thank you for your response. So evolution simply can not completely change the internal anatomy of a species? I thought that, given enough time and the right conditions, even that would change eventually, even if it would be extremely hard to change it in such a radical way.

      Oh my, I seem to have enticed a troll out from under their bridge. I'm guessing by your bizarre term of chemical evolution you actually mean abiogenesis, if you are that is still being studied, as it should be, and it can be falsified by showing that chemical interactions have no emergent properties that would lead to them forming compounds essential for life (e.g. RNA) under naturally occurring conditions. Which, spoiler alert, it would seem they do. The silly thing about your statement is that various avenues of research into the potential course of abiogenesis are currently occurring, it is a very new field, and experiments are disproving certain avenues and promoting others. The very act of defining the theory is demonstrating that it is falsifiable as research disproves hypotheses. So that one is falsifiable. Then we have what you call biological evolution, which shows your prejudice, because it's just called evolution. That is also easily falsifiable; show me two organisms with the same DNA but different genetic traits, but a Google search will provide you more possibilities for falsifying evolution. Actually better still show me a duck that gave birth to a crocodile, that would certainly falsify evolution. Unfortunately for you both are falsifiable and reality doesn't conform to your scientific illiteracy.

    3. Therefore evolution didn't produce these cells.

    Believe it or not, for an amateur like me starting to study trees and tree pathology, it takes my breath away and make me cry every time I go out. I'm an atheist. But there is something "spiritual" about a beautiful linden in bloom, and then to document the mite galls on the leaves (they are tiny and other worldly), and know that the tree is perfectly happy with the mites. And a tree in its way is its own ecosystem. Trees are wonderful. When I'm depressed, I go out and lean on my favorite box elder. And I know it doesn't care, because it's not a caring thing, it's a tree-ing thing. But I find comfort. No god, no salvation. Just the beauty of trees and my good fortune to see to take part in that.

    I have heard "life is meaningless" many times, from creationists. Your life is just a unimaginably short trial-period where you do only one thing that matters: you accept God or don't. All your joy, suffering, pain, love and learning you experience -- all of your personality -- doesn't mean anything; your whole life on Earth devolves down to you arriving at the Gates of Heaven with nothing but your name followed by a check mark or an X. That's it.

      Oh, and the _afterlife_ of creationists is meaningless as well. What do they _do_ in Heaven? Work with the other saved souls to make Heaven a better place? That can't be done, because it's already perfect. Anything anyone actually _does_ in Heaven must have zero effect to preserve that perfection. Thus everyone there has a completely meaningless afterlife, for _eternity._ Just like Hell.

    3:40 Jesus. I can practically _hear_ Georgia's brain picturing a *garden **_genome_* just from the way she can't pronounce genome.
    Emphasis on "practically". There's a significant missing component that prevents that actually occurring. The clever reader will figure out the joke/insult on their own from here.

    #askPaulogia Can Good be a designer? For me that part is stupid, when Dev create game and it cruch, he re do it remove errors and start over, so when Adam ate the fruit, it shoul be instant reboot. And even if not a reset with new parameters, he deemed Adam and Eve as a disregarted broken pieces of his project, then why is he even bothering with them and their children? And if you say, no he want to give them a chance, than remember that he does reboots, small like Sodom and Gomor, and big like Flood, so why not start over from the begining?
    Also remember, that every tribe and person they kill, it is still a part of their familie from Adam, and leater Noah, and I do not get how nations who know for sure god is real from their parents Adam, and Noah and still so easy invent new gods, even after seeing his power with Moses and the plagues, it take tham less than no time after Moses go up hill, to invent and pray to Gold Calf.

    I really want to ask Sy does he apply these same rules to his belief in a god? Why does he believe in god? It makes no sense. Hard to wrap my head around a mind that thinks critically and looks for demonstrable answers to things and yet believes in something that is not demonstrable. 😄🤔😳

    #askpaulogia (my very first hashtag. I hate you for that! [disclaimer: that may/may not be true] ) Do the various protestant/evangelical offshoots/catholics/orthodox/coptic/etc. versions of christianity think of each other as heretical? If not, why not? If the point of all these denominations is that they have a different theology, eschatology, ontology, christology, morphology, etymology, entomology, who knows what else(?), yet they can all be christians then all of those above named -ologies don't actually matter and so there shouldn't be denominations. If those things are actually fundamental to getting into heaven, then everyone who disagrees with you should burn forevermore in the sulphur and brimestone adjacent areas of hell, no?

If the Theist part assume good and bad place, but you cant be sure which "good entity" there is, should they rather seek favor from "evil entity", so not to be torture to extrime. Like Christian denominations, they have different ways to go to haven, but they still have only one hell and one Devil.

    One thing I particularly enjoyed about this video is the way Sy stressed a point I, as a sociologist, am quick to make is that religion and science answer fundamentally different questions. Science answers "how does this work?" questions, while religion answers "why do things (including people) exist?" questions.
    Confusing the two does no good to either.

    Paulogia, it sounds like this guy, while in partial agreement with evolutionist science, also disagrees with a HUGE amount of evolutionary science, such as that Chimps and Humans are "related" -- and thus our evolutionary ancestor, essentially "did give birth to other species" -- provable via fuse Chromosome 2, ERV's, and much else.
    I'd like to see you break down his beliefs more, and explore his rationale for rejecting the evolutionary theories of common ancestry.

    Okay, this one has been bugging me for YEARS, and as a former Young Earth Creationist, maybe you could answer this for me. So, let's grant, just for this question, that the Bible is true, everything Christians say is true, no contradictions in the Bible, God is a fact and he makes appearances somewhat regularly. God is all good, all loving, and would never do anything bad ever. Still with me? So then, why when you say someone is "God fearing", is that a compliment? This is a lawful good, all loving deity who wants only the best for you at all times. If you're a good christian, why would you EVER fear God? Why is the phrase 'God Fearing Christian' and not 'God Fearing Atheist', which would still be wrong, but make FAR more sense? Please explain this to me. #askpaulogia

    #askPaulogia ... Paul, I enjoy listening to your videos. I am curious if you would be interested in interacting with Christian faith from a subjective perspective rather than an objective perspective. For example, someone saying, "I believe in the resurrection of Jesus because it inspires me (subjective)," rather than the status quo Christian apologetic, "I believe in the resurrection of Jesus because of 'proofs'(x)(y)(z) (objective)."
