Thank u bro for this video 😘😘
For tiguan 2010 /2.0 tdi/140
we need also 6L for oil ??
I'll wait for your answer 😊
Thnks
Yes, they are using the same transmission.
Your time and effort in making this video is certainly appreciated (ditto for your camera person!). Thank you. I want to point out to viewers that the final steps you showed in terms of fluid fill and adjustment are INCORRECT, and following your steps will likely result in transmission malfunction and/or damage. First, once the new fluid (6 qts, typically) is pumped into the trans, start the car and run through the gears as you have shown. Once the trans is up to a temp range of 35-45 degrees Celsius (verified through VAGCOM or similar...can take 10-20 mins of idling depending on ambient temps), and while the car is LEVEL (not on ramps), remove the drain plug and allow oil to escape until the stream is down to a trickle. Then, and only then, replace the drain plug. Unless you've done additional work after this video, your CC transmission is overfilled, guaranteed.
4 quarts ......I've done this so many times .......... 4 quarts even with it draining all night. 4 quarts ... and, I use VCDS and trans up to temp! Still 4 quarts........ for my 2011 model Tiguan.
Agreed. I believe the six quarts typically called for represents a chance to mix more new fluid with the leftover volume of old fluid before draining back out again, resulting in a “fresher” state of trans fluid in total. My wife’s 2016 Tiguan also ended up with about four quarts of the six left in the trans. Seems like a waste on paper but I can also understand the reasoning behind this. Given it’s needed so infrequently, might be worth the added expense. @@andrewmeadors936
@@Jeremya74 Use a device that communicates with your vehicle's OBD port (VAGCOM for VW/Audi and some others), such as an OBDEleven or VDCS from Ross-Tech. You'll be able to access real time trans fluid temps this way, and it's the most accurate method for doing this fluid swap the right way.
I like how I.T people will be figuring it out and also doing a tutorial at the same time, nice one. Your car has a transmission fill plug by the way, its right under your battery
First of all thank you for this! Second of all if you are like me and are not interested in purchasing the $330 kit referenced here, I used lucas oil 10052-pk6 semi synthetic automatic transmission fluid. Works like a charm, I purchased the pump suggested above and a gasket and filter from autozone for $23. The oil may not be as high of quality but if you plan to replace after every 30k miles it does the job as needed. The one part that was tricky to find was the Transmission fluid fill adapter. I ended purchasing "OTC 6604 transmission fluid fill adapter" off amazon and it worked as expected. All in all this cost me a grand total of about $70. IMO its worth the money saved. This video was amazing thank you for making it, sincerely!
My pleasure. Thank you for your support 😃
I just done my first oil service on the wife's 2015 R-Line Tig, I came across your other video and checked it out to see if I was prepared to service her car without headache ( and I done so with ease ) while I had the the skid covers out I noticed the trans sump and thought I should probably organize myself to do a DSG service next, I just back on youtube and bam, your dsg video is uploaded, haha, your awesome man keep those rad videos coming
That is awesome my friend. Good job on doing the oil service on your wife VW Tiguan. Thank you for supporting my channel ans watching my videos 👍😀

Great job. You had me saying righty tighty, lefty loosie the whole time lol. I can't believe you can't just refill the fluid from the engine compartment. That's a pain in the you know what.
Thank you very much. It will save you a lot of money if you know how to do it yourself 😀
I just did my transmission service last week and a half ago. Good job with the transmission service! Just for your information. I use a impact driver which speeds up the work flow. Have a great one!
Hi! Good job. That's awesome that you did the transmission fluid already. I have been very lazy to do any car maintenance video. Using the impact driver makes the job faster :) Have a great weekend too :)
I am about to do all 4 brakes next week. OEM VW brake rotors and pads.
That is going to be fun 😀
Do you have a email or Instagram for questions?
How you fill-up properly fluid into transmission if the car is not leveled?
Really brother all your video very very good ❤❤❤🎉
Thank you very much brother 🙏
Hello there. Thank you for the video. I have one question. Shouldn't you leave that all the extra fluid come out before you tight the las bolt? I mean, that's the purpose of the plastic level meter that is inserted there isn't it?. Shouldn't you wait to put the bolt until it stops leaking ? Thank you!!
My pleasure. As soon as the fluid leaks out, insert the bolt 😄
Is motul or senfineco oil engine good and compatible with tiguan 2013?
Keep up Great work Great Diy and daughter is right on GOOD team work!!

You are very good in U tube
Thank you very much Rodoifo. I really appreciate your kind words
Great and interesting work, friend. Congrats and greetings!
Thank you very much Olivier. I hope you are doing well my friend 😀
I can see you are already doing good on the fluid by getting good fluid. Ravenol is among the best brands there are. I have also had good luck with Liqui Moly Top Tec 1800 for G 055 540 A2. For G 055 025 A2 you would want the Top Tec 1200. One thing I notice right away is that no other fluids for these transmissions are as expensive as the Volkswagen branded fluids.
Thank you very much. I really like the Liqui Moly products. I use their engine oil for my VW and Porsche.

i did this and oil change at same time....was easy
Good job 👍👍👍👍
One thing to note about those bottles is that only the seal that pulls out comes off easily. The blue lid is on there really securely and will not twist off without channel lock pliers. I also prefer to buy the 4 liter jug just because you pay less per liter that way.
Does this video cover the 2017 VW Tiguan?
2013 and 2017 is similar.
I think blaupart's guide has something different as comparing with the factory manual regarding how to refill/top off the tank. Please refer to group 37 section 15 of the 09M gearbox manual for details.
What's the recommendation for someone who doesn't have the Ross Tech diagnostic kit? Use a laser thermometer like those used for HVAC?
Wow.... Nice car....

Thank you so much by your quik answer, today my tiguan have a leakage betwen engine and automatic transmition but I don't see clearly the leakage point maybe will be necessary go to de alerta or can you recommend me some tip. Thank in advance by you apreciable time to help me

Hi my friend im written from Venezuela. I have a jetta 2007 and a want change the gasket of transmition.. the transmition model is a 09G of VW. But i have 2 cuestions for you. Help me.
I can use a litle portion of silicole red between the UPS side of gasket and the metal surface ?
And the last cuestión is what Kind of ATF do you recomended for this AT
You need to use a new gasket and replace the old one so it won't leak. You can use the same ATF liquid that I use for my Tiguan.

Hi I’m new to your channel love your videos, I have a 2013 Touareg can I follow this method in changing the tranny fluid for a Touareg also is it okay just raising the front and not the back of the car? Thanks
Thank you very much. It is similar but the Touareg uses different parts that are closer to the Porsche Cayenne.
@@ejsgarage yes the same company u used sells a kit, I’ll try it out Thanks buddy!
I think they sell the Toureq parts too.
Did it today. Cork from filter remained embedded in transmission. Luckily for me I didn't rush and took my time. pulled it off before torqing new filter on. Was not that difficult. I used gravity to put the fluid in blew it in with my mouth. Didn't use pump you used. Tranny had 55K on it. was dk red when draining them black when bottled to take to recycle station. Think the fliter had most of the black material. Pan and magnets cleaned up nice. It was warm outside. Used level on pan and frame. Thanks for the video.
Great job Stephen! I am glad to hear that you are able to do your own transmission fluid change now. My pleasure 😀👍👍👍👍

Great video buddy! I have a question regarding my Passat 2014 1.8 TSI Wolfsburg Edition. I’m planing to change transmission oil sometimes soon but I was wondering is it the same procedure? Thanks!
Thank you very much. Yes, VWs uses the same fluid and the process is very similar but I will verify with the Amazon seller.
I didn't see you open the drain plug while the car was running, at the end, so that the excess fluid could drip out. Also, you should monitor with a scanner to see that the transmission fluid is about 40C when you cap it off, and the rear of the car should be up on stands, level with the front. Otherwise, you cannot correctly set the level.
I have the Autel MK808TS now which I use to see the ATF fluid temp.
So the excess is whatever comes out over the fill valve(at40C)?
We plug it after it has been operated at 40c
Don’t waste your time. This dude using bread gloves 😂😂😂
Is it possible to monitor with a thermometer and not need a diagnostic kit to refill it properly?
It was clockwise on the drain fill plug just for clarification
Great work

Hi I have 2012 VW Tiguan and I would like to change my transmission fluid but the VW service center don't want to change the said it's lifetime and if I change the fluid can cause or break my transmission. That' is true or false
It is not true that it is not lifetime.
Ok I really like to change my ATF but my problem is I don't where i can buy the blauparts transmission kit and fluid it is not available here in Amazon Canada.
If your transmission fluid is very very old and your transmission is damaged (shifting rough, slipping, or kicking), changing the fluid WILL ruin your transmission. When your clutches wear out, the clutch material gets suspended in the fluid, and often it's the only thing that is keeping the worn out clutches from slipping. If it's been over 250000 km that your haven't touched the fluid and the transmission is exhibiting symptoms of being on its way out, keep the dirty fluid in there and drive that thing to its grave. At that point, saving it would be a lost cause. It's better to change it regularly to begin with so it doesn't have to get that bad in the first place. The shop might tell you not to change it kuz they don't know how often you maintain the transmission fluid, so they sometimes refuse to do it to avoid being responsible for messing up your already broken car. Also, dealerships will make a heck of a lot more money if you send your blown up transmission in for a rebuild.

How do you know how much ATF fluid you need to put in if there is no way to check the level? You can under or overfill transmission.
When it is full, it will spill out and then close the fill hole.
@@ejsgarage Your method seemed simple in relation to Blauparts' instructions (with diagnostic tool, etc.). Have you had any problems filling it with room-temp fluid using this method? I really want to do this, but refill is my only concern.
I have no problem with the transmission until the day I traded it with porsche cayenne turbo.
@@ejsgarage Thanks for following up so quickly! I'm thinking you may have found the sweet spot in terms of how much fluid to replace. Maybe the fact that it was cool paired with it being on a slight incline (i.e., only front raised) resulted in adding just the right amount. I plan to use an infrared/laser thermometer & follow the non-VCDS method in Blauparts' instruction #23 (www.blauparts.com/blog/how-to-change-vw-transmission-fluid-09g09m-6-speed.html). I probably wouldn't have attempted this if it weren't for your video. Thanks again for sharing!
Thanks for your videos. They are very helpful.
My pleasure 😀 Thank you very much for your kind feedback
Which model transmission oil do you use ? Because I only need buy the oil
Hi Ivan, I put the link to the oil on the description. Thank you for watching my friend .
I watched your video well.
I’m going to try .by the way, how do we handel the oil we exchanged?
We take the old oil to recycling place.
Entjik good video but I have a question, how is your Tiguan shifting? Seem like you may have used too much transmission fluid. The Tiguan takes 6qts but that's not what you got from the transmission.
You never get the total amount from your transmission doing a normal oil change only a flush does that. I can assume you got about 4.5 qts so the replacement should be 4.5 qts or bottles. Easy trick is to get a gal milk jug or any other large container measure what you get from the transmission and put the same amount in. If that was your first transmission change it was a good opportunity to measure what you drained since that was the manufacturers oil level.
VW has a vag-com software your car should be level when you drain the oil and do the replacement. You put in about 6 qts then start the engine when it gets to temp the excess will drain from the overflow plastic tube. Before temp is reached you may drain 1\2 at by temp you drain another 1/2 at your truck should take about 4 to 4.5 qts tops.
Whenever you do a transmission change like this always measure what you take out and put in the same amount. One last thing shop around Blau is on the high side next time compare them to europaparts.com.
Thank you. I checked with Blau and they said 6. The car shifts fine. I have been driving for 4 to 8 hours a week from Maryland to Virginia. It shifts like butter.
I read same. Level vehicle, warm fluid to 100 degrees F. Let any excess drip out with car running in park. Probably overfilled.
I agree with you, it should be between 3-5, not 6! But the weirdest thing that europaparts.com ALSO offers 6L kits only!
How many litres of transmission fluid did you use?
I used them all but some spilled out to indicate that it was full.
@@ejsgarage Hi you are doing a great job!
I wanted to ask whether draining the PTU fluid also drains the back axle oil or that is a different job altogether?
It is a different job 😃
@@ejsgarage Thanks and pls if you have videos of that back axle oil change can you send me the link. Many thanks🙏🙏
My pleasure
Hey do a oil pump replacement, im going to do that this weekend
I haven't done that before. I need to do more research on how to do it 😀
I'm an aircraft mechanic certified, I'm just waiting for the last part of the show If I'm coorect
Must you change the gasket, filter and o-ring as well?
Yes.
Hey buddy, my tiguan is 2017 Wolfsburg Version and is the transmission fluid kit still okay to use?
It should be fine. They are using the same VW fluid.
@@ejsgarage Thank you! The fluid I think its totally fine but how about the gasket size as well as the filter and other accessories still the same?
It says that won't fit on 2017. Weird. You may want to email them.
@@Roosevelt-q8t This one will fit ATP B-466 Automatic Transmission Filter Kit (Transmission Filter)

@@ejsgarage Thank you man. I have to look for the transmission type first. You are the best!
like 11... nice video 👍Brother
Thank you very much 😀
You' re Welcome my bro 👍
Hi, great work! have you figured out the coolant problem yet?
Hi Liu. It is great to hear from you. Well my VW Tiguan water pump broke and it leaked coolant, so the dealership replaced it and changed my coolant too.
Entjik Jeffrie was it still under warranty? Anyways, the water pump for tsi engines seem to go bad sometimes...
Yes, the turbo and water pump were under the warranty.
Hi Enjik brother how are things hope you are ok ..hows Paulie and g/f cheers from Cloudy Melbourne - David
Hi Brother David! We are doing well. It looks like we are moving to Virginia soon. Polly is still needy and loving. The girls are happy that we are moving out of Maryland. How about you and your beloved wife? I hole you two are doing well. 😀
It is crazy that my channel is growing. I hope your channel is growing too.
Hi,
Is your and 2017 tiguan has regular transmission or DSG? Is tip tronic one is differ from DSG?
In my manual it says that do transmission fluid change if DSG.
Thats a very good question. I just changed it because it is in the 40k maintenance interval
@@ejsgarage thank you! So yours has automatic trans with tip tronic shifter(sort of manual style if you push gear stick to the right side at "D" position)?
Hey EJ I love ur videos. I have a question. Is the 2010 tiguan transmission fluid the same as what u done on this video?
Thank you very much. The procedures are the same but the filter may be differerent.
I have a couple of those metal pans you can buy at the car parts place for $11. 25" x 36" x 1/2" Good for catching drips, or setting those nasty parts in instead of getting fluid on the ground.
Information for buying?
Like second..nice video..help for view..thxb4
Terima kasih ya, masih berpuasa di Indonesia. Bagus ya video bukber bersama video nya di Ramamangun :)
Hi! Can you just drain the fluid without changing the filter? Thanks!?
No, the filter is dirty and needs to be replaced.
Witch oil type did you use
G 055 025 A2 transmission fluid. You can get it through the link in the description.
Where did you get the manual?
It came with the package.
How can you check the level when the car is on a slope.
Hi! I have the exact same vehicle as yours and just needed some guidance. Anything car-related is foreign to me so 😆 Could you possibly give a general guide for beginners like me? ..of all the parts under the hood that every VW owner (basically any car owner) should know about and the name of main fluids or products that you change regularly. Thank you so much in advance!
p.s. (other concerns)
1. When I turn off the engine, I can hear a fan under the hood that's just blowing. Lasts for a couple minutes only and then shuts off! What is it doing and should I be concerned?
2. Recently, it seems like I have a hard time accelerating with the gas pedal, like it has lost its power or something. I used to be able to just press lightly on the pedal, and my VW would just zoom no problem, but now it feels like it's having a hard time going even just 35mph (I even feel it vibrating it too, like the gears are working too hard 😕) Is this just a lack of fluid in the engine or something?
Hi Hannah, the fan noise is normal for the system to cool down the engine and engine hesitation may be caused by a turbo that may be going out.
1. It's about engine cooling. The dpf filter burning process was interrupted. It's not a malfunction. Common thing with TDI engines.
Hi, Nice video, Just quick long question with story.
My tiguan has 70.000 miles on it, few days ago had problem, after 2 hours of drive wrench icon appeared over transmission letter and car lost rpm and started to shift strangely and lost power, turned off the car, started it and problem was solved. after 2 hours same problem. now for two days, I'm not driving it for so long and problem has not appeared.
This morning I've brought it to VW service, they've only connected it to computer and told me that it needs change of transmission due to po730 error. I find out that m.c cause of po730 is bad quality transmission fluid or low levels of transmission fluid. VW dealers did not even investigate the problem, the told me that after error they've just called VW specialist and he, by the phone decided that it needs to be replaced.... just plane 6600 usd, I don't trust them, they had some expensive misdiagnosis before this. I'm also not sure who to trust because I think all transmission services are trying to rip you off.
What is your suggestion? tomorrow I'm planing to take it to transmission service center and just request to replace transmission oil and filters (this is what is first step for diagnosing cause of op730), but I'm still not sure that they'll do it so and not try to rip me off.
P0730 can be caused by dirty transmission fluid. I will try to change it first before buying a new transmission. As you can see, it is not that hard to change it. You can buy the kit and do it at home.
@@ejsgarage Thanks for quick response, yes that's what I'm planing to do, I will try and find some nice transmission service center with good reviews, if not, I will change it myself following your video
My pleasure. I had a bad experience with repair shops not doing their job, so the easy maintenance like fluid change. I just do it myself 😀 I hope that it will fix your issue.
