The gift is obviously for riff and Ricky guys they are a couple of friends hehe It’s a long road for us between getting games and game related things, upgrading conditions, definitely a marathon not a sprint.
I have a good sized collection, certainly nowhere near the scale of yours and others, even though it takes up a lot of space, at least it has re-sale value for your family now and in the future. People that collect or accumulate useless trinkets or fill space with other stuff don't get much for it, usually garage sale prices. I almost sold my collection because I'm starting the process of moving, and have had good offers, but I'm holding out as long as possible, hoping I can come up with a plan to not have to sell it, but at least it's there and has good value when I need money.
I feel like I'm perpetually in Stage 1, despite having many of the games from my childhood in my collection & never having sold most of them. Unfortunately for my wallet I've played a ton of games in my life as a spoiled only child who got to rent a game almost every weekend, so every so often I think of something I haven't played & want to then go to find a deal on it. Most recently it was Re-volt, but instead of getting the N64 version which I have memories of playing I grabbed the Dreamcast version as it's a newer console & presumably more rare as well (not that I really care about that). Also that's amazing about your daughter with Star Wars, reminds me of watching the original trilogy with my dad in the late 80's/early 90's all the time. I feel like my version of that with my on the way son will be Goku turning Super Saiyan. Also for a modern take on Road Rash give OnRush a try, one of my favorite racing games despite it being more about car crashes than getting first place.

I love your videos, the way you narrate is so much fun and with a good amount of genuine energy. And what you say about what means to collect echoes thoughts I have in my head about continuing to pursuit my n64 collection or even the PCE collection I so wanted to start
Hey Mort. Most recent comment so far. I know, I’m ALSO impressed. 🧐 But seriously loving the vids. Really liked your take on “grails” and “rare” when it’s all rare and grails no none of it is. A strange reality that people allow themselves to be manipulated by. Much love my guy 🥰👊👊 Ps. That ending was so cheesy I was giggling like an idiot 😂
@@MortsGarage aww thanks Mortimer! Not being a collector I get a very unique perspective of being on the outside and looking in. Whether it’s through UA-cam or people that I meet in person driving for Uber. I’ve also learned there is a MASSIVE difference between being a Fan of something and a Fanatic or Idolizing something/someone. It’s wild 😳
Just found your channel. I really enjoy the concept of this video. I’m getting to the point where I feel like enough is enough. Thanks for this rare but very valid viewpoint
Darkwatch on PS2 is one of my favorite FPSs. Old west theme with supernatural enemies? Sign me up! Personally collecting becomes enough for me when I run out of shelf space. I'm also 60 years old, realistically I already have enough games to last me the rest of my natural life. Since I'm not The Highlander as far as I know, that sets a definite time limit. Ooooo put a bunch of Final Fantasy VIII stuff in that bag for the JRPG couple! I assure you it will be well received 😉
If you liked the brothers in arms games with their squad controlling aspects, (while not on consoles) "Ready or Not" is a game that sees you as a commanding officer taking on different scenarios within a SWAT unit. A good mix of challenge and creative scenarios give a really great game! 9/10 Play as a single player style or play multiplayer as well with up to 5 others!
Prison breaks a good show. Also maybe now as a collector, you pivot to help others around you experience the magic. Just like watching your kids reaction to watching Star Wars. Not necessarily your friends who are also already heavy into collecting. But rather the random kid at the game store looking thru vintage games
Good recs! I try and help others as is :) Just did a big Switch giveaway on my last WhatNot and have a video on the channel buying someone an N64 collection :)
@@MortsGarage I did not mean to sound like I was saying you didn’t already give back! I just meant you could use that as a thing that helps you hold onto the joy of it all.
love to see hot wheels velocity x being picked up. one of my personal faves; i love when racing games have a corny little story in it. Combine that with decent enough gameplay, vehicular combat, a challenge mode, and a joyride mode with extra collectibles to find with more unlockables, i think its a surprisingly enjoyable game to play through!
Never been to a swap meet or convention. It’s fun to see ya go out and find neat things! I really never played the Wii, but I have great memories of playing wii sports. I mainly focus on switch but will sometimes get other console games but not very often. I do enjoy come across nes/snes but I don’t collect any. N64 is one of my favorite consoles so I’ll get games here and there but switch is my jam.
I often wonder if it will ever be enough. Even if I stopped collecting games, I’m 1000% sure that I would just move on to something else to fill that unfillable void. Not sure what that is or where it comes from, but I’ve got it lol
the NES is a low priority console for me. Games are a pain in the ass to get to run on the system, unlike most other cartridge based systems. Most of the good games for the system are available elsewhere with more/better features, and the colors are UGLY compared to the Master System.
Hey Mort, if you are missing Road Rash, have you heard of / played Road Redemption on the last gen? At its core it’s the same idea + more weapons and a bit more of a crazy setting but adds on a rogue like style progression. It really scratches the Road Rash itch for me.
Power of the Cardigan! ✊🏼 I really hope Camerman Mike bought that helmet. It was made for that beard! 😂 Heckuva day of hunting dude. 🤙🏻 Whoa!…The dude at the end sounds suspiciously like the guy who bought that Clay Fighter Sculptors Cut manual I had back in 2005 for $5….🤔
Such a great video, and it appears the end is near for the manual, unless that monster burns it, then I agree you may never find one. Love the content. Was listening/watching this one as I cleaned up the finds from the weekend. Made a stupid decision though, used nail polish remover (100% pure acetone) to clean marker off the back of a Gameboy game (Adventures of Star Saver), so the back is messed up now, but I will find one to replace it with (the back I mean) at some point lol. Thank you for all the amazing content, hope you're doing well and have a wonderful day. #Roadto30k
Hey Mort! If you’re looking for a new Road Rash game you should check out Road Redemption. It’s available on multiple platforms and is the same general concept of the Road Rash series. Racing and beat em up rolled into one game. Plenty of upgrades, characters, and weopons to unlock too. I highly recommend it! Thanks for all the quality content.
Currently playing Midnight Suns. X-com 2 is one of my favorite games, and I really wish it was more like that, but its still pretty good if you like turn based tactics. The dialogue is cringe to me though. Everyone is less of a character and more of like an off the shelf bad impression of what people think they sound like. Every time someone talks is always about a Macguffin, and always with some reference to something. Contrast with something like the Arkham games where everyone sounds like a real character.
Need to adjust your statement on the PSP batteries there. I have two Sony OEM batteries from around 2006/7 that are still going strong. Of course I cycle them yearly. Still getting about 3.5 hour game time life too.
@@MortsGarage They can last for a few years without cycle if kept in climate controlled rooms too, but the longer they go with out electricity through them the more capacity they'll lose.
Personally, I cant wait until you find an actual decent game on the N64. One would think that you would already have one by now considering you have the full set and all... 😏
I believe all powers should be in your bookbag, so you don't accidentally buy one more broken console. It's obviously a former blockbuster employee, they all had voices like that
I’m a Musician, and I know the feeling I have a bad case of GAS..(Gear acquisition syndrome) one bass to another guitar to another Bass and on and on, I do play them all though.
I honestly would just watch the unofficial condensed version of the prequels, the original trilogy with only the good additions and changes from the SEs, but mostly the original versions, and Rogue One/Solo if I was going to introduce someone to Star Wars today. Then maybe the good shows, like Clone Wars, Rebels, Andor and Mandalorian Seasons 1/2.
@@MortsGarage I like most of Phantom Menace, it only needs a few tweaks to be much more enjoyable. The biggest thing that the condensed versions removed was a good amount of Attack of the Clones, since most of that movie is unnecessary and boring. Overall I still think the prequels have more value in watching them over the sequels. I won't even watch those movies anymore, and would remove them from the canon if I could lol.

great freaking video dude !!! idk why but that quick seal bit got me off guard haha that was a good laugh and cant wait for next video with the manual !!! im suuuper excited !!! and also the collecting i totally agree yes of course the games are fun but its the ppl u meet and interact that make it so much fun ! also when acquiring games some come with stories from its previous owner so in a way we are collecting memories and trading our childhoods for others childhoods get me ? haha Well yeah love the vid and MORTS GARAGE IS FREAKING RAD !!! ❤🔥
Thanks Daniel!! Appreciate your comment and kind words
Right now I realize, I'm the real and original fan of the sweaters and the intern guy (where is he?). Keep retro, love from Hungary!
YES! Intern likes to remain mysterious, per company policy
@@MortsGarage Yes you right, he had to. And because he is smart, I know it.
"Will Mort indeed secure the manual, or will this nefarious figure pull a dastardly trick? Just who is this mysterious character who possesses the manual? Be sure to tune in to get the answers to these questions and more, as the saga continues! Next time on Mort's Garage!"
Need you to send me that as a voiceover STAT
What a deep and insightful look at collecting as a whole. I absolutely love the classical music in the background also.
Thank you!
@@MortsGarage no, thank you! Also as a kid I loved star wars, I'm gonna try and go through them all like you say as a whole, see if I can rekindle that love!
It’s my birthday and I get a new Mort upload! It’s going to be a good day.
Just for you!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
I took my lunch break to watch this and the end reminded me of that scene from Family Guy where Peter is negotiating a price on a coffin for a funeral lol
Haven't watched FG in forever!
@@MortsGarage I think you’d let out a good laugh over it!
Theres a super cool/weird horror game for the Wii, that exclusively released in Japan, that uses the Wii Balance Board. Other than that, the thing collects dust like I collect games.
Excellent metaphor, and never heard of this particular Japanese game
I love your videos, the way you narrate is so much fun and with a good amount of genuine energy.
And what you say about what means to collect echoes thoughts I have in my head about continuing to pursuit my n64 collection or even the PCE collection I so wanted to start
Thanks!
It's fun to be on an island with other misfit toys; keeps me coming back ;)
😊
Hahaha you very right bout the psp, very underrated and also have all my ps3 consoles 😅
So many great games!
Hey Mort. Most recent comment so far. I know, I’m ALSO impressed. 🧐
But seriously loving the vids. Really liked your take on “grails” and “rare” when it’s all rare and grails no none of it is. A strange reality that people allow themselves to be manipulated by. Much love my guy 🥰👊👊
Ps. That ending was so cheesy I was giggling like an idiot 😂
"strange reality that people allow themselves to be manipulated by" is 100% dead on!!
It’s wild 😳
@@superdave3093 YES. Idolization is real.
Just found your channel. I really enjoy the concept of this video. I’m getting to the point where I feel like enough is enough. Thanks for this rare but very valid viewpoint
Glad you’re here! This whole series has been a deep dive on the collecting mindset if you’re hungry for more. Be well - cheers!
Love the videos! I always look forward to when a new one comes out. Love everything about the channel! Keep it up!
How kind of you- thanks!!
Darkwatch is great! I played it a bunch on Xbox.
Standing mic in hand Mort is my new favorite version of Mort
Hahaha
Mort! Never have heard someone so adequately describe the phases of collecting 🙌
Thank you!
If you liked the brothers in arms games with their squad controlling aspects, (while not on consoles) "Ready or Not" is a game that sees you as a commanding officer taking on different scenarios within a SWAT unit. A good mix of challenge and creative scenarios give a really great game! 9/10
Play as a single player style or play multiplayer as well with up to 5 others!
Thanks for the recommendation 😊👊
Never mind jump scares, that seal was a jump chortle
Hahahahahaha
I don't like how American GameCube spines look upside down
Noted!
@@MortsGarage Sorry was distracted by the background in the beginning and how everything is nicely lined up and then the GC spines are upside down 😅
Prison breaks a good show.
@@SlimAdventures All good! Didn't take it negatively :)
Smashing video my friend. Can't wait too see you get it!!! ❤
Thank you!
what a crazy cliffhanger.
YUS INDEED!
love to see hot wheels velocity x being picked up. one of my personal faves; i love when racing games have a corny little story in it. Combine that with decent enough gameplay, vehicular combat, a challenge mode, and a joyride mode with extra collectibles to find with more unlockables, i think its a surprisingly enjoyable game to play through!
I am looking forward to playing it!
Love this! Happy gaming :)
I often wonder if it will ever be enough. Even if I stopped collecting games, I’m 1000% sure that I would just move on to something else to fill that unfillable void. Not sure what that is or where it comes from, but I’ve got it lol
Time to sit down and explore the void I guess ;)
@@MortsGarage sounds terrifying 😅
@@megamob5834 not as terrifying as ignoring it :)
you're EPIC Mort! great editing again! God bless you much!
God bless you too!
Great content man, i subbed!
Awesome - so glad you’re here!
UrGamingTechie’s gaming collection has taken over his house too.
Uh oh…
the NES is a low priority console for me. Games are a pain in the ass to get to run on the system, unlike most other cartridge based systems. Most of the good games for the system are available elsewhere with more/better features, and the colors are UGLY compared to the Master System.
I need to play the SMS library for sure.
Hey Mort, if you are missing Road Rash, have you heard of / played Road Redemption on the last gen? At its core it’s the same idea + more weapons and a bit more of a crazy setting but adds on a rogue like style progression. It really scratches the Road Rash itch for me.
No, but I'll be looking into it - thanks for the rec!
What up Man, you are one of the nicest people on UA-cam.
Backatcha
Power of the Cardigan! ✊🏼 I really hope Camerman Mike bought that helmet. It was made for that beard! 😂 Heckuva day of hunting dude. 🤙🏻 Whoa!…The dude at the end sounds suspiciously like the guy who bought that Clay Fighter Sculptors Cut manual I had back in 2005 for $5….🤔
Jim? Are you referencing Jim?
But yes, Twas great. Hopefully we can hunt together out here in the future
MMM is the mystery man Gabbo? Retro Rick? Chase?. Stay tuned.
Stay tuned indeed…
Such a great video, and it appears the end is near for the manual, unless that monster burns it, then I agree you may never find one. Love the content. Was listening/watching this one as I cleaned up the finds from the weekend. Made a stupid decision though, used nail polish remover (100% pure acetone) to clean marker off the back of a Gameboy game (Adventures of Star Saver), so the back is messed up now, but I will find one to replace it with (the back I mean) at some point lol. Thank you for all the amazing content, hope you're doing well and have a wonderful day. #Roadto30k
We've all been there with poor choice of marker removers - I just did this myself lol. Be well!
That's the second recommendation for it - I'm looking into it for sure!
Today I learned that Principal Strickland was in a Top Gun game. Thank you.
DUDE!!
@@MortsGarage I guess he was actually in Top Gun the movie as well. I didn't realise - only watched it twice.
Interesting…thanks for your mini review :)
Funny to see a game I used to like a lot like a jumpscare when you talk about ps1 shovelware in contrast to the better games
Hey, some people’s shovelware are others Crown Jewels so I get it ;)
Will the power sauce take a UK plug socket or is it all US plug sockets
Check their website! My wife and I love it especially for emergency uses.
Need to adjust your statement on the PSP batteries there. I have two Sony OEM batteries from around 2006/7 that are still going strong. Of course I cycle them yearly. Still getting about 3.5 hour game time life too.
NO WAY! Literally the only time I've seen that. That's awesome!
I should have expected a repeated comment/sentiment that grinds over and over again about the same thing from people who love JRPG combat
@@MortsGaragesays the guy playing 3D platformers with one attack type and one jump length 😊
@@JRPGLife😅
I believe all powers should be in your bookbag, so you don't accidentally buy one more broken console. It's obviously a former blockbuster employee, they all had voices like that
Not the worst idea tbh
I’m a Musician, and I know the feeling I have a bad case of GAS..(Gear acquisition syndrome) one bass to another guitar to another Bass and on and on, I do play them all though.
@@son0fsocal you get it. Same thing, but with like thousands of guitars
Interesting way to go about it. I still can't sit through 2, and 1 is near impossible as well.
Road Rash II love that game (I played it on the Amiga 500)
So fun!
You've just realised you've wasted your life. Tough break buddy.
Thanks man
