      Is that still a thing? Back in the day, if your team wrecked my team's car, the mechanics in pit row were grabbing wrenches and going at it. Even the crew chiefs... I thought most of that died down as tracks tried to attract more families and didn't put up with that crap anymore.

      @Ed70Nova427 Рік тому

      @@confuse9 Well that's the thing right there. It has calmed down and gotten more family oriented now a day and that's what makes this so bad.
      This sort of thing was common place back in "Those days' and that guy would have never been able to sneak up and clobber that spotter back then. Most of us in the shop on Wednesday afternoon saying to each other "Okay boy's, let's get the car ready for "Saturday Night at the Fights!". Fighting in the pits sucked. That was mid seventies through early/mid eighties. It all started changing so we could bring wives and families along. Gradually it was fun and the tracks actually started cleaning up their act as well and the money started flowin. We would actually start setting new race records because we were racing harder against each other knowing that no one is going tear someone else's stuff up on purpose and it's Joe on my right side that helped me with a set of roller rockers last week or whatever. When someone got sloppy we wouldn't go beat the stuffin's out of him, we would go talk and ask if there is something we can help him with on the car and try to get him connected to the non destructive side of racing and not hammering someone's car making more work for everyone. If he continued we would go talk to the sponsor, his guy with the money. But you know, every once in a while you get a highly emotional crew like this, destroys other guys equipment and his own. He'd spend all week straightening his cage, nerf's, bumpers leaving him no time to improve his car. When a father son crew showed up sort of new and the son was the driver and young, you had to watch the father in the pits or spotter position if the son wrecked. Most of the time it was okay, but you know, sometime a little persuading took place. Then the nineties and God forbid if it's a girl driver and she wreck's, because it's always someone else's fault. Highly emotional when a girlfriend or wife drives, not so much if it's a daughter. I do not remember wrecks during any caution even in the years of Saturday Night at the Fights. Maybe the Bird or some Rubbin but not out and out destruction and if you did it you got black flagged. This is all on Mr. Busch. I don't remember anyone wrecking someone on a caution before Kyle Busch did it right in front of God and everyone (and got away with it really). Should get demoted, one stripe taken away, one pay grade lower. Go back to racing one class below and earn your way back up. It seems now that barrier has been erased. If this continues then the caution flag needs to be eliminated, just go red, everyone stop where you are.

    Having crewed race cars for 50 years, I never understood why some teams/drivers needlessly tear up race cars for really no reason other than they are mad or screwed up. Having lived through late nights and spending money to get to next week's race - it sucks for the crew. When people get literally stomped at the track, the promotor also needs to step up, level the playing field and purge the "Bowman Gray Stadium" mentality. Maybe the crowds, racing and car count would improve - who wants to come home every week with a torn up race car.

      Coming from south central Wisconsin, with the deep, rich heritage of racing, tuning, and building anything to be faster and better, and living my entire life around it, as well as 24 years as a mechanic that became one of the few to carry the carb/valve/timing tuning ear and feel, proverbial torch, I feel fairly qualified to back up your comment to every degree possible from a younger guy, who learned from guys like you.
      Watching a fresh build get torn up to no end, no matter what it is, is saddening and really disheartening. It takes a village with children, and it takes a good team with a car or motorcycle. Nobody does this alone, and I feel as though some in this profession just can't appreciate the fact so much more than their operator skill goes into making it possible to be under those lights on a Saturday night. Finding a good driver is easy, finding a great driver is hard, but finding a team and driver that work like family together is incredibly rare when it comes to back markers like the chaos in this video is showcasing perfectly.
      I often consider getting into a metric chassis for the fun of it on the absolutely legendary short tracks of my area, but, I feel like it would take an act of god to convince me that tolerating the good old boys that tech lets through, and the hot heads that want to just make you pack up and go home because you are indeed faster, holds me back from even trying at 40 years old.
      And people wonder why the tracks are closing up all over... but, when joe nobody from backwater Wisconsin won't even take 2 and a half decades of building, fabricating, and tuning experience, a full shop, and every resource possible, sponsors if he just asked for it for a little help, and went and ran with the amateurs, that is saying magnitudes about the sanctioning groups that run this stuff in the back woods of the midwest. Don't get me wrong, you can make your way in, but, the playing field isn't nearly as even as you would imagine from the outside, and I'm sure you can at least shrug and half admit to that. I've seen it with my own eyes ice racing motorcycles, there's no way that short track guys are any less disingenuous about specs and fuel blends.

      @@rj_w21 That right there shows a severe lack of ethics and responsibility by the promoter and race officials. I have worked for many motocross tracks as an official and ALL of them will immediately disqualify and ban ANY rider that pulls such stunts as deliberately spearing someone with their bike, overly aggressive block passes (MX is also a contact sport at times, block passes and minor contacts happen a lot), or fighting on the track or in the pits, didn't matter if it was the rider, family or crew. I have personally banned about a dozen riders in my time, regardless of how "popular" they were or their points standings. Thankfully that dozen was out of literally a few thousand riders.

      He 1,000% should be charged. Real racers don’t attack a guy from behind, they don’t knock them to the ground, and then, and then, start stomping them. I mean, that is over the top psycho ridiculous shit.
      Real racers don’t blast someone under caution for a bump in the rear. I don’t agree with bump n runs, but in this instance, it wasn’t bad. It was the most text book version of a bump n run. Proper thing to do, if you were upset, was to catch him this week or later on if you are fast enough and give him a shot back. She did squeeze him in the wall, but he was barely there tbh. Under green that is.
      She tried to hook him, a total no no, real racers don’t hook, then, she hits him extremely hard under caution. While her pos husband is stomping dudes Dad. And when she tried to hook him she took herself out. She is terrible, as is her husband.

      You can’t file a restraining order on anyone except your spouse or former spouse or a family member. However, in this case, the judge may automatically issue a No Contact order, since he was arrested for assault, meaning Jake can’t threaten or run his shit mouth to Robert or Landon in person, through social media, email, etc. Luckily, we don’t have to see or hear Jake at any NASCAR sanctioned track, and hopefully his classless talentless wife, for the remainder of the season.
