interesting persepectives. I'm on a ninja400 and I'm quite disappointed in the lack of options to bridge the gap between the endless sea of naked bike hype and unforgiving ergos and streetability of proper supersports. Bikes like the FZ1 are great for crusing, have so much power but are heavy, a bit too upright, and lack the handling I want for doing some canyons. The other FZs (6, 8, 9) all have their compromises too (i'd get the FZ8 Fazer if it was actually sold in the USA instead of just the naked version). The rest in the category are too naked and get very old and annoying on the highway. I think this bike has the potential to be great and I'm looking at this along with the street triple
Yes, but when Yamaha make a bike with an R in the name, this is the best bike in the world... When Honda build a R version of a steam bicycle, this is the best Honda ever. Agreed. The Daytona name shouldnt be on a budget friendly intermediate/beginner bike. Okay, I know a few others have already mentioned this but I'll add to the chorus. For those who are pining for true supersport-spec Daytona 765, there already is one. It's called the Street Triple 765 RS (and the limited edition Moto2). It's also raced in MotoAmerica, BSB, and WSB. I know some people haven't been around as long as some of us but the Street Triple originally was just a stripped down, re-tuned Daytona 675. When Triumph cancelled the D675, they essentially put all the high-spec development into the Street Triple, particularly the RS variant. I have a first gen D675 and a '22 STRS and the main frame is nearly identical. And essentially, they are very similar bikes. Of course, the RS is more modern and has more advanced components but they are clearly of the exact same lineage. The reason there is no longer a supersport Daytona is because ALMOST NO ONE WAS BUYING THEM. Same with almost every other supersport bike. If you want Triumph to build one, there has to be a market for one. Unfortunately, only a small fraction of those asking for one will actually buy one.
It's good to see a Daytona back in the Triumph range. I'm pleasantly surprised because it's felt like the market has moved more towards retro/classic and adventure bikes. I hope it does well. I like sports bikes but have tended to buy models with sports/tourer specs than super sports because I find them more practical for regular use and also good for a long journey or holiday yet with enough sportiness for fun. The earlier Hinckley Daytonas, 900, 955 etc. prior to the 675, were less sports inclined than the R1s, GSXRs and ZZRs of the same period.

That dash is a disappointment as is the fact that quick-shift/auto-blip are optional but this still is getting added into the running for my next bike. Love the influx of less aggressive sport bikes we're seeing!
That dash is in some ways more functional than the fancy one on my Street Triple RS with the stupid tachometer (although I think that is getting addressed for the new model year). The one on the Trident/Tiger Sport 660/D660 is an LCD/TFT hybrid but it works well. Agree on the quick shifter and I wish the suspension was more adjustable. But Triumph sets up even the non-adjustable stuff well as long as you're not really heavy or really light. Should be a fun bike.
Daytona fanboys are forgetting, this is a $9200 bike. The last Daytona 675, not the up-spec R version, was $12k in 2016, which is nearly $15.4k in todays money with inflation. The R version would be nearly $18k today. Of course a $9200 bike isn't going to be up to par with a bike that would cost $6k more. At that inflation adjusted price point, a new Daytona 675 would be competing with several modern liter bikes and supersports like the base Gixxer 1000 and 750, the CBR 1000RR, and the Ninja 1000 or ZX-6R. It would cost a few grand more than every other middleweight supersport currently on the market, while having similar or lower power figures. As it stands, the Daytona has the best power/price ratio in the entire middleweight segment. When you look at the bike, think about what it is now, and stop comparing it to what it once was.
Against the competition in the market right now... This will probably be a pretty good choice. I think it will sell. But it's always disappointing when the sequel isn't as great as the original.
@@tominglis9690 that is true, I mean look at its competition, in its price range, at least here in the US. There's no point mentioning the Ninja 650, as its not even in the same category as most modern middle class bikes anymore, with its underpowered engine and touring bike ergos. The ZX-4RR is overpriced in the US for the castrated underpowered version we got compared to the Euro/Aus version, and will also cost a touch more OTD. The R7 has less power and tech, but a more aggressive track oriented riders triangle for the same MSRP. The GSX-8R is the closest thing the 660 has to competition from Suzuki, and still produces 10 less crank HP, while costing a few hundred $ more at MSRP. It does have that 270 crank though which sounds nice. The Honda CBR 650 is the only real competition the Daytona has at least for power/price, and the issue with that is Honda never produces enough bikes to meet demand, particularly their 650 range. With the new 2024 model expected to run at $10.5k MSRP, the bike is most likely going to end up $2-3k more OTD than the Daytona, for about the same power. Also, Honda's are all gluttonous overweight tanks, so the power/weight ratio is going to be worse. Aprilia has the RS660 which actually beats it in terms of power and tech, but the price gap is so wide at $11.5k MSRP, the dealer network so small, maintenance costs so high, and the brand itself so relatively unknown to newcomers, that most newer riders looking for their first big bike will completely ignore it. TLDR: All of the Daytona's competition is either overpriced, underpowered, some combination of both, or lacking in availability.
We need an RS model with sportier colors, single seat option, akrapovic exhaust and lighter weight. Otherwise the Aprilia RS660 is a better option at least for me anyway
Think: Aprilia RS660 for 3K less! Personally, if the riding position isn't too difficult, I certainly would've added this to the very short list of potential bikes. On paper, the ONLY variance is weight, w/ the RS660 being 43Lbs. lighter! At $8,600, it's a great value. Oh, it's pretty sexy looking to boot. Maybe 'silk white' and consider it a fresh canvas for some bright, splashy primary colors. I think they're going to sell quite well, heck- I can't think of anyone who wouldn't love riding it.
Rethink: Not as many electronics as the Aprilia RS660 let alone the cruise control and the up and down shifter. I’ll stick around with my RS660 bonjourno! 🇮🇹
This bike is going to be a real hit in the sector. Triumph have done an incredible job. As for the ´Daytona´ tag goes, if it had the 81hp powerplant the answer would be NO, this 95hp engine sneaks in there with a great torque curve. I think it´s worthy of it.
I have a 2013 675r which sees the odd track day but mostly lives in the garage. I've never sold it because the engine at high revs is just glorious. I like the look of the new one, but it's not living up to the name.
I don't think I would want to take phone calls while using a device like Cardo while riding. Motorcycling is already dangerous enough without the distraction of a phone call. I personally put my phone in my BMW's pannier so there are no distractions.
It's what it is a cheap new lowish powered sport bike which looks similar to many others. Hardly the game changer Triumph said they were unavailing though. Be interesting to see how it compares to the new Suzuki GSX-8R, Aprilia RS660, Honda CBR650r and Yamaha R7? 🤔
I have been wishing for Triump to put a full fairing on the 765 RS. But they did it with the 660 instead. But i still think this new Daytona is really nice.
Rode 2007 Triumph Daytona 675. There were far better bikes from Japanese Big 4...but what it set apart from them, and what made it better was the SOUND! Metal griding, high pitched, thumping and roaring sound. Gone is this once-an-awesome sound of triple from Triumph...
Always thought they should bring this back. I just think we minimize how much we have to like the dealership to get one. Out here in Portland, I just grew out of love with them, with all the added/bogus fees. It looks nice though! Just think they should’ve added a bit more horsepower. With that said, I’ll keep my Z900rs Cafe.
This and the Augusta F3 have the lines I’m after. I always like the slim, round and sharp edges. It’s just the refinement and tech im after in a newer bike; not the newest outlandish styling
Riding well be the proof, but this may be a brilliant move for Triumph! The last 675 Daytona was a wonderful expensive bike that didn't sell well. However, a 10k sport bike may sell in the numbers they need. In the past, Triumph has gotten a lot out of modest components with careful tuning and development. If that's the case here, it may be what the market needs. The first Daytona was a 500cc twin that was overshadowed by the 650 twin - but the 500 won the race the bike was named after
nice machine, and about time ,i`ll look forward to your road test, see how it stacks up against the 675 ,god only knows why they discontinued that daytona, so it needs to punch its weight!
Looks good ❤ will be a direct rival for the cbr650r. But in my opinion it would have gained much more attention if they made it like a mini speed triple rr instead of going for a fully faired daytona.
Ah man - In my opinion not what I would have liked the Daytona name stuck onto, but looks like a bike I would have loved when starting out. Sporty, and street focused. Not going to rip your head off, but something that looks sexy! Nice work, shame they used the name Daytona though imo.
While this bike dosent seem all that mind blowing for countries without license restrictions like USA countries Like Australia benefit from smaller displacement by like this which can be used on P plates. I think this is a great addition for newer riders
I don’t know… this seems like a miss for Triumph. Definitely a good bike for the beginner market but they shouldn’t have slapped the Daytona badge on it.
I love it, it`s what people have been crying out for for years, a mid sized no frills sporty middleweight, which is more road friendly than a full on supersport bike. I wonder whether they have any idea`s about making a 900 version based on the 900 Tiger engine?.

TLDR: All of the Daytona's competition is either overpriced, underpowered, some combination of both, or lacking in availability.
congrats on the video, booking mine in Brazil for may debut
We need an RS model with sportier colors, single seat option, akrapovic exhaust and lighter weight. Otherwise the Aprilia RS660 is a better option at least for me anyway
For 900€ more you can buy a Street Triple R and you actually get a Daytona frame and subframe
The older Daytona was a real badass. This one is definitely the timid watered down version..
The new Triumph CB650 R looks so good.... oh i mean Daytona....
Well hope Triumph put the Daytona treatment on the street triple platform again
it isnt even out and already looks outdated
Would you like it better with a wannabe lookalike of a yamaha mt series type of weird new age post apocalyptic front end?
Entry level..
Not everyone likes optimus prime/ cyclops style yamaha/ suzuki "headlights"
Neo-retro :))
i think it looks good
Man... I was actually waiting and I knew that you will post a video talkin about this bike.. And there.. You have the bike already in flesh ❤❤
If you get to ride one soon, check if they have figured out that delayed throttle response that the trident had.
This bike is going to be a real hit in the sector. Triumph have done an incredible job. As for the ´Daytona´ tag goes, if it had the 81hp powerplant the answer would be NO, this 95hp engine sneaks in there with a great torque curve. I think it´s worthy of it.
Brilliant, I'm buying one. Got to keep the tradition going my dad had a bonnie 650 late fifties I think.
Is it a real Daytona ? No
Is it gorgeous for what it is ? Yes
I love the way this Daytona looks, and they tuned the engine perfectly compared to the Trident 660. I want one.
There's any rumors of the 765 Daytona?
Perfect everyday bike !! Return of sport bikes ❤️ no more expensive trails
I have a 2013 675r which sees the odd track day but mostly lives in the garage. I've never sold it because the engine at high revs is just glorious. I like the look of the new one, but it's not living up to the name.
Daytona 660 < Aprilia 660 😅❤
I can't wait to see another review of this, once you are able to take one of these out for a proper ride.
I regret that no blue colour is avaiable. But the red one is beautiful.
I don't think I would want to take phone calls while using a device like Cardo while riding. Motorcycling is already dangerous enough without the distraction of a phone call. I personally put my phone in my BMW's pannier so there are no distractions.
I think they nailed it - 9 out of 10. Should have had fully adjustable forks and shock to give it 10/10
It's what it is a cheap new lowish powered sport bike which looks similar to many others. Hardly the game changer Triumph said they were unavailing though. Be interesting to see how it compares to the new Suzuki GSX-8R, Aprilia RS660, Honda CBR650r and Yamaha R7? 🤔
The headlights is looks a like CBR 1000rr
Great video and another great bike from Triumph, in my opinion the best all round bike manufacture.
Just knew motobob would have the first video!
Brilliant! I believe that for that price, it's going to be unrivalled!
Looks like, if Honda CBR 650 made in china instead of Japan.
I'd rather stay with my Daytona 675R, i will admit I'm a bit disappointed that this Daytona 660 is not a true successor for the Daytona name
I have been wishing for Triump to put a full fairing on the 765 RS. But they did it with the 660 instead. But i still think this new Daytona is really nice.
Everything looks good - except for that dash. It just looks outdated (even on the Trident)
I will say this is the most beautiful looking motorcycle right now in the market.
First to see Daytona comeback's here!
Love it. Perfect road bike with a decent hint of sport, and 90bhp is spot on for the road
@8:45 what a 'lovely' weld!
I don’t know I feel disappointed
This and the Augusta F3 have the lines I’m after. I always like the slim, round and sharp edges. It’s just the refinement and tech im after in a newer bike; not the newest outlandish styling
Riding well be the proof, but this may be a brilliant move for Triumph! The last 675 Daytona was a wonderful expensive bike that didn't sell well. However, a 10k sport bike may sell in the numbers they need. In the past, Triumph has gotten a lot out of modest components with careful tuning and development. If that's the case here, it may be what the market needs. The first Daytona was a 500cc twin that was overshadowed by the 650 twin - but the 500 won the race the bike was named after
Let's hope it sells well and Triumph bring out a full fat version with a bright / bolder colour scheme.
Great breakdown and interesting bike. Driving a Trident 660 i'm looking forward to get one from my dealer for testing.
Is there cornering ABS an cornering traction control?
I saw other announcements on other channels but waited to see yours first! 😁
nice machine, and about time ,i`ll look forward to your road test,
see how it stacks up against the 675 ,god only knows why they
discontinued that daytona, so it needs to punch its weight!
New Honda Daytona 660 looks great
Looks good ❤ will be a direct rival for the cbr650r.
But in my opinion it would have gained much more attention if they made it like a mini speed triple rr instead of going for a fully faired daytona.
What are those handlebars? My daughter’s plastic tricycle has better ones.
All of us who are hoping for a new Daytona 765 super-sport...."Well, that's disappointing."
All of what 3000 of you world wide ? This Daytona is for people who know the difference between the road and race track so ..
Lets hope this is the precursor to a Daytona 765...
Ah man - In my opinion not what I would have liked the Daytona name stuck onto, but looks like a bike I would have loved when starting out. Sporty, and street focused. Not going to rip your head off, but something that looks sexy! Nice work, shame they used the name Daytona though imo.
I absolutely love Triumph, but their supersport bikes always look like they were designed a decade ago a few minutes after they're launched.
Reminds me of 2006/7 R6
While this bike dosent seem all that mind blowing for countries without license restrictions like USA countries Like Australia benefit from smaller displacement by like this which can be used on P plates. I think this is a great addition for newer riders
If i was still a beginner i would take the R7 of this. Currently riding a Daytona 675 OG and waiting for the release of the R9
Amazing!
I'd love to see this compared to the Aprillia RS660
Perfect for highway touring
I don’t know… this seems like a miss for Triumph. Definitely a good bike for the beginner market but they shouldn’t have slapped the Daytona badge on it.
Woah its the mighty Gaytona!
I love it, it`s what people have been crying out for for years, a mid sized no frills sporty middleweight, which is more road friendly than a full on supersport bike.
I wonder whether they have any idea`s about making a 900 version based on the 900 Tiger engine?.
Looks awesome!!
Let’s be honest. This kind of sportbike is way suitable for daily usage, stop acting like you go track riding on weekly basis💀
Judging by comments sections on this bike introduction videos, there are thousands of potential 675r supersport buyers! Oh my 😂🥹 who would have thought
I have a 675 Daytona 2010 SE Edition. I wish they bring back the old styling.
Watching from india.❤❤❤❤
Really impressed with triumph 660 models , ADV version next??
Is the white glossy?
It‘s a small Sprint, not a Daytona, but the latter is the more renowned name
Excellent summary Bob. I was hoping much more for a Trident with the 1200 engine. But I guess due to the nice styling and price point it will sell very well.
the quality of the exhaust weld at 1:58 🙃
what do you think vs the Aprilia RS660?
Looks good and price is attractive.
@1:58 what the hell is that weld?
I'm still waiting for that R9! 😄
Just the thing for spirited urban combat sporting.
95 horse isn't bad. Good for the class for sure.
I've got Triumph branded callipers on a 99 ST
I think the buell firebolt had some say in the build of this bike
It looks very good, nice design.
