    *I CAN'T BELIEVE I FORGOT TO TALK ABOUT THIS!* As of this newly updated 2021 generation Rockwood Roo models now feature Azdel Composite paneling in their sidewalls like a Geo Pro!
    Azdel is NOT currently used in the Mini Lite, Ultralite, or Signature travel trailers or fifth wheels however. Though I suspect that'll start happening in future model year updates!

      If possible, an outdoor kitchen would be nice to add to the 233. Don't know if they can find a way to make that work, but I would love that feature. Also, do they still make the model with the private back bedroom? Heard they discontinued that model. Hope not. That was a really neat floorplan.

    That option for the larger compressor fridge and the inverter is a no-brainer in my book. Free refrigeration and powered outlets when boon-docking, definitely worth a few hundred extra bucks in the beginning. I assume these are the new options available for the entire line of Rockwood Roo's, 24WS included? It still miffs me that no manufacturer is installing heat pumps instead of ac units. On a model like this especially, if you are in a park on a chilly day run the heat pump, boon-docking, run the propane furnace. Make it an option at least, it couldn't add that much as a factory install.

    Back in 2014, I got a Rockwood roo 21ss, and they are doing just as good as they used to, and i mean that in a good way! Just upgraded to the one in this exact video, and its amazing to have 3 popouts for the whole family to have a bed space, and still be able to keep that table usable all the time, instead of it being a bed.

      @@DaveKerwin77 If the battery disconnect is left "on," then yes it will keep the battery topped off (quite nicely in fact). The 190w solar package rockwood is offering now is something Jayco has been using for two years. It hits the statistical median of users & allows effectively indefinite use of 12v systems under normal circumstance.

    Hybrid are interesting, they have a lot of space in a short box due to the beds being a close cousin to pop up camper beds. I don't mind the tent like material, I tent camp now, the main thing I worry about is putting those things away wet, we all know mother nature will sometimes dump rain or snow on the very morning you need to pack up and leave your site. I do like the advantages of the shorter size, and you can turtle if you desire or need to. Grizzly bear country would be a good time to turtle.

    I would go with the absorption refrigerator then the 12v. We do a lot of parc and reserve camping up here in Canada and when you have cloud cover or rain with temp 0 to 15 degrees for days your relying a lot on those batteries for your furnace, lights, water pump and accessories. Last thing you want is a fridge that doesn’t work.. I would do the solar upgrade but keep the absorption refrigerator. We never found our fridge in our hybrid small. We vacuum seal a lot of our meals and freeze stuff, we can go 7-9 days with 2 adults and 2 children with the food… Works for us.

    Two solar panels and the 12V compressor refrigerator is a must have, travel with it on. I love the griddle outside. A breathable tent fabric like Sunbrella to prevent condensation might be nice. I'm guessing condensation might not be a problem with the two big fans and air-conditioning. I prefer the optional table, maybe 4 6V batteries. I love the high quality.

    12v fridge option
    What would be really cool is if the front bed could be a hard side slide out and the back 2 can be the soft side tents. Even if it makes it a little longer.
    Because then you can run as a hard side for bear and sound protection, but when you have to bring some big adult kids with you you have pop out bedrooms.
    What do you think rockwood and Josh?

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  4 роки тому

      A hardside slide is quite literally not possible in the model in place of any of the beds. There's not enough room for the beds to retract w/o hitting something else.
      * Front bed would conflict with the slide
      * Side & Rear beds would conflict with the bathroom
      I think something like a murphy bed bunk model is likely the best solution to folks seeking "hardside hybrids"

    having the 12V fridge and solar would be something that I would request. Also, there is a company that makes covers for the beds to reflect the sun and keep it cool or just the opposite it will keep them warm which the A/C or heat will not have to work as hard. Everything has been in full production since quarantine lifted.
      There was a backlog of demand pent up from quarantine that decimated summer inventory supplies nationwide. To give you an idea of the 706 RVs we had in stock when quarantine lifted we currently have about 87 on hand of which a bunch have purchases pending.
      Everything is selling as soon as it lands. Had a Freedom Express 257BHS land the other day. Sold in less than 6 hours.
      We've had several used Rvs hit our consignment inventory and sell before I could even put the camera to them. I've never seen anything like it. Our lot is a ghost town, but not because we aren't ordering RVs. The MFGs just can't get them here.

    I had a 2009 Roo several years back and we loved it but the bed door seals would leak and eventually delaminated the fiberglass on the doors. Hopefully they've improved the door seals but the use of Azdel should eliminate the fear of delamination. BTW, I'm now on my 3rd Rockwood. They are great value compared to the competition.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  3 роки тому

      Something to consider -- Azdel doesn't guarantee protection all delam. A leak is still a leak. Maintaining the RV proactively is always the best practice regardless of what's under the skin.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd

      Regarding Sealing: No different than slides. Regular seal conditioner recommended with your seasonal upkeep routines.
      Regarding comfort: There's no way for me to answer that question. Some people love them. Some hate them. You need to test bedding yourself to answer that I think.

    • @TalentDevelopment100

      Mattresses aren't super comfy so we brought foam mattress toppers for each queen and they work great. Depending on your preference, you can go between 2 and 4 inch thickness and experiment with either the camper mattress on top or underneath or the foam mattress.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  4 роки тому +1

      *SOLID SLIDE OPTION?* I am aware of no such option to replace a hybrid bed in any RV brand. Rarely you'll find rear bed slides, but they're kind of gimmicky and don't really serve to enhance a model much (but they do add a lot of weight and cost). Murphy Bed bunkhouse models like the 2509S are really the best answer to the question I think. They give you much of the benefits of a hybrid camper w/o the soft sided materials.
      *FRIDGE/SOLAR/INVERTER:* TY for the input! We'll definitely be seeing a measure of them here moving forward!!

    My husband and I want to invest in a camper. We really like the Roo 233s but we own a V6 Durango with a max towing capacity of 6200. Can’t afford to get a new vehicle on top of a camper. I’m worried of putting too much strain on our engine and transmission by maxing out the weight capacity if we invest in the 233s. The other camper we really like is the Rockwood HW296 which is obviously lighter but the Roo 233s is our #1 pick. What are your thoughts? Would we be okay with the 233s or should we go with the HW296?

      Haylett RV Towing trailers I’ve done all my life (more than my husband ironically) but I’ve never towed a camper trailer. This will be new for both of us. We live in Wyoming so our local camping areas will be well established camp grounds as well as lakeside camping but being in Wyoming, everything is at least 2+ hours away. Utah and Idaho would be the other states we’d go to because of family and they are 5 hours away just to the state line. Good traveling distance. I would say at least 4 or 5 times during the summer at most.

    • @JoshtheRVNerd
      @JoshtheRVNerd  4 роки тому

      @@audreyseegmiller9570 Hmm... Given what you've shared I believe you'd be okay. You'd know it's back there, but with your towing experience it doesn't sound like anything you'd struggle handling.
      I am curious about your decision between a 233S Roo and HW296 Highwall -- there's such a huge difference between the two!

    • @audreyseegmiller9570
      @audreyseegmiller9570 4 роки тому

      Haylett RV That’s awesome to know!
      The reasons we picked these two out, after lots of looking, was a few reasons for both.
      HW296 - It’s a pop up. We both grew up with one so we are familiar with it and how it works. We like the high wall part of it and the pull out dining area. We are a family of 4 (6 including the dogs) so this would be perfect. Weight of the trailer played a part because we only have a V6 so that was a concern.
      233s - My husband talked about having a hard wall trailer so we started looking and that’s when I came across the Hybrids. The thing we love about this one is my sister lives in the area and it would give us that extra room for her and her family if they decided to tag along, which really would be most of the time if not every time. The 296 would work, just more crammed which isn’t a big deal but having that extra room would be nice. The set up is a lot easier with the 233 and the fact it has 3 beds is very appealing.
      We feel both would work for us.
      I have also looked at the Roo 183 but it doesn’t have the pull out dining area which we liked.
