I'm glad to know what real owners think about this trailer. All the information about how much storage you have is really useful. Great video, you did a good job. Sending my best to your children, and hoping they are building lots of wonderful memories.
We have the same trailer. I converted the closet into a pantry. I got those wire grid cube things. Cut one side of a few grids the width of the cabinet Zip tied some grids around to fit the length and width inside. Then fit this inside the cabinet. Then zip tie grids to the frame to make shelves. I measured items like boxes and cans so I knew where to zip the shelf. We also purchased a rolling cart. Metal with wood butcher block top. It fits in the space between the bathroom and closet with the slide closed. We put screw eyes in the wall in front of the bed around the storage opening there. Then use heavy duty bungee cords to hold in place. Cover the top with a blanket so as not to ding the walls. Gives us a great cooking prep station and ton# more storage.
Love the video man. I agree that there is a strangely low number of videos on these trailers. Appreciate all the tips for storage!! Our 233S is getting delivered some time in February
I turned our closet into a pantry. We took wire grid and cut to fit horizontal. Zipp tied pieces to create sides and back. Then zipp tied the horizontal pieces at various spaces to accommodate boxes, cans and whatever else we take for food. Installed a battery motion light to see inside better a night.
That's a great idea. We have been pretty fortunate to not need more pantry space (for now). We usually store all bedding in the closet while traveling and then use it as a closet while camping. But converting to usable pantry space makes a lot of sense as well.
Definitely agree. We wish there were more owner videos. My wife has been trying to find reviews in looking at a new camper for when the kids are older, but can't find any.
Nice tour. I have a 21SS as well. I put A removable dowel with eye hooks in the shower to use as a wardrobe and added shelves to the “wardrobe“ and use that to store pantry items. When I use the shower I simply remove the dowel with the clothes attached to it. It is my best mod yet. Try it, I think you’ll like it.
Thanks for sharing what you had to do for condensation on cold nights and to keep tent ends cooler. I had a pop up 35 years ago without air. So always left flaps partially open for airflow. I'm considering buying a Roo 235s with new 12v refrigerator and factory solar. What I liked most about the pop up was when it rained. Very relaxing hearing rain on canvas. All the best.
@@DianesPaperArt I think I found the solution in someone else's video. There are small low cost dehumidifiers by Eva-dry and others that plug in and have a small water collection reservoir. Water vapor from your breath is condensating on canvas. Hopefully this helps.
What a great video lots of good information and details.I’ve been looking at the rock woods and I like the 23FL. I especially like what you did with the solar blankets on each end over the beds so you can stop the heat penetration and let the air conditioner do it’s job.
Thanks for the feedback Roy! We linked the PUGs in the video if you need a recommendation. We bought the super high wind version which are rated over 25 mph winds. However, we had them on the night after this video through a tornado which touched down within ~.5mi and they stayed just fine.
Thank you for this review! I love these trailers and you’re right - there’s no reviews out there by owners. I’d love to know if you’re still liking this trailer.
We still enjoy our camper a lot! We even stayed in it last summer from end of June to mid-September last year. We are, of course, always updating some things and will be making some changes to it this summer. But we love this camper and really don't have any complaints!
Enjoyed the review and video. Is it possible that you could post a video or info on using the camper without the beds folded out? Or maybe just one end folded out? I'd like to see it from the inside (where do the mattresses go when beds are up) and from the outside. Also how much trouble letting the beds out and return. My buddy has a much older (1980s) similar type setup which I like but the inside is pretty cramped, no slide out etc. Maybe another video out there.... Thanks again
Are you still happy with your purchase today? We are looking at the different Rockwood Roos and we're wondering about long term ownership and or feeling the need to upgrade.
For me, location really makes this camper. It's tolerable in the southeast where we currently are, but it was much nicer in the west, i.e Colorado where the ac/ heat weren't necessary for most of the time and humidity was lower. We still love this camper, but as our location changes, so do our priorities. This is a great 3 season camper in the south (summer being the out season) and a decent 4 season one in the west. The heated seats made the difference for us in the Colorado mountains when it was low 30s every night for our month stay. It's high ground clearance allows you to go further off road than most and the toy hauler is really advantageous
@@lifeexistentially6004 Thank you so much for your prompt reply! Your answers really helped tremendously. We're on the west coast but I'm not a big fan of summer camping unless we're headed to high elevations where it doesn't get above the 80s. If you ever get to Michigan a great rv dealership that deals with rockwood rv is Heylett auto and rv in coldwater Michigan they can help you with your rv entertainment system if things are not going your way
So funny enough, we took it in for some warranty work. Then while we had it out for memorial day, my wife happened to push some random button and now everything works 🤣
Thanks for the review. We have been looking to upgrade from our Keystone passport hybrid. If you don’t mind us asking, about what price range does your model settle in at?
I have found best price from RV wholesalers. Between $20k - $25k but you have to use their financing. They said in a video that dealers get a big kickback from banks and they pass it on to the customers. I'm looking at the 235s which has outside kitchen, fireplace and 43 in TV. Cost is $24,000 from them.
@@cassiekrusemark3611 I ended finding a dealer only 20 minutes from the Rockwood factory in Indiana that charges even less called Wanna RV. The only reason I looked was that it will take 10 weeks to get our 2 Roo's (my son's and mine) so we wanted Spring delivery. Wanna RV can arrange Spring delivery. All the campgrounds are closed in the area in Mid November and we want to make an adventure out of getting our Roos together. I was looking forward to that lakefront state campground right by RV Wholesalers.
Thank you!! I have some questions as I want to convince the wife to trade up. We bought a 2019 Rockwood HW camper last year, so my questions are from our initial week long trip up to CO. Have you had issues with the square head screws anywhere? Is there any protection for the wiring underneath the trailer? Ours were ziptied, 5 minutes into forest roads and all of that mess was dragging. To be honest, we are both tent campers our whole lives, this was our first camper purchase. So I thought it was odd to not walk the unit or anything prior to paperwork, I wouldnt buy a car without seeing and driving it first. Did you get a walk through before or after purchase? Our electric jack blows the fuze on lifting and its slow, so I just use the crank. If you have the couch folded out, nobody could use the bathroom, right? Or is there enough room? Did you look at any other front haul hybrids before this one? Finally, have any of the lap joints on the roof separated already? Roo seems to be a much better build than the HW popups, thanks the great walk through!
Thanks for commenting. The only issue i have with the square head screws was finding a bit for them. None of them have come loose so far. I havent found an issue with the wiring underneath the trailer, and it does have a plastic skirting attached underneath. We have traveled mainly on paved roads so far, but there have been no issues at highway speed or otherwise with wiring. The dealership should have done a walk through with you prior to signing the paperwork. I was given one, though only on battery power, and without a DVD to test the entertainment system. I have no issues with my jack. The electric works fine and is fast enough IMO. With the Couch folded out, you can still access the bathroom, but the door only opens about half way. Still with the door closed you can move around to the rear bunk, though it may be more challenging. We researched for months before picking this RV, looking at all toy haulers in the process. To my knowledge, This and the Shamrock (also forest river) are the only ones in this design. We liked it particularly because of the aluminum construction of the frame vs. other ones which were wood. We have not had an issue with lap joints so far, but when we get out into the smoky mountains later this year, we will do another video on how far out we can get with this size trailor. I hope i have answered all of your questions! Happy trails!
