In this unedited video, I do a demonstration of an abstract watercolour background, with the addition of some mark making using water-soluble and non-water-soluble crayons.
I pull a card from my Art Poetry 71 Artist card deck, as well as, an affirmation deck called "the Little Frog's Guide to Self-Care by Maybell Eequay.

For reference, I show one of my finished artworks that has been mounted to a wood panel and finished with a few coats of wax.

Thank you Allison, it is always a pleasure to get to hang out with you and get inspired!
I’m so glad you were able to enjoy some creative time!
Hello Allison. When i see that on UA-cam there is a video its makes me happy. Thank you.
Thank you for watching!
2 more gorgeous backgrounds - another great hour of creative, peaceful time with Allison - I needed this after the day at work I had today :) Stay warm and happy and the videos coming when you can.
I am so glad you were able to relax and enjoy a bit of creative time.
No tips for you unfortunately, but a lot of gratitude for sharing this great video with us.❤
Love that art poetry card! The blue is stunning, just like the sides of your cradle frames.. Like those small cradle board frames. Ir's an eye hook screw. You can find at local hardware. Nice idea to add ribbon and hang on wall. Appreciate you sharing your cards and other artists cards or calendars. Reinvent yourself is exactly what you've done. Uppercase magazine looks awesome! Need a subscription.... So much you share, it's amazing and inspiring...Want to try it all. Love the blue paint and pencil you used in both these demo paintings today. Love Cathy Nichols art as well. thanks again for sharing.
Thank you for all the lovely comments and the information about the eye hook screw. You have been a wealth of inspiration and encouragement and I appreciate you Cindi!!
Your videos are so rich. It is always a gift for me. Merci 😊
I am so happy you are enjoying them! Thank you for watching.
Hi, Allison. I’m brand new to your channel. I paint from bed due to chronic pain. It’s a bit messy 😂 but it helps me on the days I can do it. Your words at the end blessed my heart. I want so badly to be able to paint sitting up, but for now, God has me lying on my side. And I still can manage with watercolor pencils, markers, tiny watercolor pallets, etc in small sketchbooks.
Anyway, enough. But thank you and I’m so happy to find your channel. ❤🙏
Oh, I can't imagine how hard that must be. Chronic pain is just all encompassing... Thank you for taking the time to write and encourage me. I hope you find much distraction and joy in creating "freely" due to your limitations. xx
Hi Allison, I too received my copy of Uppercase today and am so excited to flip through it! A nod to you for showcasing this magazine on your channel it is because of you that I ordered a subscription-thank you 😊. Love all of your videos ❤
I'm so happy to hear that you will be enjoying the magazine! You will love it!
Bless all your followers who are battling health issues. Stay strong.
been reviewing bob burridge videos, using supplies more freely, thkg you in my head for finishing pieces ...
I am so glad!
Love how you adhered the artwork to the wooden panel. I’m curious if you needed to use a fixative spray on your artwork before waxing?
That is a great question - I did use a fixative called Spectrafix. Its low odour, non toxic mist spray, made with casein.
Oh that sounds much better than the stuff I run outside to spray, thank you.
Great video Allison.
How do you do dendritic pattern on watercolor?I’ve done it with acrylics but not with watercolor.
I had accidentally stumbled on that reticulated/dendritic technique- and am still undecided if I will share/teach it... but possibly one day... You may find it when you are creating too!
@@allisondawrantwhat color is the blue neo color 2?
Hi Allison, I was wondering if you could give me the name of the company in Montreal where you purchase these cradled panels, I tried looking at our local Michaels store and Artist Emporium but couldn't find them....thanks. I love hanging out watching your videos. I have a deck of your cards which inspire me daily.
Yes- Hello Anne! Thanks for the nudge as I meant to link the full website. Here it is :www.apollongotrick.com/en/products/wood-panels
There are many Canadian art stores that carry these and likely ship worldwide.
I just added a few more links in my description. Deserres has 4x4 gallery wide cradled panels, and many other sizes.
Hi Allison. I don’t see the almanac calendar on your link.
There is no link to purchase it- every year, each of the contributing artists sell it on their own website/ on their own terms. They sell out fast. My artist friend Christine Karpiak is my source and i linked her website for inquiries. Are you in Calgary if I remember correctly? If so, email me ?
