- Mimi and I FINALLY hit the drag strip to start dialing everything in! We have new Engine, Turbo's, Wheels, Tires, Rear End, ECU everything! Was kinda scary and the track wasn't prepped all that well but we still started to get her moving and ran the our best time yet!

I've spent close to $200k on my 4wd and track cars have never interested me. I've been watching your content for about a year and today my wife walks in and catches me watching this video, all she said was "if we are getting into track cars I'm driving them". I think Emelia is pretty cool, working on and loves driving these cars fast. Awesome! At age 61 I gave up my fast cars 2 years ago, but it never leaves your blood. Doesn't matter what you drive, not a day goes by that I don't think about turbos and nitrous. Nice to see Alex there too, he rented out the whole track, cool! I cracked up when Emelia said once we can hook in the quarter-mile...lol

I feel along with traction you need a higher stall convertor. It just isn't violent in the initial hit and 1/8th like a car with that power should be.

i think she over killed the c8 with that big carbon fiber plenium and them huge new turbos simply not enough cid to run that she should of spent the money on a air conditioned inter cooler like the dodge demon has in it that would of made some more hp the bigger turbos and plenium with a 427 would of just slowed it down maybe take a 600 cid engine to run them big turbos she colud run one of them big turbos run all 8 pipes into it and gain some headway
Hi Emelia its hard to see fro the videos but I think you could do with some more weight transfer to the rear to help with the launch. If your front shocks have rebound adjustment you could try loosen that up a bit help the front lift for that better 60 ft.

When you get wheel spin, pedal to let it recover and stay in the same gear, you need more ground speed before you catch the next gear.

But I guarantee the track wasn't prepped right. Quarantine life. But they did get all your money. C8 should be at 6.40s. Would of been worth it doing it illegal and paying the ticket
Can't tell what tires you have but try them at 18psi if they're drag radials. And tell your buddy to turn the ac off at the track! Doesn't do anything but leave water all down the track. But a little harder burnout and see where that puts you!
It looks like nobody else is saying it, but I will. Ride the gears out! When the car spins just back off a bit or pedal it until it hooks, you don't have to shift so soon. By shifting too early at too low of a speed the car is coming out of the power band when it hits the next gear. Trust yourself and the car, then you'll get it. Good job overall for your first time out though.

Hey phil here from canada again, i was thinking should try adjustable coil overs, so each pass you can ajust it till it lanch straight and play with tire pressures till it launches straight. Just food for thought cheers

Hi Emelia, Mimi needs to do a bigger burnout to get the tyres warmed up. Will also pay to lower the tyre pressure. The burnout at 16:00 was good just need to roll out of the water box before the burnout. Love the channel btw

Roll out of the water first then do the burnout. Stand on the pedal when you engage the line lock. You won't walk side to side as much. Spin the tires 'til you see a little smoke in the side mirror then release the line lock
Seems a lot of fun . Don't stop in the water , pull through the water then do your burn out to heat tires . My 2006 GMC Sierra pick up did the 1/8 mile in 6.25 and the 1/4 mile in 10.28 @ 133 mph . I love DRAG RACING . Have fun , be SAFE . From a 72 year old KID

Until you get your suspension worked out , you will keep breaking motors and parts. With proper suspension setup , 28x10.5 tires will handle all you have. You have over powered the chassis in a big way.
I was going to suggest looking at the suspension set up too, and tire pressure/tire compound.
Also a proper burnout would help. I saw no smoke at all. Tires need heat in them to hook.
Texas speed and performance are working 24/7 to keep these UA-cam creators on track
"thousand hp 2JZ" made me smile.
FYI the header panels for that car are'78-'80 Coupe and thru '83 on the regal sedan/wagon. The 80-83 will give the quad headlight setup.

What id that track? The numbers deffo aren't for a 1/4 mile but they seem seriously slow for an 8th but I thought only top fuel did 1/5mile

Would it help the shifting if you had a sequencial gearbox? It just seemed like the revs were really dropping off when you were shifting.
Cool car. Great experience. Thats valve float/ rocker arm damage. Did you adjust valve lash after it was warmed up? Also you need to work on your bang shift. Your way over reved for way too long. Your clutch foot needs to be 20 times faster. Not sure what your gear box is. But your foot should be slaming to the floor as your clutch foot touches the floor you need to be in gear. Slam the clutch. Rip your foot off the clutch. Your knee and whole leg should be moving up and down with your foot. Almost like your trying to knee your self in the chest when you rip your foot/ leg upwards. The whole motion clutch in, shift clutch out should be half a second or less. No more granny shifting should be your next goal. Thats going to be hard because your back end is breaking loose and your trying to drive the car while learning to shift. You need more reward weight transfer. Drag springs in the back. 70/30 shocks in the rear 90/10 shocks up front. Hopefully this car is 4 linked and you can adjust your reward weight transfer easily.

Stock bottom end 5.3 have been running mid to bottom 7s. And yes those are junkyard engines with a couple of hundred thousand miles. You have to add ring gap. Just like when you spray, let those rings touch and you're gonna seize a piston in the bore for a fraction of a second and bad things happen.
