- We got a home-built hero steppin' up to the plate! Brian King transformed his very first car, a 1982 Oldsmobile Cutlass, into a carbon fiber AWD Supercharged LSx V8 monster! We know that sounds crazy, but the craziest part is that he built it all in his home garage. He's a wild man for wanting to challenge the 1400hp AWD Carbon Fiber Hoonicorn but we are here for it!

cant believe how fast it is with less then 1000hp and heavy as hell. that supercharger is doin some serious work.
Idk if he is being honest. I feel it should do more. A Texas Speed and Performance 427 should make 700+ at the crank. So i would say it makes about 1000 at the crank. If what he said is true 840hp. I just don't see how 300 HP from 22lbs of boots is good. One bar should double the factory HP and, I'm thinking since it's probably pump gas it should make around 1100 at the wheel. I think he is sand bagging because the way that car moves with all that weight it can't be that little HP.

These races are shit anyway. Why even race if you're busy trying to even it out by giving them a hit or a car length. I mean you can make any race close by handicapping the more powerful car but it's lame. We all know what the winner is and would be. The higher HP, lighter, more advanced car. Find some equals to the Hoonicorn. They are out there. I don't wanna see a race with a million advantages to almost make it a tie. 😒

They need to bring that guy onboard. For someone building his own car and only loosing 2 car lengths, and running half the ponies is impressive.

If you take in account for all of the disadvantages of the cutlass, it technically is the better car. 1000 lbs heavier and almost 600 hp less and it's able to be that close of a finish in my mind it's the better car. Not to mention he did it himself and it's a daily driver.

It’s such an awesome build.
To 500ft though... that's not even an eighth of a mile. Any race at 8th of a mile or more, it's getting walked. I understand the underdog aspect and it being appealing in that nature but saying it's the better car is a stretch. They had to throw him a bone and only race to 500ft because it wouldn't be interesting otherwise.
@@ebin27 what he means is the "specific performance" if you want to call it that. What it's doing, considering what it is and how much money is into it, is extremely impressive. The hoonicorn you'd expect to be insane, you wouldn't expect the Cutlass to be remotely competitive but it is. A lot more bang for the buck (arguably).
A lot of us have been wanting to see this for quite some time. Brian is a huge inspiration, both in his build quality and personal character. We need more like him. Great early Christmas present- thanks guys and gals!

The Cutlass is probably in the top 10 of EVERY car that was on this channel imo

For me, it's at the very top, for performing so far beyond expectations while still looking like a near stock 80s family car. This guy/builder is incredibly talented in converting power into forward motion with such great efficiency and it looks so effortless in doing so.

That was incredibly impressive and the sounds both these cars made was music to my ears. I am loving this series, thank you for making it. Also Lia Block's reaction speed has been absolutely amazing every episode thus far.

That cutlass is clean asf. It might have lost but dude it was 800 pund heavier , 550 less hp and 4 seats. That thing is ultimate sleeper. 😭😭😭
It was also a pretty close race for having them disadvantages. It even cost a whole lot less than the Hoonicorn which makes it even better.

WOOWWW Hard core Olds fan here. I’ve followed this Cutlass on here for a while as well as the Hoonicorn. I have to admit my heart started racing as hard as these cars the instant I saw this video! Two unbelievable badass cars. By far my favorite race yet!

I love this video for the fact that even though the Old’s was a bit of an underdog, the guy built it himself. With the help of some buddies. The Hoonicorn was built be a fleet of mechanics, with a design team and a budget that Ain’t Care. Props to the Olds. Thanks for showing the love to us home build guys

Id say for a race build like the hoonicorn its a better car cuz race cars are meant for a certain amount of punishment but there's a limit where punishment turns into destruction id say the cutty is the easier of the 2 to work on for that instance plus its a simple huge v8 paired with a precision turbo what could be simpler if done right. My question is was the hoonicorns issue the same this time as the race with the gtr or was it something gearbox centered?
I like the car but it’s carbon fiber and not stock, i still respect it tho.

I feel like if you’re going to keep bringing in cars that are so down on power and up on weight whilst also resisting giving them a competitive chance (like a hit/roll) at least let us see and hear more about those cars. We get you all want the hoonicorn to win and these videos are great, but it’s just boring having it smash all the underdogs and you all support it through and through. Why no hit or a car length on the final race?

This has been my dislike for this new Hoonicorn 2 series the entire time. EVERY race it seems is hand picked to make sure the hoonicorn wins, and Lia always wins. Extreme favouristism and bias. Let's have some wild rides on here that'll smash the hoonicorn.... why is that so bad to see? Instead of "hand built/Underdog/low budget cars vs. No expenses spared, sponsored car, and driver is a pro's kid given tons of training"

This is so random, but seeing that driveway chained burnout really has me wanting to see you do the same shot, but with the chain on a winch, and the car is pulled into the garage WHILE doing a burnout, and the door starts closing perfectly in time with the car clearing it.

That third race was a setup for the Cutlass. It needed the hit and THEN it might have been close.
It's a great car and I love that it's built by Brian but it just didn't have a chance with 600 less HP and 1,000 more pounds of mass.

What does giving someone the hit means? Headstart?
@@angrydadgaming148 It means they start whenever they're ready and the other driver can't start until they see the vehicle that gets the hit go.
So basically, yes, a headstart, but not a distance and instead a reaction time headstart. If the other car has a driver that's got a very good reaction time, getting the hit doesn't help nearly as much but if they have a better reaction time than you do, you'll always gain vs head-to-head and losing at the start every time.
I love that Cutlass. And those donuts were violent as hell. Man what a car. Hoonicorn is cool too.
I can't get over how freakin rad this cutlass is and I'm so glad it's been back to the show over the years, the way it swings wide roasting all four tires immediately into center-axis donuts is so wrong but so right.

He needed to be at double his power to make it a fair race. This was more less a way for that other guy to show off his custom built car. 99 percent of everyone knew the hoonicorn would destroy this since it was not even close to being a real race!

They are the ones picking the cars the hoonicorn races against, it is never going to lose best out of three. They negotiate to add suspense and make it seem like the home built car has a chance, but allowing negotiation also allows them to negotiate it back in favor of the hoonicorn when they do come up against a really fast car. The hoonicorn is never going to lose best out of three unless someone behind the scenes messes up and negotiates wrong or picks a car they didn't do enough research on.

@@CreamAle there were a couple of no prep cars, I don't think there's any fast enough? Case in point, the closest was the Pikes Peak racer on a Wolf chassis, I think. They need a race car meant for rough surfaces AND outright speed: AWD hillclimb cars
That cutlass not only has less power, it weighs more and was right there with the mustang. I'm far more impressed with that cutlass because it's nasty.

I mean, yeah it's cool and all. But right at the beginning you guys talked about people complaining you keep versing the Hoonicorn against cars that have no chance. And this is another example. 600 horsepower less, weighing 800 pounds more, with a driver that's probably 100 pounds lighter than the other. Like.. Bruh. And you can't bring up a counter of 'Well, they faced a 4000 HP NHRA champion car.' Yeah.. A car specifically built for prepped surface... on a dusty, gravel covered nonprepped road.
Yea and clearly they have stopped trying to convince the other team to ask for more on the second race. It should have not been heads up.
Couldn't agree more but GOD FORBID you say anything in these comments. They seemed to start this series off well but then this....just like before but at least the cut did awesome here. I'm not looking forward to the next one with Kyle since his car is still less HP, RWD and built solely for the drag strip not no prep, he's gonna get wrecked.

So after just watching the cutlass vs the taxi this was actually really fun to immediately watch how it stacked up against the Hoonicorn, it really puts into perspective exactly how fast the cutlass is and how fast the Hoonicorn is. Good sport for runnning it and amazing the car digs fast and reliable.

That cutlass pulls HARD off the line.
A large team of professionals built the hoonicorn. For a car one man built I have to give him hella props. Truth is you can't buy them they must be built. And for the kids out there it's not like on the movies where the garage door shuts and then it opens and a race car pulls out one guy takes years to build one it takes a team months and when you're buying parts you're buying more trash than your parts cuz you throw away a whole lot of packing. Let's not forget the $ it takes. I think this is the best matchup they've had for the hoonicorn. RIP KB

Out of all the amazing machines yall have brought out over the years, this is my favorite. From burn yard to last time it raced to this one. Beast of a build and the looks are amazing. Best car brought to show hands down!
Lia block has to be the coolest 14yr old on the entire planet. You dad is ken block and at 14 you've raced a car that ever man in the world would take a punch just to sit in it's passenger seat and have a very successful record in it
