    The best part with that ending was the quiet birdcall, followed by a *very* faint giggle from Harper, his imaginary daughter.

    I never noticed it until now ,but during the scene where little BoJack is under the table refusing to perform for the supper club, it might be a parallel to the beginning of Prickly Muffin where BoJack gives Sarah Lynn the show business advice that ultimately destroys her

    Navi says early on that the show brings you down. I can get how that might work for someone who's healthy. But being somewhere in the realm of Micky and Chris when I first watched it, BoJack actually helped pull me out of my depression. It showed me cyclical thought processes and possible recurring actions that, while mine were not as bad as the dramatized BoJack, nonetheless were helping keep me down and in the state I was.
    This show helped me so much and actually brought me up and made me a happier person.

      That’s actually amazing! I have had the opposite sort of effect so far, honestly. I know this is a 6 year old comment, but I’m on my BoJack journey rn and I’m only up through S3-E11, but I have to actually take breaks bc this show actually brings my depression down further. It’s heartbreaking, tragic, and it really gets to me. I think the main reason I’m still watching is that I do like the characters, and I just really want someone to win, even if it’s not BoJack.

    He is not an inherently a bad person he just lost the capability to be and act like a good one, somewhere from when he was a kid to when he was in horsing around leaving himself at the peoples mercy and having to be what they wanted him to be shaped a certain aspect of his mind the crucial moment was when he turned his back on his friend that and the fame, drugs and alcohol is what i believe turned him into the person we see today.

  • @thesyndrome43
    @thesyndrome43 6 років тому +124

    this is definitely my favourite episode, it's the perfect blend of comedy and drama for me; the dream is hilarious, terrifying, and poignant at the same time, you can analyze the aspects of Bojacks dream to find the meaning behind it, for instance the giant Mr Peanutbutter looking down on him is a representation of how he thinks Mr PB perceives him as a lesser person (but in reality Mr PB thinks they are equivalent because of their working histories), and in actuality it's showing how Bojack is interpreting peoples words and actions as attacks on him where none were intended.
    Another good one is where it zooms back from the horsin around set, and Bojack is actually in a set of his current-day house, which could be alluding to how he feels that he always has to "act" for people, even in his normal life.
    also if you've never had depression then the ending won't hit as hard, because this is his lowest point where he basically admits he is a huge fuckup and then asks someone for validation that he can change and it's not too late for him, and she doesn't validate him because of how he hurt her; if that was real life, Bojack probably would have killed himself shortly after that because of how crushing it is to finally feel like you can turn your life around and then have that crushed, you would think you are shitty beyond recourse and that the world would be better off without you

    You have to try to be better than you are now and work from there on.
    If, inspite of all his actions Bojack would be considered a good person instantly by Diane, this would degrade his actions.

    I think about this kind of existential and ethical stuff all the time and struggle with wether I can call myself a good person among other things so the ending of this episode as well as the next one had me genuinely sobbing, crying my eyes out on an existential level. The only other thing that ever does that to me is a really emotional character death now and then, but this made me think about myself, in real life, never being able to become a worthwhile human being. That is so much worse.

    that ending though "hey aren't you that guy from horsing around" there's so much there and definitely didnt help boJack any and that trip was the world bojack feels trapped in like when he was talking to the dear lady who's name I can't recall while sinking in tar remember what she said to him last time we saw her in the flash back episode about Hollywood or how certain things he's said are stuff people have told all his life bojack isn't a GOOD person but the important thing is he's not a inherently BAD person either and I think that's where Diana is gonna mess up here should she tell him he is a good person no that would be lying should she tell him he COULD be a good person yes and the thing is she knows it's true and if it wasnt for their fight I think her answer would be the latter what I like about this show though is it shows how these things aren't simple bojack in the moment genuinely wants to change and if diana tells him he could that would get him started but simply wanting to change doesn't mean he could stick with it that why other people have to be on his ass to help keep him with it the problem is there are always going to be slipups on both sides and no guaranty that he would change and that's a lot to ask from other people and it's so so hard from all sides of the problem for everyone involved and the show seems to have a good grasp on that(also thinking about it forgot to mention the comment about how they shouldn't help him and he enjoys treding water is much like this episode very poignant)

      Check Mate he's not a bad person either or more specifically he's not a inherently BAD person either and that's to point of this episode we know a decent bit about bojack but this episode brings everything we know full circle in a far more personal way that trip IS bojack how he sees the world he feels trapped in a insight into why he acts the way he does and though some people may not agree I think the way the season ended is perfect "hey aren't you the horse from horsing around" that says so much especially in the situation it's like the scene where he and Diana are talking about the painting and when he ask if they should help him she replys that he enjoys treding water that one conversation says so much about how he sees himself and the world around him and I'm rather disappointed even if it's understandable considering everything else going on that that scene always seems to be overlooked and the things is it's comments like yours that proove bojacks world view right it in its own way a different kind of validation towards the wrong things and no one would or should blame you either and that's what makes the show good it seems to understand how hard things are on all sides though I do have a problem with people who say people can't change to others faces and then turn around and ask why said people don't seem to bother and try now that's not somthing something I can abide by and I hope I lot of people would agree with me on that I hope at least

    • @mbpoblet
      @mbpoblet 6 років тому +1

      +Azio101 Both FMA and FMA:B are objectively amongst the best anime of all time (with some of the best dubs, too); they're _most definitely_ worth watching (I recommend to watch both, you choose the order... FMA came first, but it ran out of published manga and went its own route; Brotherhood came out when the manga was done and follows it to the end, though it goes a bit fast at the beginning to get over the content covered by the 2003 series, and it's the version the Normies are reacting to; in my opinion it's _slightly_ better than the 2003 series, but that's entirely debatable and both are top quality anyway)... though you'd better reserve time for the inevitable binging once you get to the later episodes, particularly with Brotherhood.
