Honestly, I thought his interpretation wasn't like book Voldemort. Book Voldemort was much more cold and calculating, prone to fierce outbursts of anger. Fiennes' was much more erratic, more spontaneous, and just generally unstable I felt. I still loved his interpretation, however, don't get me wrong.
Paul Kearney Part of it has to go to the producer for making him worse. Just like with Snape, the actor did it spot on despite for creators who ruined their characters
Paul Kearney tbh Alan was the perfect snape because he knew the end of the script...he knew how to play it where he was cold but for a legitimate reason...if he didnt know he would be a complete turn off as a character
Also, Voldemort is hardly the first villain Ralph Fiennes played. He played Amon Göth in Schindler's list, and his performance on that movie was so realistic that a Schindler jew, who knew the real Göth, was hit with PTSD and burst into tears when she saw Fiennes in costume.
Well it kind of matches because although he became crazier and more bold as his power grew Voldemort always was a smooth talker and charmed/flattered those to get what he wanted.
Voldemort is like a teenage girl because he has a diary, a special cup, a tiara and an obsession with a famous teenage boy. THANK YOU RALPH FIENNES FOR MY CHILDHOOD!!..
I still am lol, everytime i rewatch the movies, especially in deathly hallows part 2, like the scene where he walks in the room full of dead people and he talks to nagini in Parseltongue, that scene is creepy, everything about it is just on point, and many other scenes similar to it..
That's what I was thinking as well! Although I would've preferred one movie about Tom Riddle because when they get too long they're not as interesting in my opinion. I mean, the Star Wars prequels weren't that awesome lol
Harry Potter Deathly Hallow Part 2 Alternate Ending, 100% authentic: Death Eaters and Hogwarts Students/Faculty are gathered in the courtyard as Harry lays "dead" in Hagrid's arms. Harry reveals he's alive by zapping his wand, which causes a gust of wind. Voldemort's robes are lifted, revealing lacy, black garters. Everyone cracks up, Fred comes back from the dead just to point and laugh. Nagini immediately abandons him out of shame. Voldemort runs away, crying, into the mountains. The scar never pained Harry again. All was well.

0:51 I feel terrible for that little kid who burst into tears 😭 😂 But knowing that Ralph is a real gentleman, I’d imagine he actually tried to calm down this kid though, in his Voldy face.
The movie that Ralph Fiennes first appeared in as Voldemort was Goblet of Fire, which filmed from June 25th, 2004, to March 2005 (though principal photography began on May 4th, 2004), so I’m guessing that, since Ralph gave the kid’s age as being 4 or 5, the little kid had to have been born sometime either in 1999 or 2000. That would mean the kid is now 23-24 ish.
Ralph is an astounding actor. Listen to him reading the poem “Four Quartets” by T. S. Eliot and you’ll just be mesmerized. I think even those who HATE poetry wouldn’t be able to stop listening. A marvelous voice
Ugh...Such an amazing actor...even as he's talking normally you can just hear the condescension just dripping from his words and those eyes.....just wow. Ralph Fiennes should have had his own Voldemort Back story movie.
The Perfect person to play The Dark Lord.... and he moved like a snake the whole time! great casting! and his voice is so charming yet frightful at the same time
I vote for Ralph Fiennes to portray Magneto in a Marvel Cinematic Universe *X-Men* movie. *Sidenote:* I see Ralph portraying Magneto because both he and Michael Fassbender almost look like they're father and son.
Some people knew him first as Voldemort in Harry Potter. Others know him as Amon Goeth in Schindler’s List. Nowadays in Kingsmen. I knew him first as Rameses in Prince of Egypt
As you should when passing Voldemort. If you pass Voldemort in full on appearance and you don't start crying or running you're definitely a Gryffindor, especially as a kid
Ralph Fiennes in Red Dragon was the real deal. Red Dragon could've been the greatest movie of all time had some of the writing been better, I mean a movie with Anthony Hopkins, Edward Norton and Ralph Fiennes has to be good.
he was a perfect voldemort, i can't picture anyone else doing the role quite as much justice! i still have Voldemorts "ERH HEH HEH!" laugh as my text sound :D
He did make a perfect Voldemort. Just the way he moved, and his head movements and cold voice UGH just spot on great actor
Kinda spoils it when you know he's wearing garter belt.

Don't get me wrong, I am excited for the Fantastic Beasts trilogy but I think they really should have done Tom Riddle trilogy.
Yes
+RookieN08 I like your profilepicture. I cosplay Dovahkiin.
Yes exactly ! They should have... At least fans try to make it come true in "Voldemort: Origins of the Heir" :)
That's what I was thinking as well! Although I would've preferred one movie about Tom Riddle because when they get too long they're not as interesting in my opinion. I mean, the Star Wars prequels weren't that awesome lol
Don't worry, they'll probably do that next.
You know that you have an excellent villain if a simple look from the character can reduce a child to tears. Well done.
Forget his Voldermort performance, I can never forget his performance in Schindlers List. Played that Nazi role to perfection.
I was thinking the same.
Brilliant performance.
Even more terrifying definitely!
I've always assumed it was because of the Schindler's List role he got Voldemort
Best ever

"Oh, the boy who cried."
That kid must be in his 20’s now, he may have NO memory of that at all…

"Wait, my child, put your trust in the dark lord....eeeeehehe!!!"
🤣😂
"I can touch you now."
Neeeeh.
D Way yea the good old days
Ralph Fiennes' favourite Harry Potter line, by the way. I invent nothing, it's true.

One of the VERY BEST actors in the world !
This guy can play EVERYTHING ❗
he looks like voldemort except he has a beard, a nose, perfect teeth, nice voice, nice hair and nice skin.
he looks so alive
And eyebrows

I love to see a montage of bloopers of Voldemort tripping over his robes and falling on his face.
I'd enjoy what Ralph was saying if they hadn't interrupted him so much
Same
+Cinema Playground Agreed. Seriously, people, just shut up and let the man talk!
Ralph is the ideal actor for playing villain characters.
this guy is absolutely insane in "The Schindler's list" I still can't get over it
He really is an incredible actor!
Bloody Love him in The Grand Budapest Hotel.
Epic film! Epic role!
Also he was excellent in The English Patient.
The woman looks like she belongs in the harry potter world tbh, like her hair and outfit

he will always be Hades to me🤣
He is perfect actor to play Voldemort. Performance is always great.
Behold, Nagini, our work is done.
"Now be a dear and slither up to tighten my garters, won't you?"
He is just wonderful
Do you reckon Voldemort is bald so that it's impossible to use his hair for Polyjuice Potion?
does he have body hair though? like pubes?
Jenny S are we really going there?
Clever. Probably just a side-benefit of his association with serpents, though (who ever heard of a hairy snake?).
I think there was an actual reason why that happened, it wasn’t a choice he made on purpose. But it sure was a pleasant side effect
Yeah all the dark magic plus purposely modifying his image to that of a snake. Skits for nose bald pale almost scaly looking skin
I could not imagine anyone else doing a better Voldemort. He was perfect, in every possible way. Human, but ice cold. Angry, but absent.
0:46 jesus, i'd burst into tears from that death stare too!

Poor Ralph, apparently this also happened on the set of Schindler's List where he walked past someone in character and freaked them the hell out.

Ralph Fiennes is gorgeous!!
I can imagine him talking to the script supervisor's son:
"Here I am transforming into Voldemort. Do you see?"
Just watched The Menu and recently finished all the Harry Potter movies. I did not know he played Voldemort!
Every time I see Ralph Fiennes I always tell myself that's Liam Neeson's twin brother right there.
And daniel day lewis too
Yes, they should reveal family connections.
