- Alabama Senator Katie Britt is facing fallout for the sex-trafficking story she told during her rebuttal after the State of the Union Address. The woman from the story, Karla Jacinto, is now speaking out. She says her ordeal did not happen in the United States and it was 20 years ago. Jacinto also says George W. Bush was president at the time. However, Britt defended her version of the story on Fox News.
Why is she smiling? Trafficking is not a joke
It's a joke to her. That's how crazy she is.
I know she's putting on a show, but my mother cries like this. So it's definitely more of a coping mechanism than a smile...

What she actually said was that she was trafficked “ _since_ she was 12.” It’s not a minor difference because by saying “since she was 12” leads most people to imagine it happening for multiple years. Now Britt is trying to say that since she referenced the age of 12 and since she used the word “woman”, implying the woman is now at least 18, that that automatically means that her speech told the viewers that the trafficking took place at least 6 years ago. However, being she said “since” the age of 12, for all the viewer knows the trafficking happened from age 12 to age 17 and now the woman is 18. Her old wording left the door open for the possibility for the trafficking to have taken place as recently as a year ago-which would make the story a _little_ more relevant to this speech, the Rebuttal to the SOTU! She carefully chose her words in her speech to try to create a certain story line and now she is carefully choosing her words again, deceptive words, hoping no one will notice the changes in her wording.
Nice theory, but the woman she's referring to was trafficked back during the Bush administration, and she's in her late 20s to early 30s now, so your entire point is pretty much moot.
